I signed the petition thanks for starting one. Hopefully LG steps up and does the right thing soon......or we crack it soon enough here

But the main problem is that no One is trying to make rom for L9...
And if anyone is trying then why they are not posting threads?

I see L9 finally has its own section. It may take a bit to attract the developers.

Just signed the petition, fingers crossed that it works.

Petition has been signed. I will say I am happy with the stock ROM for now, as it seems pretty snappy and nice.
Thanks for all the work the devs are doing.

As the known factors we have root and recovery that is the main thing we needed next is Roms and possible a unlocked bootloader so all we can do is what we are doing now it will he a bit til devs start seeing that hey there's alot of traffic we should help out kinda thing patients is a must til we can get more progress

Is someone developing a kernel for L9? I think it should be not too difficoult because there are a lot of custom kernels for omap 4430/4460 devices (like galaxy nexus).

Odp: Why! Why! Why!?!?!
I think it's not hard BUT!! Our bootloader is LOCKED!!! Until someone or LG unlock it, don't have any hope.

How can i check if my P769BK 10e (BK=BLACK?) bootloader is unlocked?

To assess popularity of this device, refer to the T-mobile Samsung Galaxy Exhibit II 4G. That will give a good sense of how the dev community will be a few months from now.

There's a chance of risk of HARDBRICKING the device with the test, but you can always send your device over warranty if something happens.
YOU can make the difference!

Hello Razr users. I was just wondering if you guys have tried doing something similar to what we did to unlock the Atrix and Project Cheesecake. Im brining this up because if you can do the same thing i strongly believe that you will be able to find an OTA file with an unlockable bootloader. The fact that you guys have an impending ICS update only ups the likelihood that you will be able to find one. Ours for the Atrix was found close to our impending Gingerbread update. Only a suggestion but i suggest trying it. I will link to the Project Cheesecake thread once I dig it up.
EDIT: Here is the original thread for Project Cheesecake - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1164582
The mod here is going to need porting to work for you guys or it may just not work at all. I cant do it because I have no real relation to the project other then being the guinea pig and coming up with the name nor do i have any dev experience

Hmm. That'd be this, but it's not supposed to actually brick the phone when 'blown', just chuck it into recovery mode. Of course, that was circa Droid X, it may well behave differently now.

[Q] P768 ROM Development?

Hi there,
This is mainly directed at devs. How come there are no roms being made for the P768?
The source codes are available for this phone, even for the jelly bean version of firmware. They can be found here. I'm not sure what the prerequisites are for building a rom for a phone, but we have source codes, the ability to unlock the bootloader, root, CWM. Is there anything else that is needed?
Sorry if this all sounds ignorant, I don't know anything about custom rom production, I wouldn't even know where to start
Im just curious, as the 760/765/769 all have CM10 in production and there hasnt been anything for us 768 users, I feel like us 768 users are being left out of the custom rom party
Thanks, donk
p768 user here, hope some one compile cm10 for our variant.
Patiently waiting for this also, hopefully soon.
sounds like we have some test pilots lining up. im down for testing also if anyone gets the ball rolling...

I guess on of the reasons is because the 768 isnt as popular and the current devs dpnt have the phone themselves. Also fastboot isnt the same as on 760 its more awkward to work.
I dont know what is needed from a device for development to start but the odds seem to be against us. Maybe when CM10 is fully stable, we might get a port from a kind dev

Hmm no, i didnt yet cause i saw a tutorial in HTCmania (a spanish forum like this) where they use binary's method with v10a (the same i have), i tried but gives me an error (says that located two devices or something like that) so i thought might be 'cause the bootloader is locked that i can't do it.

+1 here i have a P778 but is the same of P768...I wait for a CMD or my device!
really excited about the development taking place here... was disappointed with the development for this model (P768) as I came from the HTC Desire and Desire S forums where development was steady and there were always a plethora of ROMs to pick from with many tweaks and much easier to accomplish rooting, s-offing guides and such.
anyhow I hope my recent ota update to V20A South Africa also simplifies the rooting and bootloader unlocking process which I must admit I have been struggling to achieve on the L9...
I have my BL unlocked and i have got the time, energy and internet connection to do all this
Could anybody help me a bit?
I built cm10.1 for p760. It booted on my 768 but with the camera and torch issue.
I followed this tutorial to try building for p768 using the boot.img of V20A
It did not boot.
I tried using the boot.img built for p760. It did boot, but the screen was not functioning properly so I couldnt check for antything else.
My guesses are that cm10.1 is based on 4.2 and the kernel i used was for 4.1 so maybe that cause the conflict.
Or I need to build a kernel specially for cm10.1.
Could anybody please help me out?

[Q] Device Variants

My dad has a T-Mobile LG Optimus L9 769 and I'm planning on rooting it and putting a custom ROM on it. I see that the device has different versions and the ROMs for the LG phone are labeled according to their versions. Getting to my question, is it possible to put a P760 ROM on a P769 phone? I've tried my best to look through the Q&A's and the General forum for this information but I did not find it. Thanks in advance.

Possible but not recommended. And that's a stock rom, not a custom one. Also unlocking bootloader isn't for newbies so i wouldn't flash a custom rom until you know more about stuff. So your dad wouldn't beat the crap outta you.

From what I've read you will get an inverted screen if you flash a P760 rom on P769 because of the screen size difference.

