Well, you might want to provide your recent history with the device e.g. have you recently flashed a new firmware etc?
only time I lost my IMEI number was after 'upgrading' to XXLK3 from XXLK2.
I downloaded the split F/W from these forums for XXLK2 and XXLK3 (I need the BTU CSC thats in XXLK3) I make bastard flash in ODIN Odin3_V3.07 using the pit file and re-partitioning (PLEASE DO NOT RE-PARTITION UNLESS YOU HAVE THE FILE: cooperve_0623.pit)
I used the PDA from XXLK2 the MODEM from XXLK3 and the CSC from XXLK3 every thing works well thith latest Rafeal kernel (E3 Version) so it fits me OK. I am looking for CWM on latest Rafeal Kernel to be compatiable with RFS so I can use my custom cooked Rom seeing as I cant get EXT4 to work...
Hope this helps?

s5830i blank IMEI
This link worked for me but with one change.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=33563594#post33563594
When i did *#06# there was no IMEI. I can not make calls or SMS. Everything else including wi-fi, bluetooth worked fine.
Upon rooting my s5830i and using Android Mate or ES File Explorer, the /efs folder was empty. I did not see any files in it what so ever. Even selected Show hidden Files option in the file explorer settings. Still /efs folder was empty. I could not add files to the /efs folder or not even delete it so that it gets recreated upon boot as suggested in some other posts. All the posts related to hex editing of nv_data.bin were of no use. I felt miserable for not having a backup of the /efs folder.
However, Galaxy Toolbox (available on Google Play Store) was able to Backup EFS Partition. It created
/sdcard/GalaxyToolbox/EFSpart.img.SAVE and /sdcard/GalaxyToolbox/EFSpart.img.TMP. So that was strange. However I did not know what to do with this backup until I saw the link mentioned above.
I followed exactly the same steps in that post by replacing the following
1. / sdcard/SGYunlock/bml15.img.SAVE in my case was /sdcard/GalaxyToolbox/EFSpart.img.SAVE
After applying those steps and a reboot, *#06# showed up my correct IMEI.
Phone Details:
Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-S5830i
PDA: S5830IXXLD3
CSC: S5830IODDLD2
MODEM: S5830IDDLD1
PCode : GT-S5830OKIINS
Model Number: GT-S5830i
Android Version 2.3.6
Baseband Version S5830iDDLD1
Kernel Version 2.6.35.7 [email protected]#1
Build Number GINGERBREAD.XXLD3

More trouble with IMEI on s5830i...
Hi everyone. I have a similar, yet apparently a tad bit different problem with IMEI on my phone.
As with everyone else, typing *#06# shows an empty IMEI, and when I open Settings --> About Phone --> Status, it says "unknown" for IMEI, and "01" for IMEI SV.
However, I am able to make calls, send SMS, connect to mobile internet, etc. Also, when I run the Galaxy Toolbox and check phone details there, the Toolbox sees my IMEI normally. And if I backup the EFI partition and open it in Hex editor, my IMEI is there, as it always was.
For now, the only solution to getting back my phone to see it's own IMEI is to flash it back to stock ROM via Odin, and not to touch anything. It seems that whenever I try to install a custom kernel (i.e. one of the kernels compiled by the fine people here at XDA Developers), my IMEI disappears, and nothing short of an Odin flash will return it.
I've tried the method mentioned in this thread, but to no avail.
Am I doing something wrong? If so, what?

Now I can flash my device with a different kernel or ROM, and the IMEI is still there.
Just thought I'd share that info with you... hope it helps someone. Cheerio~

No mmi code!!
Now I'm faced with the problem that when I try and send a text it fails and when I dial my mmi which is *#10# it continuously say 'connection problem or invalid mmi code'
Any ideas?
It was working fine until one time I lost 3G connectivity and couldn't call or text (on cm7.2 RC4)
I flashed stock through Odin (xxlk3) but the problem is still there. Please help soon as possible as this is a big problem for me

Stock ROM without IMEI
Hmm,
the HexEditor method doesn't work for me, because it is not showing any IMEI inside.
Galaxy Toolbox also doesn't show my IMEI.
I flashed back to Stock ROM (taken the open Australia stock rom from the UNBRICK tutorial).
After successfully flashing back (did factory reset and wipe cache before flashing back), IMEI is still not shown.
What am I doing wrong?
I had AOSP 2.3.6 Firmware installed before.
Is that any chance to get my IMEI back again?

