Advice??? - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

I currently have a x10i and have had it for years now its been flashed and rooted but sometimes the phone freezes during some games ie pool break pro which is a pain also the rom development has slowed down considerable so
I have been offered a swap for a x10 mini pro but would like some advice whether its worth it and how far the device is with development I'm looking to stay on cm based roms and any downfalls of the device?

The x10i is the 'big' experia X10. It has seen more development than it's smaller cousins (x10 mini and x10 mini pro), but i'm guessing any CM-based roms are roughly on par with what you have now. The hardware (processor, memory etc.) are roughly the same so you shouldn't expect miracles.

i know its pretty similar but the x10i ics roms has no video camera and has been the issue for nearly 6 months and that is why im kinda leaning away from the x10i are you able to tell me if the mini pro ics roms are the same and how does ics/jb roms run on mini pro

They're ok-ish, especially MiniCM10 (JB) by nobodyAtall (nAa) is pretty impressive, and he sort of managed to fix the camera and video. Not perfect, but usable at least. But if you have problems with laggy games, then ICS or JB wouldn't be the right choice anyway, because they're very memory-hungry. In that case you should stick to a GB rom, which has a lower memory footprint and uses up less cpu. GingerDX v 029 looks very ICS/JB like but is based on CM7-GB, and is very fast.
And besides that, the hardware keyboard will not work 'out of the box' on ICS or JB, there is a workaround, but you'll have to fix that yourself. There are instructions in the dev-threads on how to do that.

thank you for your reply does the mini pro use the flastool by bin4ry and androxyde the x10i uses to flash kernals and one more thing im currently on miui gb on my x10i and would like to stay on miui mainly due to the ease of customisation is there a fully working miui version available and if so what kernal and rom and any add ons would i need for everything to work

Flashtool: Yes
Miui: GB-version by Rempty seems to have reached 'just-about-perfect' status, you'll need nAa-13 or nAa-14 kernel for that. Dev-thread is here
There are (I believe) two ICS-versions too, but i think they still lack the camera-fixes and haven't been updated in a while.

Is it the Naa... for ics
Once again thanx for the advice

[Q] Blade vs x10

Hi all,
I'd like some advice about which phone to keep, currently I have a ZTE Blade running Gingerbread and everything works and it's smooth. However, I ordered an x10 since it was dirt cheap for it's specs to sell on for profit or keep (maybe).
The Blade has the same GPU (Adreno 200) but an ARM v6 processor but has 512MB of RAM
I'd like to know how does Flash perform on the x10?
Is 384MB RAM the 'bottleneck' for the device?
From what I've seen on YouTube the Froyo and Ginerbread ROM's for the x10 seem slower than the Blade's (the videos may have been old)
But I understand that Gingerbread is likely less mature and therefore, less optimized.
So which is the smoothest ROM for the x10 with everything working? I glanced at XAT CM6 and TW007.
Finally, is it likely that the official Gingerbread in Q2/Q3 will make the current port better?
Sorry if I've mistaken anything, please correct me! And thanks for your help.
well technically when we get gingerbread, it won't be a 'port', it will just be rooted first, then tweaked to the teeth. I recommend you try a more stable GB ROM, with a stock kernel for now. TripNraver has 2, I prefer his miui.

Ah true. Always wanted to try MIUI. Thanks

Best rom for x10 mini pro with Gingerbread?

Hi guys
I'm trying the GinTonic rom by slade after some roms with Froyo.
What rom do you use? Why?
Gingerbread or Froyo?
I use MiniCM7 Pro by paul-xxx, it's very good, quick and stable, but if you want a battery saver forget Gingerbread and use Froyo or Eclair roms...
I'm not looking for a battery saver. I bought another battery for that xD
I was using MiniCM7 Pro on my U20i but anytime someone tried to call me it rung once on their end then went straight to unable to connect call, and on my phone all that happened was my balance came up after the person had hung up their phone, texts were ok it was only the incoming calls that were the problem, Ive gone back to stock rom as im waiting on a job interview result so cant afford not to have incoming calls
i've had a great experience with gingerdx. you should give it a try. you won't be disappointed
I've been trying literally all roms and versions available at XDA, and CM7Pro_v7x is by far the most stable and lagless of them. Although paul-xxx says this version has no bugs at all, the infamous radio issue isn't fixed yet. All in all, this one is a great piece of work.
Sonybread CM7 SP2(+hotfix) my opinion
GingerDX
I tested: GinTonic and GingerDX
GinTonic v1.3: it's good, no bugs for me, but I felt heavy.
GingerDX v10: Very quickly, the module smartass, spare battery. Bug: wifi reconnect every 3 minutes.
The best ROM is Donut from SE...
lol, I'm kidding. I like MiniCM7 Pro from paul-xxx, GingerDX from D4, SonyBread from paul-xxx and still don't tested slade Gintonic
Im new to this the first one i have installed is MiniCM7 pro v7x and i love it, now even tho i love it im hooked and want to try another lol
I'm using GingerDX for several weeks, but for someone as mobile as me, I think the battery drain issue makes you a little bit.. Err.. how to say? need a backup battery?
gintonic feels too heavy... and i got my phone bricked 3 times in 2 days... cm7 by paul has many little bugs... for me, the gingerdx worked better

One of the biggest dangers of flashing
I use gintonic, tried gingerdx but apps were missing from the market and couldnt find a workaround and no reply from dev so im not going to bother with it although it looks nice

I'm using GinTonic.SE for 4 days now. It's REALLY fast and pretty stable, but I get only 30-34h worth of battery life (I used to get almost 50h with Froyo CM6)...

