Should I dump the DNA for the N2? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

Hey guys, so I sold my GS3 for the Droid DNA and I actually do like the phone so far. I wanted to try something different and this screen is definitely beautiful.
With that being said, I am strongly considering exchanging within my 14 days and getting the N2. The battery life will be much better on the N2 and I will get removable storage and battery and will gain the s pen.
I know that nobody can make the decision for me, but please give me your opinions. Good idea?
Thanks!

I actually have both.
I bought the DNA for the screen resolution and Sense, then decided to also try out the Note 2 with the intention of just returning the Note 2 because I figured it would be too big. Well it's bigger but I fell in love with it. I have not put my SIM back in my DNA since I came home. The only reason I keep it is because I like to have a current sense device to use/play with once in awhile.
Once you start using this 5.5in screen, it is REALLY hard to use anything else. The DNA screen feels so small now. What the Note 2 lacks in screen resolution it more than makes up for with deep blacks and popping colors.
The DNA is a sweet device. However, IMO, the Note 2 is just in another league as far as usability and features. Battery life? You cannot even compare the two. The DNA must be recharged at some point but the Note 2 ALWAYS makes it thru the day for me. I have never had an Android device with battery life this long.
Two and a half weeks ago I'd never used a device this big, now I don't really see myself using anything else in the future. Note 3 or bust

On the surface the DNA has the nicer screen, both have 16GB of internal storage but the ext. sd card plus the S-Pen features and multi-window are worth it for me to pass right by the DNA. I will say unless Verizon starts going 32GB as a base model I will have to switch carriers and go international units with 32GB or more.

You pretty much hit the nail on the head! I toyed with the decision to get the DNA too but I could not use it as my daily driver so that makes it a useless device IMO... It does have excellent specs beside the 2 FATAL flaws. I loved the S3 but it could not make it through the day, BUT I had the option of quickly replacing the battery and movin on where as you don't with the DNA. If I am gonna drop this much cash it's gotta have the 2 things that the DNA does not have. Bad decision on Verizon's part to gimp that phone and even a worse decision for HTC to allow them to do that to a flagship device!

I could not of said it any better! :highfive:

I got the DNA on release day and took it back once the note 2 came out. At first I was torn about replacing it but once I used the note 2 for a day I never looked back. The DNA is a find device in itself but battery life was prime for me and the note 2 gets me through an entire day.

The dna is a nice phone I use both its a toss up the battery isn't that bad imo it's also very comfortable in the hand... I like both but I can do more with the n2 but the dna is very fast and sharp in the end it's what you want and like

Change it and you wont regret it. At first I found the note 2 kind of big, then I get to it and now all of the other phone are mini. Plus you will get a battery that last the whole day and removable storage!

i really wish the android community showed its disapproval at vzw crippling the dna by not buying it.
seriously, vzw is finally getting people off unlimited plans, then forces htc to release a device with very limited storage to push the data...... and people actually bought it?

My gf just got the DNA. It's a really nice phone. I'm actually jealous but I think overall the bigger the screen the better to me. I can deal with the battery and lack of sd card.

I think you are making a good move, as long as you DONOT mind the 5.5 inch screen. Not everyone can get used to it. It is harder to single-handedly handle it in a busy situation (holding things on the other hand while incoming call rings etc etc)
But I have big hands, I can handle it single handedly pretty easy so I love the phone.
Screen of 1080p is big selling point, but your eyes will get used to it sooner rather than later. 720p aren't bad , of course. it is good enough to watch 720p HD movie for me. Oh, you need a strong battery to watch movies like that ... which Note 2 can take the task.
I must mention, while many people here may disagree or don't appreciate as much, is Samsung's software power. it is just getting incredible. It has many small surprised that will make you feel like you use same buck but banged more features.
Like quick glance, smart alert, S-Pen series of apps, Photo Desk, AND one more tip, VIDEO PLAYING ON TOP OF EVERYTHING...
I have a blog entry about this. Check this out.

