Font sizes/styles in the signature - Samsung email client? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

This is probably a very picky issue, but I am trying to figure out how to get the signature for my work email to look "just right".
There are controls for changing the font size (10, 12, 14, etc), bold, colors, etc. However, the sizes don't make much sense when I send myself an email (i have Outlook 2010 via an exchange account at work).
If I set a font to 10 in the signature on the phone, when I go into that email on my computer and look at the font size, it is 7.5. There are also some odd things that happen if you go too big.
Is there a good way to fix this?
(I will try to post some screen shots of what I mean later).
Thanks!

I'm not positive, but are you sure that your exchange is set up to use pixels and not pt? My guess is the SS phone uses pixels while your computer is using pt.

OK - here is an ugly attempt to show what I mean:
Attached are screen grabs of the phone and the computer (outlook).
The biggest issue is that it is converting the 10px size in the phone to 7.5 Times New Roman (not sure if points or pixels).

10px = 7.5pt.
i'm not sure why it is doing this, but almost sure it is some sort of issue with px -> pt now.

I have no clue... but now that I see that the px->pt match up, i'm pretty sure that is. I'm unsure if exchange has something where it converts it, or if this is just a glitch on the Samsung side.
when you highlight the 12 text on the samsung e-mail app, does it say PX or PT.

Yeah, just went in to the e-mail app myself and there is no option to change it to pt.
My guess it is something with exchange then. I have no clue since I don't utilize that program, but is there an option to make small texts more readable? Like an accessibility option?
I would try changing that part of the signature that changes to a bigger sized font, send an e-mail, and see if it stays the same. If it works, try changing it back and sending it again to the 10px and see what happens.

This is insanely frustrating for me. The default Touchwiz email app only sends in Times New Roman, but will hold the formatting of any text that you copy and paste from one email into another. Here is an example:
I have an email in my Sent folder that was originally sent from Outlook at the office where my default font is Calibri 11.
I open my Sent folder on my phone, find the email sent from my office computer, and copy my signature from that message.
I then paste my signature into the settings for my Note 2 email app to use for all of my mobile outgoing messages.
When I send an email from my phone, the body of the email will be Times New Roman 12, but the signature will remain Calibri 11.
We're on Exchange 2010 so there are font manipulation options for outgoing email in OWA, but this has no effect on my mobile email.
The device / app clearly has the ability to work well with fonts; there is just a lack of control. If anyone finds a fix, please contact me.

Did you ever get to the bottom of this? I am suffering from the same problem, if I view the message in Outlook each line of the signature alternates between Calibri and Arial. Crazy!

Arcsoft Font Size

Hello all, I've been searching high and low for how to change the font size in Arcsoft MMS. I recently flashed to 6.5 Build 21501 with PPC Kitchen and I can't find a way to adjust the size of the fonts when composing a message. I've changed everything I can find in nueFont to no avail. I've tried Arcsoft MMS v3 and v5 and I can't seem to change it in either.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Dustin
Here is a screenshot using Arcsoft 5.
Hmm...that screen doesn't show up on mine. I'm running the VZW version of Arcsoft MMS v5.0.70.24. What version do you have?
That screen only shows up in an MMS message in the text box.... Not sure where to change the SMS text size... probably in the registry......
azclown, thanks for the guidance. I did find that menu, but you're right, it doesn't change the SMS font size. Its only for MMS.
I checked the registry but didnt find anything particularly telling. I'm not quite skilled enough with PPC reg editing to go changing settings.
The thing thats frustrating is I know it was smaller in WM6.1. In fact, it might have even been editable by nueFont. Its not in WM6.5.
That's part of my MMS option while using Arcsoft ver 5.0.71.33 made for Alltel.
But I'm a little confused. Are you trying to change the font size in an MMS or SMS?

The SMS font size. I used to be able to read three or four messages at a time in the threaded mode, now I can barely fit one on screen because the font size is so huge.

