[Q] SkyGO 1.4 ITA - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone, i upgraded my tab to 4.1.2 using cyanogenmod 10, but obviously i lost samsung apps and with it the sky go app. I found an apk of the 1.2 version, installed it, but it continues creating problems (the screen of the application becomes white after 10 seconds), and i think the 1.4 solves that problem (anyway i want to try it), but i can't find a version installable (it always says "application doesn't installed".
Ho can i do? Thank you all!

Since its a samsung app it probably won't work on cm10. You'll need a ROM that has the touchwiz framework for the app to run.

[Q] Apps disappear in Market of CM 6.x ROM

Some apps disappeared from Market (can no longer be found with either browsing by category or using the search function) after I flashed CM 6.0/6.1 ROM, including FoxyRing, PingChat, Seesmic, Foursquare, etc.
I have tried MarketAccess.apk, no luck.
Could anyone help me please?
Is this because of the Android version? Is froyo not supported by those apps?
Sent from my HTC Hero using XDA App
OK I admit this a stupid question. Of course it is because Android 2.2 is not supported by those apps. :-S

I find all of the above apps when searching for them. Using Floyo 1.1.9, which is a 2.2 rom

Thank you for your information! I will try replacing my Vending.apk with that from a Floyo ROM and do some investigation.
Tried Vending.apk from Floyo. No luck.
Also compared system versions between the two ROMs. Didn't see any difference.
Totally confused now...
Sent from my HTC Hero using XDA App
Attached are screenshots to show the version information of my current ROM and the Vending.apk.
It's driving me crazy!
I just flashed Floyo, installed FoxyRing, Foursquared, Seesmic, PingChat with the Market, and saved the four apk files in my sdcard.
Then I restored my CM6.1-RC1 and try to install the four apk files I just saved.
But my phone won't let me install them. It just keeps saying "not installed".
What is the trick that Floyo ROM has done to make it work??

[Q] Problems installing Slim ROM

Hello everyone,
I'm having problems installing the Slim ROM. I have an SGS2 I9100.
First let me tell you what I did.
I've had my phone rooted with CWM for awhile, but have been running a Stock samsung ROM on ICS. Wanting to upgrade, I found slim and downloaded the i9100_4.2.zip file. Then I went downloaded Slim_Gapps. I flashed first the ROM than Slim_Gapps and everything went fine. Except I had no keyboard at all when the ROM loaded up. I managed to log into the google play store, by texting my username/PW to myself and copy pasting them to log into google. However, I was getting a server error in the play store. I tried clearing data from the store and all that but no luck.
I figured I must have the wrong software or messed something up. So I went back to and downloaded Slim-GT-I9100-2.8.0-OFFICIAL from the slim site again along with the md5sum fix. I rebooted to recovery, wiped cache, dalvik cache then just flashed, however, now my phone just hangs up on "Opening update package..." I flashed Siyah-s2-v5.0b2.tar from using ODIN, but the problem persist. When I tried to reflash using the i9100_4.2 I get the same problem. After freezing on "Opening update package..." for awhile, the phone reboots into CWM. I simply don't understand what the problem is.
That's everything I've done. What I want is to get my phone up-to-date with the Slim ROM and 4.1 Jellybean (If that's possible?)
Any help is greatly appreciated. I've been trying to solve this problem for hours and have become incredible frustrated.
P.S. I tried posting exact links to where I got all my files from but apparently that's not allowed.
Ok, after trying to install SlimBean 2.8 again it worked. However I now do not have a google play store. I have installed slim gapps but still do not have the store. Thoughts?

Thanks, that worked, but is the play store supposed to have a black background? And why does it have to be Multi DPI? (Curious)

The black background is the inverted version exactly the same in every way as a normal play store app. The black background is a power saving mod as it's less for the screen light up . The multi DPI is so it can recognise devices with differing DPI settings. (i think) Its an option to change in settings. Stock slim is dpi 182 i prefer 240 . Multi dpi play store will work with both

Ah alright, I didn't realize the black background had power saving purposes, I thought it was either a glitch or just supposed to look cool. I just got done messing with the DPI settings. I think I settled on 210? 182 was a bit too small. Thanks for your help and info.
Slim ICS / JB on S ll
Hello Calliddus.
I do not intend to hack your thread, just need some help.
Am new to the forum and to android. Have read the noob tutorials posted around.
I bought a new Samsung Galaxy S 2 which came with ICS 4.0.3 running on it.
I intend to install Slim bean ( if possible ), or Slim ICS (if its more practical) on the phone.
You seem to know what you are talking about, and I can't post on the Development threads in the forum.
Hence if it isn't must trouble, can you please guide me through the following ?
1. I tried looking, and since I couldn't find anything, would i be right if I assumed that installing a Slim ROM (Either ICS 4.0.4 or JB) over the Stock Samsung 4.0.3 , would not be something wrong or undesirable to do ?
2. I am not a very heavy or avid user, but I would like a simple, plain and glitch free OS with the advance customization options, so should I just stick to Slim ics or should i think about Slim bean (assuming its possible to install it on my device) ?
3. What backup method would you suggest, assuming I will fail in my upgrade and will have to go back to stock once again? ( Nandroid, CWM recovery, etc.. )
I have a lot more questions, but not as important.
Your help will be appreciated.

