FAQs
Q - Why Did you make this?
A - To make life easier
Q - You are limited on features. Why?
A- You can always make a request!
Q - Will this work on other devices?
A - Only the fastboot commands, HTC Dev unlock (device specific) and the HTC drivers. Toolkit is made for the specific device.
Q - Will you support more devices in the future?
A - If people REALLY want, I can make it happen. I just don't want to make anything that nobody would use.
Q - Awesome! Can I make a donation?
A - Of course! Do not feel obligated though. If you would like to make a donation, you can click the button on my toolkit or under my username.

and yes, I know. wrong forum. I was looking at my One X+ thread and thought I was opening a new one up at the Desire V.

Thanks for the time and effort you put into this

Can't get Token ID as it won't reconise the phone. USB debugging is on and the usb drivers are installed, checked this with SDK Manager. The phone restarts then stops with a red triangle and an ! mark in it.
If I connect the phone and open your program I can reboot the phone from the program OK

You can do this right through the tool. Look at the bottom right txt box to "Perm Root", select it and click run. This will copy SuperUser.zip to the root folder of the sd card.
Once this is done reboot into recovery. Do it manually or using the tool. Once in recovery, select "install zip from sd card", find the SuperUser.zip and flash it. Now you are rooted.

GOOD!

dude
do we have to install a new rom if we want just to root !! ??
thanks for help

Awesome work....really awesome

i had the same problem earlier today but i visited the http://www.htcdev.com/bootloader/
sign up and login if you are a new user. proceed to select "All Other Supported Models" from the drop down list.
proceed as requested on the site to unlock your bootloader.
after the unlocking. flash the recovery.
again after i did this, i found i could not "root" the device which is the primary reason for embarking on this journey.
the toot kit did actually sent the SU zip to the sd card but could not continue from there.
Do this:
from the tool kit, boot to recovery - update from sd - select the SU zip pushed to your sd card by the tool kit and Bingo!
You are done rooting!!!
NB:
PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF IT WORKS OUT FOR YOU AND IF NOT, I WILL BE GLAD TO HELP.

I was looking to add that option, but it would have to be the zergrush for 1.36 ROMs. For 1.43/1.46, you have to go into recovery and manually flash the zip file. I don't think there is a script to automatically do that, but then again, I may be wrong.
V2.1 has been released!

Would you like help fixing the "One Word in Path" Bug? Should be a simple fix. Also, the flash "Your Own Recovery" option points to a bat that doesn't exist in the data folder.

The bug from what I know is due to the batch scripts not liking spaces lol
You need a recovery.iMG in the recovery folder . When the command is executed, it'll see the recovery.img and flash it. I'm positive it is linked. If not, ill take a look in the morning

There's a way to allow spaces in paths in batch files, pm me if you want to work on that. Also, the flash your own thing is looking for \data\FlashStock.bat, and it doesn't exist. But that should be an easy fix.

thanks for this!
There is NO need to belittle or talk down any member or their work here in a public thread. If you have a complaint then you likely should keep it to your self, but if you can't at most PM them.
Since Regaw has already posted his comments and offered his help to the OP I see ZERO need for the three troll posts in here that I deleted...last warning guys....maybe you should take up building your own toolkit/mod instead of talking down/bad about someone elses that they have provided for free...
Its not about who's toolkit/mod is better here, and never will be, so dont make it that. The more development the better.

I would like to add for those that like my toolkit, PLEASE DO NOT POST IT ELSEWHERE WITHOUT MY PERMISSION!
I have seen multiple sites who copy and paste my work to their site! If I do not approve of it, then do not do it! it will discourage me from adding updates since it is being used for their own benefits!
tl;dr.
If you post my work without permission, don't expect updates!
I created an easy to use GUI program for the HTC Amaze and I decided to make one for the HTC Evo 4G LTE. I spent a good over 10+ hours to learn how to script, watch videos on how to do it, working on it during school when I should have been listening lol and all that fun stuff. I am going to fix it and up and add more updates to it. You CAN place requests and I will try to fulfill it!
If this helped you out, Please press the thanks button and if you want, you can always donate!

I do have one. It's called APK Installer/Data Backup.
Well, it worked at the second time! Thank you!
Unfortunately I'm not able to uninstall some "system-apps" like chrome, 7digital etc. Tried it with Root Uninstaller.
Is it not possible to uninstall those apps at the moment?

All released versions can be found here.

