Beastmode Plus Edition Kernel
Just cuz we are GPL Compliant:
Kernel was sourced from stock HTcdev source found at htcdev.com
here is the changes i have made to the aforementioned source
https://github.com/Team-Blackout/Beastmode_plus_edition_evitare
Changes made to source:
Sweep2wake
Mpdecision
Governors
IO schedulers
Things to come:
OC
UV
ThermalD
you tell me
SHARING POLICY:
if you compile it you can haz it
my reason for this is that i dont own this device and dont want to maintain yet another kernel thread for a phone i dont own
How to compile it you ask??
Compiling my source:
There are some requirements
You must be building in a 64bit Linux environment i find ubuntu easiest to work on
you can run native or virtualize it
Since I use ubuntu ill go ahead and list steps used to build with that
first things first you need to get into a terminal window and run
Code:
sudo apt-get udpate && sudo apt-get upgrade -y
sudo apt-get install cmake make automake ia32-libs
Then download
http://releases.linaro.org/12.12/co...12.12-2-2012-12-12_14-52-41-linux-x86.tar.bz2
untar and place in your home directory you should rename the folder to:
android-toolchain-eabi
following that you will want a copy of the source.
Code:
git clone git://github.com/Team-Blackout/Beastmode_plus_edition_evitare.git
Part A. Pre-build Steps
A. Open terminal and change to the root of your kernel directory
Code:
cd Beastmode_plus_edition_evitare
Type "export ARCH=arm"
Type "export CROSS_COMPILE=~/android-toolchain-eabi/bin/arm-eabi-"
Type "make beastmode_defconfig"
Type "make -j2"
Sit back wait and profit your final product will exist in /arch/arm/boot/zImage
you can use the DSI kitchen to pack unpack your image etc

So is it really optional to flash boot.img separately or should I do it for sure? I'm coming from maXimusATT rom. The optional part just threw me off. Ahaha, I rather it say do it for sure.

we say optional because it isn't needed to use the ROM but (and its a big one) if you want full adb support, init.d support and full insecure it is recommended that you flash it. hopefully once we get s-off we will be able to incorporate boot.img and kernel into the rom zip proper.

Unfortunately the USA HOX+ and the International HOX+ are different but in the same thread you seem to be from the US so I take it this is a AT&T rom? If not please correct me if I'm wrong and post what RUU in the O.P. so people dont get confused and brick. thx it looks pretty clean I'm looking forward to trying it out if at all possible.

I'm pleased to present my MoDaCo Custom ROM for the Google Nexus One! READ THIS WHOLE POST BEFORE YOU START! No, really, it contains everything you need to know.
About MoDaCo Custom ROMs
MoDaCo Custom ROMs are based on official ROMs - either shipping or leaked. A MCR release is designed to feel as far as possible like a stock ROM, with optimisations, tweaks and complimentary additions that enhance the user experience. The aim of a MCR is to be ultra reliable for use on an everyday device.
Requirements
In order to use this ROM on your device, you must have a custom recovery image installed. You can read more about how to install a CRI on your device in this topic.
Features
Based on the EPF30 release
Rooted with Superuser 2.1 by ChainsDD
Built with the MCR build process which reduces the size and boosts the speed of the ROM
Teknologist's Custom Kernel (TCK 0.8). This is based on the official .33 repositories, with only minor tweaks. The ROM is undervolted only for low frequencies in line with Qualcomm's recommendations.
Rooted boot image with 'adb remount' permission and superuser APK
busybox with Droid Explorer support
terminfo and settings in boot.img to allow nano etc. use
HTC Sense Live Wallpapers
Jbed Java
OpenVPN binary
Updated Google Maps
Coloured trackball notifications and Trackball alert compatible
HTC_IME to jonasl's v25, based on my Desire leak
System dalvik-cache moved to /cache partition
MCR version displayed in 'About' screen
Optional dropbear (SSH server, username 'root, port 2222, password displayed in 'About' screen)
Optional A2SD and A2SD+ via the online kitchen
Optional JIT r2 by gr0gmint via the online kitchen
Optional baked in Wavesecure via the online kitchen (installed to system partition for maximum security)
Optional WiFi Status indicator
De-odexed for you themers out there!
Changelog
Please see 2 posts below this one for the changes in each release.
Installation
To install this ROM:
Ensure you have a custom recovery image installed (see 'requirements' above)
Download the zip file of your choice from the links below (or the online kitchen) and copy to your SD card
Restart your device in recovery mode (power on with the volume down button held and select 'Recovery')
PERFORM A NANDROID BACKUP FROM THE MENU
Select the option to apply an update zip, and select the zip file you copied to your memory card
Upgrading
No wipe is explicitly required in order to use this ROM, however if you do encounter issues of any kind, it is recommended that you wipe your device and reproduce the issue before raising it here.

