jamieG'z Random Kang Thread
First off, any rom found here is the result of many hard worked hours by a lot of extremely talented people. I am not responsible for creating these roms. I have only compiled them for this device in an effort to fill my own selfish flashing needs. While I find it generous, and it makes me all warm and fuzzy when people ask for a way to donate to me, I will no longer accept any donations, no not even a beer. Please pass those donations to the guys (or gals) responsible for the rom you enjoy, or to one of the people maintaining our device's CM repositories, or kernel.
All downloads in second post, I will link to the specific github for a given rom. All kernel source in ALL of these builds can be found here
Finally, I am posting these roms to bring a little more options to our Evo's. If you were working on building one of these roms, don't feel like you can't post it if it was posted here. I'm not about being "first" and hold no authority over any of these builds. So please, by all means, SHARE your stuff! These builds will be maintained to the best of my ability and time considerations. I flash every build I make and generally have ran it for a few days, I cannot however find every bug on every rom, please feel free to report bugs, if you want them fixed include a logcat with the event or FC, and I will do my best to either fix it or find a fix from someone else.
I'd like to thank all members of LOTK without who I'd of gone too far much much more often than I have.
Special thanks to ROPODOPE for inspiration, and being adamant I continue on with learning Android and being a voice of reason despite
the history here on this sight. He was an asset to this sight and should be brought back, not punished for actions he had no part of.

Not 100% on this answer, yet... Grab the Paranoid preferences app, install with proper perms, then change the dpi for the mms app. Let mne know if this works, I'm knee deep in some stuffs at home. I'll do some fiddlin around later and confirm this myself.
Edit: To get the MMS to show the text w/out overlapping; Using a Paranoid Preferences app (installed by YOU) set the MMS apk to 274 dpi, 720px layout, check "force", check "Large Screen". This got it looking good for me.

I'm guessing some will work though, right? Like camera and keyboard and desk clock? I use those on Tmartin AOKP.
I would just test, myself, but I am sadly at work for 8 more hours. The wait is gonna kill me. Been dying for some AOKP.

Quote:
You are wondering which Rom you're going to chose....
You want all the awsome features....
You want them to combine their features together....
But they don't exist!!!!!!!
Here xda senior member "szl.kiev" made it work!!!
You don't have to decide which one to choose.
You have ALL in one Rom
Don't want to have scrolling SystemUI toggles??
Here you can make the toggles two lines!!!!!
Using two features from CM&AOKP.
Enjoy the combination from slz.kiev!!!!!!!
Special Thanks
Special Thanks are in order to:
slz.kiev - for the base source to PAC
Bigwillyg - for Buttered Toast Kernel that I use here, also from source
CG - For just his releases and innovations that I been rockin since I first rooted!
Agrabren - I only slightly modified his device tree, and htc vendor, and used most of his patches
Team Evervolv and PreludeDrew - For all of their awesome sources (I started with their android_hardware_libhardware_legacy, and libhardware)
toastcfh - For WimaxHelper.java and his other work to reduce the bulk of the original HTC Wimax
Team Hydra for a great many forum posts and repo that helped make the rom possible.
NineInchNails - for being innovative and for his repo and many forum posts that taught me a great deal.
dastin1015 - for awesome work he been putting out there.
Mazda - for ideas that i had reading his device tree, his tree helped me understand the aokp parts more and for helping me understand some issues
DigitalHigh - for inspiration and for being my dev partner with MIUI
LensFlare - for inspiration
Ramjet73 - For the initial version of the wimax logs stopper and all the other contributions he makes here and everywhere! Thanks again To Ramjet73 For updated wimax logs fix for my 4.2.2 series!
OF course Cyanogen, Paranoid Android, and the awesome Team Kang and all contributors of CM, AOKP, and PA for brining AOSP development to new levels all the time!
CollegeDev and all the other OpenPDroid devs for OpenPDroid 2.0!
Metall1ca from my team, maintainer of LG devices and others for help with Open PDroid!
Here is my second release of PACman ROM. I will update then I can, however I have a full time job, wife life, etc... I simply wanted there to be more out there to try out on our awesome device. Support ALL the devs out there and the sacrifices they make to give flashaholics a fix!
I hold no responsibility whatsoever for anything that happens to your phone either in relation to flashing this or any add-ons etc...

Newest release I started a new position at work a few weeks back so I cannot get on as often. I will stop back when I can. Shouldn't be much longer, however expect a few bugs here and there. As this is my first BETA on 4.2.2 and so much has changed!
Also, you no longer need to flash the PA Settings as all that's changed and baked in through the new interface.
Enjoy!
Thanks to the device trees from Team Hydra I was able to solve the issues I was having! Those guys NineInchNails and Dastin1015 are incredible. Make sure to give anything they do a run you wont be disappointed!

