Scrolling Launcher Widget? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

Someone has got to have made this but I can't seem to find it. I'm using a "hubs" layout (one screen for social media, one for productivity etc) and I'd like to essentially have a horizontally scrollable launcher widget on each screen with apps that make sense for that hub.
Currently using simi folder widget which is cool, but I'd prefer the launcher bar that is activated by clicking on the folder to live in a widget right on the home screen.
Could anybody point me to a widget app like this? I'm pretty sure I saw a video where someone had this but didn't see details on what they were using. Thanks!
Edit: sorry if this would have been better posted in themes and apps. Please move if necessary.

If I'm understanding you then what you're looking for is a dock that can display icons that are specific to the current page? Something close would be Nova launcher which provides a scrollable dock. If you haven't tried it, I highly recommend it!

Thanks, I'm currently using Apex and I really like it. I don't want just 1 dock (no matter how many pages on it you can scroll through). I want a different set of apps in a horizontally scrolling launcher bar widget. Then I could put an instance of this widget on each of my homescreens with different apps in each one. Then when I swipe from my "Office" homescreen to my "Photo" or "Video" homescreens this "launcher" widget has the appropriate apps for that hub. Hopefully that makes sense.
Like I said, simi folder widget is pretty good for this kind of setup, but I thought there might be a better solution out there.

[Q] Is there an App Drawer Transition Mod?

hi,
been looking around for some way to change the app drawer transitions from the fly-in/fly-out icon style. i'd be curious to see anything else, really.
it seems that these modifications are often part of a home screen app so is there a decent home screen app that does this? i'm currently using ADW (and like it a lot) so something similar would be great.
thanks.
Launcher Pro has a customizable app drawer. I use the 3D drawer, it looks incredible. You might give it a try.
thanks, i'll give it a try.
ADW Launcher has features in there too, you just need to find it.
I know. I changed the drawer from horizontal to vertical and disabled animations, simply because the only animation is the zoom / fly-in effect. other than that, i didn't see too much that affected the transitions.

CM7 with scrollable widgets?

I am trying to get away from sense for obvious reasons. I'm only missing the friendstream, news, twitter scrollable widgets. Shopping revealed Pure Messenger/News widget as a viable option. Although to be useful to me it needs to be scrollable.
-Running CM7 nightlies #130
-ADW Launcher stock with CM7
-Verizon Droid Incredible 2
-Rooted, obviously.
Pure Messenger states that ADW is supported, but scrollable widgets must be enabled and it isn't currently. I find no setting for scrollable widget enable and the documentation for this version (latest) doesn't list it. However a previous version had a setting from what I find online. Maybe the non CM7 version?
Anyone have a solution for pure messenger or alternative app? I'm certain many people running CM7 desire these widgets so there must be a solution but a search didn't reveal anything within 6 months.
Note: I was having this same issue with other phones, and other launchers [read: go launcher, launcher pro], so this should apply to everyone. Including me when I buy the Galaxy Nexus upon release.

I love colorize widgets and android pro widgets (both very similar and have a nice timeline feature with the paid versions) adw does support scrolling widgets but I'm not sure if you need the ex version for that(that's the version I have) I also don't see a setting for it but both my colorize widgets and android pro widgets scroll automatically

I gave up on the Pure Widgets and went with Colorize. Scrolling works fine and I got the paid version and it looks really nice.
I thought the Pure Widgets were the most popular which would lead to less bugs and better support but obviously not.
Now the only problem is Colorize doesn't have a RSS feed selector or news widget like sense but I think I can get around it with customizing Google RSS feeds.
Thanks for the reply.

Ok, somebody should explain the need for scrollable widgets, or indeed most widgets, to me.
You swipe homescreens to get to the one you want, e.g Calender, Twitter.. and then you scroll it to find what you want etc...
Why not just open the Twitter or Calender app instead?
This sums up my pet peave with Android really. So much bloat. So much unnecessary carp. Why do one thing well when you can do it three different ways, badly.
I'm still not sold on the idea of multiple homescreens, in fact i'm as perplexed by the notion now as i was three years ago. Android has an app drawer. It has shortcuts for every app within. Open app drawer, select shortcut, use app! Why would i need shortcuts all over my homescreen?
And while i'm busy derailing the thread with my rant, what's with the honking great clocks and weather on the homescreens? There's a clock in the status bar and the weather is right outside. Use a window!
Obviously i'm in the minority here so i'll just crawl quietly back into my minimalistic hole. Good to get it off the chest though!