This ROM is now available in an online kitchen! In addition to the kitchen, 3 prebaked downloads are available - a version with the default set of MoDaCo additions, a version with the default set of additions, a version with the default set of additions and A2SD, a version with Chinese input and a version with no optional additions at all.
Included in default additions - Spare Parts, Titanium Backup, WaveSecure, WiFi Status Indicator, Wireless Tether, Wired Tether, Dropbear

It's impossible to mention everyone who contributes to the Android community by name, but to everyone out there who does great work and shares it with us all - you have my gratitude and respect.
And finally...
Details on how to support my work should you wish to do so (any contributions are gratefully received) are available on the download page.

So basically, the the motivation for one to use this rom vs. Cyanogen's ROM comes down to user preference? Sorry if I sound stupid, I am very greatful for the work all the dev's do for the community, just wondering what benefits might be gained from using this ROM vs. Cyanogen's i.e. performance gains.
the rom is very fast buddy thanks .... but how can i disable se request ?
but I feel that Cyanogen's build has good in term of battery life.
anyone can confirm? I even using the ER27 still not good

How to do logcat (Windows, the easy way)
1. Make sure you have HTC drivers installed on your computer. Hint...it helps to have your phone plugged into the computer when installing.
2. Download ADB and fastboot.
3. Extract them. Add the folder path to where you extracted them to the windows command line. OR, you can just open a command window (shift+right click) in the same folder as ADB and run the command there. If you need help adding them to the folder path, follow this guide.
4. Now we need to have a command window. In the ADB folder, or in any folder of your choosing if you added ADB to the system path, press shift+right click on an empty spot in the folder. This will open a context menu where you can pick "open command window here". Do that.
5. Connect your phone to your computer using a USB cable if you hadn't already.
If you did everything right, you should be able to type "adb devices" and see something like the following:
List of devices attached
HTXXXXXXXXXX device
If you don't see that, then you may need to check your drivers, check that developer mode is enabled in settings>developer options> and that "USB Debugging" is enabled, and that you're able to access ADB from command line.
6. Now...what all this work is for...type the following and press enter:
Code:
adb logcat > logfile.txt
7. Wait a few seconds, then press ctrl+c. Upload logfile.txt to the forum hurr and I can take a look-see.
Notes:
A logcat is a full record of prettymuch everything your phone does from boot to shutdown. It does not reveal any personal information, just the details of what apps did what to whom.
The value of "logfile.txt" in the command used is whatever you want it to be. It could be shoeface.txt or doghouse.txt or EltonJohn.log...it's just a name. In windows, it's nice to designate a standard plain-text extension just so you don't have to constantly pick which app to open the file with.
Adb is very powerful. You can use it to push and pull files from the phone with almost the same capacity as a Recovery program, you can install programs, and use adb shell to access the phone as if you were working directly from it in a terminal program. I highly recommend learning how to use it fully, because it's an awesome tool to have.
Debug should be enabled by default, but if it's not, you can enable it under "developer options" in settings.
Hell yes! Downloading!
Awww yeaaaah! More awesomeness!
Will give this a try later. Sounds like a dope rom though.
Cool beans!!!
Awesome. I'm gonna give this a shot!
Also, have a good trip!