[ROOT] Use SuperSU 2.62 or higher from here systemless for 6.0.1 and above.
Known bugs/limitations: - For partition Flashing, it is recommended(mandatory?) to do a reboot-bootloader if you want to flash multiple partitions one after the other. (according to the Google flashing scripts) (Implemented in 1.2.1)
- For return to stock, the tool will be stuck after your phone successfully boots, you need to reboot to fastboot again in order to flash the Radio and finish the full return to stock. (Fixed in 1.2.0)
Changelog:
Check the changelog for each release here.

Tutorials/FAQ:
Q: How do I get in bootloader/fastboot mode?
Turn off the phone and turn it on by using Volume down + Power key.
Q: How do I check for updates in your tool?
Follow the instructions in the screen below.
Q: Where can I find the device driver to install it for windows?
Click here, download the driver and run the setup.
Q: How do I root my stock phone?
- Unlock bootloader.
- Flash recovery.
- Use SuperSU 2.62 systemless or higher from here.
(Usually the latest version upon tool release is included in the Sideload folder of the tool, you can either sideload it or copy it to recovery and flash it manually)
Q: I get an error "Cannot open file" on MAC, what should I do?
Open the terminal, go to your application path and paste this command:
Code:
chmod +x LxMultiTool.app/contents/macos/*
Q: What do I need to do in order to be in Fastboot or in ADB mode.
Fastboot mode will be detected only while being in bootloader.
ADB mode will be detected from Recovery (custom) and actual ROM with USB debugging active.
Refresh button needs to be used in order to check for what mode you are in.
Q: Are there any other software that I need to install in order to run this tool?
On Windows and MAC everything is bundled, so nothing needs to be installed, just run.
On Linux you need to install from your package manager libQt5Core, libQt5Widgets, libQt5Gui, libQt5Network.
If it's not enough, use ldd LxMultiTool in terminal to find out what you're missing from your environment.
Q: I have an yellow/orange/red text screen during boot, what's that?
When you unlock you usually get the Orange screen and it's normal, but if you really want to know what's this about, give a reading to this.
Q: Hey, my device is not detected, why?
On windows, you need to manually install the USB drivers, they are not included and probably they won't be included in this tool.
Also, make sure you click the connection Refresh button after connecting the device to your PC.
Q: What do i need to do in order to install a custom ROM?
1. Unlock Bootloader.
2. Flash a custom recovery of your choice.
3. Flash an insecure kernel (boot).
4. Flash custom ROM with no problems via recovery.
All those things are found and can be done via this tool.
Q: Hi, i just downloaded this tool, how do i use it?
First, extract the folder somewhere.
After that, run LxMultiTool.exe on windows by double clicking it, LxMultiTool on linux and the same on mac.
Q: Do I need android-sdk installed or something else?
No! This tool uses it's own supplied binaries for adb and fastboot, if you have android-sdk installed it will be ignored anyways.
This tool is fully portable and stand-alone.
Q: I get an error while trying to unlock the bootloader -> FAILED(remote: oem unlock is not allowed), what now?
Starting with Android 5.0, you need to enable Bootloader Unlocking from the developer settings, in order to do that, follow these steps:
- Enable Developer options
- Enable USB Debugging
- Look for the ‘OEM Unlock’ Option and toggle it.
Q: How do I use the return to stock feature?
First download the latest package from here, then extract the contents (there is an archive in the archive) untill you get the a folder like angler-mda89d
that contains the images, that folder needs to be copied in the /Data/StockPackages folder in order to be visible.
Easier steps -> Get your device in bootloader -> Start the tool -> Hit refresh -> go to Stock -> hit open folder -> copy the extracted folder with the name angler-xxxxxx in there, hit F5 or Right-click + Refresh -> you should see the folder in there like in the following screenshot. Thanks @ursa08 for the screenie.
Q: How do I enable Developer options?
- Launch the Settings
- Scroll Down and Tap on About Phone(or About Device)
- Locate the Build Number Section
- Tap on the Build Number Option 7 Times
- Go Back to the Main Settings Page
- Scroll Down and Tap on Developer Options
Q: Hi, i just bought a phone what should i do now?
Well, you firstly need to unlock your bootloader...
Q: What is logcat?
Well, you can pretty much use google for that answer, but to put it short, is that thingy that tells you what is happening behind the scenes of your phone.
It is usually used for debugging and entertaiment(?).
When you report an error/bug to somebody, it will be a blessing to provide a logcat (logfile)!
Q: What is a Custom Recovery and why do i need one?
A custom recovery is that thingy that let's you flash .zip files, use your logic and you wil get it why you need one.
Q:There are others guides/tutorials out there, should i check them instead of this?
If you manage to get things done using this one, no, otherwise yes, note that some could be outdated...
Q:What is sideload and how do I use it?
Sideload is a function from adb that let's you flash a zip file while in recovery directly from your PC.
Please note that you need to be in sideload mode on your recovery before doing this.
To enter sideload mode, in TWRP go to Advanced -> ADB Sideload -> Swipe to sideload

