[Q] 4.2 keyboard on CM10 (FXP149) - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

Hello! I am the only one, who can't manage to get a working gesture typing 4.2 keyboard on FXP CM10? I flashed several ZIPs and installed APKs but none of them worked with gesture typing. The keyboard itself works perfectly, but the swipe function doesn't want to.

Why don't you download the apps like swype or swiftkey as they might offer the functions you need and also some keyboards support themes so you can apply themes on them...
Hope I helped,
Regards,
Abhinav

After installing it, did you try to set it up in Settings->Language & Input->Keyboard & Input Methods ?

After all these tries, I tried swype and swiftkey too. Both of them quite good, but they eat a lot of memory (~30MB) beside the original android keyboard. But now I removed some not too important apps and kept only swype (beta). I will see how it works, thanks.

Yes ofc, I checked, unchecked the gesture typing and reboot several times, nothing. But now I am quite well with this Swype keyboard (except the +30MB ram use). Thanks guys

You can look here for the xperia sx keyboard that also has swipe but I am not sure if it has mdpi support: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=33774862&postcount=1404 and the portal has a story on a new swipe keyboard that you may want to try: http://www.xda-developers.com/android/kii-keyboard-offers-free-alternative-to-swype-and-swiftkey/
If you really want the 4.2 keyboard, then pm me and I will send you the one that is working on my device.
Sorry for the previous post about making sure you turned on the features of the keyboard...it is just one of those things that frequently gets over looked

is it possible to compile the 4.2 keyboard from sources or is it a gapp now? if it can be compiled, can it be backported to 4.1?

It's already out there, both for stock and aosp, but i had the same problem with gesture not working. I'm using the xperia s and it works fine. Swipe and swiftkey eat ridiculous amounts of ram and also do random connections, i stopped using them after very little..

I went looking for where I originally downloaded the 4.2 keyboard. It was from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1964663
There are 2 zips, one that contains just the apk and that one is working for me on a ST18i, but mrmako777 also has a version in case the apk alone doesn't work and also contains a required lib file. So if the apk alone isn't working, maybe you can try the 2nd zip in his post.

yeah but i would like to compile it from source, and yes, Swipe and swiftkey eat ridiculous amounts of ram.

[Q] [Request] Keyboard application

Hi everyone.
I bought one of these phones and I came to a problem. Before this one I had a Xperia X8 and it's keyboard had an useful feature: while typing, if I made any mistake it suggested words, ie, imagine typing 'hekko' and there was a suggestion 'hello'. The android keyboard doesn't have any dictionary, I have to insert every single word, the LG keyboard only gives me "predictions" (if I mistype any word, it won't give me any suggestion).
Do you know any keyboard app that does the same of X8's?
I'm using Smart Keyboard PRO. It's not for free, but it's work realy nice for me. Becouse I'm from czech, find support for this minor language is really hard, but this keyboard have it! I also wrote some time in eglish and it works also fine. I love many of possiblities how to configure this keyboard.
It cost $2.73 so it's not too much I think. If you are not sure, you can also use trial version of this keyboard for free.

Does anyone know where to get a functioning multilanguage Swype for the LG? I managed to install Version 2.6.47.11856 on my HTC Desire, but on my girlfriends Optimus One it crashes when I try to type something.

I have installed your own version using a file.apk.
The file name is swype_2.6.47.11856_HVGA.apk , If you want I can upload the file.apk on some free host and so you can download and install it on your opt1.

Hello,
I must say that until now the LG keyboard is the best. It has the xt9 feature and is capable to write in so many languages. Don't know what issue u have with yours nut mine works like a charm. Some times misses a word but nothing dramatic.
Cheers

In my previus phone (galaxy i7500), the Android keyboard was able to autocomplete.
I don't know why the Android keyboard on the O1 is lacking this feature.
I'm using the LG keyboard aswell. Took me a bit to come into it,but it's really good and has an autocomplete feature.

this is how you add dictionaries automatically .
folow the instructions :udm.adrianvintu.com
you can find it in the market as well but you should first read from the link above.
Anyone using Swiftkey app for their keyboard? Please post some feedback. Thanks!

