I don't think you can S-Off yet with the latest. DirtyRacun may support it now I could be wrong. Watch Qbking77's videos on YouTube to unlock and root your device. Good luck and welcome.

If you are already on 2.09 hboot, I think you have to use the hboot downgrade method to brick your phone and install an earlier hboot which will let you run dirty racun. It is by no means easy, and I don't know if there is still support for that method.

Downgrading your Hboot doesn't brick your phone. I've been doing this with my OG evo

The only way to downgrade your HBOOT on this device IS to brick your phone (if you're S-ON, that is). I think you misunderstood. This device is much more locked down than the OG. "Forget everything you think you know."
But at this point, the downgrade method isn't supported (yet). I already bricked my Jewel trying it (granted, that was after the downgrade was completed successfully, but still).
The team that put together the downgrading tool is still working vigorously on confirming a method that will work reliably with the new HBOOT. Stay tuned.

^^^ This. The OG EVO and this phone are not the same. What worked on one won't necessarily work on the other. Just wait for an S-off exploit for the new Hboot, otherwise you'll end up with an expensive paperweight, like the Captain did:banghead:

Along the same lines.....
Once you have S-Off can you go ahead and RUU to the latest one.
I'm experiencing a bunch of problems since S-Off and thought this might fix them?

[Q] Ota then use RUU to downgrade hboot?

I was just wondering that if I did the OTA, someone said you could use the RUU in the development section. I was thinking that it couldn't downgrade the bootloader too though right? Since its been updated to a newer version?

nope it throws an error complaining about the bootloader version.
Yeah currently there isn't any way (that I know of) to downgrade the hboot from 1.40.
Well this blows...I have been noticing some bugs that are probably fixed with the OTAs...but I don't want to be screwed if the Devs figure out a way using the hboot 1.3. I know two others who have the OG Evo and the lady updated it in the store. They're screwed. Have been for 3 weeks already ssince the hboot ia secured and there's no exploit available. so I just don't want to take the chance that they did with updating the hboot.

Will Revolutionary be working on a way to root hboot 1.5.000?

Will Revolutionary be working on a way to root hboot 1.5.000?
I updated my phone like an idiot, lost root, and now I want root again.
I'm not stupid enough to do the HTC unlock though.
Yeah just hold off for now.
I'm shocked that quite a few of you did this update before checking here to see if it was ok. Knowing how our brand of "freedom" is frowned upon.

Is your hboot still S-off? If so, youre probably able to reflash recovery and regain root
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
You just need to follow the "UNROOT" instructions which will roll your Hboot back and then run Revolution again.... (*Or at least thats what I understand from all the reading I have done.) The method they used to get us permanent NAND unlock seems to truly be permanent so you just have to use the HTC Bootloader unlock, then use that to roll the HBOOT back in order to use Revolutionary.
*I have not done this and never will have to but this is my understanding. As always YMMV and if you BRICK IT,well, you already BOUGHT IT.

Hit up that guy who posted that reply. I am pretty sure he did it and redid it a couple times. (*I think)
FORGET IT! That guy actually still had his S-off from Revolutionary and DID NOT take the OTA which is how your NAND was relocked. For now, either sit tight and wait, again, for Rev and Unrevoked to hopefully cook something up or use the HTC method and enjoy half root.
Sorry bud....
I hope so... I was chatting yesterday with them at their IRC channel and they were saying it may not happen....

[Q]hboot 1.12 need s-off very confused..

hello all I'm kinda stuck... I have hboot 1.12 I would like to gain S-off but I cannot figure out what i need to do. I've been to the unlimited IO site it says it supports hboot 1.12/1.15/1.19 but there's an asterisk further down the page that states (If you have HBOOT 1.12 you must use the DirtyRacun process to upgrade your RUU to gain S-OFF.) what does this mean? and even more confusing is once you get down to step 7 on this page you only have two hboots to choose from. can anybody help?
Thanks in advance.
Sounds like you need to upgrade your hboot to 1.15 r 1.19 and then use dirty racoon. I'm pretty sure lazy panda is no longer available
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
I think you have to run one of the newer RUUs, then you can run the racoon.
Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2
How do I do this?
how do I get from hboot 1.12 to hboot 1.15?
I'm no pro, but I downloaded the RUU and renamed it to PJ75IMG and put it on my sdcard, rebooted into bootloader and hit yes when prompted to update.

The dirty racoon process involves relocking and running a RUU. This will prepare your phone for the s-off process. AFAIK just follow the directions and you'll be all set or if you wanna double check ask someone in that thread
I think your good to follow the steps

I am also on hboot 1.12 and am currently S-ON rooted and HTCDEV unlocked. Looking for an S-Off method other than DirtyRacun because I have x64 Windows and would really rather not update my hboot for S-OFF or mess around with Linux.
If I could get a hold of the Lazy Panda file would it be helpful based on my situation?

Yesterday I did the deed, and got S-OFF. I was running a 1.12 hboot after downgrading several months earlier. Had to RUU up to a 1.19 hboot for the Racun to do it's thing. Otherwise it was a quick, and painless operation. If you need help go the #unlimited IRC channel on freenode.net.
If you're already hboot 1.12, lazypanda is a simple executable that needs no more than administrative privileges and 5-10 minutes.

Why not upgrade from 1.12 to 1.19 to use dirtyracun? Only reason why not to upgrade before was because there wasn't an s off method for 1.19 lol

Problem now is, Lazy Panda is no longer supported by Team Unlimited. If you get into a tight spot and need help, you're potentially going to be screwed. Having said that, myself and many others have successfully used it since support for it ceased. Risk versus reward, I suppose.

On the contrary, I'd love to be s-off, I simply choose not to use the htcdev route. I was s-off before my mini sd port took a crap and I had to swap. Sadly I now have hboot 1.19 and can no longer use panda.
So my thinking was if I can at least get root until a method to s-off doesn't involve using htcdev comes along, I'd be happy.

You can't flash a custom recovery without unlocking your bootloader and part of the S-OFF process requires you to unlock your bootloader using htcdev
I'm just going to assume the answer is no since everyone seems to be dancing around it. Not trying to be a jerk, it's just that almost every question I ask on this site turns into a debate rather than someone simply saying yes or no.
