[Q] Screwed up my 4.1.2 update...can somebody give me a hand? - Motorola Droid RAZR

So, i was happily running the update, when i made a mistake that bricked my phone. I tried to restore a safestrap backup from earlier(still on the leak, though), and it succeeded...but when i tried to reboot, the phone wouldnt boot and the bootanimation was kind of screwy looking, and was blue. Could not get into android. So, i booted up stock recovery to try and reinstall the update, but couldnt because i had replaced the default gmail apk in /system with an inverted one. (The error message specifically referenced gmail.apk) Also, like an idiot, i uninstalled some verizon bloatware via titanium backup. I can , however, still get into safestrap. Anybody have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
Update: restored to .211 via droidrazr utility, got into stock recovery and reinstalled jb ota. I Iost root, but hey, at least I'm not bricked! Lol....merry christmas to everyone!

HELP ME! PLEASE! Urgent!

Okay, I just rooted my brother's HTC Hero (GSM Unlock) and updated it to 2.1 Villain, but there were some bugs, like in the messages app, the key board wouldn't show up in a conversation. FB Sync wouldn't sync pictures to his contacts. Is there any way I can downgrade back to the original 1.5? If so, can anyone give me a link to download that .zip? thanks!
*note* I tried flashing the official 2.1 update, it failed
And what is a Nandroid backup? Can I restore it with that?

You really should have read up before just rooting and flashing. A nandroid backup is a backup of the phone so you can restore to how it was before you started to play with it.
You can download the rom you require here.
You should have done a Nandroid backup before trying to flash a new ROM, this is a MUST DO everytime you plan on messing around with the phone, it would simply let you restore the backup back to normal.
You need to do a full wipe of the phone and flash the new ROM posted above.
Jamie.
Can I just flash a stock rom of the HTC Hero generic? I flashed a rooted one, but I keep getting this notification about an OTA,I tried installing it, but it fails. If I flash a stock rom (if possible) can I install the OTA's?
I seem to be having somewhat the same problem.
Although I didnt flash my hero to that custom rom you're mentioning.
The problem is that I've been running the modaco 3.0 rom for quite a while and wanted to get the stock 2.1 rom.
I've tried to flash it using the HTC tool but couldn't be done. I accidently overrided my nandroid backup of the stock 1.5 rom so I found a stock 1.5 on modaco's forum and flashed it.
Now I'm running 1.5, build 2.73.405.5
Every time I wipe the phone and start from scratch (setting up the phone as if it was new) I get a notification about a new OTA update. When I try to update it, the phone resets (seems fine) and it ends up in Nandroid and doesn't get any further.
Then I chose to reboot the phone and the phone runs as normal but still no new firmware.
What am I doing wrong?
I've also tried the HTC tool for flashing the ROM but end up with a connection error (170).
I have of course wiped the phone but it doesn't help...

I have the same problem! And when I do flash 2.1, the keyboard never appears when I go to the messages app. I just flashed an official stock 2.73.405.66 build, what if I do the OTA? Will it fail too? 'Cause I think it fails because last time, my phone was rooted.
Anyone got help? :-/

[Q] Moto Razr Maxx - TB OTA not working

OK. I got my Maxx a few days ago, rooted and downloaded TitaniumBackup to freeze some apps.
I deleted a few apps thinking I'd never use them, but as it happens the backup I did before deleting them was corrupt. There's no way to get the apps back...SOOO as I'm downloading the OTA update it fails saying the /system/app/dnla.apk is wrong.
Yes...I deleted DLNA and News 2.3.5 and can't get the files back.
Is there a way to flash the phone back to complete stock...no root...no nothing so I can get the OTA? My bad for rushing into things, but it's been so long since using a Moto device I can't remember how to flash it back to stock.
I held the Vol+- and power, went to Recovery and did a factory wipe but it's still rooted and I need to get it back to stock.
Ideas? Flame on.
Thanks
S
I run into the same issues while trying to install the update. I ended up following the directions in the following link.

