Facebook notification issue. - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Its kind not bothering me, but stil would like to know and if possible fix it. Before (I assume 4.1.2 was out) I had no problem with the notification from facebook . But now for a long 1-2 month I have a strange problem with facebook (main application), I simply dont get notification when I have message in facebook, but still can get notification of friendship or invatation for game or event or even wall post. Of course I tried:
-Wiping cach
-Dalvik cach
-Factory reset (when was upgrading to new rom)
-Have used different combination of roms and kernels (2 month period was trieng a lot of roms)
-I never restored my facebook application always was a fresh install from market.
And now the most enjoying part, if I install the Facebook messenger I get notifications for the messages like no problem. Its weird.
I dont want to kepp this 2 heavy app in my memmory all the time just for the facebook.
If any had similar issue or know how to fix this I would appriciate it.

But this is what is happening, I don't know what to write more. It just shows 8 emails of inbox, I cant scroll, open or do anything with these. Only way to leave Gmail App is to click home button. Sometimes even that is not working. From time to time it looks like it refresh whole screen from left to right with same 8 emails. The phone is top part near camera becoming hotter during this. I am running official 2.3.4 GB.
First check if process Gapps is running or not.. Then..
Try resetting Gmail... Go to settings-> Apps -> all -> Gmail.. then clear cache/clear data... Launch Gmail again...
I've got pretty much the same problem on my S2, though it behaves a little bit different; the left to right refresh/animation is going totally crazy and when I try to leave the application using the home key it almost always opens itself again. Sometimes it doesn't refresh like crazy, instead the Gmail UI is totally unresponsive. I am running a CF-rooted stock 2.3.5 ROM (XWKI8).
EDIT: I've tried resetting Gmail, it didn't make any difference at all..
So, I am not alone. Hope someone will help. Cleared all cache and data settings, all the same. Even was taking battery of the phone for 10 mins - no result.
Is any other Google Apps running ok??. Can you sign onto gtalk properly?
What about YouTube.. Google reader etc... I am asking because.. Some background services need to be running properly for Google apps
Very very strange, my phone has started having this very issue as of today, too.
I've tried deleting the app's data, resets, battery removal, and even uninstalling and reinstalling the app (rooted).
I have no idea where to go from here, so I've since frozen the app..
Edit: Might be a known issue now:
http://lifehacker.com/5895595/gmail...oid-for-many-heres-how-to-get-your-email-back
I'm having exactly the same issue. Started yesterday.
Could be related to the fact that the Google search app was updated yesterday? Or the fact that I changed my Google password. Other Google apps fine
having this exact same issue, dont know what happened, been completely fine before yesterday :S
edit: im on a Nexus S but this post came when searching for a solution.
Good to know that I am not the only one having this problem. Let's just hope that Google releases a fix soon!

having the same issue this morning on my Amaze 4g
Same problem here and I have a Galaxy Player 5. At first i thought it was because I flashed a custom rom , but this only started happening recently. Guess I have to use the stock email app in the meantime....bleh...
EDIT: checked out the gmail app from the market. clicked on user reviews and sort by newest. everyone is having this issue.
EDIT 2: the issue has been resolved, for me at least
Solved!!!

[Q] Problems after update?

So I got a notification today inviting me to update to the latest software (Jellybean 4.1.1 - I9300XXDLIH), and I did. Overall I don't see a huge difference aside from the battery usage issue (it lasted me the whole day today ), a lot of people say that the UI is faster, which is true, but now apps take longer to start and other elements aren't as fluid because of the added RAM needed for the UI (well, at least that's my opinion).
Nevertheless, my biggest concearn is GMail - it has crashed virtually every time I've opened it today from the notifications, even after I cleared the memory. Sometimes it even crashed form opening it via the home screen, but not every time. What do you guys think? I've also been having an issue with standard (non-gmail) email, where I get a new message notification of the latest unread message, EVERY TIME it fetches new email, but ONLY on my home WiFi. It's driving me mad. This issue isn't relevant to the update though, it has been happening only since 1-2 weeks ago.