I'm not sure about others but I barely use the s-pen anymore I thought I'd be more active with it but at work it seemed to slow me down

Thanks guys, I really do appreciate all of the feedback!
This is still a tough decision for me. I haven't had a HTC phone in a while so it's kind of fresh. At the same time the N2 will put me back in a comfort zone coming from the S3.
Let me ask this.... If removable storage and battery wasn't a huge issue, would you still choose the N2 over the DNA?
Thanks guys!

Spen to me seemed kind of gimmicky or something (but it kind of needs one) It'd be good for draw something though right!? Lol. Me want the n2 but I think I'm going to wait for the n3. I'm just hella bored with my rezound.

The more I use both the dna is more comfortable to use if it had ext storage I think many users would of went that direction especially since the screen n processor are superior... but I seem to use my note 2 more it's tough by a note2 and use both lol

I thought I was not using much of it too. But it tends out to be incorrect IN MY CASE. Of course it is different everyone .
After watching over 36 youtube videos made by that guy in Korea about tips of using Galaxy Note 2, I really feel that it has strong features that can really make a difference to the way we work/live. To me, that is the ultimate reason for chasing new technology --- to make my life better (either simpler or more efficient)
Today in a meeting at work, I took the pen out to take notes. about 10 pages over all. It is GREAT. It looked professional with a pen in your hand in meeting environment, very different from some MDs using iPad with fingers to take note,iPad always makes people feel that you are slacking or playing.
It is like Blackberry vs iPhone. Still, I think the former gives most people a more professional feeling. Latter one more hippy/casual/fun.
my 2 cents.

Hell yeah...

Honesty, yes I would. I happen to have had, and continue to have access to both. For me, the feature set on the Note 2 is just too impressive/useful compared to the DNA. There are so many cool things to do with the s-pen and multi-window/pop-up browser that I just couldn't (or at least really wouldn't want to) live without.

Note 2 or Droid DNA?

Thinking bout switching to Verizon from Tmobile and I have the Note 2 with Tmobile now was wondering how Verizons Note 2 is and how everyone like it? I either am going with the Note 2 or Droid DNA. I love my Note 2 that I have now with Tmobile.

I love my Note 2 but then again I only had it for 2 days. I had a S3 and it was between the Note 2 and DNA for me, my job was out of the DNA so I got the Note 2 and boy am I happy. I had a buddy of mine bring in the DNA so I could see it and it is nice main thing it has going for it is the display and the built in wireless charging. It does have a nice solid feel to it also but my reasons for choosing the Note 2 was it still felt a lot bigger, expandable memory, removable battery, and S-Pen. The only reason I think anyone would get a DNA over a Note 2 is if they are loyal to HTC, love HTC Sense, or don't want a phone as big as the Note 2

No offense but you will either regret getting the DNA or you wont know what you're missing. The GNote2 trumps the DNA in nearly every respect, besides the obvious larger screen on the Note, it has a MASSIVE battery, compared to the tiny NON removable one in the DNA, it only has 10GB of storage (other 6gb are taken by Android and Sense), on the Note it's expandable all the way to 80GB! the S-pen is great for precision and doodling.. the only real advantage the DNA has is screen size, and its worthless because you can't load any 1080p movies on it without taking every inch of the tiny space you're allowed, and even if you could the tiny battery would die so fast it's not even worth it.
I've read several people saying they've taken back the DNA for the Note 2, I've never heard the opposite. Don't be intimidated by the Note's size, it only took me a couple hours before it seemed normal and natural and all other phones seemed tiny.

I think if you already have a note 2 you won't like the DNA. I played with one at my local vzw and I didn't like it. Yeah the resolution is a little better but the icons are so tiny compared to the N2. It's not even close really.