CWM Not Restoring Properly

I updated my SGS2 from Gingerbread to ICS today via Kies. Before I did so, I made a backup with CWM. I have since decided to downgrade back to GB, however when I try to do so with CWM, it does not work properly.
I have successfully reverted back to GB, but none of my apps or contacts have been restored. Strangely, all my messages have been successfully restored, and even my wallpaper.
I have tried flashing the stock GB ROM through Odin and then trying to restore with CWM again, but I am experiencing the same result.
I am confident that the CWM backup is not in any way corrupt, as I have tried to restore previous CWM backups also, which I know for certain have worked in the past, but to no avail.
I would really appreciate some help with this issue, as I would rather not have to go to the trouble of installing and tweaking everything again if I can help it, not to mention the fact that I have lost all my contacts.
EDIT: if it helps, I was able to update via kies because I used SpoofFW
Bump

[Q] Bricked in a BIG way

Alright, here's the problem, when the official jb 4.1.2 update came out a few days ago I decided to re-root and try a custom rom (tried on ICS but never was successful, also never bricked). I rooted fine and updated to safestrap 3.11, found a cm 10.1 rom online, went through all the steps but never wiped the stock system so every time I tried to boot it would try to dual boot and not work. I finally realized that i was wiping the rom system and not the stock which was why it would never work. So, wiped both caches, factory reset, and system wiped as per instructed and after that I installed the cm 10.1 in rom slot 1. Rom booted great worked fairly well but was a bit buggy for the first day, installed gapps no problem. After messing with it for a day I decided to switch back to stock system because i had all my contacts on backup assistant which wasnt available on the cm rom. when i tried to restore stock, I realize that somehow my backup got erased or something because all it is is an empty folder and took no time at all to restore, also wont boot. Any suggestions?
Phone specs (idk if it matters): XT912 CDMA Droid RAZR 4.1.2 (or was anyway)
PS. sorry for the super long post, i was kinda venting

Wouldn't that just root me and not take me back to OTA JB? I used the same program to re-root after the update from ICS to JB a few days ago.
Matt's Utility also has a "flash back to stock" option.
Alright, I got my phone back on track without needing a factory cable which was the route everything was going until I found a post about a work around by outfieldslayer on droid forums, anyone else who has this problem, just search "HELP battery died during flash!". Thanks to shobon and Gus194 for pointing me in the right direction and special thanks to mattlgroff for his work on the Razr utility!

[Q] Nabi2 v2.1 Root and Gapps

I was going to post this in reply to this thread, but since I'm new it won't let me: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1905674&page=165
So here's my problem. We have 2 Nabi's in our house both rooted with Gapps installed. One is working fine, one was having issues with charging and the screen locking up. I decided to try to un-root the one with the problems and see if I could get a replacement. I then realized that there was a software update, so I decided to try to update first before being without a tablet for any amount of time for a warranty issue.
My plan was to restore to a backup I had, install the OTA update, then re-root it and install Gapps again. All went well with the restore and OTA update, but now I'm stuck at not being able to install root or gapps! I get no errors on the scripts and everything seems to complete fine, but when I boot up again there is no root and no gapps. Post 1647 in the link above indicates it could be a space issue which makes sense, but now my question is how do I delete anything in the system/vendor/app folder without root access?
Both root.zip and gapps.zip were pushed to the tablet and when I select install through TWRP it goes through the process really quick with no errors and says it is complete, but it doesn't appear to be actually doing anything.
Any help/advice is greatly appreciated!
Ok, I think I may have figured this out. I ended up restoring back to my un-rooted stock backup which took me back to version 2.05 with no modifications. I was then able to install root and gapps. I then used the update file provided here to update:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=45369304&postcount=1605
When I tried this file the first time before doing any sort of restores it kept failing because I was missing a bunch of files after going delete happy to get rid of all of the bloat. Since I restored to the stock backup it installed fine and I'm now on 2.1 after almost a whole day of messing with this. Now I just have to remove all of the bloat again and restore apps.
So is it safe to say there is an issue with 2.1 and the standard root/gapps files? At least now I know before I try to update the other daughter's tablet. Now to see if the update resolved some of the issues we've been having with this one....
