Phone not starting up - HTC Desire V

I was on Stock rom 1.73.720.1 (Rooted). Today, i installed an app from market named 'Font Installer*Root*'. After installing fonts from that app, when i restarted my phone it won't start.
I mean the phone boots up but it gets stucked at HTC logo & Beats audio logo.
I did factory reset and wiped data from recovery but still stucked.
Any help here?

You must go back to the stock RUU, and make the updates. After this operation you can install custom roms , follow this steps
1) Lock phone
a. Boot into fast boot
b. Connect USB
c. With command prompt : “fastboot oem lock”
2. Install original RUU
a. Reboot system
b. Connect USB
c. Run original RUU.exe
d. Follow onscreen instructions.
3. System will be rebooted. Follow setup instructions. Don’t bother too much with the settings, although make sure you set language to English and set up a WIFI if possible. That will be useful for downloading the update.
4. Update OTA
a. Go to settings >> about >> software updates >> check now
b. If asked select to download the update.
c. After downloading select ‘Install now’.
d. This will take a while. When finished you can check your version in about >> software version.
5. Unlock phone
a. Boot into fastboot
b. Connect USB
c. Run “fastboot flash unlocktoken” unlock_code.bin
install your custom rom
it is a long way, but it works

Thanks for replying.
But i can't find suitable RUU for me. I am from India and the RUU here i can see is of Chinese ROM. So, won't there be a problem installing that?

Look, maybe it works

on the old ROM AND BASEBAND is this right - but I do not believe that this will works for downgrade to the old version - as the Version 1.730.720.1 come with a new baseband ....
...
I had the same problem with this app ... and the only way to solve this, was to advanced restore "SYSTEM" from a CWM BACKUP .....

In my opinion you have two ways to solve your problem:
The First Solution
If you have a backup - you only have to do the same ..
boot into recovery and use the advanced restore function
second way
is to download the flashable zip of aka_noodle
Version 1.73.707.1 ASIA (works fine on our devices)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2044839
flashing this kernel (boot.img) is mandatory to have full BT and WIFI Function
the way to flash it can you find in the same posting
or flash the other ZIP from aka_noodle from this posting
Version 1.73.404.3 EUROPE(I will test this version this night)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2007243
Hope I could help you

Thanks a lot for your Help, tomcatz.

You're right. But if you desire to do an OTA update, you need the downgrade with a matching RUU.
In my Chinese T328w I could downgrade the following RUU "RUU_PRIMO_DS_ICS_40A_HTCCN_CHS_CU_1.56.1402.6_Radio_1.06.34D.05_20.22.30.23U_release_264849_signed" perform.
Or I'm wrong????

Thats right for OTA you must be on original Stock, but therefor you should make a backup with cwm recovery BEFORE you flash anything other than the Stock... And if you want to get the OTA for your device, then restore the backup, relock the phone and anything is okay.
Btw Last night I flashed the european custom rom from aka_noodle and the Phone stocked long time at boot screen... I solved this by restoring only the DATA with the advanced restore option of cwm recovery... after that I flashed the boot_1.img via the adb fastboot command and now I am an EUROPEAN with full function of Wifi and BT

[Q] Root + Flash process same as Original ONE X?

Hi all,
Have a One X+ after swapping my original rooted One X.
Had a couple of months with sense and decided I'd like to start flashing again.
Just to clarify the order hasn't changed?
1. Unlock bootloader
2. Backup then Root + Flash recovery
3. Flash boot.img of intended ROM.
4. Flash Rom
I'd be rooting as per this method;
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=80lMHUgxwww
Will this work for the One X+ just the same?
Cheers guys
Would this method work?
http://www.android.gs/unlock-bootloader-root-htc-one-x-plus/
What I usually do is:
Unlock bootloader
Flash custom recovery
Backup phone with My Backup Pro (messages call logs alarms etc [No need for root])
Move ROM to phone
Flash the boot.img
Wipe Cache/Dalvik/Factory Reset
Install ROM
Reboot
That's how my daily ROM flashing routine goes.
Now if anything goes wrong to flash everything back to factory (I mean this will erase EVERYTHING, will return it like you received the phone) you have to lock the bootloader and you can run the appropriate RUU for your phone.
I use a toolkit from hassoon and it tells you step by step and how to root your phone as well.

I plugged it in and yes, it charged! but I am gonna try the RUU now, ill tell you the results, really never encountered this before ;(
May I ask why you want to relock your bootloader?
If your phone is not charging, it's probably because your Recovery is not the latest to date.
@muhhh351
You should flash a Recovery known working on charging mode, the first releases were lacking this mode, but this is resolved now. Click on Frequently Asked Questions in my signature everything is there for you to find about HOX+ and their recoveries.

