Help - UCLE5_stock_rooted problem - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

After issues with the stock 4.0.3 to 4.0.4 upgrade, I wanted to root my ATT Samsung Galaxy S2.
I used Odin and UCLE5_Stock_Rooted.tar as suggested on the forum. I did not do a factory wipe- someone said I would not need to since ICS was on it.
Now when it boots I get errors: Logs Provider stopped, android.process.acore stopped, avrcp.service.samsung stopped
I can't access phone apps, call, etc.
When I hold vol +- and power, it comes up Android System Recovery <3e> ... it doesn't say ClockWork Recovery.
I'm not sure what direction to go now. Any help is appreciated.

First thing. Why does the thread title say UNLE5 ?. Second thing, yes you would need a factory reset wipe to fix your errors popping up. But that brings us to the third thing, you flashed a stock image of UCLE5 4.0.3. Which obviously has the stock 3e recovery in it, as you must know our kernels come with recovery installed and when you flashed that stock image it flashed the stock kernel that comes with 4.0.3 . Which takes us back to your factory reset/data wipe you need to do. You are now on stock ics kernel, which has been confirmed to have the EMMC brick bug. Which is just a fancy way of saying that if you do a factory reset/data wipe when on this kernel, it could hard brick your device. So if you want to stay stock with everything, just flash a custom kernel(siyah.tar file is easy to find) with Odin, then reboot into recovery and do a full wipe. Then simply flash your UCLE5 image again with Odin and you're good to go. But I would suggest just using a custom kernel and getting off the stock kernel, don't want to accidentally forget and brick your device.

Thanks- sorry about the typo in the title... I meant UCLE5. I was able to get rid of the errors by clearing the data on those items in the application manager. Thanks for the info on the custom kernel... I wasn't sure which to use for 4.0.3.

No ROM Booting

So i managed to solve the problem that i had.
When i said that i could flash only the stock one, i was flashing XXKI3 as one file after each failed attempt to flash a custom one.
So i tried and flashed another stock rom, again as 1 file. after the flash was done the phone again stucked at first screen wit the triangle.
After that i thought that something was really messed up in the phone and flashed again XXKI3 with PIT and multiple files and offcourse RE-Partition.
After that flash a stock rom with 1 file and modified bootloader from Intratech's thread, this way you can also reset the binary caunter with a jig (can find many on ebay).
After finish flashing and first boot
root with CF kernel and flash any custom rom. It worked as it should. Now i am on a custom rom and trying to see which one suits me best.
Thank Jiganet for some may be needed modified bootloader which is recommended so you can reset binary counter.
Everyone tha nk you for your suggestions and help.
any rom that i install is not getting beyond the bootlogo. i had xxki3 stock with cf-root xxki3 kernel.
every install i make full wipe on everything before(data, cache, dalvik).
any body any idea?
only stock rom working.
The first boot takes some time. Are you waiting that long?

1. Enter Clockworkmod recovery
1a. Do a Backup (not a must, but i suggest) from the cwm recovery of your current rom/settings.
2. Wipe Data/Cache Factory reset
3. Flash the new rom you want
4. Again (not needed but well..) Wipe Data/Cache Factory Reset
5. Wipe Cache
6. Advanced -> Wipe Dalvik Cache (this is why you get bootloops)
7. Reboot to system
Wait 4-5 minutes and you will have your new, shiny working rom.
Hope it helps, cheers

Mh strange, the strange is.. with the stock rom is working.
Looks like your phone dosnt like the rom you are flashing so the quesion now is:
Are you sure, you are flashing a rom your phone can read? I know the i9100G and the AT&T versions cant be flashed with the standard (i9100) S2 roms (there is a specific thread i think here on xda for those versions)
mine is an unbranded i9100 from Greece. i am flashing the correct roms.

next time when u flash try formatting system.
In CWM >mounts and storage> format system
Please state detailed steps you did when flashing a ROM and what kind of ROM.. That will help alot on trouble shooting your problem.

