[Q] Sony Xperia Sola Help Bootloader Unlock Problem - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

I was just wondering whether (in my current condition) bootloader unlock allowed = no
should be bootloader unlock allowed = yes ?
I bought my sola from target (locked to vodafone AU) - but I already owned a telstra SIM, so I went to voda and got a SIM unlock code for my phone, and managed to successfully unlock my phone and use my telstra SIM, the thing is - shouldn't this mean that bootloader unlock allowed = yes ?
From my understanding and research, {if} SIM lock = no; {then} bootloader unlock allowed {should be} = yes; is this true ?
<Service menu screenshots attached>
I asked Vodafone and they gave me nothing useful, and then I asked sony and they reckoned it is not unlockable, but from what i have read, it should be ?
Their (SONY'S) Reply:
Unfortunately if the Bootloader is listed as not being unlockable this can not be changed. This is a choice of the network the handset is designed for and is not tied into any form of SIM or network lock.
Also something else that doesn't make sense is that Sony provided me with a bootloader unlock key even though they know it is not unlockable: ...
You have requested an unlock boot loader key from unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com.
Your unlock boot loader key is: 8***************
------ YOU DON'T NEED TO FINISH READING THE REST (ONLY IF YOU NEED MORE INFO), OTHERWISE PLEASE REPLY and thank you soo much in advance :fingers-crossed::good:------
{What I Sent Them}:
I unlocked the phone successfully from Vodafone using the unlock code they supplied to me to be able to use it with any carrier, but my Bootloader Unlock Status Allowed = No. Shouldn't it be yes, as I have no SIM lock now?

Firstly
It took me a long time to read this m tired now
Secondly
Sim lock has nothing to do wid bootloader unlock
Sony gave u an unlock key
Bt remember u have to put only 14digits of ur imei to get a key
So u can say that its not DEVICE specific ( there are probabilities that key will work on 10 sony devices wid same 1st 14digits of imei) ( not necessarily true)
Its only a matter of luck that u got a handset wid unlock bootloader

[Q] Xperia x10 Not Fully-unlocked?

Hello.. Newbie here..
Here's the thing.. I have an NTT-Docomo branded Xperia x10 or SO-01B..
I've read that for you to be able to unlock it, you have to debrand it first to a generic firmware.. The phone had 2.1 update-1 initially..
I was able to update it with a pre-rooted 2.3 stock ROM.. I booted it up and asked for an unlock PIN..
And since I wanted to use it with a different SIM aside from NTT-Docomo, I took it to a store the next day to have it unlocked.. I waited like 2 hours then the technician told me that he couldn't unlock it because he couldn't find the needed drivers in unlocking it.. I think he was using SETool that time..
I left the shop.. and when I checked the phone, much to my surprise, it had signal bars on it.. It was only on for a few seconds then it disappeared.. I inserted another working SIM because I got curious if he was able to unlock it without him realizing..
I was expecting the phone to ask for an unlock PIN, but it didn't.. Same thing happened.. It had full signal bars for like 5 mins, but those disappeared..
I checked the phone's Service Menu and here's the info I got..
[ ] Network 5
[ ] Network Subset 5
[ ] Service Provider 5
[ ] Corporate 5
[ ] SIM 0
It doesn't have a cross mark unlike before for Network..
What could be the problem with this phone?
Thanks in advanced..
Try flashing to a Generic 2.1 stock ROM first. Check if it can hold signals for a longer period.
And did u also update to the required baseband and kernel for 2.3.3?

My x10 does the same thing sometimes, I just discard it and it works, I suggest trying different basebands/stock roms, for more information please read the newbie threads in the Q&A section and the several guides.
Manually enter your 3g settings or flash the rom

Yes, I flashed it with Baseband 71 which is required for the pre-rooted 2.3.3 ..

Anyway, thanks all for suggesting to have it flashed again with another ROM.. I'll try doing that..
BTW, yesterday I tried installing Wolfbreak's 2.3 .. I checked the SIM lock info under Service Menu..
And the previous
[ ] Network 5
[ ] Network Subset 5
[ ] Service Provider 5
[ ] Corporate 5
[ ] SIM 0
became like this
[? Network
]
[? Network Subset
]
[? Service Provider
]
[? Corporate
]
[? SIM
]
and under Configuration of Service Menu,
I can see
Working band/s :
Unknown
I know that there should be something like GSM 850 Mhz, GSM 900 Mhz etc under it.. but those were gone now.. And I'm pretty sure that kernel and baseband were installed..
Hello.. I'm sorry for reviving this old thread.. But I think it's better than creating a new one..
Anyway, is it possible that the phone is partially unlocked? Because it doesn't ask for an unlock code anymore and it can detect signals but can't connect to the network..
And can I revert the changes made to this phone? Like have the phone asks for an unlock code again.. Thanks
My advice is to repair it with pccompanion, then start again

dont mess with service menu. you will get you sim card locked permenanently. coz service menu is for telecom operators.
I downgraded it again to 2.1 update-1.. Will relocking the bootloader to NTT-Docomo make the phone ask for an unlock code when an unsupported sim is inserted?

