[Q] What's Going On with Multi-Window? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

In the commercials and promos it shows apps like Chrome, Gmail, and Youtube working in multiwindow but there's no way to add new apps to the multi window on the Verizon Note II. Is there a way to fix this? Or is a fix coming officially soon?

There are ways if you are rooted. Otherwise, there will probably be an official fix soon.

Probably before the end of the month. AT&T and US Cellular already have the update, maybe even T Mobile as well.
Verizon always sucks at updating their devices.

Anyone know what that WAY is? I can't find anything anywhere.
GF just got the phone and I rooted it. Want to be able to change what apps are in there.

I've tried everything to get KIES to work with my Windows 7 x64, including re-install of Kies multiple times and loading as admin...no joy. Without KIES working, is there no way to access the phone ROM for rooting?

You don't need Kies, only the Samsung drivers. I used the Toolkit to reinstall them because it wasn't working at first.

**warning** back up ur sdcard since it formats it.
use gladenable for sideloading and tethering.
Ok so I fixed the Tethering problem because i just had to reset the adapter in my laptop and all is good now. It worked before so it couldnt have been the driver problem.
gingerbreak isn't working for me. it just sits there for 10 minutes and doesnt do anything.

ooooh! its working normally now. Thank you
I get a message that my account is not set up for wifi hotspot no matter what APN I use. I used to be able to switch APNs, then switch back, and the hotspot would start. After the 4.1.83 update this isn't working.
Is there something I'm missing here?
Can I root 1.8.3 if I never rooted my device before? I am at 1.8.3.
According to Moto downgrading from 1.8.3 is not a good idea.

Yes u can. I have also updated and flashed back to 4.1.57 and updated back to 4.1.83 and rooted using gingerbreak

Yes, with gingerbreak
Once you update to the latest Atrix 4G release, do not downgrade to a previous version or you will lose functionality. A file system change was made to improve data integrity (for the technically inclined, journaling was enabled on a partition). Once updated, the change cannot be undone through flashing.
Is it safe to flash back?

[Q] How to get kies working again after installing custom rom?

Hi,
After installing Alienware rom kies doesn't connect anymore,
i have pushed new kiesair.apk kieswifi.apk and libKiesDataRouter.so
and kies still will not connect to the device.
Im wondering if there are any more files i need, or settings to get kies to work with my current rom? or if i need to set something up?
Thanks,
What do you use kies for? I never use it.

Hi !
Digging some old thread here, i was stuck with the same problem, how to restore a KIES backup to a non samsung ROM.
As far as I know, there are third party tools that can deal with your problem.
For example, you can try mobiletrans (google that), it can save and restore a lot of stuff from mobile to mobile or from a KIES backup, but it isn't brand specific.

vruame7 hyperdrive rom? bootloader?

i have a verizon samsung galaxy s4 vruame7.
i see there is a hyperdrive firmware for this phone that i really like and want to put on it, ive done everything and have the twrp, although all i can find is that the bootloader is locked. I can only get into download mode. i cant get into recovery mode, i was thinking since this firmware was up that i would be able to put it onto my phone.
i have the phone fully rooted, i have the twrp installed. my only problem is that i cant get into recovery mode to install this. in whichcase i dont believe i can install any custom rom whatsoever.
is there a way i can clear all the cache and install this rom through download mode?
if anyone knows how to get around this i would greatly appreciate your help. thank you very much. i looked around the site and couldnt find anything, although the way the hyperdrive rom says its for vruame7 and it says to boot up through loki'd recovery i assume there has to be a way that im missing and am not able to find on my own.
thanks very much for the help and i appreciate it alot.
p.s. if there is no way to get around this, is there some sort of way i can install a kernel with netfilter to allow wifi tethering from my phone or any other option for that?

Once your on the me7 ota you cant install a custom recovery/roms. Theres about a 100 posts on this already. Little bit of reading goes a long way
As for the tethering im not quite sure, I dont have the unlimited plan so I use the built in hotspot for tethering.

well i would, but for verizon it requires me to have a subscription with my service provider which will cost me extra money. the wifi tether for root users wont work because the official rom doesnt have a netfilter, and it gives me errors and wont work so i believe its because i need a different rom or something.

it does the same thing as the wifi tether app i was using that requires root.... it tells me "started with errors" and i tried changing device profile, it doesnt have a samsung galaxy s4 option, has s3 s2 and sl and ive tried those and it doesnt change anything.
see other phones ive modded you do everything from your computer putting the phone into download mode and running it off a command line type of modding from the computer, so im assuming thats how this will be cracked eventually. i was hoping there would be something now that i just wasnt coming across i guess, ive been using this site forever and i gotta say i love these developers helping us out so much.

Need help so lost try to make it as short as possible.
Phone Info:
- Samsung Galaxy S4 Verizon
- Model SCH-I545
- Build JSS15J.I545VRUEMK2
- Android 4.3
Ok, I tried Rooting my Phone and I use the Soft Root that was linked by someone on the forums. Gave me SuperUser Icon and used a app that checks to see if its Rooted and said it was. Now tried using some Root app's like GameCih and it tells me I need Root Admin or Root Privileges, something to that nature, and cant use the app. Iv been trying to remove that Soft Root but cant Figure it out. Used Odin3 and redid that .tar file for my Build. All when good and got everything the same as a fresh phone, but booting up still has the Pad Lock Icon and Custom logo on it and SuperU Icon. So I cant seem to unroot it, Tried to use the I545ALL-IN-ONE-TOOL posted on these forums but cant get it to working.
So what I need so to get this unrooted and back to factory default, and Rooted the right way, with I545ALL-IN-ONE-TOOL??. Please Help

There are a few other methods...but I don't know them...I do know the other methods safety and security was questionable... Hence saferoot was made by trusted devs here...it should work...all the posts I have seen said they got successful root...did you open the supersu app that was installed and allow it to update binaries?... That is a very important step...if you did then make sure if you try this method again you follow each step it tells you...I don't know exactly how the process goes as I'm on4.2.2 and have to use the all in one tool for root...good luck...if it doesn't work hopefully someone who can help will chime in

Nope, I have no idea what these applications do, but a quick search on the forums basically leads to the conclusion that they're not ready for 4.3.
Given the build you're running, you're stuck with SELinux Enforcing since you can't replace the kernel. You'll need to find something else to do whatever you're trying to do.

My device does not receive the Android 9 Update

Merry Christmas all,
I bought my S9+ 18 about months ago from one of those cell phone stores.
Well since I bought the device, I never received an update. If I am not wrong, this device is originally from Luxemburg, I live in Austria and my provider is T-Mobile.
I have been looking all over the internet to find the right update, but i think none of the ones I found were the correct update for the device I own.
In the attachment you find the device information, can you maybe help me to find the right update file. I would much appreciate your help!
OR
Is there way to change my device, as if I bought it directly from T-Mobile, so I receive the future updates automatically, without root access?
Best wishes,
timsah

have you ever had smartswitch work for this type of situation?
these situations almost always benefit the most from Odin, not smartswitch. Odin is very easy to use if the user can read and comprehend fairly simple steps provided they dont overthink it or use the wrong files etc etc.
Odin > smartswitch
even when the phone gets to the state where it says that the software is corrupt and to connect it to Keis, do not connect it to Keis. That screen is also download mode, and if you have that screen, a computer, usb cord and Odin, youre likely going to be able to fix your phone. Ive never once seen anyone use smartswitch to achieve this
