[Q] Any app to let others know that I'm not on Call Waiting? - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

What I want is a bit complicated. But I'm sure there might be an app which can do it. I've enabled call waiting in my Android. However, I don't wanna know the person on my other end to know I'm talking with someone else. What I want is, the other caller should get the normal ringing tone while I'm already talking to other person. I've seen it in some cheap Samsung phones (2/3/4 years back).
I want that none knows while I'm talking. If I turn off call waiting, the other call will not be able to call me. The call will not go to the ringing process. I want one hear the ringing tone as if I'm talking to nobody. ANy app?

I believe this has nothing to do with your phone or OS, but is rather handled by your operator. Therefore no app would help with this.
Not to mention this is quite a weird request... But to each their own.

My friend & I run the same carrier. He has this feature in his 6 years old Samsung but I don't have it!

OK, my bad then. In that case I don't know what to recommend. Wait for someone else to chime in.

Yeah! I really hope so!

[Q] Auto reject with NO missed call notification?

So a debt collector with the wrong number has been calling my cell phone for the past few weeks. I set up Auto reject for any unknown numbers, but I still get a missed call notification.
Back when I had my G1, I had a similar problem with mistaken identity. After setting up Auto reject on it, it was as if they had never called. Is there any way to achieve the same effect on my Vibrant?
Or to attack it at the root, does anyone have a secret to success with getting these walking talking pieces of **** to stop calling me? If I even ask whos calling they hang up on me. You would think if they actually cared about collecting a debt, theyd have a better system in place for fact checking. There should be an office where you can show your I.D to be expunged from their records. I am probably way more enraged than I should be...but I cant stand these people.
Not sure about the auto reject but tell them you wish to settle the debt(i know its mot you, hang tight) but that you need the settlement offer on physical paper. this will force them to mail a letter with company information on it. From there you at least know their main office number and who the a-holes are.

I do want to know who they are so that I might actually call the building and talk to someone who wont hang up on me, but the last thing I want is to give them information on me that they don't already have. 99.9% of the time, they think you're lying, so any extra info just gives them a new medium to harass me through.

[Q] Help! Just got HTC Evo 3D and I can't hear anything

maybe someone can help me. im used to having a blackberry however i got htc evo 3d today and making or receiving calls is hell. i can't hear anyone.
and evo won't sync my contacts from gmail into the contact address book on the phone.
i am new to this phone so please explain what am i doing wrong and better yet what can i do to improve these before going insane.
thank u
The first thing that I would check is to make sure that your phone actually programmed. Next log into your gmail account online and make sure that your contacts are in my contacts and not other contacts. If they are on your phone, but not in your gmail, then what I would recommend that you do is export the contacts up to the memory card, and then re-import them to the gmail account. They will sync from there. As far as the no sound thing, take it to a full service store and have them check it out. From there, depending on where you got it, you might need to go back to the original place of purchase and have it exchanged.

If you literally cannot hear anyone, take it to have it swapped out.
If you can hear people but it is very hard to hear try the hearing aids setting, I believe under the call menu in settings.
I did figure out how to get gmail contacts synced. thank god.
The hearing is just very very weak. Ive been reading that this is one major problem with evo 3d and that they haven't fixed the bug yet. Welllll how am I supposed to work on this phone if it sounds like the people im talking to are 100000000 miles away. even speaker is just very weak.
i did hear someone say theres a way to change the voice coding by bypassing through with some msl code. i called sprint and they refused to provide me the code saying that for security purposes they do not provide this code. i take it they dont want their phones unlocked so that we purchase all of their apps. just like the iphone. however i know there are ways to get the code but im not tech savvy and have no idea how to do this.
anyone? with any help i would really appreciate it.
ughhhh its really hard going from a blackberry to an android. every day is a learning experience.

You can get MSL by downloading the MSL app from the market if you have root.

Your welcome.

I will definitely read over the guide this weekend and hopefully won't mess anything up in my phone. :/
So when they say root the phone, is that the same thing as unlocking it so you can download free apps etc?
Thanks

