Just want to modify the descriptions of the icon shortcuts (bookmarks) on the home screen. Dont want a new launcher, or even change the icon just the description.

for most of them, it is from home screen, menu button, preferences
If it's the icon in the App Drawer you want to hide, use a Launcher that allows you to do this. Launcher Pro does iirc.
If it's the icon on a Homescreen you just need to change the current one for one that's transparent..and most 3rd party Launchers allow you to do that. I've attached a transparent icon for you if you need it. Un-zip it, save it to your phone and either use your Launcher to edit the current icon or use an app called 'Desktop Visualizer' to do the same.
I'm new to S3 although I have tablet Android 4.1 but still Samsung Galaxy has it different and have few questions:
1. How to turn off sound for camera ?
2. How to remove Clock's default background on home screen? i want have clock/date but without its background.
3. Why icons in Status bar are not refreshing, e.g. I take a screenshot icons appears, I deleted that screenshot and Icon doesn't remove. After device restart icon is removed. Why do I need to do restart to refresh status bar ?
4. How to change icons on LOCK screen ?
5. Default Google browser is acting like mobile browser so I can't view websites as Desktop browser, how to change this ?

I changed the phone.apk able to change the icon on the home screen but it does not appear still the old green icon
[Q] "Set Icon Pack" not updating desktop icons, except those from old Launcher
Under Gen, Manage App Drawer, Set Icon Pack. Changes all icons in app drawer to reflect icon pack.
It will not change the desktop icons, HOWEVER it will change the desktop icons it migrated over from my old launcher. If I add icons from the App Drawer to the desktop or any other way I can think of (long pressing on the desktop and adding icons) it will never change the icons when I change an icon pack. I can see the icons not changing if I manually went in and changed them but I don't see why this is working this way. I even changed the icon pack back to the default then added my icons changed icon pack to non default and the desktop icons did not update.
Is this a bug or a feature? With Set Icon Pack, Themer will update all the desktop Icons from when I migrated my icons from my old launcher but not on anything after that?
