Cyberon Voice Commander Works 10x than JB Voice Search, But... - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

Ok, I took the advice of using a 3rd Party App for Bluetooth Dialing from the Bug on Jelly Bean.
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=35199&q=bluetooth voice dial&colspec=ID
First I Tried EVA. Which was very nice but it would only work ONCE per boot. 2nd Time it would prompt on the handset when I clicked the Bluetooth button.
Then I tried Cyberon Voice Commander. This works perfectly. But I can't get the Default to Stick across reboots. Every time I reboot I get "Complete Action Using" list. It works PERFECT after that and does not require the Network and does confirmation. There is no trial you have to buy and you have 12 minutes to test it. I think we should start a petition against Google on that. You should have 24 hrs to evaluate.
If I uninstalled Google Search I can get it to Cyberon to Stick (because it's the only choice on Bluetooth and does not prompt at all). But if you do that you lose Voice initiated Navigation which I use all the time. Google Voice Dial also works fine on the handset.
Some folks suggested Slingo, but I hate trying yet another app.
I've tried suggestions of repairing headset I even tied a full wipe.
I'm on MeanBean 1.1 but I doubt that has anything to do with it.
One way to fix it is, I believe, there must be a way to take Bluetooth Voice Dial out of Google Searches "capabilities" manifest. So that Cyberon is the only app for Bluetooth.

It was actually Vlingo not Slingo that someone suggested.
It appears Dragon Speech Folks acquired them or something.
Any way Dragon Mobile Assistant (Beta) and is free
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nuance.balerion&hl=en
It so far is working excellent !!

Never mind Dragon is "Broken" over Bluetooth too.
It doesn't actually switch to the Headset MIC.
It has amazing recognition and still a very nice app.
But if the phone is in my pocket in the Car it's not gonna work which is what I'm trying to fix.
I covered the Mic's to test it over Bluetooth and got Nuttin.
Grrrr.
Back to Cyberon which is the closest to working.

Fixed and works

Yes, are you using it on a Bluetooth Headset?

Quick question what is the issue? I am on MeanBean 1.3 and I have no issues with my bluetooth headset(s) or my car radio.

Read the Google Bug in the OP.
Also read a post I made a few replies up to a work around to get Cyberon to work even better.
Bluetooth VOICE dial over headset cannot find contacts.
Cars do their own voice regonition to their own uploaded contacts.
Once a call is established the Bluetooth headset works fine. Or if a call comes in.
The Handset Voice Dial also works fine.
It's broken on all phones that are on 4.1.X JB. It's said to be fixed in 4.2.X
You can fool yourself into thinking that it works if say you only call your Favorites (because I think it prioritizes those).
It will also work if I Clear Caches for a few minutes. It's like it builds a bogus regonition cache for the headset.
If you only have a dozen contacts it might work.
I have 400 Contacts. It can find my wife every time, but not a single other contact works.
ICS Google Search worked fine.
There are almost 200 replies to the bug on Google all kinds of devices.
It was also broken on ICS ROMs that added Google Now from JB 4.1.

Voice dialing through bluetooth...?

Hi, i'm Jay i recieved my HTC Touch Pro 2 the other day and i've paired my Sony Ericsson bluetooth headset but i cannot get it to voice dial.
I've installed Vito Voice Dialer, set up the voice command but still no luck with the voice dialing.. Is there a particular headset i need to be able to voice dial or do i need a different programme?
I need the voice dial to work through the headset..
Thanks in advance
No Voice Dialing
It is not possible at this time, because TP2 has another blue tooth stack (see also different threads here).

just a matter of time though mate..... prob happen soon <fingers crossed>

Voice dialing works great on the TMo version. Not as quick as before with my previous MDA. I say dial "XXX mobile" and it responds "dial XXX mobile" and I say yes and it calls. Also works for app launches etc.

Parrot ck3100 does, but I think it has the voice control software itselft...
I used to use aged SonyErricson T630 + HBH835, I had voice dialing with. But TP2 should be some kind of "PRO" ... well do you think it is impossible to activate this feature at all???
This is great news it is possible actually, but can you tell what kind of Bluetooth stack you have in your TP2? If I go to info dialog it says vesion 1.9.0 Build 4400, HCIv4.72/LMPv4.33031(15). What do you have in it?
thanks a lot.

It works. But PTT function of bluetooth handsfree does not anyways.
thank you very much hecksk. it's the only software having italian TTS to read sms (useful when driving or - as it often happens to me - your hand are busy holding the work bag, jacket and so on). bluetooth ptt means that I can't use by headset to give commands, right? awful then... I hope that someone will come out with a solution soon... strange that such an important feature is missing on a businness device like this..
HTC support said, that they have no idea why bla-bla-bla, please contact handsfree manufacture (SonyErricson) and voice dialer (VITO).
It's funny answer seems like standard reply form. Sad.
Hope there is some solution for this issue...
So if I palnning to get a " Blueant Q1 " Bluetooth headset will it work with T-mo. TP2?

please describe how did you make it?
because mine TP2 does not work with SonyErricson HBH-IV835 handsfree, I used use it with SonyErricson phone and also checked with Nokia's...worked fine.