Okay, I'll have to try that one later. 1.58 bootloops for me. Just as an FYI for everyone
We are currently reviewing some things with this rom and trying to resolve them with digitalhigh
Thread reopened and I would like to thank digital high for being very cooperative with the mod staff. Enjoy your new rom.
love the effort, but i noticed that there are problems mounting the SD to browse files as a HD on my comp. There is no way i can see to get it to mount. I can mount the sd via usb on 4ext and other roms

What version was that? Can anybody else try SD stuff and let me know? I keep my Google pass on my SD Card, so I usually require it when I do an install.

it was the MIUI_2.12.28_SHOOTER_JB_DH.zip version. Also, for some reason the goo.im updater says that there is an update too and it is the same file available for download. I will try reinstalling and wiping again
edit: so i did a full wipe and the problem is there; no toggle available for usb and 'ask on connection' under storage settigns is not working.
Also, the goo.im updater is still saying there is an update with the same file name (as your link) as the update
I'll look into why the button to switch on hd mount isn't showing up. That's happening to me this release as well. What's weird is that I think it did show up a few times for me. Off the top of my head it looks like I may have forgotten to take out this weird property that xiaomi puts in the storage config xml. I should be able to take care of that quick.
Pacman for the 3vo CDMA
Is it me or is the camera app missing? Nice rom btw

Sweeet, man! I'm going to download this ROM right now. I hope Sixaxis works with this ROM.

Should work on the x920e, just have to change the updater-script file that looks for the DNA before installing. I've done it using J Butterfly Rom's so should work the same for this Rom.
For those brave souls on the x920e, this is what you would need to do (thanks SharpISO3):
open up the ROM, navigate to the META-INF/com/google/android/ folder. Inside that folder, you'll see the updater-script file. Extract it to some folder on your computer. Open the updater-script file, it's probably best to use Notepad++.
With that file open, find the lines assert(getprop("ro.product.device") == "dlxj" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "dlxj"); - it's near the top. You can either replace the 'dlxj' values with the x920e values, or just delete the line entirely. Once that's done, save the file, then put the file back into the ROM, replacing what's inside.
After that, try flashing.
Can i flash Cubed Write/System Kernel?
EDIT:
I flash the Cubed Stock Write to System Kernel, works fine,I delete what I do not need.
I have also created a stock battery% in the UOT kitchen if it needs someone just say modest

I can not get tmobile apn settings to go in. I go and save them and then it just says there is no sim card in the device even though i have signal. Calls and text work but no data unless on wifi. I would love to run this rom but no data on tmobile
First, I'm using HTC DNA (Verizon).
Is there any one using AT&T sim card? I did do the full wipe of data, cache, system. Actually, i also accidentally deleted my sdcard partition. Anyway, when booting into this ROM, I did get the full bar of AT&T signal. However, there are couple problems.
1. During the setup process, there is not English (United States). So, I do use English (United Kingdom) to continue.
2. This is more serious problem. Even getting the AT&T signal, when I went to the APN settings, it keeps saying no SIM is detected. I tried to add a new APN (since none existed at all) to set up the mobile network. Upon saving, it still showed me "No SIM is detected" and not saving the APN I just entered.
3. Not sure if instruction is missing a step. I don't think the installation via CWM or TWRP flash the boot.img. I have to extract it out of zip and flash via fastboot. Is this correct?
Thanks.

I am from Austria and I also have the DNA is mine operator "3", I installed Rom and for me the operator settings are set automatically, so I had not set the APN itself.
Because of the language I do not know, for me it was German / Austria to choose
Yes you need to flash the Boot.img via fastboot flash boot boot.img
So far everything is running great umd I noticed nothing is bad, this is a very good Rom
But I flashed the Stock Cubed write to system kernel with the modules of course
I hope you understand my bad Englisch language.

Google Services Framework Fix (step by step instructions)This will fix Play Store issuesMAKE A NAND BACKUP OF YOUR NON WORKING ROM
Code:
STEP 1: Restore a working backup (one you know play store worked on)
STEP 2: Download a windows android file browser (I recommend Android Comander)
STEP 3: Connect your device to your PC, Open the android file browser
STEP 4: Browse to /data/data and locate "com.google.android.gsf"
STEP 5: Copy the folder from STEP 4 to your sdcard (remember this location)
STEP 6: Restore your non working ROM from in recovery, Reboot
STEP 7: using a root explorer (or the windows android browser) locate the folder from STEP 5
STEP 8: Copy the folder from STEP 5 into /data/data make sure you choose to overwrite the folder and files
STEP 9: Reboot (You must reboot first, do not immediately try to open play store)
STEP 10: Once rebooted test Play Store, Google Plus and Hangouts all should work fine.
I realize this seems like a daunting task just to fix the Play Store,
but there is no easier way at this point to accomplish this the Google account MUST exist before restoring this folder
in order for the fix to work.

