Download Ubuntu and the files needed for s-off in Ubuntu and run it as a live CD. any hardware changes reset when you boot back to windows

This is in the wrong section. And also if fastboot doesnt work you should try reinstalling the drivers.
Edit: RUUing also helps with issues, if it will load the RUU. If not im not sure but i think you can use a exe RUU but im not sure if there are any made for ics.

Just fyi, this should not have been posted in development. So since that has been said hopefully flaming wont start.
I had issues with fastboot when using the oem cord or mhl micro usb cord. I still use a regular micro usb cord.

I don't think s-off is going to make much difference what you restore in recovery. People have been flashing back to ICS without issues AFAIK

When used my backup to restore i had to fastboot the kernel. Just use the boot.emmc.win. rename to boot.img. then use fastboot flash boot boot.img.

I have a comp running 64 bit Windows 7.
I accepted the new update from 2-1-13 I believe.
I don't know if it will work.
Def not on my windows.
Will it if I install ubuntu using wubi?
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
I used my 64bit windows 7 machine and it worked fine. The team behind the exploit did not test on, nor do they support, 64bit windows platform. But myself and many others have reported success anyway... I understood and acknowledged the risk and did it anyway, and it worked for me.

Wubi just means you will have a dual boot option correct? If that's my understanding then yes it will work as long as you have the 32 bit libs

The 32 bit version of the wubi.exe or some option inside the installer itself?
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
It's been a while so I don't really remember but you could also burn a Live CD that would work fine http://www.ubuntu.com/download/help/burn-a-dvd-on-windows
Figured out how to do it with wubi in 32 bit. And an ubuntu install takes a LONG time.
After I'm done installing it, I can do dirty racun then dev unlock and recovery and flash roms correct?

Can you try something for me?
Hold the volume down and press the power button.
If the hboot screen shows then you can get back to normal usage.
And when/if you get to this screen, tell us what you see.
For example (what mine is):
*** UNLOCKED ***
SHOOTER XC SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT-1.58.0000
RADIO-1.09.00.0706

If you typed that command while already s-off, then yes you are bricked. Windows recognizing your phone as qhs USB_download mode is another sign of Proof. Your only option is to use the ultimate recovery tool from: unknownforce or the other unbricking method that you've already tried. If your PC can't handle a Linux distro, you need to find another PC. I've used both methods and they work flawlessly.
Good luck
