[Q] Petition for Q&A section [IMPORTANT] - Galaxy Ace S5830i Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Its quite obvious by how our general section is being spammed we need a Q&A section, so i have made this post with the purpose of showing it to a senior mod with the power of creating this thread for us, simple agree to my poll above and maybe post a comment supporting this etc. and hopefully we will get new section
Thanks Mods

I can't answer your poll as I'm using Tapatalk, but I fully agree.

We need at least 100+ votes to get this poll and post anywhere near convincing enough to encourage a mod to make a new forum, there has to be a suffecient demand to get a new forum

a device gets a ques and ans forum automatically after the general thread exceeds the 1000 post mark......making a petition before getting that will be a waste....so dont waste yours time and that of mods....
edit:sry we need 10000 post not 1000

This, we're 72% of the way to a Q&A section and this device doesn't get enough activity to justify a Q&A section anyway... But that's just my opinion

Yes, I am aware that we would normally get one when we reach 10k however I cannot see us getting anywhere near this in the forseable future, we need 3000 more threads and this will not happen anytime soon (Especially as everyone is now using the thread by IAMAREEBJAMAL for questions, this isn't effecient or particularly easy way to help others but is suffecient for the time being to help keep our forum clean) our device is already old and isn't exactly active on XDA and so action must be taken to ask the generous moderators if they would kindly give us a Q&A section, and so I kindly ask everyone reading this to help vote for a Q&A thread so when this is presented to a senior mod etc. They will have a reason to help us out

Not Much Point...
I cant exactly help fight our case to get a Q&A section without much help/need from the everyday user
we need more voters and comments etc. :highfive:

10 Posts first....

Am I understanding this correctly? I need to post 10 times in General or Q/A before I can post in Development thread?
I don't have any Q/A posts to create other than this and I don't have any general questions.
All I wanted to do was post to a thread that the Kernel is running great and no issues so far.
The only question I have is the following:
Should I post then new posts that are useless to get my count up
or
Post back to this thread I created 10 times?
I am leaning toward the latter but before I do I want to make sure I do not get anyones panties in a bunch. If this is an issue I'll just leave it as is and stick to reading.
If you just wanted to thank the dev who made the kernel, you could always just click the thanks button.

From my understanding of this forum, this isn't like other forums where you would post all questions and comments that are related to development in the development section. Since this is xda-DEVELOPERS they seem to assume that all questions are going to be related to development.
So all regular comments go in the General section, and all Questions go in the Q&A section. I believe they want you to post in the dev section only if you are developing something (a kernal, a rom, a mod like CWM).
If you want to report success on a specific rom or kernel, couldn't you just hit "reply" in the thread for that kernel? That's what I usually do.
Also, this will probably keep you from getting griped at by lots and lots of wannabe moderators (in addition to the real moderators).
Yea I know how u feel I'm on number 4 I think so this will be 5 half way there.

Questions belong in Q&A. Questions/problems on a specific ROM/KERNEL/MOD in the development forum belong in the thread related to what you have the question/problem with, not in a new topic. The development forum is for releases of stuff only, along with discussion in the same thread about said releases.
thanks for the clarification. one of these days i will get my 10 post in to thank all the hard working developers

Same here I was going to post in the developers kernel thread to provide feedback as it was new and they look for feedback.
This rule I can understand for new posts but for replying to existing posts I don't understand other than the fact you get a lot of people that post in wrong places all the time. However this will happen with this rule in place or not as they can reach ten posts pretty quickly.
Either way just found it an odd rule. Some forums do a "you must be a member for X days before you can post". This rule allows new members to do reading before they just start posting all over the joint. That one I understand.

Devs do check out the Q/A and general section too, so you dont have to post in their thread if you have a problem.
One good thing regarding the 10 post is that people wont post a thread with a question in the development section. A lot of people who accidentally post there says that their question has to do with development, and so they decided to post there instead of Q/A or general section. If people with a lot of posts still does this, by accident or not, imagine how much work mods will have to do if anyone can post there and is new to the forum.

[FAQ]Moderator needs to reconsider.

Hi Moderator,
Don't take me otherwise. While I am surfing this forum, I can see hell lots of stupid things floating around. Some Rom threads are filing with stupid personal arguments. Lots of threads need to be close as thread's purpose has resolved. If you want I can point it out for you. we know you are doing your job and believe me you are good at it. What I request you is do some initiative to avoid these silly stuffs.
Senior Members,
it's kinda hard to maintain a forum for anyone. As our device a budget phone yet powerful, so we are having hell lots of user and their queries. So
Urge you please give some suggestions so that we can avoid spaming, can also be beneficial for new and senior members.
Aside to new users,
Guys keep your queries thread specific.
Thank you

+1 man. There should be an all in one frequent asked question sticky thread. Most users of the O1 are first time rooters so I don't blame them as much because I had my share of questions.

If the devs could moderate at least their own threads, it would be a different story altogether. Those ROM/kernel threads could be shrinked 80% in size and only useful stuff left.
(Still would not solve the useless junk elsewhere but one could ignore it.)
Dear moderator, could you kindly go through the major development threads (current ROMs, franco kernel) and wipe all the bloody noise outta there.
I will not use a report post function because about every second post is off-topic n00b crap that plain does not belong there, so your PM inbox would get full soon. Not to mention that apparently noone cares about the crippled "report post" function that was discussed in xda-general.
This forum is becoming seriously harmed by useless noise. Some action, please!!!

Absolute power corrupts absolutely.
As frustrating as it is that people don't read and follow instructions, if everyone is banned, the forum goes away, which benefits no one.
Plus, I had to uninstall and reinstall the tapatalk app, in order for it to even show me the Q&A forum. Clearing cache and data wasn't doing it.
I'd say there is a better than average chance that people don't even see the Q&A, unless they've installed the app recently, or are accessing the site through a computer. Just something to consider.

I have posted a sticky explaining not to post questions in the general section. So i dont think we need another. If you feel me thread does not explain properly, please PM me. DO NOT open threads spouting rules yourself, generally you will get a negative response.
Please use the report button to make a moderator aware a post is in the wrong section.

Report all useless/old/spam threads here

Since the new mod is soooo active at cleaning spam, I was wondering how to somehow clean XDA and get all useless **** deleted. Some people will say this thread is useless, but all of us can give links to our own or someone else's spam/old/useless thread. Lets make a resolution to clean XDA. Report all useless threads here till next two weeks. Then after that, mod can take a look at them and delete them if he believes they are no longer of any use
Actually it's the great idea. You have my support
Nice idea. This will also stop noobs from asking questions which have already been asked because they will be able to find threads more faster once spam threads are deleted.
Here are some threads which I believe are useless. Many of these threads are just questions and they should be in general section but people have posted them in themes and apps section

Before you can post in development section such as those for ROM's and other MOD's you will need to have at least 10 posts, I would highly recommend taking a look at this guide on the 10 post rule and the forum rules. If have any other questions let me know I'll be more then happy to help you out .
Okay thanks for the help
And also read rule 15 about where to post
Questions and help issues go in Q&A and Help section

Usually posting in the guide threads will help, also, it would help when it comes time to root and flash roms to read those.