I played with both in store for about 1.5 hours, starting with the Note 2. After coming from another HTC phone and hearing about problems with Samsung phones (such as radio and GPS, in the past). I still went with the Note and haven't experienced any of those issues. The removable battery is nice along with the 50% off accessories. And every review of the Note 2 I have read, show the bigger battery last longer, than the DNA. Which for me was the biggest selling point. Where I work lots of people use iOS devices and the one that transitions from android, battery life was their biggest complaint. There are quite a few innovation on the Note 2, like the motion feature and multi view feature are so unique.
I forgot to factor in non removable battery and no expandable memory. Going with the Marble White Note 2 then. Now how does everyone like Verizon overall?

I came from T-Mobile(was probably with them for 15 years), and had the S3. I absolutely love Verizon and love my Note 2...you couldn't pay me to trade in my Note for a DNA! My only initial hesitation was development, but as you can see that's no longer an issue!

hate much?
Some people are going to want a clear more accurate screen. Some people are not going to be able to handle the note 2 one handed. Some don't install 2gb games on their phones. Each person has their own use case.
Personally, going to try the Note 2. I can live with the non-removable battery, but really want the sd card slot. Amazing how Verizon continues to neuter HTC phones, yet Samsung does whatever they want...
And most people are getting really good battery life on the DNA, even better than some of y'all on the Note 2. HTC did a good job with power mgmt and turned down max brightness (disappointing).

Note 2 all the way ive watched DNA Videos and allthough 1080p is woah crazy for a phone nothing is optimized for that yet same as apples retina it took nearly a year for apps to take advantage of that it will be good for Video playback but thats it.
Everything else i believe the note 2 does better it looks professional not like a toy like the DNA. It has the S Pen which at first i was like well yah i wont use that but i find my self using it quite alot for Drawing apps or jotting down quick notes like Get milk or an address it does indeed come in handy but not a deal breaker imo plus Samsung has its AllCast to match samsung devices tvs etc project everything wireless's to your tv or even if you dont have a samsung tv £50 on a Samsung allcast dongle and blam slap that bad boy in a hdmi slot on your tv wireless connect to your phone and project what you want anywhere anytime i use it alot to take around family's houses esspecially with xmas coming up and show photos or video on the tv instead of everyone crowding around me holding the phone, i could go on and on about my love for the note 2 but end of the day everyone gets what they want and everyone likes different things. I hope your decision is the right one for you
Had the DNA for about a week before returning it for the Note2... here is my opinion... DNA had a better screen and Sence is nicer looking.. The DNA is also much easer to handle one handed... The Note2 is faster has better battery like and takes better pictures.. other pluses for the note2 include removable battery and expandable storage.

Try downloading Go Launcher EX and pick themes i use the Glass theme for like £1 the launcher its self is free and loads of free themes. looks way better than sense and touchwiz imo i dont like either stock layouts.
i agree the note 2 is for sure not a 1 handed phone but look at it this way .... who said a phone has to be one handed ? and which phone is the best 2 handed phone on the market ? if you play any thing in land scape your naturally use one to hold one to operate.. the only reason my phone is ever in portrait mode is for phone calls which i can hold the note 2 in one hand to my ear just fine ..
I think we are getting to a place in phones where 2 hands are more comfortable anyways they are able to do more and more every year and if your texting or taping out a email for a long haul message i bet 90% of people put it in landscape and use 2 thumbs regardless of size .. so personally i think after 1 week of this big phone i felt comfortable using it coming from 4 years on a iphone now when i pick my iphone up (yep still cant bring my self to sell it lol) it feels way to small to do anything.
I would say its preference. I'm burnt out with sense even though I know its not as cumbersome as it used to be. I'm also not a huge fan of touch wiz but we'll have a stable cm10 soon. I've had the Note 2 for a little over a week and have played with the DNA quite a few times and its a beautiful phone but the Note 2 is just that much better "for me". I would suggest going to a Verizon store and asking a rep if you can play around with the DNA for a while and see what ya think (camera, sense 4.5, how it feels in your pocket etc). Whichever phone you choose its pure win!