Update... HTC tech informed yes MSVC is working correctly as tested on the TP2 units they use ... the 'Dopod' reference on post above referred to the brand of Headset not the dopod pda....
So voice activation via BT headset on MSVC works on some units not on others (depends on your rom) ... his advice... activate MSVC via the TP2 until a rom update... he said check weekly to see if one happens (so must be in pipeline) He also said Microsoft was working on MSVC as it does not play 100% with new Bluetooth Stacks so expect a new version (from v1.6) some time in future ... seems unless an industrious person finds a cab fix ... the only other option now, is find a rom that works and use that (which can bring other issues)

[Q] Voice command over bluetooth not working

I'm a big fan of the voice command features, speech>SMS, email, search, etc...
Constantly pushing the "mic" button on my keypad and talking into the phone mic just isn't user friendly enough while driving.
I can't get anything other than voice dialing to work with a bluetooth headset.
My BT set is a cheapie, I'll gladly buy a new one providing this is the issue.
I don't care about it reading email or txt's back to me, I have to be able to say "txt/email so&so, blah blah blah" and have it do that via BT.
Anyone?
Thanks,
i dont think u can do all the voice commands on BT cuz i just got a pair of sony dr-bt101 and same thing
I agree with rptw I dont think its possible. I connect my phone to my car stereo via bluetooth and cannot use the voice commands it would be awesome if I could thou so hopefully someone has a solution.
Voice commands over bluetooth work with Vlingo.
Vlingo is the greatest app (imho) for the streak! I use it for everything!
It's available on the market
+1 Vlingo, works perfect
Been using VLINGO, it's awesome. Works fine on 1.8.1 too.
Vlingo has 1 fatal flaw
After using Vlingo once, if you move out of range of your phone, then Vlingo
will cause your phone to reboot.
See link below of this problem:
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=9503
Vlingo is great, works fantastic, thanks for the tip.
However I've noticed that my headset doesn't stay active long enough to complete my task. EI: push the BT button, say "txt so&so", wait for Vlingo to respond -headset stops listening-
Push the button again, say content of the message, wait for "thinking" -headset stops listening-
Push the button again, say send...
Is this consistent with any other Vlingo users headsets?
Thanks.
Blueant Q1 or Q2 works well with streak on voice commands

I tried with GrooveIP but no luck.
No luck with Csipsimple or Sipdroid. I figured one of these would be the first to get mic/headphone support.
I have tried Skype but when the person who im calling answersthe call it force closes, havent tried any other app.

the only thing the mic can be used for right now is the built in nook functions and voice search. i don't think we will be able to use the mic for anything else until we can get a custom rom on it

I agree with you, though i will give obion a try too, i already have an android smartphone for voip calls but it would be awesome if we could have it in the nook, in fact is one of the reasons i bought the NT and not the NC. It is definitely a must have feature, at list for me .

No, it's surely can be used in any app. Because it's working in Hi-Q MP3 Rec (Lite), for instance. BTW, the sound quality is very good.

I can confirm that as well, I downloaded "Voice Recorder" from the market to record notes, and it works. What gives? if some random app can get access to the microphone, why can't the VoIP apps do it?
I'm trying to figure out how to make a call somehow as well.
Has there been anything new on this front yet - just bought and rooted a NT and would love to make calls with it
I used skype on mine and it worked well.
The closest I have gotten is with Skype or grooveip.
Skype FCs when the party being called answers. Each version I've tried has acted a little differently so I am still hopeful that an update will work some day. With the proliferation of tablets I know they are working on it though not necessarily for the NT.
Everything about grooveip seems to work but the microphone doesn't seem to be recognized and the speaker does not work. The speaker plays the ringing sound while trying to connect (and the volume is adjustable) but upon answer it does not play and the volume function is Xed out just as it would be when you are muted at the lowest setting. Volume buttons do not respond. Other than that there is definitely a telephony link between the NT and the phone being called. This is version 1.1.8 I'm trying.

Would you mind sharing? I am quite interested in getting Skype to work. No success as yet.
Here's a basic (possibly stupid) question. Is the NT headset jack a mic/earphone jack or just a headset jack? I couldn't tell from any of the teardowns.
im not sure but it could be a lib/s missing or existing one that need to be modified, ill try to look into it ask some devs i know and report back
I downloaded textplus and it is SO ClOSE to working! I can use it to sms and I can receive calls and make calls. The person on the other end can hear me BUT I cent hear them!
Also there is twin thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1363215&page=10
and one interesting comment
I also have success with iPhone mic + talk-a-play. I note /etc/astound.conf shows both mic channels ON. Could this be part of the problem? Linux Alsa doesn't work with Skype unless you turn one channel off because the 2 channels cancel each other out. Someone who really knows Alsa needs to have a good look at this file. I don't really understand it, but it definitely gives a description for a mic.

