[Q] Can't mount cache/recovery? - Galaxy Ace S5830i Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all.
I had Jelly BlastROM on my GT-S5830i and I wanted to install Simplicity 3.5.
I went back to the stock rom (with Odin) and then I did the process of install, but something was wrong because it was locked in the boot screen.
When I used Odin again to return to the stock rom, the following error appeared in recovery (both, e3 and CWM) screen: "can not mount cache recovery". If I go to "mount and recovery" and try to "mount cache", recovery reports me: "error mounting cache" or something similar...
Since then, I can't flash any custom rom. They always block in boot screen. I can only install the stock rom via Odin.
Any solution? I saw other forums answers but I didn´t find the solution...
(Now appearing: "multi csc")
Thanks all and excuse me my English. :fingers-crossed:

[Q] How to upgrade from cyanogenMod fxp 044 to fxp 047

I am currently running cyanogenMod 7.1 fxp 044 in my X10i, and have problems to upgrade to fxp 047. This is what I have done:
I downloaded the fxp 047 package and put the update-cm-7.2.0-RC0-es209ra-KANG-signed.zip in sdcard.
then I booted the phone into xrecovery mode, select install custom zip form sdcard
and I got error messege saying that installation aborted with a long string of code ended with "error in...zip (status 7)".
I though the problem may be the locked bootloader, so I followed the post by 9Lukas5, but I got stuck already at step 2! After I downgraded the kernel, I plugged in the phone to the computer, but the flashtool kept saying the phone didnt turn on the usb debugging mode, although the debugging is ON already...
any idea? Any Help is appreciated!

First, I dont know if you need a unlocked bootloader..
2nd, you have to flash the rom with cwm recovery

thank you for your answer
but why cwm recovery? is Xrecovery not compatible with cyanogenMod rom?
I think all the new cyanogenmod developments are happening under CWM recovery only. Not sure about the xrecovery rom though. But I guess CWM offer better options. As we can directly reboot to recovery!

I actually installed my previous cyanogenmod rom 7.1 using Xrecovery, but gonna try CWM recovery and hope it works!

[Solved] Unable to install any custom ROM

Hi there Guys, i recently upgraded from my old galaxy to the new Galaxy S2. I've got CWM (something called Android System Recovery 3e), and its also rooted.
However, I am not able to flash any custom rom... I tried several ROMs, but none works. The error code i get is:
E:signature verification failed
install_package = (2)
Installation aborted

Also, while getting into the Recovery thing, i noticed in one of the line, it shows:
Can't access to '/system/csc/ATT/system/'

I am not sure if thts something to look into.
I did a search through all the forums... but was not able to find any solution. I tried going back to stock rom and then trying it again.. however, it still not worked. Getting the same error msg.
Can anyone help me out....???
I am too desperate to move to a custom ROM.
Rite now I am at:
Android 2.3.4
Baseband: I777UCKH7
Kernel: 2.6.35.7
I suggest you go and read the sticky at the top of this board titled
ATTENTION: AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II General Guide/Walkthrough/FAQ/hints and tips
and the links posted therein thoroughly then if your still having problems come back
I've done everything... I've gone through the stickies.
I tried getting back to stock rom, rooting it again, not using the ROM Manager, everything.
But everytime i get the same error.

It is not enough to just have root. Have you installed a "customize kernel with CWM?" It is step 3 (a, b, or c):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1311081
If so, which kernel did you flash. 3a worked will for me using Entropy's DD:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1289460
If using Mobile odin, just download the .tar option from Entropy's thread. Once that kernel is installed, then you can flash pretty much whatever you want.
christ, another one?

Be aware that Recovery 3e is NOT CWM, but rather it is the stock recovery tool that the phone ships with. You first need to flash a kernel that says "CWM" in the title. I recommend Entropy's Daily Drivers (link 2 posts above) to start with, since they are very stable, and you can at that point flash other kernels or ROMS.
you need to read, read and re-read before you break your phone

I've solved my issue. All I had to do was toggle the signature verification option. I disabled it and tried installing... and it worked fine.
Really really thanks for bearing one more newbie

Revert From CM10.1 ROM to Stock ROM for P7500

Before this i'm using Infamous AOKP for my Galaxy Tab 10.1 (link). Then today i want to revert back to ICS stock ROM because i want to give my tab to my younger brother. So, i doing what usually i do (Reboot to recovery , then wipe data, dalvik, cache) to flash any ROM. For your information, Tab 10.1 is not my first Android device and i already used alot of Android device like Nexus S, HTC One X, One V, Galaxy Note, and Galaxy S2. So, rooting and flashing im quite understand about it.. But for Tab 10.1, i download stock ICS ROM from Sammobile.com the extract the .zip file to get the md5 file.. When i doing flashing on Odin v3.18 it stuck at flashing modem.img. For first time i think stock rom i been download is corrupted.. So i download it back. After second time downloading finish, i doing the same thing the it still stuck at modem.img... So i take a look into md5 file that i download it.. it only have .img file (refer pic below.). the i compare to SGS2 stock ROM it seem something missing.. Is this only got in Galaxy Tab 10.1 (P7500) Stock ICS) ROM or it already corrupt...

No boot, no recovery

Hi,
I have a problem with the S2 of a friend, it doesn't boot anymore, it's stuck at the "Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-i9100"-Screen right after turning it on, no boot-animation.
Recovery doesn't work but download-Mode does so it's easy to just reflash Android via Odin. I don't know why that is, she said she powered it off to go to sleep and when she picked the phone on the next day it wouldn't boot.
She has the stock Samsung 4.1.2 software without root or custom recovery (so 100% stock)
The problem is that there are many photos and text messages (specifically: WhatsApp) on the internal memory, losing them is definetly not an option!
I have two questions:
First, will reflashing a stock-firmware wipe the internal memory where all the appdata and the photos are?
And if so, can I just flash a custom recovery and back the files up somehow? And which recovery would that be and how do I back up?
Any help would be highly appreciated, thanks for your time and help!
Id flash say philz kernel then go to recovery and flash a custom rom. Say pacman as a custom rom but thats a random rom im thinking of.

Will flashing a custom ROM delete the files?
I'll flash SlimBean because I installed that for many friends and they are all happy.
Is there a custom recovery included with the philz kernel?
No it wont delete as long as you dont format sd cards. Philz is a way to get cwm bk on your phone with odin.so put a custom rom on ext sd with pc put it in the phone then flash philz with odin then boot phone to recovery then flash custom rom from ext sd. Make sure you format data ,system ,cache before you flash for no boot problems
Okay great thanks! She'll come here on sunday, I'll then tell you if it worked
Oi oi it will work no problem lol

Okay I failed, I put the Kernel-File in Odin but in Bootloader, not in PDA -.- Hard brick.
well now my question is if a JTAG-Procedure will delete any of the pictures of if it only writes to the bootloader-space.
Omg how/why did you do that??
I thought "It has something to do with CWM so you have to flash it with "Bootloader" -.-
Yeah, that's why the search button was invented, by Common Sense I think.

That still doesn't answer my question.
"my question is if a JTAG-Procedure will delete any of the pictures of if it only writes to the bootloader-space."
That's exactly what it does (among other things).

Is there any way of saving the files?
No not now

Well,
Try to go in download mode. And do flash your stock rom via odin. I know that. I was currently in that problem. I just solved it past few minutes ago I also install a rom for my S6102 but the rom is for only S5360. And my screen stucks in white.