Not necassarily, only certain sim unlock methods wil have that side effect.
If you used s1tool to simunlock you can still unlock the bootloader.

[CLOSED][Q] How to Relock Bootloader (Xperia Mini Pro)

How do I relock my Xperia Mini Pro? I unlocked it through the official way on the Sony Website and wanting to relock it now. I reflashed my phone to stock ROM with stock KERNEL and want to lock the bootloader. I downloaded Flashtool and now I don't know what to do. Should I use Flashtool or S1tool? Please help, thanks
Plus, Flashtool is not recognizing any drivers I have installed, I installed my phone's driver using Gordan Gate's which I got from WontanServer. Will I have to install the drivers manually?
If you used official method, you will need this file, attached to my post, inside the .rar file, and Flashtool. Just place the .ftf file in Flashtool/firmwares folder, then open Flashtool, flashmode and pick the relock_bootloader.ftf file. Make sure your phone is in Flashmode also.
About drivers...I cannot remember, which drivers did I install...
Thanks, a lot, I have finally relocked the bootloader. But just to make sure, how can I check If my bootloader is locked or unlocked? Thanks

Dial *#*#7378423#*#* service info>cofiguration.If it says bootloader unlocked allowed : yes then it's locked, if bootloader unlocked : yes then it's unlocked.
One qeustion by my side: After relocking the bootloader, is it posiible when you send it to the servis to be detected that the bootloader has been unlocked (or maybe that the device has been rooted) previously? I have relocked the bootloader and done repair with Pc companion so everything is like before well.....except that before i did a root with flashtool and didn't knew that the stock firmware isn't rootable like that and i lost 3G!!!!!!...now i must set to 2g in order to get signal coz i get with 3g weak signal and when i make a call it drops off. That's why i want to send it to the service

I knew that your post had nothing to do with relocking patrida If you unlocked your phone with sony's official method you loose your DRM even if you relock it.Now, about the service, i highly doubt they gonna search if you unlocked it but i can't swear about that.There is also another method unlocking your phone without loosing DRM but didn't tried it and i don't know if they can detect it or not

Now i get it.. you loose your DRM the exact time you ask them to provide you unlock code!
So,no matter what you do afterwards they allready know which device is unlocked and which is not.. sosta thessalonikie mou??
My phone is unlocked with the "other" method and let's hope that i'll never have to take it to them and wonder if they detect it or not!!!
My phone now is locked and to check if your bootloader is locked or not, download S1tool. Open S1tool and click "Identify" and then follow the onscreen instructions. When your phone's information comes up it will say "R(some numbers and letters)". If you have a capital R means your bootloader is locked, if you have a small r means your bootloader is unlocked.

You lose DRM, if you unlock via fastboot using official method. When DRM is gone, it is completely gone, currently there is no way of getting it back.

Firmware version doesn't matter. 2 things that matters.
1) that your phone is older than 12w14, which you can check under battery.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=25802604&postcount=144
2) go to service menu (dial *#*#7378423#*#*), then go to service info > configuration . At the bottom you should see this 'Bootloader unlock allowed': , if yes unlocking supported, if no it doesn't support
well it says 11w51......

get an unlock code from your network provider, some people have said that once they removed the simlock its let them unlock the bootloader. if that doesnt work then theres not much you can do untill someone works out another way to unlock it
no fastboot mode.
Theres only one solution I know of, and it may be a crazy one....

* In addition to sim unlock you get an unlocked bootloader.
However, it seems to me that at the moment, this service does not support SXS
Try to write the administration service.

What is a "rootable bootloader"?
For the Croatian members:
I've just called customer service of Vipnet( Vodafone) and they told me that there is no problem, you can unlock boot loader for only 480 HRK (~65€).
Well, if there's no free unlocking solution in few weeks I'll have to milk some cash. It's still better then locked for life.

Then Sony replaced it with clean one and much faster NAND memory.
