NO.
Jelly Bean let alone ICS is not really going to work on our hardware. The reason it says that version is simply a change to a system file (dont do this unless you know what it is) called build.prop.
The system space needed even for a completly stripped (but usable) ICS install would be more rom space than we have so I doubt it will work. Imo

No . Cyanogenmod 10 is like jelly bean but we haven't got cm 10

GB to JB

hello friend
i am new here can anyone tell how to install jellybean from stock GB (not rooted)
Stock jelly bean is still not released
If you want a custom jelly bean ROM you need to be rooted

False!
leaked stock JellyBean is out there. Official is not released.
And for the thread starter, search the forums. It's not hard to find how to root and start flashing your phone.

You DO realize that leaked is not the same as released, right?

Stop asking FAQ and go read the guides or use search. Obviously you're not going to be the first person to ask this so stop expecting people to repeat answers.

He didnt say it was. Even so, the rom was "released" to testers, and "leaked" to public. Only final is released to public.

I'd argue that he did. For context:

This to me seems that Ben101 says "Stock jelly bean is still not released", which krayndr then declares "False!"
I work in software; I differentiate between a leak and a release. "Released to testers" is not a release. We send many builds to testers before we have a release candidate.

Not sure why you're directing this question to me; is it because I said I work in software? That doesn't mean I work in developing software specifically for this device, or even for Samsung devices in general...
But if you're having issue with a leaked firmware, doesn't it make sense to go back to a released firmware?

I'm not sure if it's the leaked firm fault or something else. Sorry bothering you with my sh*t.
There's no STOCK FW at the moment. Just a leak for testing only. Just be patient.

yes, u can do So ma8
but why we prefer GB > ICS > JB is that ur installation goes smooth without any issue and also rooting ICS is much easier (since lot of option's to do so) rather with GB.
but the choice is urs
PS- regarding EMMC bug it comes only with the stock kernel of ICS 4.0.4, while ICS 4.0.3 is safe from the same(EMMC bug)

Hi
First of all you need to root the phone. The best way to do that would be to flash cf-root compatible with your rom version. You can find exactly what your build is by checking settings > about phone
Find compatible cf-root kernel and put it in PDA in odin and flash... there are lot's of guides out there - won't be hard to find
Second, before you go further you need yoo updete your bootloader. So either flash ICS stock through odin (not recommended cause will unroot again) or flash bootloader through odin. Again there are proper guides for that...
Then you can upgrade to whatever you want...
Keep in mind that emmc cap bug does not exist in GB kernels. so you can use the CWM recovery in cf-root kernels for GB rather safely.
If you update to stock ICS then you need to keep an eye what kernel you're using to wipe data. Siyah and dorimanx are safe and I always use them.
Loads of roms out there, pure aosp, cm based, aokp based and the leaked sammy rom. Personally checked alot of each first three and also several versions of the leaked one... All good.
Word of edvice - do read more on those things. No matter how much expirience people who answer threads like that have, you'll never substitute your own knowledge and expirience.
Go on and root and enjoy the android world, mate. Best of luck

I've been looking for a custom 4.2 ROM but can only see 4.1.2 ROMs.
Is there a reason why no chefs have managed to get 4.2 working?

Maybe because it's more complicated to achieve than it seems?
4.2 will only be available or we can see roms based on 4.2 when Samsung decides to i.e. a leak rom from Samsung. Even 4.1.2 is a leaked one. Samsung has not officially released 4.1.2.

Notification Bar and Camera Updates

Hey
I did an update from Settings - About - Software Update
to newest Jelly Bean 4.1.4.
And after that it became a bit annoying. It freezes for few seconds before exiting camera; sometimes even gives me error CAMERA FAILURE
+ the received email/sms are FULLY shown in notifications, which i want to move back, as it was (as a small preview of first few words of email/sms)
so is there a possible way of rolling it back, to Android 4.0.4. the one i had before. that was originally installed on it, WITHOUT rooting the phone? (cuz it will kill the guaranty from the seller)
is 4.1.1 or 4.1.2 =.=

[Q] Galaxy S2 GT-I9100, is this the correct rom for me?

I am new to the rooting / rom / kernel game and done some research. I am just wanting to double check to make sure this is the correct one for me.
This is the rom I am wanting to use: [ROM][4.2.1][19/01]Slim Bean - I9100 [RC1]
My phone is rooted and I have done my rom backup and titanium backup of "All user apps + system data".
I just want to make sure this is the correct rom for my phone so I don't brick the damn thing lol.
My Model is:GT-I9100Android Version:4.0.3Baseband Version:I9100XXLPSKernel Version:[email protected] #3
yes, that rom will work.
be advised since they are starting with a new base, you may find it full of bugs and FC.

Why not try CM9 (ICS) or CM10 (JB 4.1.2) or CM10.1 (JB 4.2.1). CM10 looks like stock Android but has some good tweaks. Alternatively if you would prefer as close as stock as possible try the rom you mentioned but get previous base version until they release final of JB base.
When you restore from Titanium its not "recommended" to restore the data as well if you have changed android versions. (although i generally ignore that advice)
the cm10 nightly from 22nd installed on my new s2 a breeze, i just installed a non stock kernel first.
I went ahead and installed their 3.1 version and had all kinds of bugs, so I went ahead and flashed the 4.2.1 version. Everything works great except my damn clock keeps restarting. I get a message "Clock has stopped" and then it resets to a random time. Then I reboot and it grabs my time from my provider again....
Anyone have any idea?

Do you know why stable releases disappeared from get.cm/?device=i9100 and why the last stable is 9.1 in get.cm/?device=galaxys2 ? (sorry I cannot post links)

Did you look for people with the same problem(s) as you in the rom-thread? If not, you can better ask there in the specific thread.

Because CM9.1 was their most recent stable version. CM10 was never really finished and the development went on to CM10.1, which is still 'under construction'

XMP SK17i will not receive official 4.1.2 JB update. Latest update available is 4.0.4 ICS version only. IF you prefer cyanogen based 4.1.2 rom, use Super jelly bean 8 rom. Its fantastic...
May be your rom is unlocked & so not even detected ICS update. Instead use FLASHTOOL application, download your prefered stock ICS or GB .ftf file & flash it.

I meant 4.0.4 not 4.1.2
I hate cyanogen based roms and 4.1.2 will make my phone laggy as hell xD
PC Companion hasn't detected any updates...
Can it be because my bootloader is unlocked ?
Thanks

BOOTLOADER UNLOCKED will be the cause.
Download Flashtool from here: http://www.flashtool.net/download.php
Download 4.0.4 ftf file from here: http://www.flashtool.net/firmwares.php
Then flash it manually. No need for sony erricson pc suite:fingers-crossed:
But for information Cm10(4.1.2) is much faster than android. Now it supports 720p recording also
The only drawback is no bravia engine 2 support.

a) cm (cyanogenmod) is android. sony rom too. cm is just the same as nexus fw with some additional features.
b) cm allways supported 720p recording. its just disabled (but if you xperienced enough you can enable it yourself if you build from source ) bcuz of 2 things: its laggy due to sony dont support us with drivers over ICS, also they never released source so we could do it ourselves . 2) disabling it results in 22mb more ram.
c) you can use even bravia engine 3 or x-reality (look in arc thread for it) on cm. there many users say it works for them. for me even on stock ics those stuff is only bloatware & i cant see any diffrence even when i compare phone to phone... (i done it with friend)
d) @Dorian995 i will see your face as you maybe find out some day how much more power you get delivered from a 4.2.2 JB (cm10.1) (or even up to 4.4 KK) ROM compared to stock. it will blast you away.