[Q] Help my phone calls keep getting hijacked

Okay this seems very movie like but here it goes.
So every since this month of march when someone calls me somebody will completely hijack the call and block the person trying to reach me. Usually it is a guy who is just laughs or someone giving me a bogus name and then I hang up. They have been harassing me. I hate it. I want to just develop an app or find one and monitor my call traffic to see where it is being interrupted. Does anyone have any info on this issue or how to fix it. I am a computer nerd so I would be able to follow complex directions. Maybe I should just answer my phone with a Peter Griffin soundboard and mess with him. lol
Sounds to me like the guy has your WAN and cloned it on his phone. Is yours a refurbished by chance?
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
No it is not. This is really freaking me out.
your best bet is contact your service provider as there is really no way for you to design an app that can "sniff" your phone calls and see if someone has intercepted your calls. your provider can however look into that and give you any information related to it, including if someone else is possibly using your ESN and cloning it on their phone, but i don't think that both phones can really be active at the same time anymore, i know it used to work, but not sure anymore. sounds like possibly your number or the route to your phone is somehow messed up at the cell tower or the datacenter handling the phone traffic. again, best bet is to call your provider and alert them of what's happening.
do you happen to have bluetooth enabled on your phone? perhaps someone nearby (i guess they have to be within 30 feet of your phone) has connected to it that way and could possibly be messing with you? that's about all i can really think of, hope it helps!

[Q] What practical use do you see for S-Voice?

What practical use do you see for S-Voice besides waking up phone & ask for weather?
Let's discuss that here, so we could build our experience of possible use ways of S-Voice for the time when we'll get our hands on the phone
I don't see much practical use except maybe for apple fanboys...
Besides in a car I find voice controls hardly practical and sometimes obnoxious.

It doesn't look very stylish to type silently on your phone while waiting in line at Starbucks. So have a conversation with your phone while you wait in line. The Galaxy S3 is just like an old friend who is ready to strike up a conversation with you. All you have to do is say "Hi Galaxy!"
You can shout obscenity at it while you're pissed off at work. There is a market for anger management apps.
LOL, i thought of real usage suggestions, not laughs

^^^That ^^^ but otherwise I don't think I'm going to use it much. I don't particularly feel the need to have a conversation with my phone.

The SGS2 is no fun to talk with because it is just a phone..
But the Galaxy S3 is a different story. She is natural and human. She knows when I sleep. She watches me every moment of the day. She always knows what I want next.
I think it depends what its capable of. Can you ask it to do calculations? can you ask it to create a shopping list? can you ask it to play a certain song? or could you ask it to read out a text message, ask it to call someone.

also really curious of how much it is capable of
The key will be extending it to other apps unlike the POS that is Siri which only works with Apple apps. E.g. Can I use SVoice to send messages or make calls using custom dialed or SMS.
I hope to be a greek version otherwise it is useless for me
I have uninstalled vlingo. Google voice search is handy, when I search for something but don't know how to spell it.
Svoice could be useful while driving in my car to trigger a phone call.

I see it working with my Bluetooth in my car. I get in the car forget to turn on Bluetooth and just say hi galaxy turn on Bluetooth . And I'm all ready to receive calls and my music starts to play automatically.
Other then that no use at all. Im from Australia so it probably won't even understand me, I don't care don't want the phone for that may freeze it lol

Creepy... Perhaps it will delete your contacts in anger if you stop looking at it when it talks with you.

yes voice apps are useless if they dont understand your own language. i use my phone in english so phone part may not be important but cant have my all frinds have english names to start a voice call
I'm on the road a lot for work, and listen a LOT of music. Driving and scrolling through tracks can be a bit of a hazard sometimes, so I'm really hoping I can just tell my phone to play a track or album and it does it.
That alone would be a selling point for me.

Yes, I want this too...
even if it doesn't cone built into the phone, shouldn't we be able to find a mod for it?

if there is going to be a gps reminder thingy ill be extremely happy. nothing like pulling into walmart and having your phone remind you to get the toilet paper you have desperately been needing for a couple days. it can be quite the cleansing experience.
i am also wondering if they are going to throw in the sheep reference towards apple users. i know its petty, but if i could get the phone to make fun of some of the tree huggers that hang out in starbucks... i might get a laugh and it would make my purchase of the phone all the more worth it.
If it's extensible enough so other apps can use it them it may be really useful. Google Voice hasn't done this. e.g. 'forward this email to my Tennis group and upload all attachments to Dropbox'. Or 'Play TuneIn channel ABC'. Complex voice commands could really be useful. We know Siri is nothing more than a simple keyword recognition engine so I'm hoping Samsung has done something better.
Agree, until we know what its capabilities are there is no way to make a guess at how useful it might be.

Call recording app?

I am currently going through a process of getting a restraining order on a girl that has made threats against my family, my girlfriend, etc. And I need a call recorder in case she calls me. (The county attorney has already said that texts cannot be used. As anyone can pick up a phone and act like her.) I am rooted and I have Xposed installed on the GPE. Thanks in advance!

I've used this one. It worked great

Did the attorney say its okay to record the calls? Laws may vary by locality. But my understanding in many places its not legal to record a phone call unless the other party is informed you are doing so.
You might already be aware of the legalities. But just wanted to raise the question, in the event you were not.