Ah, ok. Easy solution. Go into a mail message (not MMS/SMS). Go to the Menu button (right soft key) -> View -> Text Size -> and choose an option. That should adjust for all of your messages (mail, MMS, etc). I'm not sure why the menu doesn't appear in the MMS messages, though. Hope that helps.
Heh, I wish it was that easy. I actually don't have that option. Lemme see if I can get an updated version and see if that works.
The only version I could find for VZW was the one that had been stripped out of the Treo 800w, but most things I read said it didn't work very well. Not sure I want to risk messing up my services just to decrease the font size. There's got to be some reg setting that'll fix this. Help me XDA!
dup post, sorry
Start/Settings/System/Screen tab at bottom for text size. It's pretty global in wm6.5 but works on sms, mms, email, and ie.

Google -- still with the 96x96 contact pics!?!

It blows me away that I'm asking this question still in 2011! I had the issue on WM a few years back and figured Google would allow their contact pics to be bigger by now.
After searching for quite a while, it looks to me like the only solution is to not sync your contacts with GMail. Has anyone found a way around this? 96x96 makes for a horrible looking full-screen caller-id.
depends, if they are on facebook syncmypix works. had some luck with motoblurs syncing.
Possible solution
Theres an app in the market place called Full Screen Caller ID FREE which can take over the screen when calls come in. It allows you to specify larger pics for contacts. It still uses the Motoblur Dialer for basic functionality like in call stuff.

Thanks for the idea...
...tried it...started off well...took a while and added all my contact pics in...but it chooses a small portion of each picture to use as the default picture in the rest of the phone. Its usually not even a recognizable part of the picture. So now I have random sections for all my contacts....and only full pictures for when I'm receiving a call. Which isn't that important to me. I like to use the pictures when dialing. It would seem with today's screen resolutions Google would have an option to leave pictures full size on phone, and only shrink them down for web use.

you can disable the picture option for your contacts so that it uses the original small-size photo you had for that contact before. got o settings -> miscellaneous and uncheck "Overwrite android picture"
i like the app, only complaint is i'm not a big fan of the answer screen layout.

Just to be sure before I change anything...are you talking about settings inside 'Full-Screen CallerID' app istself, or a Google setting on the GMail side of things?
EDIT: Found setting in app...thanks.

[BUG] SMS/MMS Text size & preview issue

I have noticed this as an issue on 3 different ROMs that I have flashed and thinking it must be a Sense 4.0 issue, but thought I would ask anyway.
Inside of the MMS/SMS app, when reading a text, the text size is huge. I've set the font size to small inside the app, but nothing changes.I've also set the font size inside the system settings (settings -> display -> font size) to small, but the text size remains pretty large. Anyone know of a way to make this stick so the font is small?
The other issue is that if I set the message preview to 1 line (also inside the MMS/SMS app), it sticks until I go to another app and then come back into the MMS app, and then the preview is either 2 or 3 lines. VERY annoying and somewhat cosmetic, but is bugging the hell out of me.
I have tried this on Viper, Flipz and Joelz ROMs and the result is the same on each, so this is why I'm thinking it's a Sense 4.0 issue.
Anyone have any ideas?
For the font size issue, open a text message and then pinch the screen where the conversation is. It should zoom out and make them smaller.

It probably won't.
I noticed the same "bug" and it seems like it randomly resizes the font.
I changed the font size to small in the system settings and it didn't change until I rebooted. Have you tried that yet by any chance?

Using the pinch method above did work for the font size inside the texts themselves, but didn't help with the preview.
And yes, I did also try changing the size and then rebooting but that didn't work either.
Same bug exists in email app, as far as preview line setting.

Same with mine. I rebooted and it went smaller but then the next time I went to it, it was small again. I wish there was more control over having different font sizes for different things.

i have exactly the same problem with the message previews... it's infuriating! after rebooting it reverts to 2-line preview but in the sms messages app settings it still says that it's set to 1-line
ive looked everywhere and cant seem to find this problem mentioned anywhere except from here...
i had this problem on ordroid 9 and now on viper. have tried superwipe, clearing app cache, etc to no avail..
did you find any solution? or does anyone have any ideas to make it stick when rebooting

No, I never did find any solution other than pinching the screen to reduce the text size. I have tried around 6 or so sense-based ROMs and they all do it, so I'm chalking it up to sense.