This. My brother has a DNA I see it every day and while the screen is so beautiful I don't want to go to sense and I love the pen on the note. And I have a bigger battery and an sd card slot which is more useful then I thought. I feel like the note 2 is a phone you can have for longer then a year or more but the dna I don't see that...Its a nice phone though. Either one are awesome devices.

Need some opinions on s3 vs note 2

OK. So I have the chance to get the note 2 at the discount upgrade price (currently $199 on amazon) I currently have the s3 and I like it. My friend got a note 2 and I didn't get to play with it much aside from holding it for a minute. So I want to ask the folks who have made the same switch If you would do it again or if its not worth it. Just to get a few things out of the way. I have huge hands so that's not an issue. I also like to flash ROMs and have root, how is the devolpment compared to the s3? Thanks for any responses.

Best phone I've ever had and the best Verizon currently has to offer. If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask. I've used both extensively. NoteII on a TW custom rom FTW!

Battery life is awesome. Haven't completely drained it yet and I'm a heavy user. Screen sensitivity is perfect. I seriously haven't a complaint yet. The only issue I have is the Verizon branding on the home button. Battery, reception, call quality are fantastic. Actually the visibility in sunlight isn't too great but that is seriously the only thing I can think of.
I got the S3 on release day and then the Note II. I think the Note II blows it out of the water in almost every single way. The only place that the S3 was better at was the audio. The music out of the 3.5 mm headphone jack is not as punchy and seems to have a tighter range in general on the Note 2 compared to the S3, in my opinion. It's a minor disappointment that is by no means a deal breaker though, I listen to music on it all the time and you can tweak the equalizer to compensate somewhat.

I had the Galaxy Nexus for like ten days. I couldn't stand the battery life and the bad reception. Honestly, that phone was a big turn off for me when it came to Samsung. It was one of the reasons why I went back to my iPhone 4S.
Now the Note is a beast. It's perfect in every way except for the branding and the flimsyness of the back cover. I have a Seidio Surface case so I don't even notice the back cover anymore.

I went to the N2 because the radio/reception on the S3 was abysmal. Most people in 4g areas had no problem with it, but there are a huge number of complaints by people like myself that had terrible reception in fringe 4g and even solid 3g areas. I was leary about buying the N2 just because of my previous samsung experience. The S3 was litterally great for everything I did, except using it as a phone. In the end I am glad I bought a N2. This thing is deffenitely far superior to the S3. The size does not matter to me at all, you get used to it fast. The reception is easily twice as good. I can now get 4g at my desk at work where I used to get no signal at all on the S3. I love the stylus and started sketching again simply because of the ability. It truly is the best device I have ever had.

Later,
Jason

Except the note has 4 cores and different hardware. And that comparison you posted is the International versions. The international s3 is different then Verizon version (quad core but with 1bg RAM)

yea, there are a number of things wrong in the comparison.
quad core vs dual care to begin with.
then, it states for camera settings:
Has manual iso Yes vs No This allows to manually set the ISO level.
Has manual white balance Yes vs No This allows to manually set the white balance.
Both these statements are wrong. I own both phones and BOTH allow manual ISO and WB settings

I came from the SGSIII and I can tell you that the NoteII is better in every single way. I love the size and the s-pen. Needless to say I absolutely love this phone. Best phone I've ever had and the best Verizon currently has to offer. If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask. I've used both extensively. NoteII on a TW custom rom FTW!

Endorsed. Battery life is amazing.

Still have my S3. Awesome phone but doesn't hold a candle to the Note 2. Battery easily lasts a full day with heavy use, probably 2+ days with lighter use. 6-7 hours screen on time is typical. The screen is obviously bigger on the Note, but it's also way brighter. No issues seeing the screen even in full daylight. This phone is a beast.
Also check out flygrip.com. The single most valuable accessory I've bought for this phone. I can comfortably and conveniently touch every corner of the screen with one hand, without having to balance the phone, maneuver around, or even really "hold" the phone for that matter. It just hangs from your finger tips. The flygrip also doubles as a kick stand, which I use all the time in landscape if I'm watching videos and reverse portrait if it's sitting on my desk-firmly propped up and I can use my S Pen with it.

