how to re-lock to the network? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I bought the phone and it is locked onto the network,so I bought the codes from ebay, and I don't know if the warranty is still valid because it is unlocked. So, is there a simple way to lock it to the network again? Or, there is no need to re-lock it because they can't see it its unlocked because I used a code. Thanks

Network lock has nothing to do with warranty .

Apparently in my country it does. They check if the phone is locked and then they try to repair it ...

You can't relock it unless you got a backup of the EFS folder.
What country are you in? Most providers may try funny business but that does not mean it actually would be legal for them to do

[q] how to unlock my s3 to my operator

I CANT USE ANY OTHER SIM...
is there any way to unlock my phone to my operator?
Some more info would be nice?
1. Place of Purchase?
2. Which carrier?
3. Contract or Sim-Free

Sim free dont need unlocking .
Two routes paid for unlock via the network its locked to or another paid for unlocking service .
Or via a hack from XDA to unlock if and when that's available like it was on SGS2 .

International version, root, warranty

Hi guys,
I am about to buy the S III international/European version. I would like to use it with a sim card I already have from a different carrier, and thus I will need to unlock it. The research I did though tells me that I need to first root it which is not reversible and I will void my warranty because of the counter cannot be reset.
I am not interested to put any roms or anything, I just want to use it with a different carrier from my country. So can someone confirm that rooting it will void my warranty or that has been overcome already. If not, will it be possible in the future, say in the next month or so?
You can root it and you can use voodoo sim unlock from the play store and that will unlock your phone.
Afterwards if you need to you can use triangle away which will reset the counter to zero and Samsung will be none the wiser if you have to send it back for warranty.

Cool, so I am safe to root & unlock. You can reverse the process on the intl version as opposed to the US version. Sweet!
Have a look at the video in my signature.

Replacement s3 locked, unlock code?

Just had my t-mobile UK galaxy s3 changed as the micro usb conection failed.
problem is the new handset is locked and i need to be able to use my swiss orange sim when i travel.
I have looked into this and seen a couple of methods but all i want is the unlock code.
is there a method and i dont mind paying a reasonable fee, but not to mob operator!
Why not request the unlock code from your network operator? It may be free.

It's only free (on some networks) if you've been with them on the same line for a long time.

It unlocked my S3, apparently permanently since I have wipe several times

Unlocking the S3

I have an S3 I9300 on OmegaROM V42 and 4.1.2 which is factory locked to my network.
I would like to unlock the phone so it will take any SIM card.
What is the easiest/quickest way to achieve that?
A way that hopefully I do not need to restore my data.
Insert your new SIM card and turn the phone on, when prompted enter the sim unlock code you obtained from your current network.
There is currently no 'free' way to unlock.

If your phone is the i9300 it's already unlocked.

Weird answer, network lock is present on all i9300 phones on bought via a network contract.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
Yes it is definitely locked but the operator will not unlock until contract ends.
What about something like the GalaxSIM app from the play store?
Will that do it?

No, it won't.

best option try a third party unlock website
or also certain users on ebay offer a fast cheap unlock service for many networks

Instead of starting a new thread I'll ask here. Does anybody know of a good third party unlocking site? I'm trying to unlock a phone for my friend, but I'm not sure where it's from... possibly it's an international version? Any way to find out what it's locked to?

there were threads about that, but I think that things have changed so much that the processes that were talked about are now extinct.

anyway can anyone help me?
need to unlock the sim card for all operators but can not find a solution.
I saw several links that say get the unlock code but are paid and have not seen any reference in forums on reliable sites. does anyone know any programs or trusted site and that really get the unlock code?
Thank you for your cooperation.
Unlock codes can be purchased online for just a few bucks. Idk if I'm allowed to list sites here or not but here is the one I use the most for unlocking phones Cellunlocker.net I've unlock alot of phones with their service for just a few bucks. I think the last time I unlocked a Atrix 4G it cost about $15

I'm assuming by "unlock" you mean unlocking the bootloader and then flash a custom rom. This wouldn't gsm unlock a phone to a different carrier.

when i unlocked mine it now shows all networks when i have no sim card installed. havent tried another carriers sim card in it to see if it works sorry if i was incorrect.
I'm on the same boat, I bought an Atrix 4g on amazon which was supposed to be gsm unlocked, but the only thing it had unlocked was the bootloader. I couldn't return it since I'm from Venezuela so I have to look for a way to unlock it.
I went to a store where they do this kind of stuff, the guy had some "zunzun" software to do it but it said something about the firmware being incompatible (android 2.3.6 4.5.141), I guess if downgrading doesn't work I'll end up buying an unlock code on one of those websites. I preferred the other method because I can pay with the local coin instead of buying expensive dollars...
@rdz420, please update if you manage to unlock it.
I've unlocked my Atrix 4G here, they are legit and it's cheap.

Take in mind that some AT&T phones can't be unlocked via code.. that's what they told me. (Mine is UK Orange, so I could unlock it :good
hey guys
I did not unlock the phone yet, but I spent a few shops that do unlocking here in Brazil, the majority says that the cel need to try to generate the code, but how they are generating the code? will be a trusted site?
Besides this method gave some research on kernel change, it seems that with the change of kernel + rom the phone would be unlocked with the network. right? anyone have any positive experience in the area?
thanks
Bootloader unlock = you can flash roms
sim unlock = you can use on other networks
One does not rely on the other, and i haven't seen any issues with one affecting the other

As @palmbeach05 said, both are independant. Bootloader unlock (thus installing new roms and kernels) doesn't unlock for any carrier and sim unlock by itself won't allow you to install new roms and kernels.
Hit the damn thanks button instead!
