[Q] lock light flash? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

I installed aokp from task650 & ktoonsez. I think it's brilliant and I am pleased.
I am not sure if this feature is unique to aokp or jellybean in general, but when I click the power button to lock screen / sleep, there's a distinct white flash of light like an old CRT monitor turning off. Is there any way to disable this and simply have the screen go black instead?
Thank you.

You must be really new to this. I don't recall aokp having an option to turn that off, but if it did, it would be called something like "crt animation."

If you go to dev options and change your animation speed it disables it

Members if you are not going to be providing with your posts...since this is the Q&A, then move on, I hope we understand. No need for non helping/unprovided posts.
Thank You.

An App to turn off softkey backlight?

Anyone know of an app or mod that allows you to turn off the softkey backlight when you want? I read on my Vibrant at night & those extra bright softkey lights are hard on my eyes.
does not exist for any GALAXY S.

Really? I had Captivate with i9000 reoriented kernel and those softkeys were lighting only when pressed. So if you tap screen, softkeys do not light - perfect for night reading. Solution that I see - to find a i9000 reoriented kernel for vibrant.
I know there is one called "BLN" (Back light notification I think), the paid version lets you schedule when the lights turn on and off. I have mine scheduled to turn on at five in the morning and off at seven at night. But I think it's just for notifications and not turning them off completely.

Unfortunately BLN doesn't turn off lights completely. But we can ask developer to add such feature .
Anyway there should be some sort of hack for kernel to turn off those keys.

This is correct I know of no Galaxy phone that can do this either Sorry
This is disappointing. I know it can be done. Because there are plenty of members here that have turned off their BLN keys on accident by using SGS tools, and messing around with it.
So I know the script is there. Just, nobody has done it yet.
Dev,s anybody???
Come on- Let's do this.
Thanks
Bump. I would like this for the Samsung Fascinate. Anyone?
Have you try 'Keep the lights on' in market by Guardian Bob? When toggle Off, the lights stayed off when you tap the screen. Atleast it is for me, I'm on Bi-Winning rom.

It's not the app, it's the ROM. And they come back when you tap the keys directly. I think all 2.2.1 ROMs do this.
Same issue
The key lights really bother my eyes at night....has anyone figured out a solution to this problem yet......please help thanks

[Q] Upside Down Screen

So im running ICScrewed 1.6 rom, and if i hold the phone sideways and put it in sleepmode, when i wake it back up, the screen is upsidedown, and the words are mirrored. I already tried reflashing the rom. Anything I can do? Yes im a noob
In jkay in check the CRT TV animation on. Its buggy
sent from the Dark Obelisk.
just do a screen capture (hold home and press power button)
no need to reboot.
thats all i got for right now
It is my understanding that Fancy Rotations is causing this, but don't take my word for it. (read it in one of the ICS-themed ROM threads.)
Noz might be onto something because I notice my screen go upside-down real quick as it locks (CRT Animation on). It never gets stuck like the OP is describing but I do notice this happens for a quick second before my screen shuts off.

This makes it worse.
In the ICScrewed thread there is a CWM flashable zip called "Remove Fancy Rotations". Install that using CWM and your problem will be gone. Its been brought up a lot in that thread.
Ment to say turn the CRT off.

Yea that does help, but I still got the upside down screen when using GOSMS and popup notifications. Pretty damn annoying. Removing fancy rotations does the trick though. Fancy rotations are nice and all, but nowhere near worth it for the screen bug.
I randomly got that yesterday. Took a screen shot and all is well
Strange issue though.
Sent from my AT&T cellular device.
Happened to me too. The best part about it is that while in the inverted and upside down state, you press the sane area on the screen to select things. Very tricky to reboot . But yes, after disabbling crt off anim it stopped occurring.

Removing Fancy Rotations is the only real way to prevent this from happening. Good post.
Hmm, my GF just called me about this.
Odd we are running the same everything and that has yet to happen to me.

[Q] Screen turns on after locking, CM7 weekly 4

I am running CM7 weekly 4 on my ATT Atrix. Sometimes (not always) when I try to lock the phone by pressing the power button, it will turn off, but then immediately turn back on to the lock screen.
Has anyone else seen this?
I have seen it with stock lock screen and widgetlocker.
I have also played around with a few different kernels (stock weekly, Faux123 v23 and Faux123 v24b4) and it happens with all of them.
This wasn't happening with the Ba2TF build, and I can't post in the weekly thread in Atrix Android development because I don't have enough posts to post in the dev section
Trackball is your problem..
Try to click without moving your finger..
Sorry for my Inglish..
Bye
I switched it to 'eraser' mode and thats seems to keep me from accidentally causing movement with the fingerprint sensor. It would be nice if there was a way to completely disable the fingerprint sensor as trackball functionality (I honestly don't miss the trackball from my N1 on my new atrix)

Ahh. I saw that, but didn't realize you had to reboot to make it effectual.
Thanks!

Sure, no problem. I didn't realize a reboot was required either until I read that here on XDA. Ideally it should tell you it requires a reboot.

Is there a flashlight app that will keep the LED on after the screen goes off?

Is there a flashlight app/hack for the evo 3d that will keep the LED on after the screen goes off?
This and the keyboard are the two biggest things I miss from my My Touch Slide. :crying:
The Rom I'm using zr3dx has a flashlight built into quick settings that stays on when the screen is off. I don't know if it is included in Leedroid Tweaks or was added by Drop (the Rom dev) though.

If you are rooted, any room with flashlight from status bar pull, or if it has leedroidtweaks(comes with flashlight widget from status bar) you can turn the flashlight from there...hit the power button the flashlight is gonna turn off for a second, then turn back on, until you go back to the pull down settings and turn it off...
search for Flashlight on market, ive downloaded it and led stays on even when screen goes off
Thanks for the info. I'm glad to hear it's not a Evo 3D thing.

Every app I tried (20 or so) goes off when the screen is locked. Thus the post.

You tried that, it works for me. or it could just be your Rom?

I agree. Maybe the ROM you are using goes into such a deep sleep that it shuts off the LED when you turn the screen off.
try this one: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=droid.pr.coolflashlightfree
I've tried a few, but always go back to Tesla led. It does flash off for a second when the screen shuts off, but it will come back and stay on.

When Screen Turns Off

So this isn't really a big deal but when my screen turns off it turns off like a tv where as when it turns on it just pops up like normal. Is this just how it is with ROMs or is there a way to change it back. I noticed this was happening too with my LG Esteem.

Depending on the ROM you should be able to disable CRT animation in display settings or general rom settings.

Odd. I wouldn't be surprised if someone has created a mod to remove the CRT animation. Check the mod threads and see. You can always try requesting the mod, or even ask in the rom thread for a toggle.
