[Q] little app or widget/button to just LOCK the screen? (not turn off) - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

There seems to be plenty of adequate little homescreen button apps to lock the screen. but they turn it off at the same time. I want the option for both. I already have one that turns the screen off, now I want a different one that just brings up the ICS default lock screen (the one that shows up just after turning the screen back on or at OS startup - if you set it to have lock security).
I'll put em in the icon group on the home screen.
It's cos sometimes I just need to lock the screen while carrying the phone for a short while [and don't want to touch something while grabbing it by the screen], then easily [without having to press the power button] unlock phone again to resume using it once I'm done carrying.
IS there one that does this? Without having to be its own lock screen app - I really just want to keep things simple.....
Thanks for your help.

I found a solution even better than I had imagined myself! Hidden Lock Pro! even easier and better for my needs than I myself thought of: I press its widget icon to lock screen, it's a simple blank ICS background which is locked to prevent accidental pressing on something, then even better than the default lock security needs (cos it's only while I'm carrying it, in secure environments, that i ever need to use this temp lock function), and I have it set to 'shake to unlock' mode to simply go back to my work when ready! PERFECT for my needs above .

[Q] Disable sliding finger lock

Is there a way to disable the sliding finger method to unlock? If i set the lock to none it just doesn't use either pin, patter, password or fingerprint, but the sliding finger always gets there.
on some other phones i have seen some apps but from what i have read they are not stable. When i hit the power button i want to go straight to the home screen.
Maybe there is an .apk i can freeze on titanium backup to make this work.
Have you tried NoLock from the market?
NoLock works well but I prefer Widgetsoid. It gives you a toggle for the slide lock, lets you add a button to any homescreen to lock the screen, as well as toggles for most other common activities, including ring, vibrate or silent.
i am testing nolock some people in other forums said they were having stability problems or that it stopped working. so far it works.
No lock 100%, and the widget works well (since I have security finger swipes) to toggle quickly on, or quickly off.
Not what you're looking for, but figured it's worth mentioning for anyone that might be interested: Widgetlocker gives the option to unlock using the back button. The slider seemed to generally work consistently, but the back button is a slight bit quicker and always works for me, which is why I like it. I personally like having a lock screen for just checking the time and such, though I can see why some people may not care to have the lock screen.

Turn off screen, but don't lock phone

Is there any way (add on app or otherwise) to be able to turn off my phone manually with the power button and have it not lock (so that when I turn it back on the screen is on where I left it without the lock screen). And where I can manually lock if I want.
Ideally too something that won't automatically lock (just turn off) when the screen delay is reached.
This is driving me crazy!
There is an app for that, it's call No Lock. I used to use it on my Desire HD running CM7 rom. I don't know if it will work for sense tho.
No Lock works great... I have it on my 3D.. and used it on my Evo4G, and my wife has it on her Shift 4G. Just be careful with it because the volume up/down buttons will also turn the screen back on, but you'll never need to worry about the lockscreen ever again if you run that app.
Thanks, I just installed No Lock. It is okay, but I would really like something that includes a simple widget to lock the screen -- like I could just press it and the built in lockscreen would lock the phone. I realize I can use the included widget and turn off No Lock and then the phone locks, but it just seems like an extra step.
Maybe use the widget and put a shortcut to screen off next to it?... Or somethin like dat

You could use Tasker and make a widget that you can run that will turn off No Lock, and then lock the phone / turn off the screen

[Q]Quickly using/switching lock types or useing 1 of X specific

Hey,
I'm looking for some app, method or hack that would allow me to lock phone via Pattern Method or PIN/Code, while still all the time have set normal (via slide).
It should work like this: when i push Power Button phone locks normal way (could be selectable, but pernament 'slide' for that would be enough) and if i click an Icon or hold Power button and choose option like "2nd lock" or "Hard Lock" or click icon on statusbar after expanding down - i really don't care where it would be, as long as it will be easy to get to and fast) it locks with some harder mechanism like pattern or pin/code.
Why?
E.g. when i text with someone or check something pretty often and phone is all time with me, i lock it with normal lock (slide), and when i leave it on desk and have to go somewhere and can't take it with me - i lock it with smthing harder.
I'd use harder one all the time, but it would be inefficient for me to write pin/code always or use pattern
I hope you understand what i mean and someone could provide me help with this

New update (.21) breaks the 'slide' lock screen

To repro:
1. Run some app like Terminal that runs in the 'background'.
2. Power off screen.
3. Power on screen.
4. Press the taskbar.
5. Press the app notification.
Tablet is now unlocked...
On the plus side, this is does not happen when using other than 'slide' for lock.
Some might call this a 'feature', but it seems more like a bug... (or a very untested feature).

A little reminder to you, the only thing Slide protects your tablet from is your unborn kids.
It is not a 'some might call this a feature' thing, tablet simply considers user navigating notification menu just as valid 'unlock' act as Slide itself is. As it should.
The odds of getting unlocked is much greater via an accidental press of a notification then using the slider.
Like I said, it might try to be a feature, but it fails...
I don't know how big your notification-bar is... but the chance that you press one of those buttons in the corner is minimal...
Well I dont see much use of a slide to unlock screen on a tablet anyway since I have no clue how you can accidentally turn the TFP on... It's not like you have that thingy in your pocket...

You have to do a lot more than just accidentally press a notification. First of all, your Prime screen needs to be turned ON first, which means you need to accidentally press the really-difficult-to-accidentally-press power button. Then you need to touch corner of the screen not once, but twice in very specific locations (first to open the notification menu and then click on one of the buttons.
Slide unlock is entirely meant for phones, where the chance of accidentally turning on the phone in pocket is more likely. On a tablet it is just a beautiful startup screen that - until Android starts supporting user accounts - is nothing more than that.
Go to security and change from slide to pattern or password if you want a more secure lock. I think that the notification panel only gets past the slide unlock.

Remove Google now from lock screen?

Anyone know if theres a way to remove the Good Now swipe of feature on the lock screen without disabling voice dialing/texting? I know apps like WidgetLocker and such will remove it but for whatever reason WidgetLocker and other type programs work 1 or 2 times then it stops or goes back to the stock lock screen.
I cant be the only one who wants this annoying ****e off the lockscreen?....
Try an app called Screen Off. It actually make that swipe jesture turn your screen off and adds some neat effects. I never use my power button anymore.
