[Q] restore ics stock camera and stock gallery after 4.2 camera - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have a problem with my camera so I try to installare the 4.2 camera on my haipad I9300 mtk 6577. No success so now I want to go back to the original ics camera and gallery.. Unfortunately I delete the original ones when I install the 4.2 camera. So I download the camera apk and Google gallery. Apk and put in system.app the gallery shows up but not the camera. The gallery crash very often the Main problem is I cannot make the camera shows up. Every time I turni on the phone it appears "Android update".. I don't have a recovery.
Please can you help me?

If cwm is installed on your device use wipe cache. Or do you mean that you have no recovery of the old installation?

A launcher restart could sometimes solve problem that the old version is in your drawer again.
I have never studied the stock android recovery, but I should give you the basic options like wipe cache or wipe dalvik cache. Could you take a look into your recovery?

Where did you get the camera and gallery apks from?

re enable gallery app

I was eager in to install GoogleGallery.apk (4.2 gallery) in my unrooted s3, i tried to install it but installation was unsuccessful. so i thought to disable the stock gallery then I tried to install googlegallery.apk but it failed again. loosing the hope thought of going back to enable the stock gallery app. but app it does not showed enable button in it instead it showed "uninstall updates". if click that uninstall updates also that black screen comes and it goes back to the home screen nothing is done.gallery app is not found in the phone.I am lost now. help pls
Root your phone and install the Google gallery again.
Or look for the stock gallery on this forum.
If you don't want to root your phone backup what you can,and do a factory reset.

I have both the note 2 gallery and the Google galley both installed and working. Though camera doesn't work correctly for the Google 4.2 when using flash.

GoogleGallery.apkm is a system app..system apps are not meant to be installed..they are not signed so cannot be installed in the normal way..to use a system app you will need root...after you are rooted move the apk to /system/app forder and give rw-r--r-- permission and reboot..

[Q] System apps problem

Hi, I have a problem with my Xperia U (rooted)
I've been trying to replace the Camera app, and after reboot, on the "Android is upgrading" screen it showed 150 apps updated; and then I could use none of the system apps. I looked for them in the /system/app and they were there, i just couldn't use them. Right now I'm using a launcher that I installed before. Also, I don't have network.
Anyone who has an idea how to solve it is welcome

I knew I shouldn't do it, but I did it manually, using Root Explorer.
I'm reflashing sony's stock fw, I just wanted to avoid that because I had a lot of data
Thanks anyway

This shouldn't cause such a problem... have you tried clearing dalvik cache?

Actually, no
I didn't have CWM installed, and I wasn't sure about just deleting it using Root Explorer
It's ok now, I reflashed stock ftf. now I'm trying to get my messages back. I copied everything from data/data but it seems that they're gone

Try clearing the data of that particular app. If that doesn't work, try clearing only cache and dalvik cache. Then reflash the os and bootup.:fingers-crossed:
Thanks for the reply
Installed camera from play store the icon appears for a second and then disaapears .I tried everything possible. Camera still not working. I think it's hardware problem. I haven't tried flashing my stock camera its not available online

Go back to the previous version and check that everything is ok, then do a clean flash.