How are those "suggestions" different from the LG keyboards autocorrections (which IIRC have to be turned on in the settings menu)? IMHO the LG keyboard is pretty good at guessing what I meant to type.

I second the motion for Smart Keyboard. I use the FREE trial.
While you are at it, you may want to try out "autotext" which is a great "text expander". i.e. you type "xda" it can suggest: "forums.xda-developers.com" if you configure it to.
I use mine to expand signatures, email addresses, and even templates.
plus, it supports macros: %d is expanded to current date, %t to current time.
additionally, you can resize the key heights, if you want to see more of the screen or want a bigger key for bigger fingers.
also set it to learn new words, and use your Contacts Dictionary.
It's a great keyboard.
-------------------------------------
You may want to check WiFi Keyboard as well, if you have a wireless router setup at home, it will enable you to enter from your PC Keyboard over wifi.
-------------------------------------
If you do not know yet, long press on a "text box" will allow you to switch "Input Method" (a.k.a. keyboard on the fly)
Good day! Hope this helps you out!

you can resize "smart keyboard" keys.
Home Screen --> menu key --> settings --> Language and Keyboard --> Smart Keyboard Trial --> General Settings --> Key Height
And as I mentioned in a previous post, you may want to check out "Wifi Keyboard", if you have access to a wireless router and your PC. That way you get to use a real keyboard.
Good Day! Hope this helps!

I can't stand the CM7 keyboard

On hyperdroid cm7 for hd2 the board is so much easier and better. How can I use thay keyboard on my atrix? Portrait mode is very poor on the atrix stock cm7 camera. Can you help?

I already downloaded like 20 different ones and they all don't work at all. I enabled them and tried to use them in dolphin mini and messaging and by simply holding the keyboard pop up button. It only activates the stock cm7 keyboard. I went into keyboard options and selected the keyboards and when I go to messaging and open keyboard it's the cm7 one. When i press the settings key it only shows the cm7 keyboard...
thanks

Yes, I'm fully aware of that function. However the only method that is allowed is the default keyboard option. Know of a specific keyboard app that is bigger, nicer, ans easier than the stock cm7 keyboard that works on all system apps and dolphin mini?
Thanks
First "Enable" then "Long Press" ...If your phone cant enable more keyboards, you might as well throw it out the window for an iPhone now.
My CM7 has like 5 different working keyboards

Please don't take this the wrong way...
If you download a keyboard.. for example the "Gingerbread Keyboard" from the market, (Which is the one I use and looks much nicer than stock and is resizable to fit your needs). Then you go into the settings menu and enable this keyboard from the Language/Keyboard options menu. Then you go into a text message or something and longpress --> input method.. you WILL see two keyboards there, one Android keyboard, and the other will be your downloaded keyboard...
If you choose the downloaded one, it will systematically
change your keyboard across all apps within android to that one...
This is what I was speaking of... and this WILL do what you are asking...
If this is not clear please let me know..
^^ What a nice guy you are

Just tried downloading gingerbread keyboard. It says package file was not signed correctly. I'll try closing market and try again. I'm running the latest cm7 for the atrix.
Thanks
I installed hackers keyboard and it doesn't show up in the input method list. Trust me i've done this so many countless times on none cm7 roms. Just never tried it in cm7. I believe it will not work. I don't like that comment above where the guy seems frustrated explaining it to me. I already know exactly what to do. I am doing everything 100% correctly. However because of the fault of cm7, will not allow any other input method other than stock to show up in the input method field. Please confirm.

By any chance have you flashed any kernels?
May be that if so...
Also, try reinstalling the rom if it's not too much trouble..
My last time I loaded CM7.. certain widgets would never show up in the widgets list...but after I flashed a second time, it would work.. Its real finicky.

I figured out what I was doing wrong. I have to only select 1 keyboard at a time even know it lets u select several at once. Kind of weird. Anyway Gingerbread fixall is pretty damn solid and I like it a lot. Not quite as amazing as the keyboard on Hyperdroid HD2 roms but it's a lot better than stock.
THANKS BRO
BTW - I pulled the latinIME.apk from the Hyperdroid hd2 rom and corrected permissions and I get force closes after reboot. Maybe it's because it's not QHD so it simply won't work. I wonder how easy it would be to port it over? I really love how that hyperdroid hd2 keyboard looks and it's the easiest to use.
Later
I noticed that if the keyboard installs as the same name as a keyboard you already have it will only show one when you long press. I have found that if your third keyboard has a unique name it will show as a third choice ... but I'm glad you got it worked out, I like the qhd one in my last post, it installs as 3vo keyboard and is kinda awesome transparent!