I'm playing with asound.conf now, and it seems to be the right place to look. I managed to break HI-Q recorder from working, make 'fring test call' be heard (not me), and even make device stuck from full boot (removing asound.conf from adb shell saved me) =)

Bluetooth Voice Dialing on SG2?

Hi all,
i picked up a skyrocket about 2 weeks ago (coming from iphone 3gs) and was really disappointed to find out that the skyrocket does not support bluetooth initiated voice dialing.
what i mean is that i have a plantronics voyager pro (awesome headset) where i long press the button on the headset and it then beeps to prompt me to say "call so-and-so" this way while driving i don't have to look down at the phone at all.
this does not work with the skyrocket. i chatted with samsung tech support and they confirmed this is not a feature they included on a 250 dollar flagship phone and have no plans in the future to include it.
does the sgs2 allow for headset initiated voice dialing? specifically with the voyager pro or more generally any headset that you have tried? thanks!
I have a Galaxy S2 and I use a Motorola Finity bluetooth headset and voice dial works fine.

You might get more play on this in the Skyrocket forums rather than the i777 forums. The i777 has a samsung version of vlingo installed from the factory that works quite well for headset button initiated voice dialling (talks back to over the headset). I'm surprised that skyrocket doesn't have this, but there are a couple other options.
First is Google voice actions - should be available in the market I believe
second (probably better) is vlingo in the market - free app does what you want...

I use the Jabra Cruzer2 handsfree speaker phone and it works well - I did jettison the Vlingo app as I found it annoying to use and always kept my screen on (older market version, may have fixed in recent updates). I use ChoiceDialer as all I need it is for voice calling - I have no need for the other features that vlingo brings to the table.

I have no problems initiating a voicedial from my bluetooth headset, so long as the phone isn't in standby (black screen). That makes it pretty useless though, because if I'm driving with my phone in my pocket, I can't pull it out and enter my password to make the voice dialing work.
Does your voice dial work, even when the phone is in standby with a black screen?
There was another thread on this issue. I have the same problem. If the screen is locked with say the pattern lock the bluetooth headset will not initiate by pressing the button on the bluetooth headset.
Hmmm, am I doing anything wrong or what?
Anytime I tap Voice Command or Voice Talk then give it a command, it shows Processing with a cycling circle then hung.
It happens with or w/o bluetooth.
If it's hanging, then that doesn't sound like something you've done wrong. It should never hang.

GrooVe IP

Hi, I am trying to get this to work for the Nook Tablet, anyone have any suggestions?
The app works but it doesn't use the mic, so when I call people they cannot hear me.
Description about the app: "GrooVe IP - app supports making and receiving calls using Wi-Fi and/or 3G/4G data connections. It works via Google Voice." Quote by Explore3.
Thanks so much!

Suggest messaging the app develop to support nook tablet.
I couldn't find any similar app that works...
I don't know which ones I tried offhand... 5-10... none of them worked. Most often the mic didn't work
I tried another app that did use the mic (some voice changer) and it worked with the mic. Just FYI.
I also tried a couple google voice vop apps including gvoice and grooveip with the the same results--no outgoing voice via mic. It seems the mic is not captured by the app, maybe its protected by the proprietary kernel idk. It works with voice recorder and i can blow out the flame on candle, but thats about it. Voice via mic also registers on a db meter app. I guess voip is "locked out" right??
Update after installing CM7 via CW backup. Grooveip is the same--no outgoing voice, but speaker works fine for incoming voice. However, it's the opposite for the other phone apps. On the native phone app provided with CM7 and on gVoice the mic works great, but alas no incoming sound via headphones nor speakers. Also, voice search and voice dial work pretty good, although there is room for improvement on the voice recognition for the dialer.
ps Good job on the CM7 port--its amazing--many thanks!
Has the fix for the mic problem been found yet? And if so what is it??
Google voice search works with the mic now w CM7~! So does gVoice (and also native CM7 phone app), but arrrrg without speakers. I have no idea why the mic won't work with grooveIP, and instead the speakers work. weird how the results are opposite for these voip apps. its soooo close to working I can taste it...
Is there anyone else trying to get this to work? GrooveIP works except for the mic. when I try it. I think it has to do with the mic Device settings.
if gVoice works with mic (but no speaker audio), and in contrast GrooveIP doesn't work with mic (but has speaker audio), its only a matter of getting either app developer to take a look at their app with CM7. just a matter of time.
FYI...I'm running the latest CM9 nightly(20120527) and grooveip seems to be working with both a wired headset and also just using the built in MIC...
Same experience here.
I have a Nook Tablet 16GB custom rom - using Liquid Smooth v2.4 official.
Groove-IP wont even sign in.
even tho on a stock unactivated SGS3 on the same network works like a charm.
After a few minutes it reports no valid network available....
You have to set it up on your PC first.
Won't let me use my mobile number, so I guess I won't be using it on my Nook16, running Android 4.3.
I've had no problems with mic or speakers using GrooVeIP. I've been using Android 4.1.2 20121208 succulent acclaim rom 10.1 running from bootable SD card.