every body read first post managed to solve this.
Hi was there a solution to this problem as I seem to get it with EVERY rom I try to install from zip?
Hi to all, this is my first Post and this is my First Android I come from an iPhone 2G, iPhone 3g, iPhone 3GS and my last phone was an iPhone 4!!! now I'm extremely happy with my new SGS2!!!
I have been searching a lot!!! for a solution for this flash loop issue,
1 - I have flash to a stock 2.3.5 KI3 samfirmware,
2- then I have Odin>PDA>cf-root-KI3-4.2.tar to root my phone.
3 - After that I downloaded 3 custom roms, DarkyROM2_KI3, VillainROM-3.0.0-signed and Cyanogen cm_galaxys2_full-112. put them on my root internal sdcard.
4 - booted to ClockworkMod Recovery menu.
5 - Wipe Data/Factory Reset
6 - Wipe Partition Cache.
7 - Install Zip from sdcard.
and every thing seems ok, but when i restart, it stays on the boot loop, even if i manage to enter to CWM Recovery menu it says that E: Can't Mount ... bla bla bla
I had been trying to put a custom rom so much that my binary counter is now on 10
I'm going to try what you wrote on the first post!
Restore to stock KI3 firmware using pit file and repartition.
after that install the cf-root kernel. Restart and try to install any custom firmware.
Hope it works
Not it did not work, Maybe the problem was Wipe Partition cache after installing new rom, going to stock and repeating
I'm having this exact same problem, please post here if you find an answer to your problem.
I first installed checkrom with no problems, then i decided to wipe and try install dlevrom but after rebooting i'm left with the same problem as above.
It's only when i flash stock 2.3.5 KI3 through odin with pit, repartition, all checked that my phone works.
I then repeat the steps of flashing cf root through odin and then try flash a custom rom, either checkrom or dlevrom and neither work.
Another try another fail!
I have no idea on what else can I do!!! tried again and nothing! I tied cf-root 4.1 and nothing and cf-root 4.2 and nothing!.
I'm having this exact same problem, please post here if you find an answer to your problem.

After i got the stuck on boot! I can restore to stock by only using the PDA, I don't need to set the pit file again!, but I'm usign all the files on Odin to see If that makes any difference but nothing!!!
I wonder how mariosraptor did it!!!! Can you throw us a light???
I have explained it on first post. Just follow step by step the first post directions.

Nope it didn't work
The steps I did:
1. Restore to stock using PIT, PDA, PHONE, CSC.
2. After it boots root the phone with cf root 4.1 for ki3
3. Use CWM Recovery to flash the new rom on internal sdcard.
I have been doing it with wipe data, wipe cache, wipe develk.
Nothing is there a step that im missing?
Thanks
SOLVED!!!!!! JAJAJA
The only problem, was one minor thing, a little thing called Bootloader!
I installed the old bootloader!
find it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
And after that every thing worked perfectly, no boot loops!!!!
Hope it helps!!!

Installed Cyanogenmod 7.2 RC --> Kernel Panic...wtf are my options?

As the thread title states...I was on 7.1 and downloaded/updated it to 7.2 Now the phone doesn't boot up and all I get is the Kernel Panic Upload Mode.
Anyway I can fix this? And if so, is there a way of doing it without completely formatting my phone and losing all my apps?
Oh and if it makes any difference I had to install that Siyah Kernel or whatever it was called to get out of the bootloop issue that I had with CM7.1. I'm thinking that that may be causing the problem....? But then again what do I know

How? I've been trying [Power+Volume Up+Home] and it hasn't been doing anything. Can I do it through download mode somehow?
Had this problem when i flashed Lite'ning rom. Had to go into download and flash stock with odin. Took me a few tries to actually get the rom to work. As far as I know, that'd be your only option, seeing as recovery doesn't work for you.
take a deep breath and read, there is a very small chance of bricking your phone just so you know. Flash back original with Odin and start everything again
thanks for the replies...looks like i'm gonna flash the stock firmware back and see what i can do about getting to CM7.2 to work. hopefully flashing stock firmware is enough. I can't imagine how this would completely brick my phone and render it unusable.
As an aside...wtf is the point of this "recovery mode" when the thing doesn't even work half the time?
Anywho...downloading the stock .exe file now from here: http://devsrom4android.blogspot.ca/2011/10/samsung-galaxy-s2-firmwares-bell-canada.html[/url
Ok so I flashed the stock rom and now I'm in Android system recovery: Should I just reboot system now or do I wipe data/factory reset or wipe cache partition??

If you flashed stock, you should be fine just rebooting.
Its stuck on the boot screen. I tried just rebooting, then wiping/factory reset, then both wipes...reinstalled stock a few times and nothing worked each time. I'm suck on the Samsung Galaxy SII GT-I9100 screen
:-\...when I go into recovery, I get a ton of red messages/errors
I'm gonna try somethig other than stock firmware see if that helps.
edit Ok so I rooted the phone and it got past the first boot screen and now appears to be stuck on the "animated S" boot screen...progress!!

