[Q] Auto refresh a presentation published to the web. Using an Android tablet as a di - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm using my Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 as a presentation display. I created a simple presentation in Google docs. I published the document to the web. I opened the URL on my tab and the presentation is working properly but my issue is when I update the main presentation the version on Android does not refresh automatically and it still plays the older content.
How can I fix that?
I would like to be able to use my desktop or phone to change a slide and automatically the tab plays the updates content. Similar to a kiosk display or displays where they show weather and other stuff.
If I don't publish to the web I run into the same issue as edits to presentation do not show in real time like documents do.

Try to clear cache.

Looking for beta testers for new Honeycomb App - What to Watch on Netflix

Hi - cross posting this from my post on the Xoom forum. I was wondering if anyone with Honeycomb running on a Nook color could test out my new What To Watch on Netflix app. It lets you do more sophisticated searches for movies and manage your Netflix queues. The app was designed specifically for Honeycomb tablets.
More details here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=13143801#post13143801 including how to download it.
I'm anxious to hear how the layout looks on the NC with Honeycomb since I've developed it on a Xoom.
You can also reach me at [email protected]
Thanks!

PS - no, unfortunately it doesn't stream Netflix
Hi all. I've been working on a new Honeycomb only app called What To Watch, and I'm looking for some beta testers. Anyone interested in helping out?
I wanted a better way to browse for Netflix movies and also manage my queues. For example, I wanted to do something like "show me all Sci Fi movies available on Instant with a 3 star rating or higher, rated PG-13 or R, sorted by release date". I couldn't find any other web site or app to do this, so I figured I would build it myself.
There are 3 main sections:
1) My Searches - this is where you can create your own searches and save them for later. I create two to start with. Click on one and it will display the list in the panel on the right, 25 at a time. Once you click on one of the My Seaches items, you can edit it by long pressing it or clicking the Edit button at the top. Note that this uses a beta API from Netflix called OData. It's the only API that lets you do sophisticated searches like this, but unfortunately it is subject to change from Netflix and it may not always be current with the main Netflix library.
2) Netflix Queues - what you would expect. For example, what is in your DVD and Instant queues.
3) Top Lists - this comes from the Netflix web site rather than the API. It shows what the top titles are for each category. This method won't show the star ratings until you drill into a particular title.
You can download the apk here (note this is case sensitive):

Known issues:
This is the first release. Should probably call it an Alpha!
Authenticating with Netflix isn't quite right yet. You may wind up with the web browser still open after exiting the app, and you may get another instance of the app. But just exit everything and it should be ok
There is a bug with the Netflix API with TV series and specials. This is a problem on their end, so you might get some unexpected results when browsing TV shows
I would appreciate any and all comments in terms of general UI impressions, bugs, performance, usability.
You can reach me directly at [email protected].
Thanks!

our builds are not true honeycomb, unfortunately. we are one sdk level behind and don't have the proper honeycomb APIs.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
Ah, ok fzr-r4 - thanks. I didn't know that!
Hope you all can get your hands on the latest build from Google. I think the NC would make a good low cost honeycomb tablet.

[Q] Browser Problem

Hi,
I am trying out the Galaxy Tab and I find it to be rather nice to use. However, I have encountered an issue that I have not been able to resolve. I have a favorite web site that I go to at least once a day. It displays poorly with the text over writing other text, to the point it is almost unreadable. The default browser offers the option of Mobile or Standard. The site opens in mobile mode and so I selected Standard and the page gives we an error 404, if I remember correctly.
The other issue is, I need to open a link on the site page that displays a PDF document and another link that plays a MP3 audio file, while staying on the web page. The Galaxy Tab will not allow me to have both open. If I have the PDF file open, I can't get to the MP3 file. If I have the MP3 open, I can't open the PDF without closing the MP3.
I wonder if the site needs Java or some other software to make it display and function correctly? Any ideas what I could be doing wrong.
Strangely, My wife's iP#d1 handles this site with ease. Also, my Google Cr-48 handles it just fine. I am at a loss to figure this out. If I can't solve this problem, the Galaxy Tab goes back tomorrow as I am tired of messing with it.
Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.
I've noticed a few pages the stock browser renders odd, such as quoted text here on xda. Opera mobile works fine, scrolls smoother, and doesn't have text input lag. I'd recommend it.
Thanks for your reply.
I tried Opera, Dolphin HD and Beta 6, Maxthon and of course the default, Chrome. They all produced the same result. So far, only Safari renders and allow the PDF and the audio file to run concurrently.
care to share the two sites hence we can try a work around. try typing the command about:debug in address and hit go. New options will appear in settings, try changing the uid to desktop and rendering normal and disable wide page display. Just for a try!