1. Built-in portable hotspot gets stuck turning on wifi and have to reboot to get out of it. TrevE's beta version of WiFi Tether works though.
2. Camera takes video but gallery can't play them back. This seems to be a problem with all the ROM's based on agrabren's CM10. MX Player works to play them back so at least there's a workaround.
Good news:
1. Google Voice works.
2. YouTube works.
3. Netflix works.
4. WiMax 4G works (of course )
Good job!

Thanks much for testing! Sorry, I hadn't actually had the chance to test WiFi Tether, I'll grab his beta and put it on my list for next release.
Is the one that's working Revision 15? If so I found the source, so I'll definitely have it in next release.
Although I can play video that I took with Gangnam style in gallery this morning before I wiped. (720p)
Agreed good rom hopefully no infinite boot sequences.
it looks like after two reboots.. my phone wouldnt boot back up it would get stuck on the bootanimation.
sorry i couldnt grab a logcat..
I'll be downloading this when I get home, can't wait to play around with it for a few days and give some feedback!

You're welcome.
One minor thing that's not really a problem but just something to note is that since Google Maps is not installed by default, Google Now will FC when pressing "show details" for any of the cards. The solution is easy, just install Google Maps.

Woohoo, downloading it already!... When it finishes uploading I guess
Seriously, since you posted on twitter that there was a chance of a release, I've checked every 20min!
Thanks guys
Edit: I'm guessing its recommended to use the latest GApps from goo.im?
Just adding a Torch.apk that works with this ROM, credits go to DT
Yes sir they work fine for me so far
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium HD app
Didn't boot for me, left it for about 15min... Checked MD5 and its good.
Do I need to pair a kernel up with it through recovery?
Re-downloading ROM and GApps just incase some funny business is going on
Its not booting for me either

I got it to boot by flashing Franco along with it, it will probably work with others too but I'm not too sure, I just used Franco because it was included in the last release.
Good luck
Edit: torch toggle doesn't work by default, I installed the AOKP torch.apk and it still isn't working, anybody have any ideas?

thanks, I forgot about the toolkit.
pushed the kernel over and flashed, and now it's booting.
So no one has got it to load on a different kernel than Franco? That's weird.

Running beautiful for me, its the smoothest feeling ROM I've had running on my Nexus 4, plus, now it has some awesome features
Top marks guys.
only franco kernel compatible
I think I know the answer to this, but is it possible to just wipe cache and dalvik coming from the liquid smooth alpha rom? Probably not right?
I've just got things set up really good on the alpha build.
And I take it you just flash the ROM then immediately flash Franco kernel in order to get the ROM booting?

Couple of bugs to note, for me anyway.
1. Home button doesn't work. On move it should show previews of home screen by default when pressed. I got nothing. I tried switching it to app drawer, still nada.
2. In the quick settings, pressing the settings tile does nothing.
Love the extra customizations. Smooth as you like.

Unofficial Carbon Rom
CarbonRom is an aftermarket firmware based on the Android Open Source Project. We are dedicated to fast, stable, and feature-filled roms, honesty and communication with our users, and openness with our code. We like frequent builds, with the very latest and greatest hardware support and fixes. We strive to not only provide you with the best rom we can build, but also to give back to the Android community and our fellow developers. For us, this is about creating something we can be proud of and hope you will enjoy.
Please feel free to look at, build, and use our code on CarbonDev GitHub.
We would like to thank CyanogenMod for their device trees, framework/settings mods and their code that was incorporated into this project. We also extend our gratitude to the devs whose code that we have incorporated. Proper authorship has been maintained and can be viewed on our repository.
Special thanks also go to Slim Rom for some of their features, PA, AOKP, and anyone else we may have borrowed commits from that hasn't been mentioned here. If you feel you have been unfairly left out, please - let us know.
While we make every effort to test these builds as much as possible, we are not responsible for anything that may happen to your device, family, pets, or perception of reality. We ask that you do your part to know your device and know how to recover from problems before you flash!
1.6 is a pretty big update for us! Check out the changelog on our goo.im page for more, but here are the highlights:
-We've fixed PIE! It no longer decides to be invisible from time to time.
-We fixed the battery charge light! None of us use it but apparently you guys are just nuts for it!
-Dark Carbon! Huge props to Slim Roms for coming up with this unique and awesome feature.
-Lockscreen theming
-CM skinny battery is back!
-Volume key lock on silent mode option
-Backup tool - if you're flashing a new version of Carbon and already have the required version of gapps installed, it will be backed up and restored during install. This applies to system apps and custom host files as well. Please note that you should only dirty flash from Carbon to Carbon. It's ok if it's another version or a nightly - just not over other roms. Super handy for you crack flashers. Make sure you've got the most recent Gapps though, and if you're flashing from a factory reset, you'll still need to install it after install of course.
-Long pressing the "clear recents" button clears the cache
-3.4 kernel on D2xxx devices. It's finally stable enough where we're comfortable with this - remember to only flash other 3.4 kernels or it will not boot as there are rom-level dependencies.
-AOKP's awesome new navbar settings
-NFC polling mode for when you want to keep your screen off and scan tags
-MMS and call "breathe" feature. Makes the notification icon fade in and out.
-Mute dings when changing volume
-Disable/enable CRT effect on screen on/off.
-3rd party keyboard bug fixed
-deodexed again
-stability and speed enhancements
-a million other little things as well - we basically don't even sleep anymore.

