note keyboard - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

is there any way to download the note 2 keyboard and put it on my note 717? Or on a custom rom?

It's definitely possible, though I'm not savvy enough to walk you through it. You'll need to pull the keyboard out of the note 2 and side load it.

S3 or note2?

Contract coming up soon. Do I wait for note2 or go for s3?

I think that if you have patience and you prefer a larger screen, wait for that Note II is going to be the world's best instrument.
Wait for note 2 if you can?

Wait for the note 3
The Note 2 wille be introduced begin August, available september/october 2012.
IMO the note is just too huge. Plus I will be honest.. I live in NYC and ride the subways with tons and tons of people everyday.. I notice things about them, what phone they have or what tablet or gadget they are using. And honestly... I mostly see women with the note A LOT more than men. I'm trying to think if I have even seen a guy with a note... yes I have like 3 or 4 times since it was released.. but have seen countless women with them. I have a theory about this too.. I think it's because guys really dont want to carry it in their pocket, and it fits perfectly in a purse. lol

Ima Dude, and i will be getting the Note 2........the note fit in my pocket just fine.
i do agree with the purse statement, its the reason i sold my mom on the LTE Note.
I dont know for you actually, but note is way too big for me....
Note 2 will be slimmer and smaller in size than note 1, though with a slightly larger screen.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Guess I will try out the original note in store and see if I think its too big.
Out of interest. Those that are saying go for the note. Is that down to any issues you have with s3? Or just that note2 will have a a better spec?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
Bump... What are people's issues with S3? Anything to put me off getting it? Or is it awesome. Would particulary like to hear from people who came from s2 on improvements?
I like the led notification, but what about the speaker, is sound muffled like in s2 when placed flat down?

Help me decide. Galaxy Note or Galaxy S3?

Getting a new AT&T phone on Tuesday and can't seem to pick between the Galaxy Note or the Galaxy S3. I know the specs for each and will be replacing the stock firmware with AOSP, so I'm pretty indifferent about stock software features. Tell me about your experiences with these phones and what you would recommend.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
Have you played with both phones in the store. All things considered i would get the not because you can't do anything on an S3 that can't be done from your note, but there are a lot of things the not can do that the S3 can't
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using Tapatalk 2
I've played with a bunch of GS3s, never got to play with a GNote. I've always loved the look and specs of them, though. I hear the GNote 2 is going to be announced soon, so I might just hold out for that.

I'm actually getting the gs3 in addition to the note I already have! My wife will take one and I will take one. Havent decided which but with Google sync I think we will switch back and forth because they're both great devices. I don't use the touchwiz spen apps at all Cuz I'm on aokp and will be on the gs3 so aside from the slight screen difference I really dunno what the diff would be

:silly: funny that every time a new size comes out we like its perfect. I can remember when 4 inches was the hotspot and 4.5 was too big, then 4.5 was perfect and 4 was too small. now 5.3 vs 5.5 lol. One thing everyone can agree on tho is iphone 3.whatever is way too SMALL.
I don't know how people get around playing with that tiny iphone, it's like tryng to eat a meal with a kid's toy tea set.
OP go with the note and we'll help you root it, overclock it, and flash a smooth as silk rom... You'll be saying SG... what?

you can't really say it's a step backwards when the s4 specs crushes the note 2. the only thing you give up is the pen and 5.5 screen

How does it crush or phone exactly? Cause is clocked higher? We could overclock ours... its useless though and we still get superior battery life

Well, I definitely wouldn't call the s4 an upgrade over the note II. For those coming from phones prior to the note II I'd call it an upgrade. On paper the s4 is the better phone, but in the real world, most people won't even notice any difference. The screen size, s pen and battery life is really what will ultimately separate the note II and s4. For those who want a phone that's not so big, then the s4 would be the obvious choice. Aside from that I don't see why anybody would trade in their note II for a s4 if they can deal with the size of the note II because the s4 doesn't offer any real world usage advantages over the note II. The s4 has a few new gimmicks, but most people probably won't use most of those features just like they don't use them on the note II.