Insecure boot image lets you use adb remount, and adb push or adb pull etc. to /system and its contents.
also the included boot image has init.d support, sdcard performance tweaks and evitareul_common tweaks. so you will get better performance when streaming large video files or playing music from your /data/media folder

***Disclaimer***I am not responsible if you break your stuff. Use at own risk!
I am not a developer and do not pretend to be one. I'm an Android enthusiast.
Why no Aroma?
Because I've made this ROM to my liking for myself, removing apps I'd never use. I have no need for a customized installer. I'm sharing this with you all because I'm sure there's somebody else who wants a simple, optimized ROM with the basic, stable features. If you want more options or customizations, this ROM isn't for you.
No complaints
I do this in my spare time.
Special requests
I'll accept special requests, but that doesn't mean they'll come true.
Bug Reports
Bug reports are welcome! Keep in mind: This is mostly stock and most bugs will be official firmware bugs.

There are currently two versions of S Note installed. The orange-red icon is the new version which is available on the GS5 as a "Galaxy ESSENTIAL". The brown icon is the stock Note 8 version. I may remove one of them in future updates.
STOCK KERNEL AND RECOVERY
Download this zip file and extract. The kernel (boot) and recovery are in their own .tar.md5 archives. Flash each in ODIN.
yay!
@MrHyde03
Regarding the S-pen cursor offset (cursor when hovering above a text with the pen), I fixed it in the framework (for the s-pen pointer I'm still waiting for kernel source, I mailed samssung yesterday for the source)
Here is the file for the framework file.
Decompile the framework and drop it in res/drawable-tvdpi.
When compiling the framework again it will throw some errors.
To slove this:
Go to res/drawable-tvdpi and remove the following files
tw_scrubber_control_focused_holo_red.PNG
tw_scrubber_control_holo_red.PNG
Then go to res/values/strings
open that file and on the line 1795 remove the % before the d and before the 2$s
it should look like this
Code:
<string name="wifi_p2p_enter_pin_dialog_message">Enter the PIN and tap Connect within d seconds to connect to 2$s.</string>
now compile and the errors will be gone.

Awesome. You just saved me some time.:highfive: Also, you don't have to delete the two PNGs, just change the extension from PNG to png. I also emailed Samsung on Saturday but have not had as much as a peep from them. Aren't they required under GPL to release the source when their software is released?
Anyways, thanks again Civ.
Updated to Release 2! Check Change Log for details.
Clean flashing to R2 is broken. Only works if dirty flashing. Because of this I've pulled R2 from the download. Go back to R1 if you're having issues with booting. I know what the issues are, I just don't have time tonight. It's late.
I've udpated the download URL to reflect R1.

Yep they should release it . But some delay is expected.
Fixed the issues from R2. R3 is out and stable.
I could not get R2 to boot at all past the Samsung splash. I'll download R3 tonight. Thank you.

Release 4
Deodexed /system/app, /system/framework, and /system/priv-app
I was beginning to think this ROM wasn't going to install for me. I did an MD5 check - it passed. I flashed the new bootloader firmware and then flashed the PhilZ recovery. Tried to install the ROM and got an Error: Status 7. Tried the newer CivZ recovery and same thing.
Finally got it to install using TWRP 2.6.3 (my favorite, anyway).
Now going to try restoring data from v2.1 and see how that goes.

That is odd.. I flashed and reflashed and wiped then reflashed over and over to make sure I didn't have any more duds like R2 was and haven't had any issues with R4. Regardless, I'm glad you got it to flash.
Let me know if you have any other issues.

Well, don't try restoring data from v2.1, it'll just cause tons of crashes and an error message that the Android UID doesn't match. Guess I'll be TiBU-ing this morning. Just as well, I see that R4 just posted...

If you're restoring from the same version recovery the backup was created with, then you shouldn't have any issues. That's been my experience. I've always had things break if I restore with a different recovery.
Should you update the firmware to the new Canadian firmware found on samfirmware? It was released after the UK firmware and Canada is closer to the US but there are probably no differences... just asking
