From what i understand, u want to extract only the kernel file from the official firmware .ftf file that u have right???
here is what u gotta do.
1. first download 7zip application(google it).
2. then right-click on your .ftf file from wich u want to extract the kernel and select 7zip.
3. then select extract files and select their destination folder.
4. after extraction u should be able to see various .sin files among them u ll have ur kernel.sin.

lwW framework HELP

hi
please can you send me framework.jar and android.polici.jar from FW 4.1.B.0.587 lwW ?
please HELP
Download the 4.1.B.0.587 .ftf here and download yaffey here.
Then you extract the ftf using for example 7zip or winrar. You open sony flash tool (maybe download it here). Then you open flashtool and select advanced -> sin editor. You select the extracted system.sin and select dump data.
Now you can open with yaffey the with the sin editor created system.yaffs2 file and select the files you wont. Right click on it and extract.
With that method you can use all files from the flashable ftf from sony

Use flashtool.
Use 7zip to extract .sin files from .ftf, then extract .sin files with flashtool.

i extracted sin files and from tht i got system ext4 file... i need the folder of system ... how to get it from ext4 file.. pls guide me....i had tried sin2img , ftf file extractor etc... but all end with errors... do u know the compression size of ftf fie of ics...
How did you got ext4 format from Neo/V ics?? Neo/v use yaffs, not ext4.
For ext4 you can use mount -o loop system.img system in linux environment.
But for Neo/V you don't need that.
If you are using windows use Linux reader to mount ext4 image and copy files.

bro you will have to create a new .zip file out of the edited system files.......... and also with META-INF so that it can be flashed via CWM......... There is no way to create an ftf file from this again...............
Better move this general section since it's common to all 2012Xperia devices...

If I extract system.sin only can see the app folder, the others folders are empty, why? How can I get the others folders?
Im missing the files
CERT.RSA
CERT
and the folder COM
in the META-INF FOLDER.
Is this a problem when you flash the rom in to your phone ?

CERT.RSA & CERT aren't important
but you need the /com folder because it contains the updater-script, which tells the ROM how and where to be flashed
so you can't flash a zip unless you have the com folder, you need to download one (it is kinda standard)

Well yes but it would be much recommended if you copy it from a stock flashable Sony firmware ROM (not AOSP based ROM like CM or PAC)

ı see, but the problem is that I am searching for a stock zip flashable firmware. there is none :crying:
thats why I extract the FTF file than extract the system.sin.
I got my Meta-inf folder with only one file inside, got the system folder
but also no boot image? what can I do about that ?
There's no "meta-inf" folder in .sin or .img ROMs as it's a hack used to support permissions (as .zip files don't allow for them) and allow incremental updates where the .zip doesn't contain the whole /system partition

[Q] Update Zip!!!

I want to create a flashable .zip file which will update the ROM if I want to modify some contents...........
Plz somebody could help????????
Thanks in advance:good:
Plz if anybody could help?????????
Can you elaborate your question?
Take another rom cwm zip as a base
Change the contents using 7zip
Then change the updater zip carefully according to changes u made using notepad ++
This was in short

Rather than rom zip, take a CWM zip of mods ,place whatever you want in respective folders.

Re-flash ROM is the best idea.
this is the right call. however, time-consuming and troublesome to deal with. so I wanted to systemUI original. I'd appreciate your help in this regard, and much mercy.

If you have the FW FTF you can extract the sistem.sin from it (with 7-Zip or other software)
Then you extract it's content with flashtool -> Tools -> Sin Editor..
Then you need to get ext4_unpacker and you can extract anything you want from it.
I'd gladly U/L it but I have Xperia P not U.

FTF file is just a zip file, inside it there is a file system.sin you should extract from it.
Any archiving software should be able to do it.
After extracting system.sin, open flashtool go to tools -> sin editor.
Click the 3 dots and select system.sin, click extract data.
When finished there will be 2 more files in the same directory of system.sin, system.partinfo and system.ext4.
system/ext4 is the file you need.
Get ext4_unpacker http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1921399
With it you can extract any file you want from system.ext4