Neither LOTK nor myself claim responsibility for the code in this rom,
I have only built it for this device.
I'd like to thank all members of LOTK without who I'd of gone too far much much more often than I have.
Special thanks to ROPODOPE for inspiration, and being adamant I continue on with learning Android and being a voice of reason despite

I got to put this out there right naow... This ROM, is wicked, lightening fast. These guys went all out. I built this playing around, after running it for a short time, and realizing this schools anything I have built or ran on this phone, I had to post it to share. Very lightweight 120+ MB, Linaro opts for ROM and kernel, Liquid settings that rival Root Box and PAC, all together in an extremely well refined ROM. I'm blown away by it. Hope you all enjoy.
I can't frakking wait till Deck and the kernel guru's get us a 3.4 kernel...
BTW, it runs swell on the stock kernel, but Komodo brings it to a HNL...

That's all the Liquid team bro, my only adds to this were reducing a couple animation duration settings and applying the patches for 4.7 compliance provided by Rohan Mathur. Who, btw, has been one of our recent contributors in maintaining our kernel on CM.
But hey, I did sync all that ****, created a couple vendor files to build it, and sat back for the 18 minutes it took to compile while having a Platinum.... Buurp. Hard work indeed.

Hi,
I wanted to know a couple of things if you don't mind.
First - are the pictures and video in this ROM just as good as the ones on Sense?
Second - does the noise cancellation work with this ROM?
Does are really my only concerns right now.
Thanks!!

Something that may seem very simple to one person, would have probably helped us get out of a hole that we were stuck in for days
Help has been invaluable, we will not forget it!
Special thanks to our awesome Testers.Their constant support on a minute to minute basis has been incredible and invaluable There have been days of flashing 12-15 different builds in a session, and all of you have been so helpful, patient, and so much fun to be around, it made doing this a huge pleasure. Unknown usernames online have become good friends, and this is by far the best outcome of this project.
Thanks to all the folks over at the Slim Builder’s Collective, where all of this began
We would like to note that we do not take credit for any of the code for any of the features we have included. All thanks goes to the super awesome, and highly talented devs and teams. We have tried as far as possible to maintain credits in our GIT commit pages, but if in any instance during conflict resolution, or when we commit using SmartGit, the original author’s name has been obfuscated, please accept our apologies, do bring it to our attention, we will correct the oversight immediately. We are extremely thankful to all the coders out there who put out amazing new features, patches and updates that makes the Android experience a lot more brilliant…
This is our small contribution back to the community that taught us everything :good:
Thanks to SlimRoms, CM, OptiPop, Layers Team & many of the other open source projects out there.

Coming from stock or another ROM:
Factory Reset
Full wdata, wipe: system, cache, dalvik cache.
Flash latest firmwares if you haven't flash it yet.
Flash the Twisted build.
Flash gapps
DO NOT Flash latest SuperSU
Coming from previous Twisted build:
Flash the Twisted build.
No need to wipe dalvik-cache.
Layers Backup app in twisted apps allows you to retain the set layers after a dirty flash. We recognise the fact that there is a similar feature within Layers Manager, however there is a major difference.
You set all the layers you want, click on the backup & let it do it’s work. After you do a dirty flash, the ROM boots with your layers pre-installed. No need of a reboot.
If you are facing issues with the power button not responding, got to Display, check ‘Prevent accidental wake up’. Then switch it off again. Reboot.
Flashing SUperSU during ROM flash may result in losing Advanced Power Menu
No reason for xposed not to work on twisted. But if any issues, we may not be able to support them
Camera FC when using HDR mode in Google Camera

As always, we are not responsible for anything that may happen to your device due to custom rom / kernel flashing & other lovely things that you do with it
It is expected of you to know what you are doing.
We intend this to be a friendly, learning thread.
Requests, Suggestions & feedback are always welcome.
Team Twisted would like to bring to you - Twisted Android Project
This has been a serious learning experience for all of us involved as well as a super fun trip
We totally enjoyed making this, and hope you like it as well.
We would first and foremost like to Thank all our friends., There are many, many devs here on XDA who have been patient with us and have always been there to lend a helping hand. It would be impossible to name all of you, but if we have spoken to you even once, we are deeply grateful for what you have done.
