Miracast or wireless display. - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

As TEGRA 3 supports Miracast I was wondering how to use it with the prime. Any ideas?
And also, is there any other good way to stream the prime's display directly to a TV, wireless.

This forum is getting dead. good questions going on unanswered..

the prime comes with anynet by asus that does exactly this.

Sv: Miracast or wireless display.
Well, how to you play to something then? Because I can only seem to play to my Prime. There is a play to button, but the only alternative is the tf201. And also that wouldn't share the screen to a tv, or would it?

both devices need to be on the same network for starters. My samsung plasma needed to agree to the connection first and that was somewhere in the tv settings then it showed up as an option in the play to menu. My new Vizio does not come with that functionality though. I does however still play the files from my prime using its own menu as I have enabled the sharing of media files wehn the mynet software came up asking for permission. So there are a couple of ways the connection can be made to play your media on your tv from your prime.

If the device is DLNA compatible then use Skifta. I find it far easier.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.skifta.android.app&feature=nav_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDMsImNvbS5za2lmdGEuYW5kcm9pZC5hcHAiXQ..

There is a lot of difference between dlna and miracast.
Dlna = Prime can share files that other devices can see and play...
Miracast = mirroring what u see on prime to any tv.
With miracast, u can Play games like temple run by watching your tv, but still swiping on ur tablet.
To op's qn...Miracst will be supported with 4.2 android version.. i think statement has been made by nvidia as well confirming this for tegra 3. Google.
All u need is a netgear ptv3000 device hooked onto yout tv that will wirelessly connect with your tablet.

Ah, ok that's a bit sad then.
About the dongle. if I have one, my tv doesn't need dlna. Right? Also do you know if the prime/tablet will send data to the dongle constantly or are you able to decide when to do that?

Prime does not support miracast yet , so dont know.
Samsungs allshare cast works damn nice for screen mirroring. You can pair the dongle with the tablet and start stop mirroring anytime you like. I have a note 10.1 tablet and galaxy s3, and I mirror them both on tv to play games watch movies.
Dlna is different than miracast... once I can mirror, I dont think u will need dlna that much.
I am banking that samsung allshare cast, miracast and intel widi will all merge into one protocol, and it would be lovely then.

Yeah, mirroring will eliminate my need of dlna. The Samsung all share is a Great solution though it only works with samsung products as you need the all share framework. And I dont think you can get around that.

My friend just discovered this feature. He was able to push photos he was viewing on his s3 phone to his Panasonic plasma TV wirelessly. So the underlying protocol that Samsung uses must work with other manufactures.

Yes sir.
This feature is called dlna. S3 has allshare play that is dlna.
Can your friend play a game on s3 and u watch his screen play on tv? That is screen mirroring.

Yes it does work with other manufacturers but right now you'll need a samsung device which is running a Sammy rom to use the allshare app. Though dlna is a really nice feature

I've got a hd ready tv, it's got a usb port at the back, but thats for services only, it's not a smart tv and I havent got DNLA....
Either buy a smart Blu-ray player or wait a few weeks for the Allshare cast dongle.
i posted in another thread, but I use the allshare cast on my tv/phone, or at least try to. The app on my tv freezes when trying to enter music or video folder. what gives?
Works perfectly for me, wireless to the tv and wireless to the SGS3.
Even use the SGS3 instead of my remote too.

Stream movies from Phone to Samsung TV wireless? (How to)

Hi guys, just bought a Samsung smart TV and I wanted to know if and how could I stream movies from my phone to the TV Wireless.
I'm currently running Cm9. If there is an app required can someone upload it please.. thanks
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
You need all share to stream stuff on your smart tv. I don't know if all share works with CM9 though. All share is included in the stock Rom, so maybe if you ask somebody he/she will extract it for you do you can try it on CM9
it works on stock
Dont know about CM9, but with the stock rom, you just need to make sure your TV and Phone are connected to the same wifi and then you play your file on your phone. A symbol at the top of the stock player shows a 'choose your player' dialogues and then you choose your TV. Its starts playing either instantly or with a prompt on your tv, depending on your tv setup. I have mine set to auto accept. Works with photos and videos. I have tried with 1080p movies and it works without a problem.
Tv is LG LM670T. 3d smart. its gorgeous
I think most recently manufactured tv hs dlna.
Just search your tv model on Internet then you should be able to find out.
If so, then download bubbleupnp app from play store. You can either set up another server on your computer, which I do, using plex server, which you can download for free for your pc. Or you can use your phone as the server as well.
You can control all the streaming from your pc to your tv or phone to tv right from the bubbleupnp app. Very cool. If you install the extra bubbleupnp server on your computer, you can even stream remotely. Very easy to set up and very cool. Real cool.

If I understand well, you have two options: (1) stock Samsung rom and AllShare Cast (it needs Samsung framework, hence CM will not work) or (2) use DLNA (check if your TV supports it, but I guess so) and one of the apps mentioned above (which will also work in CM as it should support DLNA).

