If you're in europe, you can use the RUU's in the Android Development section

I tried it, but it make a error 155 and in the phone fasboot screen says "hboot older". I think this is because the ruu is 1.14.401 and now i have 1.18.401.1 after the first ota.
Now triing to install a second ota 1.18.401.3 make a triangle error. It´s for that i think i need a intact stock nand backup.
Thanks.

Yes, there are 3 ways
1. Softwate/OTA update from HTC (Officially)
2. S-OFF your Desire X and use a modified P66IMG.zip to manually flash hboot update.
3. Use an RUU for Hboot update (if available)
Regards
Yasir
As far as i know option two (S-OFF) isn't possible for Desire X as of yet, and option three (a JB RUU) hasen't been released.
So we're just left with option one. Do i miss something?

You can only update hboot via OTA update, and for that, you need stock Rom, like it was before rooting, and stock recovery. Then you'll get the hboot update to 1.24 and then 1.25 hopefully.

s-off involves high risk of bricking the device thats why devs stay from it and its very hard to attain s-off as it requires lot of hardware knowledge.. leavin aside some fancy mods, we can still do alot of development without s-off
S-OFF
ohok didnt realise it was that hard to do also when a device is bricked due to this does that mean using a JTAG recovery thing, (I saw one of the guys in the elegancia rom post meantion this) would not recover a bricked phone ?

jtag should allways be able to recover any bricked device (thats kinda point of using it)
oohk just got the idea that it didnt always work although the JTAG thing I was looking at did several things like S-OFF supercid etc

You're not stupid, just not reading much.
Yes, you need a stock ROM with everything intact (not even a single file is missing).

@ckpv5.
I recently tried an experiment. My bro Huawei phone got ota but as he had modified system apps, the ota failed. His ota also had firmware and hboot update (89mb)
I opened the ota zip, in updater script removed all assert checks, and then flashed ota, and it completed, even his firmware and hboot got updated. Have we ever tried fooling HTC stock recovery ?

[Q] Which is the good JB update?

Hey,
Finally Optus rolled out some kind of Jelly Bean update for the Desire X. Yay? They have released Software Update 2.23.980.3 with Android 4.1.1 and Sense 4+. Is this the good bug free Jelly Bean update or the buggy horrible Jelly Bean? If this is the horrible update, then could you possibly tell me the update id for the good update so I can chase up optus.
Also is there any way to restore to ICS with a rom (My phone is locked to Optus AU) as my CWM Backup says MD5 sum mismatch when I try to do a backup.
I have to relock my bootloader and update then unlock it again right?
Thanks,
Joe
(Sorry I asked some many questions, I'll try not to next time )

I have the 2.22.720.6 version update and as far as I have used, There isn't any bugs. Your update might be better (Or worse) cant say without testing.
To return to ICS after JB update, Follow this guide : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2213663
If you are having the stock recovery, rom and kernel and using the OTA Software update from Phone Settings then no need to unlock/relock bootloader.

Just remembered that I flashed a 4.2 Google Apps zip with no nandroid backup, can I still update by just flashing stock recovery?
I'm sorry, but I think you have to return to complete stock by using a nandroid backup by someone with the same CID like you. Or wait for S-OFF. But that can be a long time...

So if I went ahead, flashed stock recovery and updated, even with the flashed 4.2 GApps, what would happened.
P.S. If of any use, after I flashed the zip (6 Months Ago) and found I could not go back I panicked and relocked the boot loader and obviously the G Apps were still there, but the phone was still functional. When I realised what I had done was unreversable and unlocked the boot loader again.
Thanks,
Joe

I am stuck and need help! I know this is not the right forum completely but i want to return to stock ROM.
I tried installing the CM 10.1.1 ROM by Lloir and followed his steps correctly. Unfortunately forsome reason my phone in stuck in a bootloop in the CyanogenMod screen and will not move further. I try switching it off but it restarts and gets stuck on that screen again.
What do I do to go back to stock ROM, can I use Odin or something?
PLEASE HELP!

Hi guys.
I wonder if someone can provide an ruu(download) link for HTC one max.
I know for sure I m not the only one who want that.
In my case I need it to install from scratch over my branded Rom(t-mobile Germany)
I will flash it when I change my cid to super cid.
Thanks in advance

Which rom are you trying to install?
T-Mobile, Unlocked bootloader, S-ON.

If you are on ICS why are you trying to flash another stock rom? I think that official T-Mobile devices received one last OTA that Unbranded users cannot get. This may be the problem you're facing, the device may be more updated than the RUU you're trying to flash
