HELP, my S3 keeps rebooting after startup, cant wipe data/factory reset from CWM also - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Please give me some help guys,
After installing an app from a torrent (dont know if its related but it happened after installing and opening it) my phone keeps restarting every time, it boots up normally but after just about 5 seconds in the home screen it reboots again. I need to pull out battery to get it stop rebooting.
I've entered in CWM, but cant wipe data/factory reset, when I choose that option it appears "wipping /data" and it just reboots again. I cant also format /data from advanced options. Also, when /data is mounted I cant unmount it also from advanced options. Can wipe cache and dalvik cache but not data. Cant use the phone!
I have Omega v36 with superSU and CWM touch in it. How can I solve this?

Happened to me once also. Idk which app you installed but I had installed privacy guard and it resulted in a boot loop. The 5 seconds it gives you at start, try to go in settings then applications and uninstall the app which caused this. Took 15 minutes of me trying and I lucked out and uninstalled it. Phone been fine after that

I've tried, but as soon as I hit the "unninstall" the phone reboots. I guess trying to interact with something in /data makes it reboot.

App + torrent = probable malware .
Flash stock rom via Odin is the first step .

flash latest i9300 stock rom via odin and after f-reset.find rom here
http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3

Try safe mode.
Safe mode will boot only stock apps, apps which were installed by ROM.

Well, things have gone worst, i've entered in safe mode and choose factory reset from settings, now the phone keeps rebooting, show the green robot of factory reset for 2 seconds and then reboots again. Now cant even get in the samsung logo neither in recovery or download mode.
Now, is there a solution for this? Have removed the battery for about 5 minuts but it stays the same.

Thanks, I've solved the problem!

I had the same problem but finally fixed because this thread ,thank god
My problem fixed by :
1- enter download mode - connect ur phone to pc via original usb cable , open odin
2- flash The Stock recovery with Odin 3.4 in PDA button
3- Enter your stock recovery to wipe everything " data / cache/ dalvik " .
4- now enter again download mode and connect the phone again to pc .
5- flash the Stock Rom through PDA button and leave all checks as it is
6- after finishing it will reboot by it self to find your phone back to life again
7- Enjoy

I am going crazy!

I am having this same problem with my ACE 3 Duos, and it is DRIVING ME NUTS!
I searched all over the internet
- It starts up normally then reboots within 2 - 4 seconds
- I managed to let it start on SAFE MODE it didn't work! still rebooting!
- I wiped the cache and it didn't work
- I am leaving the Factory Reset as a last option ((cause I didn't back up my data and I have bad experience with back ups))
- much important info on my phone ((about my work)) and don't wanna lose that
- I think I can save it cause it is booting normally then something goes wrong

[Q] Galaxy S2 - Unable to start/use.

Please help,
After amateurish software updating, my phone SGS2 is out of order:
1) When turning phone on: "Downloading. Do not turn off target!!". But the phone is doing nothing.
2) All the memories are empty, I guess.
3) No USB-connection with PC (or Kies).
Do I have any possibilities to make operating system work (or get new one) on my own?
Thousands of thanks!
You need Odin, and some reading over in Intratech's firmware thread, it's in the original development sub forum

Do you mean phone turns on to downloading mode or you are putting the phone in downloading mode yourself .
2) All the memories are empty, I guess.
Does not make sense
3) No USB-connection with PC (or Kies).
Reinstall Kies .
Can you get to recovery mode

I emptied them my self, thinking it would help.

Requires usually a factory reset or reinstall of firmware to fix .

I'm not able to set factory reset via CWM. It gives only change to delete all user data.
What das Flash full stock rom via Odin mean, and how do I know, is it still possible with my phone?
I'd need Step by step -introduction, cause I don't really know, what I'm doing.
How do I know, is there even anything left to do with my phone system?
Thanks, ejj, about the link. I checked it, but didn't understand which part of it joins to my situation :|
re-install Kies application to get the USB working again. You may have to uninstall the driver from windows first before re-installing kies.
Next, search this thread and download the Odin application and the appropriate stock ROM for your phone and follow installation instructions

plz help. what should i do?
I even flashed the ROM back with odin but the problem still persist
Factory reset Flash a stock rom via Odin .
Next step try root and format system cache data preload .
ROOT

Fails then its a service centre job

Here's what I did when I got the same issue:
1. I booted into Clockwork recovery. Once there I wiped everything incl. "Dalvik Cache" and "Battery Stats" in advanced menu.
Manually formated every step in "Mounts and Storage" menu (EXCEPT FOR SDCARD of course!). Even tho that step might not be necessary
2. Did a factory reset.
3. Removed SD-card and put it in my putor. Then copied a ROM to the card.
4. Booted into download mode (hold Volume down + Home + Power buttton) and flashed a kernel with Odin.
5. Booted into Clockwork recovery and installed ROM from zip.
This worked like a Clockwork for me, No guarantees from me tho!