I know how ya feel, ive only just started modding since finding xda dev forums and ive now tried gingerdx, sonybread and im now using miniCM7 Pro v7+ by paul-xxx had a incoming call problem until the hotfix was released but now I find it the best and most stable by far, even had to do my other halfs mini pro when she seen mine, battery life has doubled too

Can't decide between GingerDX and MiniCM7.
MiniCM7 v6
I have tried paul-xxx's ROMs and I think MiniCM7 v6 is the most stable. I have also tried v7+hotfix but it didn't fix the radio. Also, GPS not working. Waiting for v8!

[Q] Unoriginal custom kernels for Mini Pro, how good are they?

So, these new Kernels. I've waited with installing them until they were more finished and now I was wondering how people think they are compared to the stock one.
Do they contain the same features and do all of them work?
Are they faster?
Are they stable?
Good things, bad things about upgrading?
Was thinking these things would be nice to know for everybody thinking of switching
I guess you should try one out to find out. Ofcourse they are much faster, lighter and efficient than the stock kernel. Since we are using Gingerbread now mostly, these kernels provide better support for them.
If they weren't any different from the stock kernels...why do you think devs would make them? Hope you get the message.

I get the message alright, but since you have a mini and therefore have not tried the x10 mini pro kernels (which are all still quite new), it's not a fact that they are faster, lighter, more efficient or provide better support for Gingerbread.
That's why I asked for people who have tried the x10 mini pro kernels about their experiences with them. I could try it myself, but since that voids the guaranty please respect my wishes to do some research first.
one word, yes. they are better, faster, and smoother. worth doing.
I will put it this way, we had various modules to load. they are now in the kernel itself.
hardware communication is improved, and have a speed difference (very slightly i guess).
Thats all maybe.
i preffer this for mini pro phone : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1256095&page=41
i use it too.. and my phone is like 40-50% faster with custom rom
custom kernel is a lot faster than stock kernel, very responsive.
about the stability is depends, the custom kernel is kind new to all of us and the dev is still developing their custom kernel, so bugs is still expected unless they mentioned it final release.
so the dev also encourage us to test the custom kernel, so if we found bugs and report it back, it will be contributions to the dev to make a better and bugs free kernel
Ive used both and they are great
Zombiepanic fixes the touch bug with the statusbar and stuff
D4kernel is also great but no more updates due to him leaving
Both are very stable. Havent had a random reboot and used D4's since release so ive had a long time of testing
Hope this helped

according to this article there is no specific req... for ics..but it also says that older devices will not run it smoothly....my question is that is our device too old to run ics?? i think we have a fairly decent cpu nd gpu only prob is that our ram is low....

It's not compatible

I disagree with that. Obviously there won't be any official rom for ICS but I'd bet that custom CM roms will be available for this arch. Its only a matter of how smooth and complete they will be. And yea, that is if anyone is left to work on this arch.

have much reason nobodyatall but thanks to your wonderful work our minis have been the best and expecting the prompt updating of minicm7 I'm sure will be the official greetings support your work.
I think if CM gets ready, nAa will be able to make a miniCM
and ur minis are the best smartphones ever XD fun XD
but there good
Why all want 4.0? just because of the number?
we dont even have a extra front cam to use face unlock from ICS, is ridiculous -
I love my mini with MiniCM 2.1.3 Thanks to nAa!
sorry for my bad english

Agreed I think the devs should just make gingerbread into perfection wether its minicm or gingerdx the time will come when ics will be ready to port

if ics is not compatible with our devices then some of the dev's can try to add some new features into their existing rom's.
like the new single shot 3D panorama..

Anyone can transplant miui v5 for our x10?

We can see MIUI V5 for 20 devices will be released recently.
We also have scritch007's cm10 for x10,and even HD2 and Defy will get miui v5.
I like miui v5,so is their any developers will make miui v5 rom for x10i
Sorry for bad English,Thanks!
Thumbs up
Yeah, it would be awesome. :good:
Miui v5 is really slow on 512 mb ram phones... I can't imagine what it is going to be liike on the x10
I'M BATMAN
Please don't joke. Take a look at RAM usage in attachment. X10 would never run this os smooth
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
It is problem with optimization on your phone. If I use CM on Xperia S sometimes get 500Mb used And on same CM on X10 used for example 180Mb
Some times somebody say, that we never get ICS, and now?
I think you're wrong, and no I'm not joking.
If SD swap was used, ram problem might be a bit better
I'M BATMAN
I sold my x10 on January so I don't know how the ics works on this phone right now, but it is probably lagging as hell. Of course some useless apps could be removed and it would make the ROM faster but over 300mb of ram is still too less. It could boot up but You weren't able to use it everyday anyway.
