Eh, as much as I love Android, I cannot agree with you here. Gingerbread was pretty bad. ICS was much better, but not the iPhone better. Sense on ICS made things better, but still you could see slowdowns here and there. But CM10 and now official JB update made it very pleasant, fast, responsive experience.
But my Transformer Prime on JB is still jerky, and definitely not as smooth as my iPad 2.

Stock browser felt faster than chrome too. Flash still works in it too.

Speaking of which - any way to turn on scrolling wallpaper? I don't like the static wallpaper as much and I never really had a problem with slowdown from it.

I actually don't mist the scrolling wallpaper, it made average sized wallpaper suck.
Great for live wallpapers though.
I'm actually pissed that I have little to nothing to bicker about now.
Well, I am a little miffed by the menu button on home not bringing up anything at all. I'll get over it though

Smooth Scrolling?

Hello,
Just got my rezound but am very dissapointed with scrolling. Browser seems so chop. Are there any fixes for this. Maybe a Rom?
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using XDA App
I have yet to use a ROM/Android device that has iOS like buttery smooth scrolling. There are so many different hardware/software combinations out there in the Android world its hard to make each device as smooth as the end user wants it to be. That's where Apple has it right, they make the software AND hardware, its much easier to develop software for one type of hardware spec. I have yet to use an ICS phone for longer than just a minute or so, but it looks like Google is making a big leap forward into providing iOS like smoothness to the Android loving masses. I hate to compare everything to iOS but when it comes to smoothness of navigation it takes the cake. WP7 is surprisingly smooth too I was shocked haha.
You're probably going to have to wait until ICS for the browser to be really smooth (GPU acceleration).
Or you could use Opera browser that's pretty damn smooth. I can fling through high res photos desktop mode w/o any lag. That was on stock.. I'm on a custom rom w/ the inc kernel and the UI is pretty damn smooth. Even the notifcation lag while scrolling is very minimal.
Which rom are you on?

wish I knew where that huge article was, explaining how iPhones don't truly multi task and how the reason its scrolling is do smooth is because the second your finger touches the screen, every other process halts in favor of the ui, whereas on android, things in the background keep working like a real computer would.

This is what I figured, all resources are given to interface which honestly IMO is probably the best method out right now for making these phones appear smooth since to me a smooth UI experience is more important than some background processing while I'm scrolling/clicking. What is the average user gonna notice a smooth interface or that an app stops processing events (except interface) briefly?

I was having the same issues with the lag. I think it's more of a Sense problem than anything else. ICS might fix it, but Sense 4.0 probably won't let it. I installed the CleanRom 1.5 a couple of days ago and have been lag free ever since.

Nah, not necessary, but not really smooth either. It's pretty disappointing to be on ICS with a dual core CPU and still have a stuttering browser.
I'm on GB inef 1.4 and scrolling is only smooth in a couple of apps, but Facebook is choppy, tapatalk is choppy but I think that's the application cuz it only chops for a sec over links and stuff. All of the zynga games are incredibly laggy. Contacts and messaging scrolling is choppy. App drawer is laggy. Is it just sense? Or is it that the GPU isn't good enough or something?
I think HTC should use some kind of motion blur if they can't make a phone (with specs like this one) that doesn't lag.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk 2
My scrolling is buttery smooth in every app I use. I also use Dolphin browser.
I use dolphin hd. It's almost never smooth unless there isn't much on the page. If there are pictures it thumbnails it's choppy... The motion is smooth but everything chops when it's moving

The problem I'm having with what you say, I never had the flicker to begin with, so it's different for everyone and I don't care if someone says it effects performance deleting the line. The rom is fast enough for me. It's a personal choice and most people just want something that works and don't care about the technical mumbo jumbo. On my phone, every thing works.

I've tried all the roms and liquid is the smoothest right now the way I have it set. No lags, flickers, stutters, mutters, flutters, just butters lol. Man I wish you could really try my phone then run another rom then you'd know!

I know what you mean. What's funny is, pick up a nexus with stock JB on it, and I have, every rom available here blows it out of the water as far as smoothness and all around performance. So you can't say "true jb" because stock jb can't hold a candle to what we have. I blew a district manager for at&t away when he played with liquid on my phone and I think slim is even smother

ICS or Gingerbread Strictly in Terms of Performance/App Speed. Your opinion?

I'm going back and forth between these two as there are things I like about both.
One thing I have read is that ICS is more ram intensive, and thus certain apps might run a bit faster under Gingerbread.
Performance is the main thing I care about so I'd like to know if this is true and I would like to know your general opinions on ICS compared to Gingerbread
as well ....

Man ... things are really touchy around here. Maybe I just have brain damage (quite possible) but I don't remember having to walk on eggshells quite so much back in the Tmobile Galaxy S XDA forum ...
Okay I changed it to "compared to" instead of "vs" in the body of my post ... is that less "inflammatory?"
Why would people get upset about picking one OS over the other? It's not like you designed the damn things. What's wrong with asking which one you think is faster for memory intensive apps? I'm not trolling. I just don't get it.

I agree completely that ics in general looks much better than gb. I like the feel of it better too, for lack of a better word. But since I use Launcher Pro it doesn't make that much difference what the UI looks like for me. I have noticed that some games are sluggish with ics or do not run at all, but that could be more of an issue on the game developers end, I guess ... Do you have any issues connecting your phone to a computer with ics? The process seems much more cumbersome than with gb--with gb I just plug in a USB cable and tap mass storage and that is it.
Went to stock gingerbread from jb. Gingerbread is very smooth. Only thing i miss from ics/ jb is task manager and full screen browser (stock browser)
This thread is pointless, no offense meant, because of the following:

Only thing I've suffered from is a bit of mem leak... a reboot a day solves that, sometimes two. This guy is being killed by mem leak. Why is it different? Each phone is different just like each grape on a vine is different.
Different views, different experience, same phone, same ROM.
The same things can be said for ICS vs GB. Different issues, different opinions, same phone, same ROM. Let's not forget that I may FULL wipe and run the kernel cleaning script before each flash and someone else may just wipe cache and dalvik. That right there is enough for one of us to have a problem the other doesn't. Let's not forget about the different tweaks you can do which add even MORE variables to why one ROM or kernel may run better for you than me... even on the same settings.

GB. I believe it offers the best experience for our device. I've been on ICS for a while and the only thing holding me is the beautiful UI changes in AOSP. So far, it's been enough to keep me put. I doubt most people care about it that much though.
