Titanium backup won't transfer data to gs3 - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I don't know if I'm missing something but I have titanium pro linked with my Dropbox and when I back up an app that I've played and sync with Dropbox, I then go to my phone, copy and paste the titanium folder from DB into gs3 then point the titanium on gs3 to that folder and still it will show no backups under that app. I cannot find a solution anywhere. Anyone? Thanks

Power Amp

I use Power Amp as my music player, I wanted to know if there is a way to backup my playlist so that I don't have to redo them everytime I flash a ROM. I backed up the app with titanium backup pro but that doesn't restore my playlist when I restore the app.
Any help how I could?

Anybody?

Well, they probably get stored somewhere where Titanium backup doesn't check. Check the PowerAmp website for where it stores your playlists, and then go in there and copy them out to your SD card manually.

Tapatalk free on getjar

That's it. Just figured you all would like the heads up

that's cool, but I wish there was only one store. I bought beautiful widgets on my old email, used getjar for the free, then just bought it again on sale. I didn't want to ask for a refund. I am now hoping to get my free amazin apps on play so I can stop installing 2 markets. I would love google to let me buy swiftkey x but it keeps saying install declined and no one will help. I may look for a torrent because that is pathetic service. like my money isn't good enough or something.
You need to reinstall from the original location, then wipe data & destroy market link in Titanium Backup. Then clear the market...erm google play... cache & data, and you should be good to go!
thanks. ill try that later. have a sunflower. or a daisy. I'm not sure. I just picked it on the way in.

^^^^free!
Thanks for the heads up
Is there a way to remove market links without ti backup pro?

From another thread:
I made sure I had a backup of the app, then uninstalled it. I then browsed to the Titanium Backup backup folder on the internal SD card, and found the *.properties file of the app in question. Long press on it and opened it in Text Editor. I then deleted out every line that started with 'market.' I then saved it, and Ti Backup automatically creates a backup of the original file. Then I restored the app. But to get this process to work, I also had to clear the Market app data (as per your tip).

[Q] App Saved Data

I have a touchpad with Honeycomb on it currently. I am trying to figure out where an apps saved data is stored. Is there a specific spot?
Thanks
It depends on the app. Some store in /data, others on the sdcard, others in the cloud. You probably want to look into something like Titanium Backup to backup and restore your apps and data.

Is there a way to edit the backup data file?

Whatsapp

Has anyone managed to install Whatsapp on their tf300?
Try backing it up on your phone with Titanium Backup, copy the backup file to your tablet and restore it there.
Did just that. It wont come out properly. The app just wont show up.
Ok, how about this - get the apk of WhatsApp from your phone and put it on your tablet and install it. Then go to Titanium Backup and just restore data from the backup you made on your phone.
This is what I've done (just remembered this now, thought you just had to copy the backup and restore it) when I was experimenting with Android on my netbook a couple of months ago and it worked
The app actually checks if it's a tablet trying to run it. Prolly need to dig out the manifest and change it since that has nothing to do with user data and can not be altered via titanium or any other backup tool.
Works for me! (see the attachment)
Here's what I did:
- copied WhatsApp's apk from my phone to the tablet
- made a backup of WhatsApp in Titanium Backup on my phone
- installed WA from the apk I just copied on the tablet
- copied the 3 files Titanium Backup made for WA's backup from the phone to the tablet (obviously you need to put those files to /sdcard/TitaniumBackup)
- ran TB on my tablet, only restored data for WA
- ran WA and it worked

can you do this with a non rooted phone?
Does the phone used have to be the one you want to send the whatsapp messages from?
how do i copy the apk?
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T using XDA
No, you need root on your phone as Titanium Backup won't work otherwise. The apk is in /data/app, but you'd also need root to access that folder.
You'd need a backup made on your phone, since WhatsApp uses your phone number to send/show messages. If someone else would send you their backups, you'd see their messages and would send messages in their name as well, so that isn't a possibility.

Thanks. it's a shame. i Haven't rooted my xperia play. Would it work if i inserted my sim card into the rooted phone?
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T using XDA
Probably. If you do that, check if WhatsApp shows your conversations and you should be good to go.

where can i find the apk? I know you said data/app but how do i even get to that folder?
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T using XDA
You'll need a file browser that can go to the root "folder" (not sure if that's the right expression, hah) your phone, like ES File Explorer or Root Explorer, as the data folder is there.

Got it working thanks a lot Yeah I forgot to install the app first before actually trying to restore data.
@ w3by Thanks!!! Successfully installed!
I think i know the answer to that, but i'm going to ask anyway...:silly:
there's no way of copying my WA files the same way from my iPhone to
my TF300...right?
so just wait for a supported version, should it even be released...?
thanks
That I don't really know because its an Iphone. I never use apple products. But if its an android to android thing then something can be done
it works quite easy but you can only use it on one device otherwise WA bugs you do death with verifying your phonenumber.
if you backup with TB all i needed to do is restore it and it worked - but my gnex was also running it at that time so both devices went bezerk with the verifying your number. i killed it on my gnex and used the sms verify and WA worked like a charm on my tf300 - tho since i use my phone on the road mosty i deleted it again on the tab - but it definetly works - tho ofc updates will have to copied over via TB backup since the playstore wont update it (same with LBE privacy guard - not available for tabs but works the same)
cheers
PS: for iphone:

get the apk for your tab and enter your phone number and get the sms actication us the pin you get by sms and enter it on your tf300 - bear in mind tho that you still face the same probs i mentioned above- WA cant be used by more than one device simultaniously
(it goes without saying that you prolly should install with TB - so you need root)

[Q] best way to back up .apk files?

I have a drop box acct. Can I back up straight to DB or do I need another app to make that happen?
Is there a better way than Drop Box?
Sent from my Rezound using xda app-developers app
Check this out when you got a moment
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1531880
You can then link it to a folder in your dropbox using the PC dropbox client.
As well I think my backup root can do a backup to the cloud if you register a login.

Are you trying to back up a handful of apk's or the whole rom?
If you just one or two apk's and you have root, use a file manager to copy the .apk to your internal storage or sd card then you can upload them in the dropbox app.
If you want the whole rom, check out Orange Backup, you can schedule auto backups and have them uploaded to your dropbox account automatically.
If you just want to back up apps to your ext sd card AppMonster Pro is great. It can automatically back them up when you download them. Then when you want to restore them you can install either from AppMonster or from Market, it asks you. It's really easy on the eyes finding an app you want to install from your back up and you always have all the ones you've downloaded. It's helped me go back to an older version of an app several times.
