[KERNEL][2.6.35.9][CWM] Custom kernel for the Samsung Galaxy S II stable-r2

About
This kernel is built from Samsung's official sources (available on github thanks to supercurio). It's clean, fast and it aims to be stable.
Please note that this kernel won't root your device automatically but you will be able to remount /system as r/w and then push Superuser apk and binary.
This kernel should work with any european ROM.
Features
ClockworkMod recovery 4.0.0.8
Stable Linux kernel 2.6.35.x (currently .9)
Deadline I/O scheduler tweaked for flash usage
SLQB slab allocator
/system/etc/init.d scripts support
"Insecure" mode
Some other tweaks and improvements
Download
Please remember that I'm not responsible of any damage caused to your phone.
gt-i9100_kernel-stable-r2.zip
md5 checksum: 5d8aa55604ef25de6cf8910337bc4365
Installation
Flash the .zip with Odin or the zImage with heimdall (heimdall flash --kernel /path/to/zImage).
I advice you to wipe cache, dalvik-cache and battery stats between updates.
Also, you should notice a better battery life after a full charging cycle.

It won't work with BLN Control app because, as we can't modify liblights, we need to manage blinking at kernel-level.

Found this tip you can use via the stock dailer:
"Enter this number *#*#197328640#*#* This will open the service mode menu.
Select option [5] AUDIO Select option [1] (VOICE CALL) Select option [2] HEADSET Select option [1] Volume Select option [1] SRC Speech RX Volume Select option [5] 5_lvl : 87 Press the menu button (left side) Choose Key Input Enter a value between 0 and 100, with 100 the loudest setting. Press ok"
This is for headset but you will also find other volume options here, maybe this can do what you want

wow i like this. hope BLN will come soon...
but, not working with tegrak overclock......dilemma!
The stock is 2.6.35.7, so a jump to the "final" 2.6.35.13 version is a useful improvement, thanks!
Do we require updated Samsung sources to be able to use newer kernel versions? In particular a 2.6.38 kernel with the Automatic process grouping patch would be very useful, not to mention some of the other improvements in PPP support from .37 which makes VPN much more useful.
Cheers.

Deadline is much better than BFQ for database-based systems like Android. On top of that, Deadline is tweaked for flash usage in this kernel.

[KERNEL]Droid DNA Cubed Kernel v3.1.3[02.13.13]Up to 3.4.30 and a few minor fixes.

Okay folks, no fancy graphics or information here. Searching this site will tell you any of the generic information you may be interested in. I am not going to clutter up things any more than I normally do. Which is already enough.
I need to make something very clear here. I'm sure it's just me, but I feel like I need to say it out loud, rather than just leaving it in my source. At least 90% of what I give you is other peoples original work, modified by me to run on whatever device I have. I don't do it to look smart, or be important, I do it 9 times out of 10 because there isn't something already out there. The vast majority of the options I give you are from amazing coders like show-p1948 and faux123. There are random snippets from others too. This time Zarboz contributed a lot in the beginning. I just wanted to make that clear. If you ever wanna know exactly who did something I put into a kernel, go look at the source. If I cannot get the original commit, with them as author, they are listed in the comment. If nobody is there but me, I actually did it.
So, here you go:
Droid DNA Cubed Kernel 3.1.3
Installation:
1. Unzip the file you downloaded.
2. Copy the Modules zip to the SDCard.
3. adb reboot bootloader
4. fastboot flash boot <file> (This will depend on where you unzipped to.)
5. Use menu on phone to go to recovery.
6. Flash Modules file in recovery.
7. Reboot
8. Profitt!
Please Note: This kernel removes some stock files you will need to use other kernels. Please flash this file before flashing anything else to return everything to stock.

It means that instead of assuming an unrecognized device is USB, it will assume AC, thus charging faster.

Im the first, im confused deep, why is there two wifi modules?
Edit: i guess ill wait for the auto install for modules, so i dont mess everything up,hihi
Sent from my LT22i using xda premium
Installed modules with terminal, got no confirmation. Rebooted, still no wifi. Checked root explorer, lib directory disappeared...
edit: oooh, should be system/lib ; I thought you meant root as in the top level
edit2: ugh no I just keep getting "not found" errors
follow this... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=35954752&postcount=833
just replace the m1.ko with the respective files names from the download
Thanks, but I'm having trouble getting adb to recognize my device. Sony PC companion recognizes it fine, usb debugging is on but it keeps saying no device found
ok then do the following...
1. put those 2 files into internal storage
2. open terminal emulator
Inside terminal emulator:-
su
cd /mnt/sdcard
mv cw1200_core.ko /system/lib/modules
mv cw1200_wlan.ko /system/lib/modules
cd /system/lib/modules
chmod 644 cw1200_*.ko
echo "insmod /system/lib/modules/cw1200_core.ko" >> /system/etc/hw_config.sh
echo "insmod /system/lib/modules/cw1200_wlan.ko" >> /system/etc/hw_config.sh
reboot