Your thoughts of this phone

So my upgrade is in a couple weeks. So I'm debating between this phone, Samsung galaxy s3, or the Samsung galaxy note 2. What are your opinions on droid dna

Imo, unless you absolutely need to have a battery that can last a whole weekend get the dna. If you do need that kind of battery life then get the note

This phone is kick ass. Battery life is great. If you're in an area where you're not going to be using the internet for a bit then I would suggest turning your data connection off. You will still be able to get texts but you can't browse. The Note II is too damn big and the S3 has a lot of signal issues from what my friends, who have the device, tell me.
Okay thanks for you opinions. I been stuck with the lg revolution since I got it when it came out. Worst mistake on picking a phone ever

Samsung quality and looks are nowhere near HTC. I had Galaxy SIII (and original Note), DNA is so much classier, looks better, feels better, perfoms better, has bigger screen, but doesn't feel bigger at all. Note 2 is a separate issue. It has some nice features over DNA, but still, it's Samsung, it's cheap. Also, like it was already mentioned, Samsung phones are full of bugs, and there radios are not good. Signal is weaker, problems with Wi-Fi..... And did I mention, that damn sleek cheap plastic! You think I formed an opinion about it yet?

I'm really enjoying my DNA. I debated between the note 2 and gs3 but I've heard and read about their fragile screens. I can't have a phone that will break if I drop it. People knock the lack of sd and removable battery. But drop box gives you 25 gigs of space for 2 yrs, and as far as battery I can easily get through the day with moderate use and the brightness on max. After rooting and running this sweet Viper Rom the phone is smoother then a baby's butt.
imo.. but for not being 32gb or having the sd card slot, this is the best phone ever made to date. I manage my company's smartphone contract so I get to play with them all.
amazing build quality looks and feel. top of the line hardware specs..battery life is good... REALLY good/ amazing with the dev kernels available. quality custom Roms.. actually that's insulting.. incredible custom Roms available for this phone.
we're about to go s-off... life is good.

the note 2 is a creature onto itself. if you want an oversized plastic monstrosity that can perform... have at it.
DNA crushes the S3.. easily
and seriously.. if the file is THAT important the DNA has plenty of storage space.. if your music or other forms of entertainment are mission critical to access trapped under a building or in the middle of nowhere then you need to review your priorities in life.
as for the USA comment.. last time I checked the DNA was made exclusively from Verizon which last time I checked was a corporate entity doing business in America... so honestly the rest of the world can go suck it.. USA! USA! Lol
I would hold out for about 6 weeks and get the S4
I really fretted the decision of a new phone as my upgrade was from the Htc thunderbolt. I looked at the S3 it seemed ok but had a cheap plastic feel like I could break it by holding it to tight. Plus I dont care for touch wiz. Moto Razor maxx HD screen still has gray tint to every thing not as bright, dull colors as moto always had. And typical moto style. Thought both phones had good and bad as all do, when I looked the DNA at the big red store it was hands down the fastest phone I had ever picked up. screen colors beautiful felt better to hold than S3 or moto seems I forgot I ever had a TB was worried about no SD card but no problems yet and battery life is so much better than TB with extended battery I am truely a happy DNA owner hope you will be to

The big question is what makes this phone any better then the rest? Well for me its really just a couple things. The first thing is I like Sense. Now people say well whats Sense? They are widgets designed by HTC. Some of them include the Weather Clock Widget that shows animated weather on your home screen when the phones unlocked. HTC includes bookmark, people, weather widgets all designed by HTC. Now you maybe thinking well weatherbug has widgets already (for example). Their widgets are crap in comparison IMO. That said I also like the wireless charging (cost 40 bucks for the charger). I like the LCD display looks fantastic. The phone doesn't feel like a cheap plastic kids toy. And that's all I have to say about that.