Facebook notification not working OMEGA 32

hey guys i have a SG3 installed two days ago the OMEGA rom v32.1 and now i don't have facebook notification anymore. other services that have push notification are working like instagram and whatsapp, but Facebook isn't.
tried uninstall/reinstall, clear data/cache but not worked.
On the app the notification is set to never (as was told to notify as soon as you get something)
And before the installation of the omega rom was working.
suggestions?
thanks.
i got nearly same problem as you. Instead of just facebook, i can't get any notifications after XXELK4 leak. I think it is because of it. I tried every possible thing but the problem goes on.

Delayed, or non, live notifications

Hello all,
I have used my LeECo max 2 for about a month. In the beginning, before I updated to S17 from S14, I didn't have any problems with notifications. After the upgrade I have a serious problem with live notifications. Apps like WhatsApp, Gmail, Messenger, Skype, and more, might show messages immediately, with a short or long delay (min and sometimes hours), and not even show anything until I reopen the app. I made sure that the wanted apps have permission to run when the phone boots up and add them to the app protection list in the battery menu. I found out that S19 was just released a few days ago (leaked) and I had to try it to see if it solved the problem, which it didn't. I even tried to install 'heartbeat fixer' and 'notification fixer', which didn't really helped.
I really enjoy this phone, but I can't take it anymore. I can't get late email and messages, and I don't want to reopen the apps to make sure to not miss any important messages.
Did anyone had that problem and was able to solve it?
Any suggestions will be highly appreciated.
Thank you
same happened to me and i also spent way to much time trying to fix it, so I changed to cm13 rom
Do you know if I can install the latest twrp after upgrading to s19?

All apps crashing simultaneously on MIUI

Hey there,
I have had this bug since I first officially updated MIUI when I got this phone (ie. first day). Right now I am running MIUI 9 Global Stable 9.0.3.0 (also updated through OTA) which I believed would fix these issues which started occurring since MIUI 8 .
I have tried factory reset (yesterday), without any success (Happened today morning).
It's not exactly reproducible manually, however it happens every morning (which is even more weird) or at least once every day.
Here's what happens:
1: Chrome stops loading web pages. The new tab page is changed to a complete white blank. If you wait for long enough, chrome crashes.
2: Screenshots stop working. Three finger swipe doesn't work, and from the notification shade, the output pic is a black screen. Hence I cannot provide screenshots.
3: Notification tone and Ringtone selection do not play (i.e preview) sounds, rather display a message "Could not connect to the internet".
4: YouTube loads data fine until video playback, at which it crashes after some time.
5: Messaging apps (such as whatsapp, hike) cannot send message anymore, however in some cases can receive messages.
5: Other apps such as facebook, instagram etc also crash and don't load content and crash.
The only fix is to reboot the device. Which is fine, however, it gets rather annoying that it happens every single day.
If anyone has any advice for a fix, I'd be very thankful.
were you able to find some sort of solution to all these problems?
i am having the exact same issue(s) and have looked it up all over the net but still couldnt find anything relevant.
Download official rom from en.miui.com
Place the zip in internal or sd
Open updater and update by zip.
Tht should fix it
If even tht didn't do it the you'll have to unlock bootloader and install a custom rom
P. S even oero custom roms are available
updated through miui updater but the issues still remained.
one thing i noticed is that if u keep on using the phone when app starts to crash without rebooting then after a while systemui has stopped comes up.
more importantly most of these issues appeared while using hike.
i uninstalled hike to see if a third party app could be interefering with the background processes and voila!
no hangups/app crashes/network problems for 2 days straight.
thanks anyways.
Yep, uninstalling hike fixed the problem for me.
Pretty weird how hike can crash miui haha
The same problem
Hello, guys! I have the same problem and it's annoying. What is hike? Where I can find it? Did you mean "hike: payments" from Play market?

hike is a messenger similar to Whatsapp. If you don't have it installed, your problem is different from ours, which was fixed by uninstalling hike.