[APP][2.2+][Xposed] Always Correct

This is a module that will allow your keyboard to use its auto-correct feature in any TEXT field. If the field is a number input, then it will keep it as a number.
This will also allow you to use auto-correct in password fields.
This should work with any keyboard. If it doesn't work with a keyboard, like Samsung's, its because they are OEM keyboards and are not using standard Google API, they are using their own proprietary framework files. I do not have time to go through every keyboard out there, so I will be releasing source when I have time to allow one to make their own mods to enable it to work on their keyboard.
Any issues feel free to ask!
Simply install the apk either separate or through the xposed module app then simply enable and reboot and you are good to go
UPDATE: 24-4-16 (dd-mm-yy format)
- Added option to toggle auto correct when typing. Simply click the notification in your notification drop down to toggle.
- Removed blacklist option, to blacklist an app, when typing in that app, drop down your notifications, and click to toggle auto correct. It will be remembered the next time you use the app. (Note, if you switch keyboards, this will be reset.)
Don't forget to buy me a snack Thanks guys!
Download: Always Correct v1.0.3
Version 1.0.1
- Fixed issue with certain keyboards not allowing auto correct.
Version 1.0.2
-Added blacklist option
-Added option to ignore password fields

No duh it's a much needed feature hence the whole point of the module. If you want it fixed you need to tell me what keyboard you're using. Seems as if some keyboards require more info to enable the auto correct. For smart keyboard pro it works perfectly. But as you can see stated above swift key doesn't get enabled either. So to fix it I need to know the keyboard you're using.

Which UC browser are you using? Is swiftkey not working only in UC browser or everywhere? And sorry I can't reproduce the fleksy issue. Not to mention there shouldn't be an issue with it being "glitchy" its prolly poor development from the makers of fleksy. I had horrible issues using it where it randomly would detect a "gesture" even though i was simply typing that fast.

Should be compatible from 2.2+ (hence thread title) that error is a problem with xposed. Servers might be down. Try from your computer.
I use this UC Browser, and if I use this module Swiftkey doesn´t work with auto-correct and flow functions in any field on this browser. Without this module Swiftkey works with auto-correct in UC Browser (except in search field).
In other apps Swiftkey work fine even without this module (with exceptions that I think this module can solve).
Ok, Fleksy appart, its not a very annoying problem haha.
Same here....using Google Keyboard...disables everywhere

[MOD][XPOSED] Suggestions Toggle

I'm using Swiftkey pretty much since my first Android smartphone and it always bugged me when I wanted to type email addresses or other stuff the dictionary didn't contain. So when I type something and hit the spacebar the word would be autocorrected to something completely different. I always wished there would be a simple toggle to enable/disable autocompletion/suggestions. Well, now there is!
This module allows you to double tap any text box to enable/disable suggestions. It's tested on Swiftkey and Google keyboard both on Android KitKat.

See this baby being quite useful. Should have been part of the system from the start!
Will give it a try once that "issue" is resolved.
It's not really an issue. I only noticed it when being in Google Mail, double tapping in the subject, then going to the message body, double tapping and then going back to the subject field. So this use case is rather rare. Usually you are in Whatsapp or any other messaging service and operate only in a single field. Not multiple.
Is it possible that the app will remember my settings for certain fields? For example disable the auto correction when it meets again the input field of a mail address in kmail?

Great mod idea. :good.

- It would be great if this toggle could be triggered by a SHORTCUT. Then, we could use a mod like "Gesture Navigation" to toggle the feature on/off.
Not working on my galaxy s4 running kit kat either, hope this is fixed soon as it's a great idea.
Not working on Moto G with Google Keyboard
Not working on Samsung s2 with swift key.
Edit....
Now it's works fine with the update fix... Thanks Dev for the fix. Great..

Works great now over here. Nice module!

