[Q] How to use Xperia keyboard on CM9? - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

I have Xperia U and I really like Xperia keyboard with alpha numeric T9, works great when typing in my language and for me QWERTY is too narrow on 3.5".
Thing is that I want to install CM9 and use it as only ROM. Maybe not right now but I'm planing to use CM9 and only CM9. I did find some Xperia keyboards in different topics about swype witch is not important to me.
My question is, what do I need to copy from my phone (C.1.0 ROM) to CM9 to have complete Xperia keyboard with "My words" list?

System/app/textinput-tng.apk, System/lib/libXT9Engine.so and System/usr/xt9
Copy those 2 files and folder to same locations in your phone, set appropriate permissions and it should work Best of luck Let me know how it works out !
Cheers

It seems to work fine. I lost my words but not a big deal.
Except these files you suggested, I copied few more layouts that I found in usr folder. I don't know if that changed anything but it looked like could be part of keyboard.
Thank you for your help.

Glad to be of service Cheers

Does anybody know where is the file that holds "my words"? I would like to be able to backup and edit that file because I often change ROMs.

Me too. Check the link at the end of my post, I found a port of the Sony keyboard (with T9) which works perfectly on CM9. You flash it at boot, then start phone, go to settings, select the keyboard and it will work just fine!

Xperia active keyboard on cyanogen

Hey everyone,
Is it possible to extract the soft keyboard from the stock rom on my xperia active and make it work on cyanogen ?
Browsing other threads, I found some solution for Xperia Mini Pro
batwingnz said:
Same reslut on .42 as with .58, SK17i
SOLUTION:
I coped the contents of "keylayout" and "keyprint" folders from official stable release, http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/32768-cyanogenmod-7-for-the-xperia-mini-pro-v7102-24-oct-2011/
Then using Root Explorer and changed all permissions to:
rw
r
r
Then reboot and you've got a working keyboard, sym key not included.

try using that method, maybe it will work
Ofc. copy that files from your original stock ROM
thanks, I found this thread but didn't get that the layout could be the soft keyboard, will try when I get back to cyano, I just flashed a new rom
Hi, the solution I posted was for hardware keyboard only.
If you guys do work out the software keyboard too that'd be awesome, i've had a go but not quite worked out sin2img just yet cause only stock dump I have is in .ftf format I'm not sure how to get files out.

I believe this is what you're searching for...
Either install it like a normal app, or if that fail's try putting it in the /system/app/ folder.
Thanks for the file, copied to system/app and changed permissions 644, reboot. Nothing showed up, thanks though was worth a try
You need to enable it as an option i think. If the OS doesnt have the code to call the app automatically, go check language and keyboard settings.
Hi, thanks for reminder for others that don't know to do this, I should remember to explain every step I took, it never appeared in the list of keyboards to enable.
hmmm. what i did is that i use titanium back up and just google ''chinesetextinput.apk''
I am using my phone right now that's why I can't upload today
Hope this works, because it worked with mine

thank you guys, I'll try it this weekend.
Hello, did it work?
Because I don't want to buy Swiftkey, just to get Autocorrect for my hardware keyboard.

[APP][LG stock Keyboard][CM7 & cutom ROMs][Gingerbread based ONLY][UPDATED 26.03.12]
Hello guys,
I have made a flashable zip for those who want the LG Gingerbread stock Keyboard. I know that in CM7 is not supported and probably neither in other custom Gingerbread ROMs(only Android Keyboard is supported) .
Pay attention! This is only for GINGERBREAD [2.3.x] CUSTOM ROMS (DEODEXED ROMS)
So for those who love LG Gingerbread stock Keyboard here it is:
1. Download the desired ZIP (see below zips) to root of SDCARD (no folders!)
2. Reboot to Recovery (i use CWM 5.0.2.7)
3. Wipe cache and dalvik cache
4. Choose "install zip from SD CARD"
5. Flash zip
6. Reboot.
LG_IME_2.3.zip - without T9 user dictionary (for those that don't need user dictionary)
LG_IME+DIC_2.3.zip - with T9 user dictionary working (for those who want to add words on the dictionary)
Phone models reported to working:
LG Optimus One (LGP500) - GB
LG Optimus 2X (LGP990) - GB
Huawei X6 - GB
Samsung Galaxy S (GT-I9000) - INFINITUM ROM - ICS (working but not properly on ICS because is GB based)
Regards.
If i helped you please press THANKS button.