[Q] Stuck at boot after upgrade Revolution HD

Hey guys,
I just upgraded to Revolution HD 32.0 (coming from 31.0).
Here's what i did.
Boot into recovery.
Clear cache+dalvic-cache.
Install zip from sd-card (select revolution hd 32.0)
Started Aroma installer, left everything pretty much default, just removed some of the samsung junk.
After the install was finished i cleared the cache again and rebooted the device.
It started with the start up logo and after a minute or so "Android upgrading..." with the applications counting.
After that it shows "Finishing boot"
Then nothing, it stays at that for like 5 minutes, then reboots and stays stuck at the samsung logo.
So i decided to boot into recovery, whipe caches and fix permissions and reboot again.
Same thing happened as before.
So i wanted to do a full clean install of the rom, wiping all userdata.
Surprise! Can't get into recovery or download mode anymore.
Took out battery for a few minutes and put it back in.
Still can't access download mode or recovery with vol+menu+pwr...
Does anyone know what's going on, or better, how i can possibly fix this?
I have no idea how to access my device now to make changes...
Thanks a lot!
If you can't get into bootloader with vol down, home and power button then you have a brick, service centre repair required.
Worth trying a USB repair jig to get download before paying for a repair .

[Q] i9300 keep rebooting and never turn on

Hi everyone.
I have a i9300 and it is stuck in rebooting.
Power key is ok.
I can get it to download mode or recovery mode.
I can wipe cache and partition but nothing change, it keeps rebooting.
I cant use odin because odin didn't see the phone,
I think USB debugging wasn't on. But I cant find a way to open it without turning on.
I am looking for possibilities and solution for 2 days and I cant find any. Please help me.
bootloop
It seems you are stuck in a boot loop. Try clearing the cache & perform a full factory wipe. Then reboot your device.
Hope that helps.

I both try 4.1.2 (with odin) and 4.3 (with octopus) but it keeps rebooting.
I also use octopus box to flash and repair efs.

If you've cleared the partition structure then you've turned a possible soft brick into a hard brick, you'll need a new motherboard now.
Try flashing the rescue firmware, from the thread in general, but I wouldn't hold out any hope.

same problem but worse please help
HI guys i have exactly the same problem but my bootloop was caused by installing recovery through the cwm app and then rebooting to recovery through the app. i rebooted to recovery with an app before and it caused this aswell ...however back then my volume down button was working. i fixed it last time by going into download mode and flashing philz recovery however i cant enter download mode or recovery or boot into system.
PS: my phone doesnt boot into recovery it comes up with the samsung galaxy s3 gt 19300 logo then it comes up with the cwm recovery icon in the middle of my screen and 'clockwordmod recovery v6.0.6.4' at the bottom of the screen then restarts itself.
i dont know what to try i have looked around, didnt want to create a new thread just wanted to find out if anyone has any idea of what i can do except for buying a new volume down button thats my last resort apprently its £35 to fix
easy way to fill up you thanks meter guys as any sort of input and advice is extremely appreciated.
alphadavid99 you fried your lcd when you flashed cwm made for note in the other thread.
Hi i have the issue... I am able to get in Recovery and Download Mode.
While in recovery i had formatted the whole internal memory and tried flashing about three AOSP ROMs (Formatting each time before Flashing) but the only result was the endless boot up screen (not boot loop).
Then i tried flashing a sammy ROM and it worked...
Could someone tell me why am I able to flash Sammy ROM but not AOSP (such as ARCHIDROID & SLIMBEAN).
My Model is GT-i9300
Current Modem - XXUGMK6
Current ROM - S4 Revolution ROM (TM)
Thanks in advance for your time if someone has any suggestions

Ever see a factory data reset not wipe a device?

My mom has this old Galaxy Tab 3 that started randomly rebboting on her. She asked me to look at it.
When you turn it on it boots up to the home screen, and after about 10 seconds it reboots. I booted the tablet into safe mode thinking it's an app she installed. Safe mode lasted a little longer maybe 30 seconds before it rebooted. So I booted into recovery mode, and wiped the cache, and rebooted back into safe mode. Still rebooted after 30 seconds or so. So now I tried wiping the tablet, let's start fresh. First I tried erasing it from the settings menu when the tablet is running. No luck will not erase. So now I tried to wipe it using recovery mode. Recovery mode mode claims facotey reset successful. I rebooted the tablet and my mom's email is still set up. So I went back into recovery mode and wiped the tablet doing a full factory reset 3 times in a row before rebooting and EVERYTHING is still there. Has anyone ever seen this before? Is this a problem with the flash memory perhaps? Maybe the main board? Any advice on what's going on or how to erase this would be appreciated.

This is very weird. So,Let me get this straight. You tried to wipe the tablet and it doesn't wipe.Well, when In recovery mode the recovery doesn't care if there is a loop a symlink or anything that will have any other function other than to exist. It will remove it without a problem.I would say Try doing it from custom recovery otherwise it's not-software relatef.