CM 10.1 + Google Play Store App working

Cool!
Just tested kornyone's CM10.1 (cm-10.1-20130206-UNOFFICIAL-doubleshot) for the MT4GS with gapps for jelly bean (gapps-jb-20121212-signed) and it works smoothly so far. Had issues previously with the Gapps on previous editions of CM10.... but now it seems to be working.
Many thanks to kornyone and whoever keeps the updates of the Google "Stock Apps" going.

I'm not sure whether you've got it working already, but for me it was something with the version of the ROM that i was using. For some reason Google Stock Apps would not work on cm-10.1-20130101-UNOFFICIAL-doubleshot, but they worked with cm-10.1-20130206-UNOFFICIAL-doubleshot. What was changed in the versions, i'm not quite sure.
I downloaded the latest version of Gapps (gapps-jb-20121212-signed) from "donandroid.com/gapps", loaded it onto the SD card and used the ClockWorkMod Recovery tool (that you can get to run at Boot up) through the Advanced menu (or something close to that). Look for the option that says something like install software from ZIP file on SDcard
Hope that helps.
NB: ...on the page "donandroid.com/gapps" it says that the version that i used is incompatible with 4.1.2 ... so you might want to try the next version after that.

[Q] Can I update when rooted?

I found very different answers on the internet about this topic.
Some say yes you can update when rooted some say no and some say you can if you didn't remove any apps.
I would like to root my samsung galaxy S III I9300 and remove the samsung apps.
I do not want a custom rom and I would like to update my phone at any time when there is a new update.
Also would like to know if I could remove the "TouchWhiz home" and use the standard jelly bean skin.
So far as I know it's in the list named "System UI" with the jelly bean logo.
Thanks for all the replies,
Instead of rooting my phone I sold my Samsung Galaxy S3.
The comments were very useful and made me think, I decided to buy a google phone since the Samsung Galaxy S3 has still a quite high value in The Netherlands.
This would give me the pure android experience without rooting the phone or installing new roms.

You could try freezing the samsung apps in application manager so you don't need to root
And don't uninstall system ui, touchwiz is called touchwiz in the apps list

I did freeze those apps but I still would like to remove them.
I don't like it when there are apps on my phone which I didn't install myself that bothers me very much. :silly:
I didn't want to remove the "system UI" but the question was if I could remove the "TouchWhize home" and use the "System UI" instead.
The "System UI" has the jellybean logo so in my eyes this would be the official android skin?
Thanks for your reply! :good:
Best option for removing the Samsung apps is to root your phone. Touchwiz is also the default home of your S3. I am on Apex so I don't use it. But i am not sure if you can run System UI. Never seen it.
If you want a JellyBean theme then download Apex Launcher or Go Launcher and download the JellyBean themes from the Play Store. They're all free from memory. I use to use them.

you are very misinformed the system ui isnt the stock jelly bean launcher that is the things such as the status bar etc so whatever you do you dont want to remove that as it will give you a tonne of force closes also as the other guy said there are many launchers that can give the stock experience i aswell used to use apex launcher, it has a tonne of customization and is very smooth. you can after youve installed apex launcher uninstall touchwiz if you are rooted although i dont recommend it. if it bothers you id just recommend freezing/disabling it
Wasn't sure.

I wasn't sure about that "System UI" so if I root the phone I will let the "TouchWhize home" on the phone and install a launcher.
Also I would like to know if I am still able to update my Samsung Galaxy S3 after rooting.
Edit: 4/21/2013 - 3:24 AM
What if I still change my mind to install a different rom which rom would give me the most updated version of jelly bean?
Thanks for your reply :highfive:
I recommend Apex Launcher for a rooted phone and Go Launcher for unrooted. Go Launcher is probably the best but if your rooted its not really as good anymore.
With the Samsung updates I'm not sure if you can because I have not done it but from my knowledge. If you run a custom ROM, it will notify you for an update which will probably give you the features of the latest update.
I am running Resurrection Remix JB 3.1.4 running android 4.2.1

you cant update your rom if you put a rom on it the only way to do it is when a new fw comes out wait for the devs to update their rom then download the rom and reflash it. if you want a complete vanilla android rom then 4.2.2 is the latest fw and you will find most of them roms in the original development thread if you want a samsung based rom and just download a different launcher then i would recommend 4.1.2 as the 4.2 versions are leaked and can be unstable, for stock android the latest none leaked fw is emc3
Thanks for all the replys!

I can imagine that the Samsung Galaxy S3 is not that much worth in the UK
The Netherlands didn't get the Nexus 4 so there are just a few stores which sell the Nexus 4.
So before that everyone would have the S4 I sold my S3 and bought the Nexus 4.
I thought that would be a smart idea and so far it is :silly:

Not working

Hey there, I am using HTC Desire HD with cm-11-20131229-UNOFFICIAL-ace. Whenever I download Themer from Playstore, it exits saying Application has stopped working.
p.s I have used it on PacMan Rom 4.2.2 and it was great! :good::good::good:
themer is not currently available on the playstore m8,as for crashing remember it is still beta, some have had issues while others haven't.I am also not fully sure it is cm11 compatable not having used it.If it was working before then it is possible it is the rom.Have you tried totally removing themer including the mycolorscreen folder, then re installing ?

As alldroid stated, Themer has been temporarily removed from the Play Store, however it shouldn't be long until it's up and running again. Also make sure that you're running stock DPI/resolution settings before installing it else themes won't show up.
