Custom bumper case? - AT&T LG Optimus G

Has anyone purchased one of these cases in any of the colors? Judging by the pic it appears that it is one piece. I was thinking of getting one and then cutting out the back to make a sleeker fitting bumper case. I currently use the Belkin bumper, but would like a one the isn't as thick. What do you think?

I bought the white version of the case, should be getting it within the next few days. I'll let you know about the potential of converting it.

Interesting idea :good:
If the sides are strong enough to support the phone without the back?

Case just came in today. From the look and feel of it, it is very possible to convert it to a bumper case, it's a tight fit around the phone and the black portions that would make up the bumper case rap around the back of the phone just enough it feels to do it. I personally like the back panel so I won't be converting it. The other thing of note is that they made a space on the side of the phone so you can access the micro sd and sim port easily without removing the case, so that piece is missing, which may be an issue for a bumper case.
I posted about how the case is as a whole on the "E970 Case Links - For All Your Casing Needs" thread if you want to see pics and such.
Link to the post is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36112988&postcount=81
Hope this helps!

Thanks for your review. I actually don't like that the slot is open. I would much rather it be solid. I have no need to access the micro SD. I may go ahead and get one and cut the back out and see what it is like though.
I did buy this case yesterday and will let you know when it comes in. If you're interested in buying you can see the sellers information in the screen shot. There are several different colors available.

Yeah, please let us know how it is! I personally love hybrid cases so I may pick that up, this tpu case is a good cheap starter case, but if your review is good I may have to pick that up.

Looking forward to the results - I had the Belkin bumper but it was too bulky and returned it and bought a Diztronic case to hold me over until something better came out

Here are some pictures of the case.
First impressions are great.
Feels very nice
Fits snugly
Quality is very good
I have no idea why they exposed the screws in the bottom.
The power and volume buttons are covered but work fine. They are labeled and are flush with the case. The micro port as well as the headphone jack are over sized. I have a micro cable that normally I couldn't use that does for with this case.
I would definitely recommend this case.

Alternative white ATT battery cover?

Is there any battery covers with the same matte style like the black note, but for the white note? I don't care for how smooth and susceptible to marks it is. I'm considering swapping out for the black one if there is no alternative.
I don't like the feel of the white back either very slippery.

I guess we could take the free cover and detach the front cover and just use the back.

Yes! The back of the folio case that some got for free is MUCH nicer than the stock one. Its thicker, stiffer and grippier. It has the textured feel and hatched look.
Trim through flip cover off and viola.

i really want something minimum just to protect the stupid shiny back cover, like some 3m or something. I wish they just made it textured like the regular notes and s2.

I had something like this for my last phone (iphone 3gs). Make sure that you take it off once in a while to clean off the dirt that stuck in all that holes; dirt could scratch the surface of the back cover from friction. The look is awesome, btw.
Thanks. Good advice. Its also the lightest case I have.

I find that applying a full body shield that is a wet application type that yields a rubbery like finish is best route. I felt the same way about it being slippery so ordered one and have it sitting on my desk now waiting to be applied. I discovered this by accident when I applied one to my Vibrant and fixed the problem I hadn't intended to remedy. I know alot of people don't like wet type because of the rubbery like finish, but this may be a plus for you at this point, I know it is for me.

Would a case with finger holds built in make sense for this phone?

Seems like it might make one handed operation easier....

I have the flygrip on my Note. I like it a lot. It isn't perfect, because it doesn't spin around like the wisefinger the original poster showed us.
Yes...the flygrip is nice. It is expensive though for what you get. It is very compact when locked closed. It would be nice if it was somewhat movable like the rings on the wisefinger, to give it a little more flexibility. I really liked how the wisefinger showed the phone being rotated and still usable. The flygrip does not have that luxury.
So...I am actually thinking about finding a wisefinger and trying it next. I will use better adhesive than that "static cling" crap they use though!
I will try to get a picture of mine with a flygrip in a few, and let you see it.

I am kinda digging the Wisefinger. I think that would work well on the shinny Cases like the speck and the SGP ultra thin case. It can also be used as a stand and easily removed and reapplied.
Anyone using one of these for the note yet?

That was the only reason I ordered another one "Color Edge Leather Case ". I just received it by mail today but after inserting 4 cards, it became too thick and hard to close the button. Anyone else want to try this, the max is 3 cards. Also, the stand sticks out a little and it will be too easy to tear it while putting in my jean.
Overall, it is what I expected. Enjoy your case and hope top fits well.

I decided not to get that case in the OP because of the hard plastic that might scratch the phone, but I ended up getting a two-piece case off Amazon.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0065SGLRW/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00
It was only $2.89 so I had to try it out, I mainly got it because of the cutouts for the volume and power buttons.
Edit: Just in case someone was looking at buying this, it does cover up the top mic..
The pictures on Amazon show a different case which is very upsetting considering you can't even buy that one.
I got the Diztronic Matte Back Black Flexible TPU Case...
It costs almost $10 but It does the job perfectly and you get a screen protector free along with it...
But that's for the tip of the wrong picture on amazon. I do most of my shopping there and it is certainly a shame...

When do you think we'll get cases for G3's without the antenna cutout?

Considering Korean G3's are the only ones with the TV antenna, I'm wondering if we'll get cases without the cutout for that. How long do you think it will be before we start to see them?
There are plenty of cases without the cut out just look on again or eBay. We don't need a OP when they are already released. These were found within 30 seconds on amazon.
