[Q] MHL not work on Samsung Galaxy S2 CM10.1 - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, I have a little problem with the phone samsung galaxy s2 cm10.1
Display does not work with mhl on the TV screen, in desperate need of it because he wants to show videos from phone to a projector by cable hdmi.
Whether it is possible to mhl work?

Yes it's possible.Use stock rom.And next time ask in q&a thread.

Mate MHL wont work on CM9/10/10.1 or on AOKP or AOSP . It will work only on stock rom

I thought videos would play over mhl on any ROM they would for me on cm10, its just complete mirroring that don't work. If you try to play the videos it'll work also youtube vids will work as well

[Q] Micro-USB to HDMI?

This is a question, that is very important for me.
...
You see, this SGSII phone thing'y is HOT as HELL. It is everything I want in a phone... BUT STOP...
...
NO HDMI out?
...
The original SGS has one and I really don't understand why they took that away from the SGSII.
...
I heard that there is a way to get HDMI mirroring with a software and a micro-USB to HDMI cable! Is that purely a software question or must there be a hardware thing to?
...
Please... respond to this, this is very important.
An MHL hardware connection is needed (look up MHL in wikipedia), fortunately in the official Samsung specs from the press release it says that it has MHL. A video from MWC from someone representing the MHL consortium also says the SGS2 will be the first device supporting MHL.
I'll feel better once I see someone demo it, but Samsung have officially announced MHL capability for the SGS2.

You think Mobile High-definition Link??
Yes... I want to see a demo to. It would be nice to have this mirroring capability.
Something does confuse me about MHL, if you have a TV which isn't MHL compatible and you don't want or don't have the adapter, can you use a microUSB-to-HDMI cable and just not have it charge at the same time?
doh...

First of all... DO YOU REALLY NEED a HDTV that supports MHL??? No Games on the big screen? DAMN!!!

Thanks, but I've seen that video and it doesn't say if you can or can't use it without the adapter

It says you can use it without the adapter, but your device won't be charged.

My friend you can use with any HDTV but you dont have charge of your battery device except if you buy an adapter MHL to charge and transmit signal on the same time. But how last your battery can provide of energy?
In my Xperience In my IPad I see 3 Movies via Wireless Apple TV and my battery show 30 % remain. In the case of SGSII at least You have enough power to see a movie with Screen turned Off (SGSII)
!?
Are there any news about a mirroring capability on the SGS II?
...
I've been searching the net for some confirmation, that there is going to be a possibility playing games on the SGS II connected to a flat screen TV, but couldn't find anything to confirm that!
...
Are there any news???
surely if this was possible, it would have been all over the exhibitions and videos of it would exist?

Or the SW used for demo phones didn't have the mirroring properly implemented yet and the option was not included in menus.
EDIT:
I have not seen any demos where SGS2 is connected to a TV via MHL/HDMI.
Is there any previews or videos where they use that ?
No videos yet, the question of whether mirroring is on offer remans in the air.
!
Funny... cuz... The first SGS had mirroring, if this one has it not, than it is a kind a regress!
...
Sorry 4 my English.
Yep, I'd be very disappointed if this can't do mirroring, I love using it with my SGSI and would find it hard to part with (use my SGSI on the tele with BT keyboard and mouse, excellent experience, only problem is only SD-out).

[Q] How can we have 'TV out' feature on Galaxy ACE??

I disparately want TV out features on my Samsung Galaxy ACE.
Has anyone tried getting TV out from Samsung Galaxy Ace??
I have come across many ways of doing this like :-
3.5 mm to RCA (nokia cable) or
Mini Usb(newer version ) to male Hdmi
there is no option of TV out in its original firmware but i am pretty much sure "Qualcom 7227 Chipset" does support TV OUT, But for some reason the samsung has not written the Code/driver etc for this purpose,,
As far as i know Only a pro developer will be able to pull this off, who will be able to create a custom ROM which would have the TV out feature like Galaxy S.
Till then i will have wait and watch,
hey i want to have the same thing, and i was so sure that i have seen a rom with this feature. but i can't find it anywhere -.- i used google and i tried the forum search.. finally i'm angry

this requieres hardware support for the TV out. And i don't think samsung added that to the ace cause this feature is not used. Just that the chipset supports it is not enough.
Galaxy ACE supports DLNA. If your TV is a DLNA certified, you can use this technology to have TV output wirelessly.
i know it has dlna .. but i want TV out somehow... if some app could it!!
or am just dreaming .... i better buy a new phone.
Well I guess it wouldn't exactly be TV Out (RGBA/Component) but you could probably hook up your phone to a laptop in Debug Mode and use ADB to show its screen on your laptop. Then you could hook your laptop up to a television. Complicated, but gets the job done.
There was a thread like this one already, some1 posted a vid that the Ace could successfully TV out. The dev said that it could harm the processor or something, so he stopped developing.
watch this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8c7PG7AL4Jw
The original Galaxy S has this feature any developer knowledgeable in this area and able to port it from the Galaxy S... new kernel maybe?
it will cause gpu burning of aceeee
I agree with cpu burning. The same like what do not runs Screen cast app on ace... because the hardware is not to strong for this...

