[Q] MeanBean Whitelist issue - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

I know this should go into the development forum for MeanBean but being a new member it will not let me post there.
I'm trying to add an app or two to the whitelist but I cannot find the /data/MeanBean.wl file. I've flashed the zip and have tried searching for it in ES File Explorer in root mode but have had no luck. Any pointers????

what zip did you flash? Because if you flashed whitelist-template.zip it should be there. /data/MeanBean.wl.
i wouldn't maked it yourself. It is made in a particular way that needs to set correctly. I would try reflashing the zip again.
Remember to go to post 3 to learn how to add the apps you want to the whitelist.

So far I've tried flashing it twice. I'll go into File ES Explorer and do a search for /data.MeanBean.wl. but the search returns no files. Do you happen to know exactly what folder this gets put into?

Disregard, read it wrong.

Make sure Es Explorer is set up to root.
/data
there should be a file MeanBean.wl
I just tried doing a search in Es Explorer and it doesn't see it either
its in the data folder

When I got to ES Explorer and try to open up the file, it asks me what to open it as. I say "text" (makes the most sense, right?), but then it doesn't do anything and gives me the error "Unsupported file". What am I doing wrong?

[Q] Out of space

I have been trying to install Copilot navigation, but keep getting the out of space message. I have tried the directory bind solutions shown in the other threads, but still no joy.
So... I tried uninstalling gta3 and some other apps, and but am still getting the message. I don't get it... The manage apps settings page says I have 11gb free.... Why the hell can't I install anything?

Go to data/app and delete the odex file related to the file you are trying to install.. in your case, delete some file named something like copilot .odex or something and install copilot again..done
Thanks for the quick reply.
Do you mean /data, or mnt/data, or sdcard/data.... Can't seem to find any odex files!
If you have installed copilot before then its the old cache thats the problem. Simplest solution is to install 'App Cache Cleaner' free from play store
Edit: sorry scratch that it only clears still installed apps
booting into recovery and wiping the dalvik cache should do it (assuming you're rooted)

You can only see odex files in file explorers using root. i guess you are rooted?.. use root explorer.. open it ...then open data..then open apps and find some odex file related to copilot..delete it.. done

Thanks mate.
I had been using es explorer, which supposedly can access root, but I couldn't see the files.

This usually happens when you use apps like lucky patcher.. if you use it, you mite see odex files which are responsible for out of space errors..
It works

How to Change Galaxy S3 Touch Sound

Can anyone here help or assist me, How to change the Galaxy S3 Touch Sound???

This requires root!
The sounds (by default) are stored in /system/media/audio/ui/
!NOTE: This is for system/OS sounds. Notifications etc are not stored here!
Screen touch sound is "TW_Touch.ogg" and back and menu button sounds are "S_HW_Touch.ogg"
If you would like to change the sound to something else, find a mp3 or something that you would like to use then convert it to a .ogg format.
Can be done on this website: htt$p://audio.on$line-convert.$com/convert-to-ogg *Remove $ symbols from URL
Then rename your new .ogg to either "TW_Touch.ogg" or "S_HW_Touch.ogg" dependent on what sound you would like to change.
Place the .ogg file on your sd card and move it the mentioned directory and overwrite (delete) the original .ogg file (backup first).
Then remember to set the permissions of the .ogg file to "rw-r--r--" and make sure it is named correctly, it is case sensitive.
Reboot system and enjoy your new sounds :good:
I tried everything that you said and it doesn't work for me. When i try to move/overwrite the file it tells me "Cannot copy or move file". When i try to delete the orginal file first it tells me "Warning - Could not delete". I am on stock rom and rooted. When i try to change permissions to the original files it gives me error "unable to chmod /system/media/...bla bla". What to do?
Ok. I got it. Thanks for everything!! Thumbs up!

Your root has failed, download root checker to see.
If it fails you will need to re-root with CF-Root.
Very Awesome. Thanks for the help.
I am running into an issue. My phone has been verified as rooted by rootchecker. The only way I can see the root directory on the phone is with Astro File Manager. Once in the correct folder, I can see the TW_TOUCH.OGG file and have a replacement. However I can't write to the folder. I can't even rename the original. Checking the properties of the file I don't see any notations that the file or folder are write protected. I assume the entire drive is per se with the exception of the \SDCARD directory.
Is there a better tool for doing all this? I'd like to have something I can use from a PC as well.
Thanks,
Karl
Use Super Manager or Android Commander .

First you need to Root.
There are good guides around here.
I'd recommend ES File Explorer
Download it then
Open ES File Explorer
Menu > Settings > Root settings.
Check Root Explorer
Click Grant when SU popup appears.
Check Up to Root
and Check Mount File System.
Now it will copy succesfully to the system folder.
Slightly easier
No need to do renaming. Save desired oggs to your ext sd card.
Use Root Browser (ES doesnt seem to go to system no matter)
Use Root Browser. Go to your ext sd card. Long press on the desired .ogg. Copy it.
navigate to the folder l /system/media/audio/ui/ as instructed above.
Click paste. If your file is named correctly it will ask 'replace?' click yes. Do the same for the other file.
Reboot. You have to reboot. How it still plays water droplets before rebooting Idk. But reboot and you back to clicky goodness. (who thought of that water droplet. Chinese water torture.)
Edit: I attached the two files. Change from .txt to .ogg.
operation failed?

First of all, to put it in /system/app, you're going to need to be rooted.
I use ES File Explorer, but you can use whatever you want. In any case, I'll write instructions for ES.
1. Go to ES's settings and then root settings and check "root explorer", "up to root", and "mount file system".
2. Navigate to your app wherever you saved it and long click > copy.
3. Navigate to /system/app and paste
4. Long click on the app you just pasted and go to properties
5. Click on the "change" button next to permissions
6. Set User: Read Write, Group: Read, Other: Read
7. Reboot your phone and hope for the best!
Note: The app still might not work as a system app.

Enabling Root Explorer?

Based on a suggestion, I just purchased, downloaded, and installed Root Explorer by Speed Software. I want to use this to rename a root file, and yes, my phone is rooted. With Root Explorer, I quickly found the file, highlighted it, then tapped the three dot and Rename. However, once I told it to rename, I was presented with a message that says: Rename Failed.
What must I do to allow renaming?
is your system R/W

Thanks for the reply, but dumb question: How to I check, and set if necessary, my system to be R/W?
If you do not know, it means it is not. Do you have TWRP?

Test this https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...released-fully-featured-file-manager.1523691/
joke 19: I tried MiXplorer. Found the file, highlighted it, clicked the name button, but was told 'file not renamed'.
I suspect that the problem is due to file permissions. The file in question only has Read permission for the Group and Others, and the normal account is not Owner. I tried changing the permissions, but that obviously failed.