TWRP is more complete and a rigourously tested recovery. CWM was modded to work on the HOX+.
First make sure your SDK tool (adb) is correctly installed and also the HTC's drivers. (There is a link for a tutorial in my signature.)
Download the correspondent recovery for your phone International OR AT&T/Telus (N.B. Links are available in the Sticky FAQ)
Flash the Recovery.
Clear Cache
Reboot in Recovery
Install your correspondent version of any ROM.zip you want that is already on your storage. (Otherwise,Sideload a ROM to be able to flash one inRecovery)
Flash the boot.img of your desired ROM
Clear Cache Again
Reboot
Should work

I tried to be polite (anyway I am not allowed to talk like that, I never developed any sort of app, neither a ROM or kernel so I am not very qualified to judge others work), I'm sure you understood what I meant.
And yes I agree everything is way more complicated and unstable with CWM.
Please help. I'm having same problem. I can get into bootloader and fastboot and even successfully installed recovery but I can't get into recovery bc I always go to that white htc screen and no idea what to do next. Please please help me. I am on 1.15 software and 1.32 hboot and 4.1.1 Android version

Reboot your phone in Bootloader mode (fastboot) you should have this 4 choices :
HBOOT
REBOOT
REBOOT BOOTLOADER
POWER DOWN
leave HBOOT highlighted then press the power button once, a new menu will appear :
FASTBOOT
RECOVERY
FACTORY RESET
SIMLOCK
SHOW BARCODE
IMAGE CRC
From there with the Volume control (up & down) simply select RECOVERY and press Power button one time, your phone should Reboot in Recovery mode.
When in Recovery mode the VERY FIRST thing you will do, is a complete backup of your actual ROM and you will keep it as long as you gonna own the phone, so put this backup in a safe place on your computer and make sure to never delete it.
Thank you but the thing is.. I put twrp on it and version 2.3.3.0 and it won't boot in it. Any ideas why? Then I looked for a more recent recovery and I wasn't sure if this is evita?? So, basically I'm still unable to get into recovery and it goes to that htc white screen.
Btw. Your instructions are excellent

Right click and create a New text document
In the new text paste this : c:\windows\system32\cmd.exe
Save it with this name : StartADB.bat (important to save it with .bat extension and overwrite the warning)
Now right click again on your new bat file, and create a shortcut to your desktop.
Now try to adb devices your phone via your new desktop shortcut.
Type this command with your phone plugged : adb devices
You should have your serial in return

[Q] nandroid backup of stock rom

Dear XDA forum members,
I want to go back to stock rom. Searched the internet for a RUU but apparently the don't excist for my ROM version (Insertcoin 4.2.2, HBOOT 1.40). I tried all kind of tricks but without success. What I understood is that I have to go back to stock via a nandroid backup. Unfortunatly I don't have a nandroid stock backup. Is there anybody out there that has a nandroid stock backup I can use? Or does anybody have any ideas how to go back to stock from my current custom ROM?
I have been busy with this for half a week already and still no success...
Thanks guys in advance for all the help....
Greetings...Marcel

I thought I had it done but after trying to flash a stock recovery things went wrong...
If I reboot it is stuck at the white screen with the HTC logo.
I managed to put a recovery on it but everytime I want to sideload a rom it says device not connected.
This is driving me crazy.....any ideas??
Thanks!

If you can't boot then you forgot to flash boot the boot.img (or boot.emmc.win if the recovery was made using TWRP) , connect your phone to the PC and using fastboot first type in "fastboot devices" then if you see your device code , type "fastboot flash boot " then write the exact location of the boot.img then press enter. Read more information about it.
But since you have a custom rom , I don't think thats the problem. is it?

Use that tool so there wont be any issues when flashing a new rom.

Just find a ROM specific for your phone (search xda for desire x) and put it on sdcard. Either with an external SD reader or through recovery. Then wipe all in recovery, then flash ROM and gapps if needed
Then reboot

Long story short: I think i bricked my HTC Desire X. After rooting (succesful) i tried to remove stock T-Mobile apps. They were re-installing after reboot. I did some research and found many solutions, one of them was to install custom kernel. So, i grabbed neXusKERNELv3 and using WinDroid HTC Desire X Toolkit (Fastboot Commands > Flash > System Image) i flashed .img file to my phone. After rebooting nothing happens - HTC quietly brilliant logo, vibration and blank black screen.
One of the solutions of this problem i found in the internet was to install custom rom, but to do so, i have to acces my sd card, which i cant.
I have acces to bootloader and recovery (phillaz touch 5).
Anyone can help me? I'm noob, i just wanted to get rid of those annoying T-Mobile apps!
Thanks in advance and sorry for my bad English, im not native english speaker.
Update: I turned on the phone and left it alone for some time - after HTC logo and black screen nothing happens for some time and then htc logo appears again, and there is black screen again.