Are you happy with the Note 2

So I'm still debating the Note 2 or the S4. The size of the Note is great because I read a lot and I like the..... well I just like the size. The S pen is somthing that I think I would use a lot. But I've heard that it gets boring after a month. I understand that the hardware is better in absolutely every respect on the S4. But I still don't know. Are you happy with your Note 2

Honestly my advice would be go to store and check them both out side by side so you can actually see and feel the differences. I personally like the size and the s pen on the Note 2 and wouldn't consider an upgrade until possibly the Note 3. I've had mine for a few months and have yet to get "bored"

Seriously, do you think you won't get "bored" with S4 or One after 2-3 months max? The initial "wow" factor wears off for almost all phones. But for me, it's been actually the opposite, personally. This is the only phone which managed to grow on me.
Rest of the phones, after the "honeymoon period" gets boring too, trust me. But with Note II, you're left with a good screen with more screen real estate and excellent battery life. So even if it gets boring, you'd be left with an excellent, stable device that you can trust as using your daily driver. And we've still had users who switched back to Note 2 after going to HTC One et al for the same, which in itself speaks volume IMO

I find after a month or more of use, that I'm using the pen more and more. I take pics and annotate them all the time now, for personal notes, or to send to others. I use it to take all my job-related notes (I work in IT) and always have them with me, 24/7. Definitely not bored!
My Nexus 7 is suffering from separation anxiety, however.
I use my SPen to take notes in meetings almost everyday. I can't see a reason to ever get another phone without Spen.
I've only had mine for a couple of days but I already know that this phone is going to stick with me for the long haul.
I come from the old school days of the stylus with my first being the original palm Pilot 1000 and the last resistive touchscreen being an Sch-i730
I loved that phone to death even though the call quality and battery life was horrid. When the touchscreen went out on it I died a little inside. Capacitive touch screens took away the enjoyment of a stylus and even third party ones just didn't do it for me. With the note II it brought back the same feeling I had with the i730 that died on me 5 years ago.
Don't underestimate the S-Pen's capabilities, the Wacom technology combined with Samsung's extensive software makes it a very powerful device. The phone is huge and you don't really grasp the size until you see a working one with the screen on. That can swing either way on the pro's and cons list depending on the users personal requirements. for me though sometimes it feels too excessive (phone calls) but mostly I am thankful for it. Overall though I am glad it is so big.
I highly suggest you get the note II first and take it for a test drive and try to use the S-Pen as much as you can. If you don't like it then go exchange it for the S4. The S-Pen is a unique feature only found on the note and best try it now then never at all.
I have not been on these forums in a while (years) because I took an apple cruise. Was there user reset on inactive users or something?
great phone!
Note 2 or 3 ONLY!
The size still bothers me at times. I have smaller hands and will cramp a little if I hold my phone for longer periods of time.
Other than that... no regrets. Watching Dish on it is awesome! Also... other Animes and videos. I don't use the spen too much so I can't comment on that. Overall best android phone that I've had. I am still stock and unrooted and super bloated but it is snappy and it works exactly as I want it to. I've had it for 2 months now.
one of the best phones out their and my personal favorite.
Yes. happy. Hopefully the Note 3 is thinner with less bezel and a bigger screen.

The S-Pen's utility for me is not in writing notes or making drawings. It's in the fine control it offers (pinpoint clicking, etc) and the gestures you can do with it...screenshots, image clipping, and more. And if you buy GMD Spen Control, you can make as many custom gestures as you want.