Have you tried typing the IMEI into the EFI file through HexEditor? Check out the scrots in this thread to see where the IMEI should be, and type it in there.
Also, backup everything first. Including the "faulty" EFI file you dumped from your phone.

Can't make calls after official ICS update through ODIN!

I followed this guide ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ihFRsquw_8E&feature=g-hist&context=G2816d54AHT2JnXgAAAA) to get the official ICS update.
I know the update was for Nordic countries and I live in Sweden so I flashed it through odin.

I asked the uploader and he said "Go in to recovery mode and wipe cache and factory reset" so I did.

Have you backed up your EFS folder before flashing?
What you have is a standard IMEI, meaning, that IMEI is for phones that are displayed on stores.
First, try re-flashing the package. If that doesn't work, re-flash only the modem.
If even that doesn't work, follow this guide : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1264021

I dont think I have since I don't even know what an EFS folder is
I am going to try all of these.
By the way when you guys (assuming you too have an 19100 and have upgraded to the official ICS rom) press and hold the power button, do you get the menu for silent mode, 3g network, shut down etc or does it just shut down immediately?
My friend have a similar problem too, he got a problem with CSC Unknown and he can't call, text and all phone features....
The real problem where i can find the flashable CSC files because all link are dead

Well... You should ALWAYS backup your /efs folder. Your /efs folder is literally your phone and is what distinguishes a phone from a gaming mini-console
I have that menu, and I'm sitting on LPB, waiting for something more stable LPB...
Always always always backup that damn EFS folder
That imei number is a generic one so you have lost your unique number.
Try this threadhttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1264021
There are others to search for. As a last resort search for odia. He/her has the knowledge to fix it.
Otherwise return for jtag repair.

I'm sorry to hear you lost your IMEI but I hope this will teach you to inform yourself better before doing something like flashing in the future. Anyway simply reflashing the firmware might help it, it certainly helped me twice.
If you get it back make sure you back it up, so you wont have to go through this again.. There are a bunch of apps that can do it for you so it really isnt all that hard.
Anyway, good luck!

I only have one big (622 mb) .tar.md5 file, should I flash that in the modem?
I am having the exact same problem, although my IMEI number seems fine. By that I mean it is not the generic one previously posted.
I can not connect to my carrier network, or do anything else network related for that matter.
My phone also turns off when I tap the power button once, I do not get that standard menu.
Any suggestions?

[Q] Corrupt EFS 0049 IMEI

Hi,
I purchased a I9100 secondhand online, the previous owner tried unlocking it and corrupt the EFS and it was not recognizing the SIM when I got it.
So I flashed I9100XWKK5 and have run the repair tool on play store and tried deleting EFS manually (after backing up) also run EFS Pro but no luck in putting my IMEI back on.
I have come across this tool unlocksamsungonline.nl/unlock-samsung-I9100, they claim to be-able to fix the IMEI, before I buy the login has anyone tried this before and does it work?
TIA

Users have mixed results when repairing /restoring the EFS folder. You can search and I mean thoroughly search every folder on the phone for a backup of the folder. Previous owner may have rooted the phone and many custom Roms and kennels backup the EFS folder as part of the installation process.
All the best