Problem with HDMI (video is lagging)

I have recently bought the following items:
1xSamsung MHL adapter
1xHama standard HDMI Cable
in the hope of connecting my Galaxy S2 to my LG HDTV to watch movies but I have encountered some problems.
First the video output on the TV is lagging.Dvdrips and 480p res. plays fine but anything over starts to lag.At 1080p it lags the most( it is watchable but it's very annoying).Everything runs perfectly smooth on the phone, they just lag on the TV.
Another problem is with the phone, sometimes it freezes after I disconnect it from the TV and I have to restart it to work again.
Also if I move the phone too much the TV looses the signal, altough all I have to do is move it again until it gets it back.
My question to xda is what could be causing all of this?
Is it the HDMI cable(poor quality?) or could it be the TV?It is rather old(about 3 years).
Or could it be the HDMI adapter(doesn't connect properly?).
And what about the phone? It is currently running the stock gingerbread 2.3.4 (unrooted) that came with the phone. Will installing a different ROM solve the problem? What are the best ones for this type of thing?
bump
Every so often I have most of those issues but haven't had any lag. I'm running checkrom. I also alternate between siyah and cf root kernels and TV out runs better with the cf root kernel. So, maybe try a different rom and see if that helps.
I have a generic adapter but from what I've read both stock and generic have the same issues.
Also there is a thread somewhere here dedicated to the HDMI adapter. Google and you should find it.

Thanks for the feedback.I am thinking of installing the latest ICS.To anyone that has it installed, how does it perform when it comes to playing videos and such through HDMI?Any improvements?
Edit:Any good experiences with other ROMS's relating to HDMI output? Please post them.
bump
Will not work at all on my rooted XWLP3 but it worked perfectly on Gingerbread ROM
Thanks for sharing.Looks like I'll have to look for another ROM.

Same lag here. Using Omega v10 ICS 4.0.3.
THinking about to change to another one.
I have some 1080p movies on it and want to see it on TV

How to connect your projector to galaxy s2?

Hi guys..i know this question might be little strange but i would like to know that, is there any posibility to connect your phone to the projector ??.

Just go to ebay/amazon or any online store and search MHL to VGA cable that should work since the galaxy s2 has a mhl port and projectors have a vga port

[Q:] CM9 Nightlies no go w/ S3 (I9300) HDTV Adapter (EPL-3FHU...)?

Hi guys, could need some help, please:
I just can't get a picture from my S3 (neither YouTube, Homescreen, nor movie from SD Card) to show on my LG HDTV's screen... Any idea, why?
Just in case you're wondering...
-- I do have the latest/correct Adapter for the S3 (Model code: EPL-3FHUBEGSTD/Original Samsung bought on Amazon)
-- I have connected the S3 charger to the Adapter
-- One side plugged into HDTV, the other into the Adapter, and the latter plugged into S3.
I think that the CM9 Nightlies (RC2) just might not be up to par... (??)
Can anyone confirm it's actually working with your International S3 (I9300) and XpLoDWiLD's version of CM9 ??
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
I can confirm this on the Cm10 nightlies.
The mhl adapter works fine on Samsung-derived Roms, just not the CM ones.
I wonder if a different kernel would help? I plan to try a few later...

i have this exact same adapter and can confirm it working perfectly fine on samsung roms. I have posted a similar thread on getting it to work with USB OTG here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1836822
I believe there must be something in the kernel to enable HDMI output (seeing as i get a "HDMI cable connected" notification) as well as switching into USB Host mode (and thus providing the adapter with power). It has been suggested that among the 11 Pins in the new Galaxy S3 port there should be 2 separate USB Ports, one to be used for charging, syncing, data cable, MHL, etc, and one to use for USB OTG while the other is in MHL mode.
I am hoping for new insight into this matter, since this would empower the device greatly. Together with the superior hardware, this would definitely be a killer feature.
+1