It's not just overclocked. The guts (Processor/GPU) are all upgraded and newer models. Also, the screen is about the best out in the biz, next to the One.
You lose a bit of battery, screen size and a pen that 87% of us haven't used since the first week we got the phone. Add on to that a phone instead of a slab.
Don't get me wrong (I love my N2 and will probably stay) but the S4 is no joke. It's not just a minor upgrade. It's a spec monster that would eat this phone alive in some benchmarks. Believe that.

I dont bench race phones so bench marks mean very little. Second imo the s4 is a step backwards for battery life and screen size. Both devices are more capable of handling androids latest firmware for years to come...everything extra the s4 has is mostly marketing bull**** that the enduser will never notice a difference. The s4 supposedly has a better screen and camera...well how much better is completely subjective because the n2 is damn good.

The bootloader has been confirmed to be unlocked already, has been since the release of the ATT verison. Dan is just waiting on Verizon S4 to drop before releasing booooooooommmmmm!!!!! Here we go!!!!!
Well the screen on the s4 is smaller, and has higher resolution but that takes more processing power... . Now Idk what I'm talking about but will it really seem that much faster?
I experience no lags on my note 2 anyway
But hey don't listen to me I'm a note 2 obsessed geek.

is the screen to big??

hello guys.. i dont kno what to do.. i never had a phablet before.. i always have to have the next new toy out.. and i loved my s4 when i had it.. rite now i have the htc one.. i had the s4 before the one.. i thought that the screen on the s4 was perfect.. 5in.. my one is 4.7.. i think 5 is perfect.. has anyone that had a smaller phone that got the note 3 tell me is it that bad?? if i get the note 3 will i get used to the huge screen?
The only issue I have with the Note 3 is carrying it around at work in my pocket...A small brick. I love the screen size otherwise.

I came to the note 3 from an htc one and I haven't had any regrets. The bezel is so thin that the transition wasn't a problem at all.

This phone is a beast. Well worth adjusting to the size. Bluetooth/headset with a mic and answer button helps if you feel weird holding a tablet to your head.

I have a HTC One as my business phone and a Note 3 as my Personal... I know that is kinda backwards. I have both with me most the time. There is no problem, for me at least, going between the two. Unless you have VERY small hands or wear "skinny" jeans there will not be a problem.
Oh, also if you hate having people looking at you and saying "WOW! That is a big phone..." or "What is that?" or "Is that the note?" You might want to reconsider. Wait till they see the mega LOL!!!

screen issue
It is the size with capable of 1920*1200. Therefore, it is so big for good entertainment.

Is it worth it?

I have been using an s3 for 6 months now and I found someone on Craigslist that will trade me my S3 for his Note 2. I will be throwing him an extra 50 bucks. Is it worth the trade or no? Thank you for any help.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2
i would trade in a heart beat, once you get use to the size you will never go back to a smaller screen.
If it were me, I'd check to make sure the boot loader was unlocked, then I'd say its worth it. That's my personal preference.
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk
You can unlock the bootloader yourself.
I just came to the note2 from an s3 and love it. I don't know if I'd give an extra 50 $ though. Negotiate that down to 25 if you really want it. It was a worthy upgrade as far as I'm concerned.

It's very easy to unlock.. as long as you can read and follow instructions carefully. The most important thing I'd say would be to make sure the phone is 100% functional.

While the specs are very close, the additional gigabyte of RAM makes this phone amazingly smooth (even on the stock ROM). Assuming you like the super-sized screen, I'd say you'll be very pleased with the Note II as an upgrade from the S III.

The s3 has 2gb of ram as well. The CPU on the note 2 is the difference. It has a quad core as opposed to the s3's dual core.

Apparently there were some variations depending on carrier/nation. It could have a quad core or a dual core, 1 gigabyte or 2 gigabytes of RAM.
In any case, I find the Note II to be very worthwhile. I recommend taking the plunge if you're looking for a large screened, well-built phone.