Don't let looks deceive you LOL . I've looked at the steps and its kind of similar to the G2X bootloader unlock and custom recovery. I looked at the thread to unlock the bootloader and I see that there is no known way to re-lock it so I might not even s-off the phone for warranty purposes.

1. Yes, this is a true unlock. There is no other unlock mechanism on these phones. This is not a work-around, and calling it as such implies that there is any alternate method to use.
2. As for bricking, unfortunately we can't be held responsible for people that haven't done the legwork to verify that what they're doing is safe. We (Team Codefire) never released any mods for the G3 variants that were not unlocked in an effort to do our side of the responsibility to not make it easy for people to accidentally brick their phones. Now that recovery is released, if the end user does not ensure that TWRP functions on their device and ends up getting it in a state where the stock rom does not boot - this is 100% their problem as we were careful to ensure that all the information an informed user needs to make this work on their phones is out there.
2a. Regarding CrossDL, we actually will have a workaround for that here soon. As long as people don't touch their LAF or Factory partitions we can unbrick them from almost anything short of them editing sbl/rpm/tz partitions (which nobody should ever be doing!)
So are you implying boot loader is unlocked? Because this is similar to Loki like on the g2

No, you will not need to ensure your firmware version matches exactly with the ROM you have. You will only need to make sure that the ROM you downloaded is compatible with your carrier.

It's already been started by the devs that roms AND kernels will be able to be flashed as long as they are bump compatible. So yes there will be custom kernels.
As already stated here, and in other threads as well as the official Bump thread by the developers themselves, this has unlocked our bootloader. We are essentially free to flash ROMs, kernels, and other mods (provided they've been Bumped) as if this were a Nexus device. The past couple days have been a fantastic turn of events for our lovely device.
Now, am I the only one constantly checking the development threads hoping for one that has [ROM] in its title? I know we're probably weeks away, but I can't contain myself. I'll gladly donate $50 to the first developer who brings us a fully functional AOSP ROM.

Some devs were given the bump api early so they could get to working on ROM's.
There is a working CM with bugs in the works and should be released probably around the same time the bump api is released.
People are talking something as long as the developer "bumped, bumps" roms and kernels, what does that exactly means?

Anyways it don't matter it's unlocked why are you stressing it so much? Lol

Can the Moto Z be rooted?

Motorola came out with a phone called Moto X Pure Edition where it could easily be unlocked.
Does anyone know if the Moto Z can be rooted or the Moto Z Force? I'm hoping so, because I thought this was the successor to the Moto X Pure Edition which was easily rooted.
If it can't be rooted will the unlocked versions that come out in the fall be rootable? and will they work on Verizon Wireless on all their bands?
Thanks!
This is all that I have found http://www.droid-life.com/2016/06/09/unlocked-moto-z-will-gsm/
If they really make that kind of a move, then that's the last nail in the coffin for Motorola, I kissed Samsung Galaxy phones away for the same reason, no root, no boot loader unlock, will not ever buy their phones until they make them rootable.
So I guess the next best phone on the market is a Nexus?
Though if the Moto phone's bootloader is locked but it can be rooted then I'll buy it, but root is the most important feature to me.
one plus 3 imo is the comparable phone to the moto z. still waiting to see what the 2016 nexus lineup will be. but I am with you, I am a die hard moto fan because of thei open eco system, if the lock it, good bye moto... may go op3
From the linked article..
According to Motorola, when asked if the Moto Z would be unlocked and work on all carriers, like last year’s Pure Edition, they responded to us by saying that the unlocked Moto Z will be “available on GSM networks starting September.”

If that quote from Motorola is verbatim, then my reading comprehension says they didn't answer the question at all.
I don't know for sure of course, but I would be surprised if the non-Verizon version of the phone does not work on CDMA.
any news on a root exploit?

Here you go!
Not trying to be too much of an asshole, but if a root becomes available it will be the hottest thread in this forum and will be sticked. Keep your eyes and ears open and be patient.

I never bought a new phone on its release date, all my other phones have been out for a while when I got one so Root, ROMS and other stuff were always out there. So as your say if and when root does come out for this phone, it will be a hot thread. Thats cool, with some of the reviews I've read, I didn't think this was a popular phone. I think mine runs great but its painfully stock.
I'm thinking about this:
Since Moto Z's BootLoader can be unlocked (I'v tried), why there is no TWRP for moto Z.
Once we get TWRP, we get root, right?

1. Moto Z's bootloader cannot be unlocked at this time. The option in dev options is not the one to go by
2. TWRP and root have nothing to do with each other. But yes.. most likely if and when the bootloader can be unlocked, one should be able to install supersu and root the phone.
I bought an international version of the Moto Z and was able to unlock my bootloader.
How do I go about rooting my phone from here? There are no custom loaders or ROMs available.

This is a little beyond my current technical expertise.
Am I supposed to be compiling this on the device itself? The directions give me the impression that it would need CM or Omni installed already to compile this. Also it seems like I would already need root access on the device to be able to port it. Doesn't that create a chicken/egg problem?

I believe you can do this emulated from a computer. But since no one that I know of has an unlocked bootloader you are the only one who can test that it's working properly. Or wait for others who get the international version to do it. Since most of the people on here at the current time are on Verizon asking us is futile. I will say that I am working on a unlock method but until that is successful I will not be looking into TWRP.
Take Care.

Do you even Linux bro?
A computer running Linux is required. Hence the part that says you need to know basic Linux commands and how to compile AOSP.