This tool has support only for 4 nexus devices, some features might work, some not, it's all down if the commands that are used by the tool are supported by the other device.
For example all fastboot flashing commands use the command:
Code:
fastboot flash <partition> <file_to_flash>
The same goes for the rest of the commads, I will try to investigate more and see if it's worth it to create a Sam Note 3 package for the tool.
The adb features should work though.
That would be awesome as i run only linux. And cant seem to get odin or heindall to work. Tried multiple times. So if there is something you could cook up. Amazing sauce. Its a att note 3. Either way. This will work great for my n6

Nice! Keep up the good work.
Thank you!

[H918 / T-mo] [1.3b3] EasyRecowvery - TWRP and Root Installer

I don't always follow a new device during the troubled early days of root...
...but when I do, I'm utterly scarred by the chaos and confusion.
Since I've watched the current V20 root exploit evolve from "maybe DirtyCow would work here" into a full-blown war on Nougat's sepolicy, and finally into the emergent "Recowvery"; I thought it might be fun to get my own hands a little dirty and write some wrappers to automate the rooting process with ample error-checking along the way.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why isn't it working?
First: update your ADB. If you don't have ADB, then you'll want to fix that before you spend another second at XDA. I personally only use official releases from Google, so I might not be much help if you're using something you found at random at XDA or elsewhere on the Internet. You can download Google's latest release of their tools from the very bottom of this page. (I recommend installing or extract them to C:\Android for easy access.) Using the "SDK Manager" included in that download, choose to install "Android Platform-tools" and "Google USB drivers", and remember to run it again once in a blue moon for updates.
If ADB isn't the problem, I'm happy to offer what assistance I can. Please describe what you were trying to do and how, then attach any .log files the script created.
Where is TWRP?
The link to the latest version is linked in this thread under Step 3.
Rename the downloaded file to recovery.img and put it on your internal storage.
Does Data need to be wiped?
For everything to work properly, YES. If you don't have an inherent understanding of what will happen if you don't run a Format Data, then please do so the first time you enter TWRP. This will erase Internal Storage and remove the default encryption so that TWRP can function to the fullest. BACK UP YOUR STUFF FIRST!
Is no-verity-opt-encrypt necessary?
YES, but not totally. This ZIP makes it possible to allow system modifications, and prevents a couple easy ways to end up with corrupt data or bootloops.
Download that from Step 3 in the thread above, and put it in the folder named zips next to EasyRecowvery.
If you're going to install SuperSU right away, you shouldn't really need it.
What is selinux?
selinux is a major security feature, and also a major pain in the butt depending on who you ask.
If you don't know if you need it in "permissive" mode, just leave it be. You can always reflash later.
Why isn't TWRP showing Internal Storage?
These phones use encryption out of the box. In order for TWRP to function properly, you will need to use the Wipe Data feature after installation.
This will blow away everything on your Internal Storage, so make sure you don't have anything important in there!

Awesome...
Awesome man, so cool to watch all this develop. Glad I could be part of it.
definitely looking forward to this. sweetness!!!!
It has been amazing watch all this develop in the past weeks. I have been flashing and rooting for about 10 years and this is the first time I've seen it all from the beginning. It is really amazing what a few of these guys are capable of...but this time for me I was left speechless. Gentlemen, (and ladies?) Thank you for all of your free time and dedication for making this possible for the average end user like me. We all don't show enough gratitude and I'm sure I'm not the only one amazed my all of your capabilities. Keep up the unbelievable work, and a nice donation is coming to everyone who contributed if I can find a way to donate to you all. Point me in the direction, and the cash flow will be on its way. Thank you again.
Sincerely,
dmoney4eal
@bezeek you might want to add the "I am not responsib...." disclaimer. One for your protection but mostly so people are aware of the possible consequences.
If only I had the T-Mobile variant I would of already wrote this and put it in this thread lol, anyone want to donate? :c

If you think you can beat me to it, there are H918 owners in #twrp on Freenode who would be happy to help you test as you go

I'm game for a friendly race. I've got lots else going on today, so it's coming together bit by bit.
(I might be putting up a rough build in the AM depending on what sort of sleep I get tonight.)

How about some money lol
Is this still a WIP? I don't see anything updated by the OP. I'm waiting to root and something like this would be great as I am leery of going through the regular method with ADB as I'm coming from a Samsung device.
I pledge $20!.