Resetting the SGS2 to factory settings for a sale

Can anyone link to a guide about restoring my SGS2 to factory settings? I've moved to a Galaxy Nexus and will sell my SGS2 with Envirofone, of the mobile recycling companies.
Much appreciated!
Questions belong in the Q&A section!
Also, the information on how to restore your phone to factory defaults is covered by the user manual and does not require xda-developers.
if you are on a stock rom, unrooted, just go through the settings menu and somewhere in location and security (i believe) you should find what you are looking for. make sure to also format the internal sd card.
For Android ICS
Settings> Backup and Reset > Factory Data reset
Settings> Storage> Erase USB storage
Settings> Storage> Erase SD card
Assuming you have CWM/Recovery installed, format cache, data, system, & internal sd card in Recovery, flash stock rom in Odin then reset flash counter. Done.
If you don't have CWM/Recovery & not rooted, do as Chef Tony said (definitely not an XDA thing if you're not the sort of person who tinkers with the phone/doesn't root or run non-stock firmware).

Sorry I was not clear. I have one of the nightly CM 4.0.4 builds so it will be the former option. Can I reset the flash counter in Odin, and will the Odin flash also remove CWM and reinstall the stock kernel?
Thanks
Can you reset the flash counter in/with Odin ? Um, no
To reset the flash counter, you need Triangle Away if you're running ICS bootloaders, or a jig if you're running the old bootloader. Now that I think of it, if you're running ICS bootloaders, reset the flash counter with Triangle Away first, before you format everything in CWM & before you flash a stock rom as it requires root. Flashing the stock rom in Odin won't affect the flash counter.
Doing all those formats in CWM before you flash the stock rom will remove root (and everything else). When you flash a stock rom in Odin it will include a stock kernel.

Thanks. Didn't know about Triangle Away, great app. Wiped everything in CWM, and then tried to restore two separate 4.0.3 images found here. Both times Odin finished fine, but after reboot the phone doesn't progress past the animated "S". Any ideas?

[Q] Trying to restore to ATT stock, locks at ATT "rethink..." screen

Hello all, could use some help here.
I'm trying to restore my Note to the factory ROM and I'm running into an issue.
Fyi, I had the latest Paranoid JB Rom from Oct 13.
I followed the proceedures outlined in the forums (used ODIN to restore the default "attstockrom") and after that restore the phone would loop rebooting into ATT rethink possible animation screen.
I found and downloaded the latest 4.04 rom for the phone (I717UCLF6) and rebooted. Now it just hangs at the "ATT Rethink possible" graphic (no animation, no loop).
Odin does see the device fine so I can reflash again with no problems if I need to. I'm thinking of trying the I717UCLA1 version from Jan to see if that works but I'm hoping I can get some better advice before I do something that might cause more permanent problems.
Any advice on how to get back to stock ICS (or even JB) and get the phone working again?
Thanks!
Try doing a factory data/cache wipe from Recovery.
I flashed the stock rom via ODIN. There is no factory data/cache wipe since there's no custom recovery.
Are you suggesting flashing CWM/TWRP on the phone now then doing that?
Houston we have liftoff. Thanks for the tip Fappa, that got me into the phone (reinstalled cwm, factory reset). However I'd still like to remove CWM and go back to completely stock....
I'm not overly worried about it as I'm selling the phone but I'd like the new owner to have a completely clean phone in case they need to send it in at some point for repair. But in any case it's up and running with CWM and factory ICS rom.

I'm sure fappa meant to use the stock android recovery and wipe. when I go back to stock it always hangs at AT&T boot logo and have to wipe/reset from stock recovery to get it to boot.

[Q] I need your help please

Hello,
I was trying to do a factory reset on my S2, and I noticed it doesn't delete my other files (Music, Photos, Etc.) but it does reset my apps installed. Because I want to totally erase my files, I went to recovery mode and did a wipe, and I think I may have wiped the data, system, dalvic, etc on the process. And now my phone wont boot up. It is stuck at the Siyah logo (Because I flashed siyah on it before and it was a success). After this, I tried to flash siyah again into my device and its still stuck. I dont know what to do anymore, I also tried factory resetting using recovery mode. I have flashed other kernels but it still doesn't work. BTW I am using a jelly bean device

Hi mate,
Do you run a stock ROM on your phone like you didnt flash any custom ROM on it....
Did you check if the SIYAH kernel you flashed on your device has STOCK ROM support, cause if the siya kernel you flashed has no support for stock rom it will just stay on the siyah logo the whole day until it drains out your battery.....
if you want to go to this website : http://dorimanx.shine.sk/ and dowload the v8.xxx those got stock rom support..... then do a wipe data factory reset....
if your phone booted up, and want to you wipe the phone completely, go to settings and do a factory reset there, your phone will prompt you if you want to wipe the memory card too.... put a check on it then follow the steps okay....