Did this (very painstakingly) in the phone terminal, rebooted- no change. I guess I wait for next update :/
also, above poster is right - no deep sleep
Wow it's a good things Deep has do a CM9 kernel excited to see it but I'm not using CM9

Bro there is no such bug, this kernel is the same as version 6, I only added two lines of code so the compiler sees the new IO schedulers that I forgot to add for version 6.
I'm also confused, you mentioned it here, and on the original thread, so which rom are you using now

Eason85 is wrong, there is deep sleep
I tried it again, I get "failed: cross-device link 255|[email protected]", when I try to edit permissions or install it tells me it's a read-only file system, but I'm root already...
I re-su'd and then tried again, I got "syntax error: 'newline' unexpected [email protected]: /system/lib/modules" then again and it's a read-only file system
I need someone to test for me, I will be making changes to the ramdisk to make it auto install those modules. who can help me with testing please?
I'd be happy to test, though I might not have time for the next 4-6 hours.
I'm having issues with adbshell but I'm not sure if it's cm 9.1 or the sd-card mounter's problem. It seems that whether MTP or MSD I can only access the command line while the auto-run dialogue of plugging the phone in is up. Once that is closed I lose my adb link and it immediately says device not found. Strange.

im using the latest firmware .75 im also confused, il try to flash the kernel again...maybe it was just a flux or something
As for current issues I'm having a strong feeling they are related to drivers, though I wont make it as the main reason for having those issues. Yet I will see what to be done but so far I've done many things and yet those issues remain. let's hope Sony release the new source code so we can finally find out what is causing the issue
also this kernel is built for CM roms you WILL face issues while using it with stock rom
@Eason85 As for your issue did you have such thing while using CM kernel?!
To be honest this kernel is the same as the one I made for stock rom, the only difference is the ramdisk.
I will be compiling it from FXP source but I found they are the same (my kernel and their kernel)
but maybe FXP made some changes to work with their rom.
I will be doing another build from their source code

Hi guys,
I compiled a kernel from the SM-P600 Lollipop sources for my personal use and thought I'd share, since there doesn't seem to be much kernel dev going on here. I want to make it clear that I'm not a programmer or developer, I just like to tinker.

Basic Troubleshooting
If sdcard/xluco_kernel/logs.txt doesn't show xboot.sh as being run, please run /sbin/xboot.sh manually! - very important for stability and will solve 99% of problems!
More:
If you'r WiFi stops working, or is forgetting passwords:
Edit your build.prop in: /system (you'll need to mount as R/W)
Find the line that says: ro.securestorage.support=true and change it to false.
If you're having FC issues, try removing all Samsung's KNOX apps, and change the following in build.prop
ro.config.tima=1 to 0
ro.config.knox=1 to 0
Hi,
Thanks for the kernel @xluco
I see you put this as 'Alpha' so is experimental or is it stable enough for flashing?
awesome
A lot of good stuff already, thanks! I'll be flashing shortly and post anything of interest.
Thinking about OC?

Hi, it's stable enough to flash. I won't release anything for download until I've been running it for a day or two on my own tablet. I just put 'alpha' because there aren't too many major changes from stock. I want to have it upstream to linux 3.4.89+ before I tag it v1.0.
hope that helps

Just a question but do you think that there is a way to enable ART compiler instead of Dalvik since we are now on Android 4.4.2?
Hey mate just reporting two issues. Got a random hard reboot & every bootup wireless key has to be entered

Usually, this means you need to edit the build.prop. Change ro.securestorage.support from "true" to "false" (may not be the exact wording, but close enough to get you there).
EDIT: It's also in the OP. I guess I missed it.
Yeah running my rom so should have it ?

in your changelog it says " Pen Inserted = digitizer off, even when not in battery saving mode "
does that mean you must use the pen to even use the device? i read that as when the pen is inside the device/stored then the digitizer is turned off so no touch input. im just curious.
i dont really have a interest in flashing as it hasnt really givin me a reason too take the risk yet as not enough changes but i still appreciate the work and hope for future releases.
and thanks for sharing
Can somebody tell me what pros a custom kernel has?
I don't know what the features in OP mean
Might of found another bug. Cant seem to rotate the screen 180 degrees. I had also just installed wanam xposed so it could an option i ticked in there. Maybe someone could check if 180 degree rotation still works after installing this rom.

Multi-rom compatible ?
@AuxXxilium, you might want to be a bit more specific about what this kernel is compatible with. Saying 'this kernel is only for Cyanogenmod' isn't specific enough, there are CM11 and CM11S for this device, both Cyanogenmod, but require different kernels.

Franco means this:
