[Q] Clockwork Recovery 5.0.2.3 won't respond? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

Hey guys,
So helping a friend root and I have installed CWM Recovery 5.0.2.3 on there. The issue is that when I press the power-button to select any of the choices it just shows the "Hat and Circle" and is unresponsive for all options, including power off/reboot. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you very much and Happy New Year to all of you!

Have you tried the home button like the stickies told you to?

No. As stated time and time again in various threads, there was a time when the cwm kernel required the use of the home button and not the power button.
It's covered in the stickies even

He's running the CWM version where if you hit power it just shows the splash screen for whatever reason. I remember that version and it really screwed with me. Hitting home button in that version is the selector. You guys are very quick to assume

What's so good about it?
Touchscreen recovery! Gonna save some hardware buttons at the least.

its more than its just touchscreen.. you can craft entire themes around it now you can literally make it look like how you want. plus you can have zips that display all sorts of cool **** when they install
but IMO the biggest thing is there is a live console output on every screen.. so should something not work while flashing etc then you can see more then just "status 7 ERROR!!!!"

Easy, get a camera, take a photo, upload it to your computer and then post it here.

Man this is sooooo cool. Way better than wearing out the volume button!
So this replaces CWM or augments it?

Hey!
What is cfw?
If you mean Clockworkmod - yeah, you're pretty much screwed without volume buttons.
I'd say you have to get it to service.

If he is saying cwm, he isn't really screwed because on HTC wildfire trackball is mainly used in cwm.

So pls tell me
CFW means Custom Firmware. It's usually used for devices like PSP. He's carried it over from there.
Note to OP - Here the custom operating systems are referred to as ROMs. And if your volume buttons aren't even working in recovery, then that means they're screwed and you have to take it for servicing. Try using the trackball in recovery as mentioned in the post above.

With the responsiveness of the CWM touch, I would really rather stick to the volume keys, its much simpler that way, although if a phone comes out without volume keys, or capacitive hardware buttons, I guess this would be the only solution.

When it comes to my recovery I want less fluff.
I'll stick with volume/power buttons for as long as I can.
Does look interesting but idk if "fancy" is better for recovery purposes.

I don't think I would like CWM with a touch screen as well as I like using the volume keys.
I love the idea, but I would rather see it implemented in the way that the Galaxy Nexus has it. Hopefully we get it on our version of CM9, whenever it hits.

When I first got my Android phone, I thought how ghetto it was that you had to use the volume keys. My recovery for my Kindle Fire is touch, love it way better!

(Q) Native Screenshot

So I searched the forum and haven't, yet, run across any topics revealing my question, so here it is. With all this modding going on, is there any way or possibility to be able to make the thunderbolt have a native screenshot with hardware keys? Such as, pressing "search" and "power" at the same time and holding to take a screenshot?
Sent From Under A Ghillie Suit
Most newer ROMs have it. Press and hold Power, then press Home.
Can it be incorporated to a stock rooted Rom?

Galaxy S2-i777 Tap the android stuck

Hey guys, I'm quite new here and trying to find the solution to problems my phone is having.
I got it softbricked and it stopped after using the odin3 one-stop downloader non-root and root.
I used the root one and its not bricked anyone. But I face another problem.
When I get to the "Touch the android to begin" I start having problems like
"The application Google Services Framework has stopped unexpectedly"
I need to get my phone fixed D: I'm dying!

Ok so far, I found solutions saying reboot to recovery and reset to factory.
But I have no luck whatsoever into trying to get my phone into recovery.
I've tried adb (adb won't detect my device even though I have installed the correct
usb driver for it). Kies won't work (I've uninstall and reinstall). I also tried to
flashing a kernel (siyah) but sadly it either stops at zImage or setupconnection part.
I will try to continue and find more solution.