+1 on this too by the way. I can't explain how much it helps me from those annoying "misclicks" - and even expanding some items with the hover like feature. I use it mostly for typing and mostly browsing. Note taking/drawings is a major plus, but I use it mainly for browsing and typing rather.
I played with my boss's S4 the other day...it's a nice phone and looks a bit higher end than the note 2, but the only real difference you will notice day to day is the size. If you can manage the larger size, the additional screen space (plus the s-pen) make it a pretty easy choice. If you want a smaller device, the S4 is a great phone. Felt really solid, fast, etc. I for one love the bigger screen and could probably never go smaller again.
I've the note 2 since March and I came from the GS3. I've had the note 10.1 since the Summer, & that's What made me go for the note 2. qm So happy I did! And I'm definitely looking forward to hearing what the Specks of the note 3 will be. I wasn't even tempted, When the HTC one or the S4 came out because of the S pen! I can't live without it! I too use it at meetings to take notes and to jot things down quickly! It's great not having to carry pen and paper!

Keep my Note 2 or get the up coming HTC one?

First off is like to say that I love my note!
I love the development and the community that is in these threads.
But the HTC one just looks so sweet and the specs are great, so I'm wondering if it is worth getting.
Believe me, I bought and sold the s4 within the same weekend so that's that.
Personally I thought the s4 is over rated and desperately wanted my note back after two days.
I also have the HTC DNA that is in waiting to be unlocked
Since it is not rooted, my opinion seems rather bias on the whole sense thing so I try to ignore that fact.
However,
I know no one has the Verizon HTC one yet so it is truly hard to know. But I was wondering what everyone's opinion on this is.
Do you think that you would give up your note for this?
Why or why not.
Thank you all for the input.

I have seen multiple people claiming their HTC One lasts all day, but it has a 2300 mAh battery pushing 1080p display. So I find it hard to believe, unless they're not using it much. I am really spoiled with my GN2 lasting well into a 2nd day between charges, and I simply could not go back to a phone with less battery life.
I am sure the 1080p display is gorgeous, and it's probably a matter of ignorance is bliss and not knowing what I am missing...but the GN2 display is just fine for my needs. The highest resolution videos that I watch are Youtube "HD" videos. I don't watch Blue-ray rips or any other ultra-HD content, so 720p is adequate for me. And I know this sounds snooty, but I find it hard to watch videos or even look at photos on a smaller phone. Every time someone wants to show me a web page or a funny video, I'm almost tempted to say "hold on, let me pull it up on my phone"
I guess it all depends on your priorities. Do you want the latest and greatest phone albeit with a smaller (but higher res) display? Can you get by without a removable battery? Are you willing to keep a charger handy at all times? Can you live without expandable memory? Those are tough questions...
Only reason I would get an HTC One would be the camera. HTC always uses superior camera optics. But the note 2 is better for me in every other way especially since I have a digital camera if I need a powerful shot anyways. I love my note but the HTC one is really sexy, but I also love sense. Haha

Honestly the HTC One is not really an upgrade. More of a "sidegrade". My girlfriend has it and basically it has better speaker's and a better camera at night. I truly prefer the vibrant oled screen of my GN2 more then the led of the One(not to mention we have the choice to make our screen less vibrant in display settings). She has to keep her phone in battery saving mode to make it through a day. I can leave everything on with high brightness and get though a day no problem. Not to mention that my phone is easily faster then hers because if that stupid battery saver mode. Unless you really cant hang with a 5.5 screen I think you will be disappointed with the switch.

Don't even try. I tried . Paid 35 restocking fee and come back to Note 2 in 2 days. The look wears off. Screen gets tired. Battery issue is in the end the biggest thing. The HTC one in my hand can't run the whole day time after full night charge

with regards to your initial question about keeping the note 2 vs buying the HTC one, id advise sticking with your note 2. I havent seen anyone that went from a note 2 to something else without their incessant complaining about the screen size and battery life. Honestly, arent those pretty damn important? But allow me to direct you to a different question..What do you think about the rumored T6? a 6" HTC one, reportedly (among other, more farfetched, rumors) with an SD card slot and a 3300 mah battery. that intrigues me.
There is a sticky to discuss other devices
