updates come from 2 parties.

If manufacturer won't update it, then it's all up to developers. sorry but i highly doubt someone will be willing to develop a new rom for this tab

Upgrading OS in mobile is same like upgrading windows. Along with new user interface you can also get security updates and more additional features such as improved battery life, etc. Upgrading OS also lets you install new apps that aren't supported by older versions. I also found that games like Doodle Jump, Nin Jump, etc run more smoothly in gengerbread than in froyo.
I am not aware about CDMA version as I have a GSM model. But, I think it depends on OS (I'm not sure about it though).

Just spoke with the Samsung Technical staff with regards to the upgrade to my phone which is also a Samsung Galaxy POP CDMA. You will have to call them and they will give you details of the nearest service center where you will have to take your phone and get the upgrade to Gingerbread. They are currently not allowing it from their website.

[Q] Upgrading Android on a chinese tablet

Hello,
I would like to buy the cheapest tablet I can find. I found an eBay insertion featuring a Chinese tablet running Android 2.1.
While I wait for the seller to provide me (if known) some information about brand and model name to find more information about this device, I would like to ask a couple of questions that might sound stupid a little for you experts, but as I don't know much about the Android OS I'm still going to ask (if this was WinMo, I already knew the answer was NO)
1. Is it possible to upgrade Android to a newer version, ie. Gingerbread or even Honeycomb, on any device that supports it? Like, some kind of software upgrade tool? Or, how could somebody make an upgraded ROM without spending months in reasearching, experimenting and breaking?
2. Is it possible at least to root devices like the one I mentioned?
Thank you

I want to know too. I have a Chinese dual SIM which I would like to update. Is there a standard or generic Android OS updater?

Of course not. There are many different devices, so is very difficult develop a tool like that.
To both: The updates are device-dependant, so you need to wait for updates from your manufacturer device. However, you can try a ROM developed for the chipset of your device (you can get the model using CPU Identifier). Of course, this way gives no guaranties of good functionality.

Sorry for my bad question and thank you for your reply.
My vendor doesn't provide the update for my device.
It is a Malaysia production smartphone.
My question are, can I just simply upgrade my version from 4.0.4 to stock android 4.4 from google?
Any specific system requirements for upgrade version?

no you can't, if your vendor doesn't give the update, you can't just simply update it, ,
but, if you can or understand about android programming, you can build it your self from the Source, like AOSP, Cyanogen, etc...

yea. That is what I am looking for but sadly I am not the programmer.
Waiting any expert to build it.
I don’t think you should to wait. There won’t be much or no support for these phones. Your best bet is to root and remove any unwanted system apps.
Highest I tried JB 4.1.1

Does anybody know a ROM with vanilla android and the tablet ui?
I'm just fed up with the new android version with their unusable tablet interfaces, so i wanted an old ROM that still has a Tablet ui. Unforunately most of the old download links are dead but i'm sure somebody here can help me.

You didn't specify device model, without it will be difficult to help you.
Also to restore tablet ui you can use mod for 4.2.2 firmware or Xposed module for 4.4.4

I logged in after about 3 years and realised, that I never responded. Thank you very much. I'm now using LineageOS and the Tablet is still running. And I guess Android Tablets are dead but I'm planning to use this one as long as possible.