Got scrollable widgets to work on ADWLauncherEx/ICS (sort of)

It's easy:
1. Pinch to get the home screen previews.
2. Select and return to the screen where the scrollable widget is located.
3. Immediately use the scrollable widget. (Hey it's scrolling!)
4. After you launch an app, tap the screen outside the widget, or change screens, it will stop working again.
5. In which case just rinse and repeat.
Until AnderWeb fixes the damn thing this will have to do. Think of it as a "safety lock" for scrollable widgets.
It's easier - use two fingers to scroll widgets.

Wasn't working for me...but then I rebooted and the two-finger trick seems to work now! Weird. Thanks!
Once the widget starts scrolling (via either the pinch preview or the two-finger method), it will keep on scrolling with one or two fingers until you do something outside the widget.
APW widgets from the market scroll great without a secondary launcher.

True, but the point is to use the scrollable widgets we already like. APW widgets are ok, but for widgets like the CNN widget there isn't any APW substitute. The point here is that adw-ex needs to be updated so that scrollable widgets work.
Unfortunately the only launcher that will do the HUBS layout properly is ADW-ex, which makes this so damned frustrating.

Need a new launcher...

Posted this on Rootz as well but I wanted to ask here.
My main wants are:
Ability to hide bottom dock and Notification bar and use gestures to bring them back. Would be nice to utilize all that wonderful screen landscape.
Use my ADW and LP icon packs if possible.
Easy to use shortcuts for moving between screens along with smooth transitions when doing so.
Long press icons to change icon image.
Hi-res display
Resizeable widgets
Keep in memory setting that works well and/or the ability to set custom wallpaper dimensions. It's a pain in the butt to have to reset my wallpapers with Wizardrii because LP got booted from memory and had ot restart.
Set non-scrolling wallpapers.
Do both Apex and Nova have all of these features? Guess I could consider ADW too. Is there one you would recommend over the other? Thanks in advance.
All the features that you want are there in apex dude.. Just try it out..
Icon packs I'm not very sure but definitely sure about the other features

I've used both Apex and Nova, and I guess it's just a personal preference as they at least seem to be quite similar. They're both based on the stock launcher in ICS / JB, and basically have the same features. Only differences I noticed were very specific, but feature-wise they're quite similar. You should just try them out.
I prefer Apex though, if you wondered.

Is there a way to make any widget persistent?

I use the DuckDuckGo widget for my searches as opposed to Google and would really love to be able to make it persistent like the Google search bar can be. I'm using Nova at the moment and it allows me to set Google as persistent if I want but it doesn't allow just any widget to be persistent, only the Google search.
If there are other launchers out there that show persistent widgets of your choosing please do tell me, if not if there is a way to make it happen is love to know!

i m also looking for such feature...
Why not just add the widget to the top of every page? It's not as nice, but I don't think there are launchers that support that since it's not nearly as popular

Well the reason I don't do that is because it doesn't look right, for some reason making the widget persistent doesn't look the same as adding a widget to every page. I don't know how to really explain it. Try using a fullscreen widget like Business Calendars 5x5 widget, and stretch it to whatever you have your grid set to, and then enable the persistent search bar. Take a screenshot and then get rid of the persistent search bar and just add one by hand and take a screenshot. They look different, almost like the persistent search bar doesnt take up the phone width of the grid like a regular widget does.
Also persistent widgets dont move the other things on your homescreens doen as far as having to take up another grid does.
Ive seen Overlay but that doesnt really do what i am trying to do, it just allows a floating widget over your screen and floats it on top of what is already there. I am looking for either a launcher or a mod that allows me to change which widget I use as the persistent widget.
