[Q] Question about a Foreign ROM - HTC Amaze 4G

Recently, someone brought up the Chinese XDA? which kanged some of the work done by the devs here. They have one rom called chenchong 4.0.4+NO-Sense, that looks particularly interesting. I used google translate to see what it says, but it is pretty broken. Does anyone know if there are any known bugs? Does it even work for the T-Mobile Amaze? Are there any other things I should know?
http://bbs.xda.cn/forum.php?mod=vie...=page=1&filter=typeid&typeid=3921&typeid=3921
BTW It says I need to register to download, but I am not able to make it work. Any help?

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO FLASH THIS ONTO YOUR HTC AMAZE PHONE.
This is a different phone, THE HTC AMAZE G22 . It's the HTC Amaze "knockoff".

oh okay thanks so much, luckily i didn't go through with anything.

Wow they actually made a knock off of the Amaze...

The knock-off looks really ugly lol, but that rom you linked in the OP, looks pretty nice. The screen shots look nice, like a mixture of sense 4.0 and a launcher (ADW or Apex, not sure which one) ,looks nice though.

Did some research and the htc amaze G22, is REALLY similar to our phone. Same charging port, same battery, etc. Maybe it'll work?

well there always a risk & you know that.I didn't change anything & luckily nothing happened to my amaze.Honestly i thought it is same as we flash roms from here. That's why tried & it worked for roms that i tried from their web site.

It should be ok if its for the amaze and not there knockoff of the amaze (which may be different)

The camera and Bluetooth audio are screwed but since I didn't use them I created EnergyExpressoXDA, its a couple pages back. Tazz& Tenzo deserve most of the credit I just added my preferred tweak and espresso look and shared it.
I doubt those issues will be resolved by us. Those 2 have their hands full, now there is GB and I'm using an incredible for daily use although I haven't left the community so if it gets done I'll happily redo the user experience mods.

It's worth a shot, but in my experience the camera will most likely never work. Froyolicious was a myTouch 2.2 port, so you can look at that thread and get an idea of how to start. Maybe someone other than me can figure it out.

[Q] Strange Camera 3D Image

I don’t know if anyone has experienced this before but I just rooted my phone and flashed the Sick-Sense VX.1 ROM and for some reason any time I switch the camera to 3d mode I get a green/pink blocky image (see attachment). I don’t know what is going on but the 2d camera works just fine and since the phone is bootloader 1.4 I really don’t want to exchange it and wind up with BL 1.5. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
What I have tried:
Reboot
Pull battery 10 min
Reflash Stock Kernel
Flash SHOOTER-CDMA-SENSE-AnthraX-RLS001 Kernel
Reflash Sick Sense ROM
HTC Amaze Camera
Wipe the whole phone a few times then reinstall the ROM perhaps.
That's a weird pic lol. A full wipe should help . If not the camera is screwed up.

Sup man virus sometimes includes a superwipe tool with his roms I would check to see first if it has one.
Also there maybe nothing wrong with the rom your using you just need to do a full wipe like normal or you will have funky issues like the camera thing. If your flashing kernels with S on it can also cause that sorta issue. Read up on the kernels when it comes to flashing.
Also does the Amaze camera do 3d? I know it was a port from what I was reading up on.
Hope this helps man.

Which ROM has titties sticking out. Just curious for research purposes.
its because that camera is the one from the amaze and i dont think it has 3d capabilities.. switch roms or get the apk from another rom
The stock camera started displaying that weird image after flashing new ROM so I installed the amaze cam since it is supposed to work in 3D but it shows the same screen artifacts in 3D mode. I can view 3D pics and videos just fine its only the 3D camera that is freaking out.
is likely to be antrax kernel, i have that same problem but only with 3d games using infected rom with stock antrax, so i suggest you to try other kernel before you flash other rom.

Lmao same here I have seen some interesting wallpapers . On infected rom site virus has some nice lookin wallpapers and boot screens for enternity Need some research
Just as an update, I used superwipe and flashed new ROM and still no dice. Using my finger over the two camera lenses, I noticed that in 3D mode only the top camera is working so it’s probably a hardware issue.
Since I will get stuck w the 1.5 boot loader I was thinking it might just be better to wait for the ICS update then bring the phone in. Any thoughts on this?

Hey guys, I'm going to try to start to learn android rom development, and thought maybe porting a AOSP rom fromt the sensation would be a cool task to work with. Right now, I think the Sensation is the closest to our Amaze, but it's CM7 build is lacking. Either way, it will be a ton easier to port CM7 than CM9 for a complete noob, but that doesn't mean I don't need your help!
I like to keep an open mind and workflow on stuff (I collaborate musically like this) so anyone willing to help or learn something can hop right in and I would appreciate it!