No backup means you have 3 options:-
1) Service centre/authorised repairer.
2) Local mobile repair shops (you may find one who is capable of doing the things Odia/service centre can do).
3) Contact Odia by PM & wait patiently for a response (which means no sending him 'reminders' - if you do, he'll quite rightly ignore you. He isn't your servant). He may be able to recover your IMEI (for a small 'donation'). But on the other hand, I'm not even sure if he still does this kind of thing (he used to). I cannot stress the 'send him 1 PM & wait' enough. You may think this is urgent, he won't. So if you do go down this path, respect that.
SHW M250 no signal after flashing to I9100 ROM
I flashed my SHW-M250s with I9100 4.0.4 ROM, everything was working good for about 2 months,
suddenly my IMEI changed to 0049 fake IMEI and I lost signal on SKTEL.
I tried to reflash with SHW-M250S after that my IMEI is ok but still no signal and an unknown text appear on the home screen whenever I flash with SHW-M250S ROM, (SCREENSHOT ATTACHED). also I tried different ROMS of SHW M250S and still same problem.
whenever I flash to I9100 my IMEI changes to 0049 fake imei,, and when I flash to SHW-M250s no signal and an unknown text but the IMEI changes to original.
I tried to insert different network SIM with SHW-M250 S ROM, it was working, but still that annoying text on home screen is there.
Also I tried everything on this Forum , try to repair EFS folder etc but no luck.
Do anyone has the idea...?
Please reply to me.
You're mixing thing up here, try backing up your EFS folder while on m250s, make sure you back it up with 2 or 3 app. (ktool and simlar).
Keep flashing your devices ROM till you get all networks going and stick to the cell's original region.
Now, once on I9100, start with GB ROMs.
And then some, try sii_repair from play store and give it a shot at restoring those previous back ups with the same tools.
Try to keep them ROMs apart till you solve one of the two issues.

I tried everything you mentioned but still no luck.
Is it possible that SKTEL has blocked my IMEI on their network.
While I still can access other networks..?
Check you IMEI status online.
Don't think so tho, if it would be blacklisted then you wouldn't be able to use any nerwork.
Are you using the same partition lay out for m250s & I9100?

I am using diffrent PIT files for each I9100 and M250s.
On the online status it shows an old model of Samsung, not the SHW-M250s while it says IMEI is ok.
Alright, when in "I9100 mode" flash from GB to JB (thru ICS 4.0.3 and 4.0.4).
We need to see if you get your IMEI right at some point on those ROMs.
Flash CM 10.1 to see if that helps.
You're not having any trouble with m250s ROMs right?

IMEI Issue with jellyblast

Hi,
I have a strange issue with Galaxy ACE S5830i.
Followed the below thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1968360&highlight=imei
The IMEI does not show up when i install jellyblast cfw. With stock rom(flashed with ODIN) works good and I can see the IMEI number.
These are the steps i did
Flashed stock rom with odin.(Everything works)
Got a backup of the EFS using Galaxy toolbox.
Opened with HEX Editor. My IMEI is there!
Installed the Jellyblast mod. IMEI is lost at this point
Restored the backup from the stock rom flash.
IMEI still missing.(after reboots)
Also noticed this. I flashed kernel alone with after flashing stock rom--> same IMEI missing.
Can some one please help me as I am very new to this
Thanks

I guess i know how this problem occurs...
I will give you a complete background of how this all happened.
I installed jellyblast 3.0.3 over the stock rom(comes preinstalled with mobile)
. Everything looked beautiful. IMEI was there ofcourse.
I suddenly realized i wanted stock rom.(Curious to see how stock rom worked).
Googled Googled and Goolged again.. Found ODIN and downloaded firmware from SAMMOBILE.
Flashed . all gone... infinite loop on boot screen
Now I just have a soft bricked phone
Googled again found an unbrick guide for s5830i in the link
Now unbricked the phone using above link. Everything worked well now and i had stock rom.
After this I installed Jellyblast... IMEI lost.
Reverted to stock rom using ODIN.... IMEI there
Checked EFS folder IMEI there. Backed up efs using galaxy toolkit from stock rom. Restored in jellyblast. Still no luck.
I checked EFS file. The IMEI is there.
Hope this helps someone to troubleshoot. Thanks for your time
Thanks
Try this :
Take lib directory from stock rom where imei is known and extract it.(you can get it from your phone or by splitting firmware)
open the rom zip file go to lib dir and extract libandroid_runtime.so to stock libs dir.
delete lib dir from zip file and add the new one.
Flash the rom and kernel modules.

still there was no IMEI
And even when my IMEI is restored

I am using data2sdext
But I did not encounter this problem before
I am using it since 3 months
And IMEI came back for sure if I flashed stock firmware
But now it doesn't....
Did you try stock rom without using any script ? it maybe the script which is creating problems

