All the files not being found with different extensions is normal
It always searches for all of these files every time you load the bootloader, and unless you put a pg86.img on your sd card, than it's okay that it's not there.
If a ruu doesn't help, then I don't know, Does the RUU give an error??
If so what does the error say.

to use tis file you have to take your phone and go into your hboot and select fastboot
next plug your phone up to the computer via the usb cable
the ruu i gave you the link for double click that on the computer and let it run .....this iis something that must be done on a windows computer not a linux
the difference is that one is a zip file and it contains the gingerbread version of android which functions mainly with hboot 1.4,1.5 or 1.04 eng
the zip file can be installed by renaming it to pg86img.zip and going to hboot
the file you are supposed to down load contains the file for ice cream sandwhich which runs on hboot 1.58.... so since youre s-on you have to use this file and run it then you can go about customizing it

tried one ruu???

That's an interesting way to bump a thread.
If you successfully flashed the RUU and the phone won't boot you probably need to get it replaced.

He said he flashed the RUU successfully and the phone still wouldn't boot. I have no way to confirm that's true but if it is I don't think flashing anything else is going to help him at this point and he should at least get someone at Sprint to look at the phone since presumably it's been reset back to stock.

Do htc unlock and Revolutionary.
Nope no luck for me either on hboot .11 sickened.
what does htc unlock do that revolutionary does not ? I thought revolutionary was htc + now more options to flash splash radio kernel etc...I just flashed a splash without doing htc unlock again and it went fine
also, can I htc unlock now again after revolutionary ?

I noticed on the hex screenshot in the original post that the line he was editing was a bit different than mine so instead of just 22 to 20 I changed the rest of the number to match his exactly. It seems to be working properly this time. I got the option to update which I didnt get the last time.
Yeah its updating perfectly now.
What I meant was
In the screenshot the hex line was 1.22.720.1 that you change to 1.20.720.1
My phone didnt have 720.1 at the end of it, it had a different number so I had to change the whole line not just the 22.

Things to try....1. factory reset in the bootloader
2. Download the latest leak from the post #3 here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1757357 rename to ph98img.zip, boot into hboot and let it install. It it will take a while as you'll see there are many items to install.
That better give you a working phone
After, rename/remove the ph98img file from your sd card.

Old firmware patch, or new firmware patch
Depends on your firmware and Rom
ICS only works with ICS firmware or you get reboots, same with gingerbread

If you followed the directions for installing the latest leak as in post#10 and it flashed correctly your phone should work. I don't know what else the problem could be.
YOu put the .zip on your SD card....took out battery...put back in...held vol down and power to boot into bootloader....it found the ph98img.zip (RUU)....took a long time to flash....all items showed 'ok' .....then booted up.....if it bootloops still...I'm puzzled..because this should give you 'stock' ICS (as closed to stock as we think it will be when the OTA comes out)
could try again. The NEW firmware patch is used if you are on ICS firmware and you try to run a GB rom.

Wow..I'm out of ideas... ebay? HTC? :crying:
Maybe try going 'all the way back' to stock by flashing one of the official OTA RUU's found in one of the sticky roll up threads. Oh, you can't do that because you are s-on.. Sorry, you'd have to do the s-off if you want to flash the older RUU....what have you got to lose at this point.

Evita S-Off

I achieved S-Off on my Evo 4g LTE by downgrading from HBOOT 1.19 to 1.12. After doing this I stupidly ran RUU to upgrade from 1.13 to 2.23. Now my bootloader is showing the following:
EVITA PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
CID-########
HBOOT-1.12.2222
RADIO-1.12.11.0809
OpenDSP-v29.1.0.45.0622
eMMC-boot
It also has an incorrect IMEI, but a correct SN, and don't know about the MB there. All of them have barcodes as well.
Evita HBOOT on a jewel? The phone now only sits on the HTC Splash with the Dev warning red text.
Am i screwed?

Sorry I meant 2.13, I was at work and didn't have it in front of me.
When I run the RUU it does go into RUU recovery and scrolls across and give me successful at the end. But still no good. When i plug it into my windows computer it shows up as "HTC Android Phone USB Device".

Since its the wrong model it looks for PJ83IMG.zip. When I do this it reverts the HBOOT to 1.12.2222. When I do the same for TWRP it flashes but still won't boot to it.

Nevermind. You could always try the downgrade. It seems like its the same process, especially if you ran the wrong ruu and it pushed a different hboot.

I ran the 1.13 and it took, i got into adb but could not get root (not surprised) I installed SuperSU and still couldnt get root. It seems like it runs the system underneath the splash. Sometimes the volume keys even play sounds like its adjusting. I rebooted and havent got back into adb.
Could the HBOOT just be miscommunicating with the hardware?

I was talking about the hboot downgrade in the Original Development section. It won't be much of a downgrade, since your on the same hboot, but the process seems like it would set you back on track with the jewel.

alright somehow when i was in recovery and noticed i had the # (root) in the adb shell so I rewrote my apparently broken block 4 with the backup i made after S-off.
SUCCESS!
Now im booting into my system and my recovery. although no network access right now although it might have to do with firmware bits, I'm gonna try to RUU with 2.13 again.
Somehow u kept the OneX downgrade files even after the RUU which seems odd. Have u tried asking the people working on the downgrade process?
I'm sure they would be more helpful to you.