Just out of curiousity, what exactly is it that you're looking for? Changing the font of an outgoing email or just the display font on your device?
if it's the first: Not really a good idea. You can never be sure the device/user you're sending the email to has the appropriate font on his system. Unless Windows Phone is sending emails in html (I am not sure, does it?) it's not even possible. Plain Text emails can not really contain that metadata, can they?
If it's the second: I doubt that will ever happen. Windows Phones distinctive font is the Segoe WP font. MS will most likely never let us allow to modify the font of a built in app, much less the whole system.
The first one! I want to change the font of the outgoing email, the default font is ugly! I understand the problem about the font, but there isn't an option for plain text so...

Messages app - change font size?

Using the Samsung Messages app on my Verizon S9+, I am unable to permanently change the font size in the actual conversation screen. Yes, you can pinch to shrink and expand font size but that gets reset to standard size every time (unlike on the S7 Edge where it remembered your size preference).
Through Settings, you can globally adjust font size but the only Messages screen this affects is the main Conversation screen which shows all conversations. Once you click on a conversation, normal font size is presented. Frustrating for my old eyes...
UPDATE: Ironically, when you adjust Font Size in Settings, if you swipe the sample screen above the sliders, it shows you a sample Messages screen and the font size does change in the sample, but it does NOT change in the actual Messages app. Sounds like a bug to me as they are depicting what I want to do, just doesn't work.
I'd like to use the stock app as it has some features that are unique. There must be a way to change the font size so the setting is persistent, no?
Seeing the same also. Hard for my aging eyes to see.
And also finding it doesn't follow the global setting for size. Same as you.
Same issue. I don't think you can change the font size just for the Message app.
I when back to my beloved and trusted Textra SMS app.
It changes when you change the font size in display settings font.

As I mentioned in my post, this is not true. On my phone, changing the font size in display setting ONLY affects font size in the main Conversations view. Once you click on an actual conversation, the font size returns to the default tiny size.
You can get a newer version on apkmirror.com but it wont allow updating samsung apps for some reson. Anyone have the latest version of messages signed by samsung that will install?
They need ro bring back the S8 messaging app which has this inbuilt feature to adjust text. Wonder, why they ripped off that useful feature.

Hopefully Samsung will acknowledge this bug and release a new version of the app. Clearly the global Font Size Setting is supposed to do exactly this.

It's really not that hard to pinch zoom. Takes a half second. Sure, it'd be nice if it would stick but, c'mon man.
I had a problem with the Background colors in the Messaging ap - some of the themes I like to use are really awesome but when I get to the messaging ap, they used yellow fonts on a white background - nearly impossible to read. I either have to use a different messaging ap entirely (Mood is a pretty good one I found that has TONS of customization options) or just guess at what was written - or change themes.
It's dissapointing that I can't change the balloons or fonts in the messaging ap any more - would be nice if we could - and change font size too - so for now, I am using the MOOD messaging ap and while I prefer the Samsung Stock one better - Mood isn't bad at all.
Its not only internal Messages app, Viber and Hangouts has really small font in input line. Tried increasing font size, tried toying with DPI settings. No idea why its like that and only affecting text input lines, but hope some later update could fix that?
Hi Everyone..I just got the 9 plus and the messaging app is different than it used to be. It is just blue bubbles with white background. It wont let me change anything like before and the setting the background wallpaper for messages is no longer there....is that how everyone else's is?
I also switched to Textra for the all of the customization that it offers. It's a free download so I gave it a try and I've stuck with it since. Just my 2ยข

No, not "come on man". It should work as designed, and has worked since GSI-II.
I use Chomp. Let's you change all of the fonts and sizes, including the message notification pop-up.

I think you mean, "It should work the way I want it to work." It IS working as designed. It's just that you don't like the new design.
That's not to say that I don't agree that it would be better if we could choose a persistent font size. I do.
But we're talking about a split-second pinch out to increase the size.
A split-second.
So, yeah... C'mon.

Thousands of people having to take a split-second to adjust for a design bug every single time? No. You're missing the point.