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1968360&highlight=imei
The IMEI does not show up when i install jellyblast cfw. With stock rom(flashed with ODIN) works good and I can see the IMEI number.
These are the steps i did
Flashed stock rom with odin.(Everything works)
Got a backup of the EFS using Galaxy toolbox.
Opened with HEX Editor. My IMEI is there!
Installed the Jellyblast mod. IMEI is lost at this point
Restored the backup from the stock rom flash.
IMEI still missing.(after reboots)
Also noticed this. I flashed kernel alone with after flashing stock rom--> same IMEI missing.
Can some one please help me as I am very new to this
Thanks

Without any script
BTW, I think it is solved for now because IMEI has not gone after 3 reboots
I flashed Rafael modules last time I went to recovery

Is this problem still occurring for you iamareebjamal? I'm having the exact same issue, using the same ROM and scripts. Sometimes a reboot will kill my imei, sometimes it won't

Move Galaxy Toolbox to Phone via Settings
And then try to restore before Media Scanning starts. Because Media Scanning resets network and IMEI is lost again if Media Scanning starts. After restoring, Reboot ASAP
However, by this method too, I loose my IMEI after every reboot. But by this method, it gets restored in one go.

Thanks for the tip
Tried reverting back to Jelly Blast today (went back to stock via odin, IMEI was there and appeared to stick) and not suffering the IMEI loss. Strange to think it would be a Simplicity specific issue for us. The reason I left Jelly Blast was because of recurring GPS issues.
Oh well, if you could let me know if you find a more permanent solution in the future it would be greatly appreciated :good:

[Q] Root -> ... -> imei changed to trash what to do?

[Q] Root -> install font-> Stuck on boot screen -> fail actions -> imei changed what to do?
Okay guys... sad day here in finland. ATM: My imei is 004999010640000, which i believe is full trash (?), i got no connection to cellular networks, and i still have to pay this phone for a year.
What i did:
Tried to root it - Succeed.
Tried to install font - stuck on samsung logo.
Tried to wipe data/factory reset - still stuck
Tried to root again but without kies installed - still stuck
Tried to wipe data/factory reset - still stuck
I panic: try to install the whole android again with putting this in odin: I9300XXEMC3_I9300NEEEMC1_I9300XXEMB6_HOME.tar.md5 i downloaded it from some link here in xda thinking it was the right one because NEE is the nordic countries code. Well.
It went through, but imei was ^^ and so. Then i tried this: (mods please make it a spoiler, i dont know how)

I deleted my IMEI number when flashing roms a few days ago and it was showing as 000000...
I searched everywhere for a recipe of how to restore it and could not find one that would work. The closest that I got was a brilliant post (see link below) describing how to restore the IMEI on a SGS2 i9100. After following this recipe, I was able to restore my IMEI number to 0049 .... which is just as useless as 0000....
It took me a couple of days of research (and HUGE thanks to everybody whose previous research I was able to use) and I finally succeeded in restoring my IMEI using the 9 step process that I describe below. I can't guarantee that it will work and I do not know if it will work on any device besides the SGS3 GT-i9300 (international SGS3), because this is the only device that I have and was able to test the process on.
Links:
Restore IMEI on SGS2: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1264021
Download EFS PRO: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1308546
Download your original firmware using check fus downloader (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1032437&page=18)
You need:
-EFS PRO, a brilliant little program for Windows used to backup / restore the efs folder as well as recover / repair the nv_data*.bin files.
-Windows
-Windows USB drivers
-Rooted SGS3
-Root explorer.apk
-Original phone firmware (actually, you only need the modem.bin file, so once you download your firmware package, you can just extract the modem.bin file).
-Odin or Heimdall
Your phone's IMEI number is stored in the ".nv_data" file in the original shipped efs folder.
Process:
1. make a copy of your EFS folder using root explorer and store it somewhere safe (on your SD card and external SD card should do it).
2. delete the EFS folder from the root of your phone using root explorer.
3. reboot the phone
4. open root explorer and go to the EFS folder (yes, it is still there! The Android OS has generated a new one for us) and delete the following files:
nv_data.bin
nv_data.bin.md5
nv.log
.nv_data.bak
.nv_data.bak.md5
nv_data.bin.bak
and the entire IMEI folder.5.Now go to your backed up EFS folder on your sd card and copy the IMEI folder and the " .nv_data" file (note the dot) to your new EFS folder.
6.Make another copy of the ".nv_data" file in your new EFS folder. Rename one of them to "nv_data.bin" and the other one to "nv_data.bin.bak".
7. Connect your phone to your PC and start up EFS PRO. After your phone has been detected, press the "Repair nv data" button to correct the ownership and permissions.
8. Reboot your phone into recovery mode using the three botton combo and flash the original modem firmware (the modem.bin file that you extracted earlier) to your phone using Odin (use the "phone" button for the upload) or Heimdall (use the "radio" partition for the modem.bin file upload).
9. Reboot the phone normally and your IMEI number will be restored and you will be able to connect to your mobile network again
Good luck and let me know how it goes