Click to collapse
Thanks for the good tips. Those changes made the browser's display much better. It got rid of the garbled text. Question, will these changes remain after a re-boot or do I need to reset each time?
The other issue of not being able to have multitasking while on the subject site remains. The site that I am trying to fully access is www.torahclass.com. When I select the link to open the audio file and then open the PDF the audio quits. I cannot get back to the web page. If I am on the web page, I can't get back to the PDF.
I just spent one hour at Best Buy and they had five different phone/tablet knowledgeable staff take a turn a making it work. No luck! I asked if it would work on the HP TouchPad and their response was no. However, they claimed the multitasking could be done on the Playbook. We were not able to test their hypothesis due to the fact that the Playbook did not have access to their wi-fi.
So, I am beginning to think that this is an issue with Android and WebOS that remains to be solved by Google and HP. I like the Playbook, but I am concerned about RIM's future. Owners might end up with no support from the mfg.
Anyways, thank you both for your help.
try xiialive app, when clicking on an audio stream in browser choose to play with xiialive and once started press home and continue browsing with the stream playing in background! Issue resolved.
Works. Thank you.

Clik - A Cool New Remote Control App

Spotted this on TechCrunch:
Here’s how it works: You point your desktop browser at ClikThis.com, which generates a unique QR code.
Then you open the Clik iPhone or Android app, aim the camera at the screen, and the app uses the code to figure out which device you’re trying to control.
Once it’s synced up, you can select YouTube videos from your phone, and they’ll play on the screen.
Get it here: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.clik
Still a little quirky, but for version 1.0 ... I am liking it so far. Way faster to get set up than any similar app.

HTML Editor Dreamweaver-esque help

Hello all,
I don't suppose anyone knows of a good HTML editor / Live Preview app for Android, I've got the Note 2 and since it's purchase I've been considering getting the Note 10.1 for running my website, however i'm unable to find any app that can work as a Dreamweaver stand-in. Does anyone have any suggestions?
My current idea was;
Be able to open HTML docs insert content, edit <div> tags, ccs.style all preferable with a live preview for proofing, then direct upload to FTP. Window PC not needed.
Back up idea (not ideal)
Find decent Remote desktop app, remote to desktop and use Dreamweaver, upload from Windows PC to FTP, (issues* doesn't allow for no data connection, relies secondary machine)
Any help is welcome, as I was hoping to pick up the Note this weekend, but well if this doesn't work, then i'll have to hold fire.

[REQUEST] Cinemagram to GIF app

Hello folks!
U're my only hope. As u may noticed, Cinemagram made it to Android finally. I know there are still many clones but I love Cinemagram and the community behind it plus it's animations are in a better resolution/quality that almost all it's clones.
The problem is: It seems that Cinemagram saves the animations as MP4 files. Plus there's no direct way to save 'em on the phone. Via the share function it is only possible to share the link into a text file (or an Evernote note). When I do so, open Evernote (or the text file) and follow the link I get to the Cinemagram website where the animation is embedded as a MP4. But that's only possible from a PC. From my mobile browsers (even with desktop mode) it's just possible to view the mobile version of the website when I follow the shared link. There - surprisingly - it appears as a GIF and I can save it to my phone. The problem with this way is, that the GIF is reduced to a lower resolution than it is in the app originally.
So it would be great if one of you could make a small app, which appears in the SHARE function of cinemagram and when I use it, it converts the original MP4 (from the desktop version of the cinemagram website) and save it as a GIF on my phone.
Is that possible?
Cheers from Germany
Tarik
Alright, I'm dare to push this once.
i'm also very interested in this.