They are very different.... thus it has been a pain in the ass to port roms to it, but since you dont have to mess with changing the screen/resolution to match it, it makes it a little easier

Hmmmm, I'm wondering how bad this risk is? Like will editing the build prop, and keeping an existing kernel brick the phone? Because by my understanding I can ALWAYS boot into the bootloader, then recovery before it even touches the files that I'm injecting
Plus my phones S-ON, not that this means anything, because I have fastboot!
From what I've read, again, there have been 0 bricked s=on Amaze devices. There have been soft bricks, but ppl have always been able to fix in fastboot

There's the soft brick my friend. Try to boot into recovery and restore. If you can't get into recovery, you will have to re-install a recovery using fastboot or adb. You can find the instructions on X's site in Amaze>Development> and find a recovery... It will be labeled "hard way" but its not really hard at all. It's easier than soft bricking your phone

WiFi not connected each morning:

Hello all.
I have searched this issue quite a bit, and I have some ideas, I just need a bit of direction.
So, I have a rooted Galaxy S2 running ICS version 4.0.3. I rooted it via Zedomax's youtube videos (I would link it, but youtube has closed his account FREE ZEDO!) Some mornings, when i wake up, I notice my WiFi is not connected and my phone is using 3G for its data. So, I go look in the WiFi list and it is on, but its not connected. I tap connect, nothing happens. It doesn't even try. I forget the network and re-enter the credentials, nothing. I reboot the phone, same thing. Finally, once i remove the battery a few times, it starts to work but not very well. I have a Netgear WNR2000V3 router. Just did a fresh upgrade/install of the latest firmware. All of my other wireless devices at home stay on and work fine. Now, i did notice that ever since i rooted when i first got my phone on version 2.3, i had WiFi issues. So my first thought is it could be my kernel? Like i said, this only happens at home. I also have the exact same router (WNR2000v3) for my staff WiFi at work and I have no trouble connecting each morning.
So, what are the steps i can take to fix this? Is this a known issues with the ATT SGS2? Am I missing something?
I would post a sreenshot of my phone info but since I'm a new user I won't be able to so here it is in text!

Ah okay. This seems the way to go then! I like the touchwiz interface so i think i'll stick with a rom that supports it if possible. No complaints, in gingerbread i hated the way it handled MMS messages, but it works much better in ICS.
Thanks for all of your help guys!

Ah thats it? Gonna be so nice. I hope to see a big improvement. Certain things are slow and unresponsive and i KNOW ICS on SGS2's make it alot faster NOT slower.

Ah sorry i see it now. Alot of information on that page, it was towards the end of his post. Thanks. Going to flash it tonight and report back tomorrow.
No body seems to have mentioned it but since you are rooted go to them market and get Titanium Back up. That allows you to back up all of your apps and data then restore it when you get the new ROM flashed.

If you flash a new rom it is required to wipe. It doesn't take that long to set everything up again though as long as you use things like titanium backup

Very cool. I'll flash when I get home to test drive it.
I'm exited. I will probably try this out later tonight. Thanks!!!
Awesome, Thanks! Can someone post some screens when they have it installed? Also are the GApps specific to the ROM or can you use Goo for them as well?

Haven't used it but will be installing it later. I'm sure its the same as cm10 since it is based on it. It will probably run just as well.

You should check the CM10 thread such as the post below to find out about issuers before loading this ROM.

Hi. I'm a new user of the CM10 Alpha 2 and am very thankful for the work put into it. I have encountered some issues I wanted to report. I did search the thread before posting this but it's entirely possible I missed something.
I use an app called AutomateIt to do some stuff on demand. One of those things is to enabled Bluetooth when I put the phone in the car dock. The trigger still works as the other actions I have scheduled (volume changes, etc...) still happen but BT never turns on. Oddly it IS able to turn BT off when I undock.
When I undock and turn BT off my audio appears to stop working. I no longer hear media audio nor the UI sounds when I tap. I haven't tested call audio yet to find out if that's broken. Rebooting the phone restores audio.
Apps that install themselves on the SD card disappear on reboot. I found a post where someone suggested moving these to internal, which I have done. I've had about a 50% success rate so far as some of the apps crash on launch after moving to internal.
Netflix closes immediately upon launch. Several apps close intermittently: Email, Gmail, & Flipboard are some examples.

He was asking Bout customization options I believe... check out the aokp site for details. The OP says almost all things work when it comes to customization except a couple.
Edit: here is a list of some features https://sites.google.com/site/androidopenkangproject/feature-lsit
Nice (fast) work. Unfortunately MMS is a deal breaker for me, but as soon as you've gotten that going I'm happy to test drive it.

If this is like CM10A2, GoSMS should suffice as a workaround.
Man, I've been wanting to install this since yesterday but havent had the time. I'm contemplating flashing it at work but I already had one bad experience with flashing at work last week. lol