So... because i got no backup of my efs and installing stock rom with odin keeps my imei corrupted it has to go to service, isnt there any other way? And can i boot it to some kinda mode after making my custom flash counter 0 so i could take it to service and make them fix it for free (since 2 year warranty, expired if counter over 0 still left. Thanks for patience.

[SOLVED]Service problems after installing costum ROM

After having S3 for some months, I decided to update it to 4.3.
So I searched online and saw some tutorials how to root and install costum ROMs.
I read few tutorials to be sure how to do that and after all went good and the ROM installed, One problem has rised: NO SIGNAL!
so I wiped all and installed a ROM STOCK.
After that the signal came back "half way". It's showing signal bars but I can't call to anyone, even after calling to my provider...
I just don't know what to do. Please help

well these tutorial you've read were either very bad or you haven't read them correctly, because probably you missed the important step of the efs backup. see therefor the stickies thread or the thousands of similiar questions here in the q&a.

That is your backup flash with odin
( When you flashed a custom rom it probably backed up your efs some roms backup by default)
I would just backup your efs you have at the moment just in case you have problems flashing. You will then be able to return to how your efs is now even though it is not fully working..
Or try this app >> https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.hellcat.droiddev.ktool <<
The phone has to bee rotted to use ktool?
I also understand from the link you did about the EFS that there are two types of base bands and if I have an efs backup that I did on V1 baseband so I can't restore it on a v2 baseband, so my conclusion is to get back to 4.1.2... correct me if I am wrong

good that you found efs backup
yes you need root. or you use the recovery philz touch to restore your efs (then you don't need root, but a custom recovery).
well samsung roms based on 4.3 need efs v2, so you have to go back to 4.1.2 to restore your efs v1 backup.
if everything is working again, I would suggest you to use oding to upgrade to 4.3, because then everything should be updated correctly (but keep your efs backup, and make another one, just to be sure)
then you can try out again custom roms based on sammy 4.3
So what is the best option to restore it?
Because before I tried (while 4.3 stock rom was installed) the flash it with Odin but Odin always crashed when I was uploading it to Odin.
With kTool I tried before but when I am clicking on the button it says that it restored but he didn't asked for directory, when do I need to put it?
The same story with phliz, I also tried with this and he don't asks for directory, only asking whan the ending if the file-tar to bin...

Just extract the efs.tar and copy its contents to /efs.

Where is this folder located? I can't find it
and does it for xTool and phliz recovery destinations for teaking the recovery from?
Edit:
I found the /efs. I dind't know that I need to use root explorer...
I exchanged the files with my back up and suddenly instead of 0049 IMEI I got 0000 IMEI.
I tired also to flash a modem and also didin't work...

Hmm... try installing another EFSv2 modem, then do the /efs copying part again.
Suddenly after so restarts, the IMEI got back
But... The SN now is 0000000000
You'll need to correct the permissions of the files you've copied. Try searching for someone who already did this and duplicate what they did.

Ok,
I tried something new. I flashed a new modem, backed up a full backup and then installed a costum rom 4.3.
the IMEI GOT BACK! And even the SERIAL NUMBER!
But I think the serial number is not good because he has 16 or 17 (I don't remember) digits (numbers and letters).
But still i have signal bars but can't make or receive calls he says: "No registered on network"
For the finalle, I tried ARIZA patch but he Is stuck on 0%...
here I stopped, I really don't know what to do.
Don't use the Ariza patch once you've got your IMEI and SN back. Maybe try flashing a new stock version of Android with a EFSv2 baseband so as to not go through the copying fiasco.