Allshare Cast & Share Shot

Hi,
I just want to understand how Allshare Cast and Share Shot are used. These features are not described fully anywhere. At least, I couldn't find a good source.
My first question is about Screen Sharing with Allshare Cast:
How can I share my S3 screen to other devices ? Which devices support receiving of S3 screen from Allshare Cast ?
Can I share screen of an S3 to another S3 ?
What about Samsung D series TV ? Can we share S3 screen to D series TV ?
the other question is about Share Shot:
I can successfully share shot from one S3 to another S3. The photo taken, goes to the other S3 quickly.
However, one of my colleagues told me that the camera screen could also be shared live to the other S3. Is that possible ? How ?
Thanks.
does anyone have any knowledge about this ?
allshare cast
hi
allshare cast is for a new samsung dongle like apples airplay
its a little gadget that have hdmi out to put in tv
you pair your phone with it and then you can stream sound/pictures/video
up to 1080p
allshare shot is what i think a way of sharing photos to allshare capable devices
like phones and tablets
spillyft
yes I know that but allshare cast works on new generation Samsung TVs without a need for any dongle.
I just wonder if it would be possible to do it on older TV ?
As i know its from gen8 tv and up
Spillyft
I am currently waiting for my AllShare Cast Dongle (will be out end of August over here in Asia as per supplier).
You can use the AllShare Cast Dongle, as I understood, with any TV with HDMI in and it will support in addition to the usual Photo & Video sharing via e.g. your Samsung Smart TV also screen mirroring. (see also: http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/03/allshare-cast-wireless-streaming-dongle-samsung-galaxy-s-iii/).
Allshare works with my WDTV Live, not with Netgear Entertainer though.

As far as I know this is only possible with the AllShare Cast Dongle
it's too bad that older generation TVs do not support Allshare Cast / Allshare Play.
Especially when D series is just model of 2011.
what about sharing screen between 2 S3 ?

Allshare Cast is a program that will run on the phone and push the screen of the phone to Samsung SmartTV's when it's released. The dongle is a separate piece of hardware used for non-Samsung tv's to do the same thing. Since I can't post links yet Samsung's global page shows how they both work and the Allshare Cast is listed as "Will be available soon."
anything new about this ?

Allshare-Cast

hey guys can this work without the need for the ead-t10jdegsta all-share cast hub/ dongle ?
using a s3, and UA46ES6200MXRD smammy smart tv.
the all share stuff works awesome, if i'm in the default video player, can easily throw the video to the tv ...
but what about the screen mirror function?
ie http://youtu.be/7p6nOAcSUsE
i have a nfl game pass subscripton, and this is the easiest way to get it on my tv as far as i can tell ...if it works.
the allshare cast option on my s3 doesn't find my tv when it scans .... so i'm thinking maybe only the series 7 and up tv's actually do it with out the dongle.
but man ... if thats the case ...is it mearly samsung holding it back to sell more dongles or tv's?
i mean if i can send 1080p video to the tv via all share ...then why not screen mirror /allshare-cast?
wonder if there is a non official app on the market somewhere
same shiit here,i have 40es6800 tv and cant connect with my s3 via allshare cast. Maybe it is needed allshare cast dongle or maybe it is bugged ^^
I read somewhere that screen mirror via normal all share cast is not supported, only with the dongle whereas I am not sure if this is 100% true. (just got a normal Samsung TV and waiting for my dongle to be delivered)

as i heard that dongle is needed for non smart tv which doesnt have wifi direct, my tv has wifi-direct+wifi integrated adapter and still it doesnt work. Maybe sammy doesnt released atm firmware with that feature enabled
yeah from what im reading even the screen mirror (allshare-cast) isn't working via the dongle either ...which is a bit of false advertising imo if the case, all it does is provide wifi for non-smart tv's ?
wonder if it's a rights thing? i see they removed tv->cell screen mirroring from the samsung smartview app ...as in removed functionality what WAS working ... hmmmmm

The TV's need an software firmware upgrade which Samsung is working on.
Samsung advise that the option to use your S3 as dongle is still in development - they cannot give me any time frame. I think they are trying to get people to buy the dongle just in case this works with all DLNA / wifi enabled TVs, if it does they wont sell out as many dongles when the app come out.
I say this as I cant see any reason why it would still be in development, it was "coming soon" months ago and cant be that difficult to get working if the dongle has the same tech / protocols, should just be an app port at most.

No dongle on my main TV (sorry dongle was connected all the time) but had to pull the lan cord to get a wifi connection(this was for the smart view app), hope they correct this in the next firmware.
LH2 on the note 10.1, LH1 on the sgs3. Tv dunno I'am not at home.

Dongle is required for all TV's at the moment, Samsung havent yet enabled it properly for use with WIFI tv's, Samsung or otherwise. If you want to mirror now you will need the dongle and be using stock ROM.

[Q] Allshare Cast on ASUS TF201?

Has anyone ever successfully tried porting the Samsung neat feature of streaming your device to big screen TV via Allshare Cast onto Asus Prime?
Try Avia
With aVia you can create a DLNA server, client and Renderer Server.
If you have other renderer server (i.e. samsung tv) you can send video from DLNA server to it and control from yoyr phone/tablet.

I have a galaxy note 10.1, tf201, and a allshare cast dongle.
So am in the same boat.
I am hoping that with 4.2 update to prime, it will support miracast.
And then hopefully samsung too will update dongle software to also make it miracast compatible.. allshare is anyways a layer on miracast..so should not be difficult if samsung wanted to do this.