Dude one thing, your phone isin't bricked and you said you have Phiz touch recovery right? You can mount your SD card from there (I believe) then...
Before you do any of these make sure you have an unlocked phone (I know you said it. Rooted and unlocked bootloader), java and hansoon 2000's toolkir (optional, if you don't want to use CMD.) and an updated phone (you should have the 1.25 Hboot by now.)
1. Download a ROM and extract the boot.img to the folder where you have "fastboot.exe"
2. Boot your phone to recovery then mount your SD card from there.
3. Copy the ROM on to your SD card. (Oh you know that.)
4. Reboot back to bootloader and select fastboot
5. Plug your phone to your computer using a USB cable and open a command prompt window (CMD)
6. Type the following codes...
Code:
fastboot devices
Then
Code:
fastboot erase cache
And finally
Code:
fastboot flash boot (name_of_image).img
7. BACK UP YOUR STOCK ROM
8. Do a wipe data/factory reset
9. Wipe dalvik cache.
10. Flash the ROM that you placed in your SD card.
I hope it worked lol. Goodluck bro!
In addition if you don't have card reader
1. Flash TWRP or CWM recovery
2. From recovery open "ADB Sideload"
3. Flash the rom.zip with ADB sideload
For more info: http ://android-revolution-hd.blogspot.com.tr/2013/12/ow-to-use-adb-sideload.html
4. Flash kernel (boot.img) via fastboot
Done

thank much! i downloaded the update, and then immediately realized that i didn't have stock firmware. I could have flashed the stock rev, but then i would have to wait till tomorrow to download again, since at&t won't let me.

don't panic if you can access recovery your fine
download a rom and push it to your phone
boot phone to recovery / go advanced / screen / timeout never
on you pc you should have a folder with adb and fastboot
put the rom you choose in the folder with adb
then open a command prompt in the same folder (shift + right click - command prompt here)
in the window type
adb devices
your serial number should be here
adb push rom.zip /sdcard/
let it copy is takes a few min and you can tell it's done
now from your phone go to install
find the rom.zip and flash
you should be up and running
Is the RUU available yet? Can someone please provide a link if it is? Thanks.

you seem very confused .. you can't flash any of these OTA like a rom it won't work !!
users using custom ROMs can't download latest OTA from HTC,
1) If you want to download and flash latest OTA, your device must have completely stock system partition and recovery. Every OTA update is checking MD5 of each file on system partition to ensure .apk patch can be applied. If even one of 1000 files won't match, OTA update installation will fail. In this case you need to flash the latest official update you can find (A RUU) (even one year old) and later download official OTA updates.

its not that im confused, its just that i thought the ota was the same as a rom zip. but it makes sense now that you have to be completely stock to use the ota.

Have you all been able to unlock your bootloader again and flash your custom recovery after the update? And, does the Ota preserve your user data?

after i flash the IMG file to fastboot using ADB what do i need to do next? cause i don't know how to flash the update zip. When I was in the bootloader I tried to get into what I thought was the flashed stock. But it showed a black screen and it was just a picture of my phone with a circular arrow inside a circle. and i had to options before i flashed the RUU and went back to stock. the only one is "unlocked" so i still have S-Off? it doesn't say tampered

Is that only in the stock camera/gallery app, or in any photo editing app you've tried? I
If only stock, it wouldn't be a big deal for me since I use Snapseed, PicsArt, Photogrid, and Instagram.
Are there any other issues you've heard of or had in this new update?

Stock HTC One, at&t, just updated to 4.4.2 yesterday morning (approx 11am EST).
I was able to successfully edit three pictures... The first, a simple rotate, changed the pic and ovetwrote the original. The second, also from a separate folder, I cropped a pic and saved it. This created a second image of the edited content. Finally, I edited a pic from the camera pic folder, which included crop and effects. This saved correctly as a separate file as well.

Some people havce this issue some do not, do not know why this occurs, but its been confirmed from [email protected] in photo editing software....so we shall see
