1.First of all you have to update on ICS ! ICS Firmware should not be higher than 6.1.1.B.1.10 !
2.Once done! Root your Xperia on ICS ! (Extract Folder "Xperia P U Go ICS root") and click "Runme.bat"
(Follow screen indication)
3. After rooting you have to backup your rootfiles !(Extract Folder "Xperia-ROOT backup and Repush") For doing this launch the Command called "01-local-prop.cmd" your rootfiles will be stored in Data!
4.Now flash back to GB 2.3.7 with Flashtool and DATA UNCHECKED ! Important! otherwise you will loose the backed-up Root-files
5.After rebooting you will get a bunch of Force Close and simply ignore & close it! (Because Data wasn't wiped during Flashing)
6.Now with USB-Debugging on you have to re-push your rootfiles again ! For doing this launch the Command called "02-push-root-files.cmd"
7.Once done perform a Factory Reset and you're done! You are now on a rooted GB 2.3.7 with an still locked Bootloader without lost DRM
feature!
8. If you want you can still install an CWM recovery for you GB2.3.7 ! Use the ICS-CWM one ! (Example CWM 6.0.1.2 for Xperia P)
I did it on an Xperia P , U , GO !
So Again there is no need to unlock your Bootloader for rooting your phone in GB!! :angel:
Now Have fun !!

Without Unlocking Boot loader its impossible to root on GingerBread but in ICS you can root withought have your bootloader unlocked..

If you are using .54 fw then flash the .10 fw via flashtool then use bin4ry tool to get root access. And then flash. 54 fw.

I experienced the same problem. My Xperia Sola can not be rooted event using binh4ry method. My Sola is using 4.0.4 android version, and has build number 6.1.1.B.1.54.

You can find all the firmwares and roms available for Sola HERE.
But to root you need not flash back to .10 firmware,you can just acquire root access by flashing .10 kernel->root using binary's methd->then again flash .54 kernel.
You can find both the kernel files HERE.

I have found a way to allow the PC companion look up for the Android 4.0.4 upgrade .
1. Downgrade your firmware to ST25_6.0.B.1.564 . File available from this link.
2. Flash the file using flash tool. Then reboot the phone.
3. Allow the phone to settle down
4. connect the phone to PC companion. It will show you an upgrade is available.
5. Continue with your upgrade

If it provides a bloatware free rom, it's not that useless as one might think
bloatware free? It only depends on si number that u have when updating and all Sony`s ICS builds have apps that many people don`t actualy need.. So this is useless thread...

Agree with Pipi. Anyway there is still possibility to upgrade ICS directly via SUS
Although it comes with bloatware, it is not needed root to uninstall these apps, you'll get a clean rom easy.
Yes yes, in apps you can see appr. 5 apps whose can be uninstalled manually. Everything else is integrated into ICS : Facebook-related apps and Google-related apps.And few others. But for uninstalling these integrated FB and Google apps you need root. I uninstalled almost everything :cyclops:

This is not a custom kernel
It's just a plain official Ics. 587 fw for Indian region!
And yea it can be flashed using flashtool on locked bl
But as you said custom kernels can't be flashed on locked bl
Well that's an altogether different story!

Do you need ICS.... If yes then just download stock ICS ftf file for your mobile and flash using flashtool.......

if you want to take full advantage of Custom ROM's then you have to Unlock your BL......
you can then install CM, MIUI ROM's which are well known custom ROM's......
if you unlock your BL then you will loose warranty

Disagree. You will not lose warranty. Just relock BL if problems occur. I modded my sola to ****, it got bricked, relocked the bootloader, so sony fixed it for free.

It automatically integrates atis112 patch into a CM9 rom that is for unlocked bootloader like SlimCM and others.
Just browse for the zip file select your phone model and click apply.
It should work with windows 7 also, i tested it only on windows 8

I don't know because it uses the original patch files from atis post so if the camera worked with the original it should work with this.

I just installed CM9 fxp 211 successfully locked bootloader I say a big thank you for this great patch
Patched the XperiaPremiuM™ v5 - FINAL rom and flashed successfully at my XGO with locked bootloader. Everything seems to work fine, including camera.
Many thanks for making a way to easily patch roms for unlocked bootloader and make them flashable for devices with LBs. :good:
Edit: Wifi fix wasn't patched automaticaly so I had to copy paste the wififix file myself manually. TBH I placed the file in init.d folder with root explorer and then rebooted and everything was fine. I haven't discovered any other problem.

Why not integrating his pach directely in cwm recovery?
If the recovery "know" the state of your phone (unlocked or not), the recorevy can "automagicely" pacth any cm9 rom.

stock roms or stock based roms dont need patching