I'm soo sorry. There was a stupid typo making it not work properly.... It's working now though, thanks for the heads up! Please grab it from the repo again! I'd appreciate if you could update your post so that for new users it doesn't look like it's not working :-S

Works fine on my LG P500 over multiling-o kb.
Suggestion: Choice of gestures. Why? Because that double-click is functional in various text-programs including messaging (seems to insert/remove new-line). Kind of limited because directional gestures will also be functional. Ideas?
This seems to just disable suggestions entirely when I'm using Swiftkey (beta if that matters). Double tapping does nothing, and swipe input (flow) is disabled.
Google Keyboard works as expected and I can toggle suggestions, but only if the input field originally allows for this. I was hoping that this would allow me to turn on suggestions for input fields that some idiot developer forced to have suggestions off, and it doesn't do that. Would be a great feature to see in the future!
Excellent module :highfive:
Works fine on the play store "L" keyboard FYI and TY!
N900T rooted stock.
This is great!
Thank you very much. I love autocorrect but it drives me crazy sometimes. Now the solution is "a double tap away", again, thank you
(I'm on CM11 maguro)
I don't get the point of this, at least with SwiftKey. Since you still type out the word instead of swiping it, you can always have SwiftKey accept what you wrote out - the word would appear in the leftmost suggestion.
This is totally awesome! :good:
HTC One (m7) here and it works like a charme!
Seriously...this solves a problem that has always annoyed me big time and I already made a note to see if it's "programmable" with Tasker and place a shortcut in the quicksettings menu. But it still felt to complicated...this is super intuitive and works flawless!
Thank you!

and the multiling kb gives the option on tapping in.
Anyway, this is a tiny module, use it when needed, ignore it when not. Painless and cost-free

@Archon810
Do you use the setting... auto space after a period? Sometimes, in some scenarios, in trying to spell out a long word that has periods or punctuation in it, SwiftKey keeps auto correcting and the usual method of using the top left suggestion box is virtually useless. Hard to explain. But, being able to temporarily disable suggestions/typos really comes in handy in this situation. I actually feel less stressed at times. Such a handy feature. Many have wrote to the SwiftKey devs over the years, asking for a similar Toggle. Instead, it manually takes 4-5 clicks to disable prediction. This module is the apitome of the usefulness of Xmodules such as this one. Thanks again to our dev @theknut.

The external sd feature doesn't works. I checked for quite a few apps, some force closes other don't detect.
I also tried with other custom paths but no use.

I primarily developed this on Samsung Note II. I will see if I can make it compatible for Omnirom. I will spent sometime next week on this.
thanks for this, i only use it to reduce the size of the Google Keyboard.
@amit.bagaria great mod for the Google Keyboard! any way to make the Enter key act normally and act as an Enter key instead of a carriage return?
Is there a way to resize the keyboard horizontally?
Any chance of getting the option to increase the keyboard height beyond 100%? I think it would improve the swiping recognition if you had more room to swipe around.
The keyboard works great in portrait mode, but crashes when switch to landscape mode in chompsms, XDA premium, and likely other apps
Thanks though
@amit.bagaria
Cool, module. Work great for resizing the latest google keyboard.
A request, :f you add a slider for the suggestion bar height. It would be great.
A bug I noticed is that on landscape the keyboard is a little beyond the bottom border
Emoji mode issue
I've noticed that the emoji keyboard doesn't seem to resize properly. It goes back to full size and there's a big blank area at the bottom. Other than this, thank you for the fantastic work!
Not compatible with xiaomi redmi 1s on cm11 or carbon rom, plz set compatibility

Please forgive my ignorance, but I don't understand this "XExternal SD" part.
Is this to make KitKat ALLOW apps to save there (Enable Write to XSD)?
Or does it (assuming the device can write to XSD in KK) tell apps that normally write to Int Storage to save their data (including installing data files) to XSD?
You see, it's important for me, because my KK setup can already do the 1st one, so then installing this would be redundant for me.
Thank You!

Its for the second reason you mentioned. It changes the loacation apps that you select to location on external sdcard.

Okay, thank you very much.
Do you have any plans to add resize the keyboard horizontally?
have you considered opensourcing it?
I'd like to implement height change in my keyboard
