HD videos will be displayed as HD 1280 x 720 by the Xperia Tablet S. HD 1920 x 1080 videos will be scaled down to HD 1280 x 720. How well the tablet does the scaling depends on the video player app and CODECs being used. The tablet's stock video player is a poor excuse for a video player. I use and recommend MX Player Pro and MX Player Codec (ARMv7).

HDMI output on smartphones

I have searched a lot over google etc. about knowing if the smartphones with HDMI output capability actually outputs 720p or 1080p on HDTV or it is just that the screen resolution is upscaled to HD..
I can understand that all HD games are high in graphics but they are not actually 720p resolution certainly..but i am talking about HD movies which are of 1280*720 resolution which plays on my xperia neo v like a true HD video with high density of my screen with bravia engine enabled it looks awesome on my mobile..
But my query is when I connect it to HDTV by HDMI cable provided with xperia neo V...the same HD (1280*720) does not seems to be like HD..So is it that it outputs the mobile screen resolution by upscaling even in the case of HD files ?
Is that just happens with xperia neo v or all the android smartphones with HDMI output capabilities just upscales the resolution?
Please make it clear with few links possible as well as help on how to make the HDMI output for HD videos look as good as possible..(specially on my xperia neo v)
Thank you..
Its with everyphone coz HD output needs HD input too...
If input is 800x480, then it wud be upscaled to 720 or 1080p, though the videos will be in original(non-upscaled) resolution..

Thanks for the help so that means if I play 720p HD movies then it ISS actually thhe complete resolution right? And not the upscaled screen resolution..I can understand for non hd videos games etc..but the one which is HD is actually displayed in HD only right?
hello. I am facing an issue trying to play 3D mkv files with 3D subtitles over 1080p HDMI on a ainol novo 8 advanced.
imgur . com / RBCI4 - see it here
This image I took from a youtube video, but this is what happens with my tablet with hdmi out 1080p
The video player interface still at 1280x768 but the video is at its original 1080p
With hardware decoding running
I dont know if this is related to all android tablets/phones or just some kind
My challenge is to play mkv 3d with 3d subtitles. But this can only be done if the player interface, thus the subtitle position, is also full screen.
If this is a all android issue, so I will have to give up
Its hard enough find a player that plays 3d subtitles (mv player does, with .idx type embedded at the mkv file)
Regards

[question] possible to play full hd videos on ray ??

Guys we all know our phone is well capable of playing 720p videos and MX player can play only audio in 1080p videos... but is it possible to play
1080p video on our device?????
What's the point, really? We don't have enough resolution and the clips take awful lot memory from sd card in real 1080p. Just convert the clips to smaller res and be happy with your Ray

I used Mxplayer too, but only play films p720 with bitrate < 2000 kbps. So surprise your ray can play p1080
All ray can play full hd!!!
Maybe you should overclock or have a different Rom!!!
But only with mp4 container...
Quite difficult with others!!!

the best player for HD movies with no lags for xperia ray, is:
Dice Player
I test every players such az MX player, pot player, qq player and ... but the best one is dice player
What is the point for doing that. If you resize the film to ray's screen size

If you have correct codecs then there is only one reason you get that lag: your video isn't prepared for this phone, is bigger as in format. To play video smoothly in this device you have to convert your video to 480x800 px format. There are a lot of software that can do that, just google for free video converter, and in conversion window choose output to Android video format 480x800.
I had that problem too, and as I said here, I solved it.

Best video Player for Low Quality/Resolution Movies

Hi.
My Tablet "Lenovo Yoga 10" screen 1280x800
I watch a lot of Manga/Animi and they are low quality/resolution and look very blocky when playing at fullscreen, I have tried MX Player Pro and Dice Player.
Is there any Video Players that smooth the image or upscale or enhance the video during playback.
Thanks
John.
Did you try Rock Player and/or VLC?

Now my question is Z2 tablet capable of playing 1080p HI10P videos (mainly anime) ? my z1c can play 720p hi10p vids in software playback mode, which is ok.

Just tested on mine. It doesn't play using the inbuilt Sony movie player. I can get it working using third party players (I tried VLC and MXPlayer), but only using the software decoder.