User dictionary NOT working..
Hi!
Fresh installed CM7 Alien today (Optimus 2x) and flashed this keyboard from you...
It adds words to the user dictionary BUT, it seems that the keyboard has it's own list?
It doesn't predict my words from the UD unless I open settings for keyboard, selects dictionary and inputs a word. Then it works forever for that single word..
If I type a word and long-press it for adding to dictionary, it adds it to the built-in(?) dictionary and it does NOT show up in prediction..
Any ideas of whats wrong? Have two versions of the stock LG keyboards and none of their UD's works.. Really don't have the time or patience for adding every single word the long way..
Kind regards, Victor
OMG. ..I really need this for my cm7.2!
Sorry for my bad English: (
One more thing... would you please help me to add a Chinese input language in it?
Sorry for my bad English: (
To have a working user dictionary you have to add every word you need in future, sorry about that, you also can search on the internet for some dictionaries, probably there are users that share dictionaries for LG keyboard.

Well to have chinese input on your smartphone, i think that your ROM has to support it, but in any case if you are not able to use the chinese input with LG stock Keyboard then install from Google Play/Market the one of the following applications:
- Google Pinyin IME
- Sogou

No problem mate, i'm glad i can help. From what i know the ROM has to support first the language that you want to use with a keyboard, if the desired language is not present also in the ROM then you are not able to use it also with the keyboard.
Regards,
ben.
Can i use it on hephappy CM 9 or AOKP?
EDIT
I flash it over hephappy CM9 this keyboard works but when i creating new message, enter button doesnt work

[Q] Changing default ugly green Emoticons

So I am on the Typhoon ROM on my HD2 and searched all over XDA but couldn't find any EMOTICON or SMILEY pack for the Android devices.
Isn't there any method to flash and replace the emoticons using a zip file. To my surprise I found no dedicated thread which details something like this.
I want the old school style yellow emoticons..just wanna get rid of the default ones. Someone please guide me.

Pretty much. It's worth having a look in your framework app(s) and SystemUI.apk as well. All you need to do is replace the PNG files with ones by the same name.
I found some very nice emoticons over on deviantart and they look so much better.

Sorry if this is a bit late, but if you're still looking for a solution, perhaps this might help (assuming you're rooted):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=811650
I don't remember if it was on ICS, but I used the ADB method to change mine to emotes my friend drew for me.
I did this a while ago, so I apologize if it doesn't work as of now.

You also need to change /system/app/Mms.apk (at least on my 4.1.2 android ROM). It included also 21 emoticons in the Mms.apk, not 17 like in the systemframework).
I also noticed that on my ROM (LG Optimus Speed device), the hdpi icons are 33x33 px, and in the provided .rar they are 24x24
I want all my old smileys to display on x10 mini pro

Hi. I've searched everywhere for the answer to this question, but so far I haven't found it. Ok, I'm on SE xperia x10 mini pro running MiniCM7 on nAa-kernel. Works like a charm. But the stock firmware had 27 smileys, now I have 17 and therefore, when I use standard input in mms.apk, I can add the original ones to the text, but they will not all show up like smileys, but some just as plain text or characters, for instead the heart is just <3. I have extraxted the original ones and added them to both framework-res and mms, but that only changes the ones I could allready see, but it doesn't add the others. I've tried to install the stock 2.1 mms.apk, with same resaults and also change the custom mms (2.3) with the stock in the rom and then upgrading, but that just made it reboot over and over again. So anyone have any solution or ideas to solve this problem?
Thanks in advance

Hi.
This usually can be done by completely hacking the MMS.apk for your Rom. I once did it for my CM10.1 too, but it is a bit tedious.
You need to find the res/xml file that stores the layout for the smileylist, and add new ones there.
You can build and reinstall apk's with Virtuos ten studio easily, if you have adb/usb drivers installed and your phone connected to your pc

[Q] Can i use other keyboard on CM 9?

As title says - can i install new and may be better keyboard on CM9? Someone using another one?
I see there are JB keyboards, 4.1.2 Xperia Keyboards?
Someone?
You can install any keyboard you like Just install the apk or copy over the apk & needed libs to your phone (app in /system/app and libs in the corresponding directory ) and set permissions 644 to get it working
Searching here would give you access to many different ones Reply here if you are looking for one in particular

There are many good keyboards on the play store. Fixing the keyboard requires assistance from the developer. Keep in mind the developer may not be able to read arabic to find out how to fix it. You will be better off getting a new keyboard unless a keyboard bug is doing it. You should raise the issue in the wanamlite forum.

is there anyway to get the stock one back from a stock rom or from somewhere else where there is no such this issue ???

Actually there are ways. Perhaps you can flash a keyboard mod available for your device. Like the S4/Note3 keyboard ports. Try this >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2513941 But your rom is odexed if im not mistaken you will have to delete certain odex files. Also be sure you have done a clean install and try to delete the data/cache of the keyboard you are trying to use in app manager
