[Q] Camera LED flash way too strong - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello there,
I think the camera flash is way too strong on the SGSII. Every photo I do with it make people close their eyes (I do it too) which is a pain is the ass.
I searched before for this problem and found several threads from 2011 like this one but no apparent solution.
Since then, is there a way/an app that can fix this ? I'm running cm-10.1
Thanks

I don't know of any solution that would help you, I only know that most phone cameras have that kind of problem. My hint is turn off the flash and try making the pictures with minimum exposure in party or candlelight mode. Normally pictures with flash suck anyways ^^ so try working without it. :good:

hey man, don't go making people blind!

So i tried some searches but i have failed who knows maybe fail search word keys but anyway wat i want to ask started from me with my friend trying to get a picture of a jump at night which became quite IMPOSSIBLE only blurness Which i dislike about my phone with its awesomeness not having burst picture or undersports dunno the word in english setting/option, so was wondering anyway to fix those or any application for this thing i tried fxcamera but i understood its for a different purpose:|thx a bunch in advance(more on thnaks button;p)
lol we Greeks and our dictionary(awesomeness) xD Yeah yeah, we got one of the finest phones, my friend.
As for your camera problem, did you zoom in? Was flash on? Maybe you should hit the "Outdoor visibility" in camera's settings. =)

hehe c'mon u like it<<awesomeness>>;however yes i did those the main problem was it was on the move picture which wihtout burst image mode don't think is gonna do any good, you know it had to catch me in the air:\ So i was a blur think moving;P
Hmmm, I can't see why would it blur while you're in the air. Maybe it didn't auto-focus correctly? Otherwise, retake the photograph by adjusting the settings or use Photoshop.

[Q] question about camera and flash led.

guys i have a little problem-question here..
i was taking pictures of my guinea pig.
i bought camera zoom fx from the market and when i focus the flash is soft and the image in the screen is perfect clear and beautiful then after the first flash there is a second flash, this second flash is stronger and ruin my picture making it yellow.. actually im using stock rom but i have no problem if y need to flash any other rom.
i tried a lot of camera apps but my favorite is this camera zoom fx for the screen shooting.
the point is.. i dont want to use that second strong flash when im taking pictures. can u help me?
if u dont understan my english please. ask.
Having same trouble... With yellowing the pic.... Damn and while switching to video... The screen gets darker!
Tried on many roms.... But still getting yellow images!

there must be an option or script to cancell that strong flash after the first focus flash. cuz really the flash while focus the picture make the colors perfect.. i dont know why there is another >.<
Macro mode : Soft Flash
Autofocus : Strong Flash
That's it.
Click Thanks if that works. Cause that really works
that is what i want.. but now.. the pictures are.. i dont know if this word exist but.. the picture is unfocused. i will keep trying. and u won your first thaks cuz the flash is soft and that was what i wanted..
The pictures come out "yellow" because the phone doesn't use the area lighting for the picture and instead uses all the light the flash produces. If you turn off the flash, the picture will come out exactly as it looks. You can't use just the normal weak flash unless you're in a lighted area. Then you might want to turn off the flash.
Meh, I don't think you'll understand.

Well, with all I know about cameras by being a freelancer photographer and with my little knowledge about android what I can say to try to help you is:
Did you wipe your phone between flashes? I'll guess you did since you tried multiple roms. If you didn't, You'd better try to...
If stock ROMs also show the problem I'm afraid to tell you that the only circumstances I saw this kind of problem in my life was in faulty camera sensors.
Were your sensor hit by any kind of laser or a very strong light while trying to snap a picture? Similar problems happened lately with photogs attending a concert. See link:
http://www.diyphotography.net/20000k-red-epic-sensor-burnt-lasers
If this didn't help and the problem started out of nowhere then maybe you got a faulty unit, are you still on warranty? If so, it's time to revert to stock and go to a service center!
Kindly hope I'm very wrong though... Good luck!

Thanks, The funny thing is sometimes works fine and sometimes works like the pic attached. No idea at all. The phone has never felt or had anything like you said such as strong light or laser.
thanks
Search the forum... Maybe a camera fw upgrade may help. Worth a try. Good luck.

My feeling is that this could well be a hardware problem, not a software problem - ie nothing to do with your ROM, as you said you've flashed a few. If it is a hardware fault then see if you can get it fixed under warranty - but as has already been said, you'd need to return to your stock rom first otherwise they wont honour the warranty.
Having said that... were all the ROMS you tried AOSP / AOKP based? While I haven't had the problem you have and it does seem very unique, I have had more issues and bugs with the camera when using ROMS built from these sources on my i9300 than anything else. At the end of the day, Samsung know best how to drive their camera hardware, and so it doesn't surprise me that the vanilla Google roms can be a bit buggy when it comes to device-specific hardware such as the camera.
You could try flashing a stock-based custom rom - one built from Samsung firmware. Omega ROM that you are currently using also do a stock-based rom built on the 4.2.2 Samsung leak, I have used it and can confirm that it was pretty darn stable and the camera worked really well. It has a few mods in it, nothing spectacular, but it is stable.
Hope this helps.
This looks like a hardware problem. But can't be 100% sure.
I had a camera and someone dropped it, after dropping it, the camera started taking photos like that with stripes of different colours.
Did you drop it or water got on it?
very weird
I tried to fix permission, wipe dalvik and wipe bats and the camera starts to work again. Have no idea how long it will take. so far it is working as has never had a problem.
thanks for all answers...
and sorry to post this on the wrong section.

How to extract photos from hard bricked XPERIA P ?

Hi..I had the very same problem that is mentioned in this thread, and it seems like that the phone is dead for good:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2383875
My only question is, how can I extract my photos & vedios from the internal memory? Of course I understand that this isn't about USB cables and stuff, I know that I'll probably have to dissemble my phone, and I'm willing to do that, I just need to know what to do exactly? Thanks in advance for every body..

I believe there are devices that can read the memory, find a lab that has one compatible with your phone.
Have you tried all tricks, like rubber band?

What kind of lab? sorry my English isn't that good and Google translate didn't help in this one (All I know is that "lab" means laboratory, but I think that this not what you've meant at all).

I've tried every thing but the "rubber band trick". in fact this is the first time I hear about it but anyway I'll search for it in the forums and try it.. if it helps to know the phone doesn't work even in fast boot or flash mode.
Thanks..

I meant a repair shot, or service.
Next time you you quote leave at least one quote with poster name, otherwise there is no notification.

Banish "soft skin" effect from front/back camera!

Let's go straight to the subjetc. Xperia Z2 has a good Front Facing camera, but the overprocessing kills the quality. And you can't turn it off, even if you can, it still do the post processing that tries to make you look like an asian teenager in a oil painting.
I'm tired, I'm done. Seems like a lot of people complains about the same, but no one has moved a finger to find a solution, and here comes the push.
I am looking for a dev who can finally remove$$$$ it/turn it off/ delete/send to mars/throw in the deep sea that F***ING camera post processing filter/"feature". :fingers-crossed:

Use cameringo+ o cameringo lite app, where front the camera doesn't post process a lot. But in some situations is with a lot of noise (expecially in dark scenes). But in Light situations it is optimal try it and tell me... or Just unlock the bootloader.

Yes, I've done that 3 days ago, and sure works, but the effect is still there, just not that heavy.

I'll try that app. Just unlocked bootloader and helped a lot, but it's still there, just soften than before.