What RUU are you trying to run? Since you are S-ON with hboot 1.58 the only version that should work is the Sprint ICS (2.89.651.2) version.

Yea, that's the latest GB version but won't flash over the Sprint ICS build.
Here's the one you want.

Did you ever run the fastboot commands posted above to display your CID and mainver? If so, what were the values they returned?
Also, did you check the MD5 for the RUU.exe file after you downloaded it? I know that RUU.exe is good because there have been almost 1400 downloads without any problems reported.
Is the phone in "fastboot USB" mode when you start the RUU.exe? Here's a post with some more RUU.exe troubleshooting tips that might help.

I Got SPCS_001 and 2.89.651.2,
I did not check the MD5 because I have no clue what that is,
It was in fastboot usb mode when I started it.

You have the correct CID and mainver for the Sprint ICS build, so that looks good.
Have you tried a different USB cable and/or another PC? Based on everything I've seen in this thread so far you are doing things right, but something may be corrupting the RUU as it's being flashed.

I have tried different cables but not different PC's, I will give it another go with my laptop

I just tried using my laptop and got Error 170, so I tried a different cord and that didn't work, I then thought that the file may have been corrupted and re downloaded it and still got the same problems. I then went to go and see if the other RUU (2.17) would connect to the phone and it did but still got me the error 140. Would I need to use another PC or what, cause I don't know where to go from here

Let's take a different approach.
Try downloading the 2.89.651.2 RUU (the first one) from this post, place it in the root of your SD card and rename it to PG86IMG.zip, then start your bootloader and press the power button once. That should give you a prompt to authorize the installation so go ahead and do that.
This approach will eliminate both the cable and the PC as possible causes of the problem.

I performed this twice on two different computers using different cords each time and when I went into the bootloader, on the top right it went through a blue and then a brown loading bar and then went back to bootloader doing nothing

Yes I did, do you think if I would root my phone again and then relock it, this could be fixed?

I really don't know what the problem is but you would definitely have a better chance of fixing it if you are S-OFF. You could unlock the bootloader, flash a custom recovery and then a stock rooted ROM and try the wire trick. If you can get that to work you should definitely be able to flash the RUU.
There is a stock rooted version of the Sprint ICS ROM in this post.

Okay so I unlocked my bootloader and put 4ext recovery on, but I am still having problems flashing firmware, it goes to a loading bar then it says it is parsing then returns back to the bootloader

Unlocking your bootloader and installing a custom recovery is considered "rooting" and not the same as being S-OFF. If you want to flash PG86IMG.zip files from your bootloader you will have to perform the wire trick procedure to get radio S-OFF.

But in order to do the wire trick, you have to be on a stock RUU and at the moment I am not. I tried installing the stock rom but all its getting me is to the sprint loading screen when trying to boot. Will the wire trick still work?

According to the OP of this thread you have hboot 1.58 and should be able to boot a rooted stock Sprint ICS ROM. Did you do a wipe before you flashed it?
If you can't get the rooted stock ROM working you can try doing the wire trick with a "stockish" ROM like MeanROM 2.6. That's not supported by the JBear team but it's worked for some users.
You can't use a GB stock ROM because it won't boot with 1.58, so that's not an option.

Ruu Version

So I have the virgin mobile 3d and I am rooted with s-on. I've been trying to get it off tho. So I was following the quick and dirty thread. And so I relocked the boot loader and then I started up the RUU like the guide. And about halfway through the installation it gave me boot loader version error 140. So I looked it up and I think it means that I was trying to downgrade. And that's why it didn't work. I was supposedly going from 1.14 down to 1.13. These are the version The ruu gave. I'm not sure what the numbers were about but can someone help? That ruu was supposed to be the most updated one. And i have been searching like crazy. Any help would be appreciated. I understand these things, so don't be afraid to talk techy to me lmfao. Thanks

See the note for S-ON users in this post, which is also linked in the informational posts after Step3 of the guide. The reason you are having this problem is because you have already installed the OTA, which has a higher main version (mainver) than the VM RUU.

Good.
Don't forget to download and flash the OTA again after the RUU is flashed since it requires the stock recovery.

So it worked!! I finally got s-off!!! Now one last thing, how do i go about downgrading the hboot. I plan on going SlimBean. I tried flashing the sprint 1.5 hboot but it failed. The error said that the custom ID failed. . Is there any way to downgrade?

I have tried this. And a side note* when I boot into the boot loader it doesn't look for PG86IMG.zip it looks for PG86DIAG.zip. its really weird. Anyone know what this is? I tried renaming it to that but it doesn't do anything. It just reboots the boot loader. I have also tried flashing it through fastboot

The PG86DIAG.zip file is an advanced diagnostic that is very tightly controlled by HTC, but the bootloader always looks for it anyway.
The filename for the zip doesn't matter when you use the fastboot flashing method. Can you paste the messages you are getting here starting with the "fastboot erase cache" command? Make sure you delete the PG86IMG.zip file from the root of the SD card before trying the fastboot method.

OK sweet that it good to know. I tried both methods and it didn't work. But when I used the fast boot method I got a custom I'd check failed error. I'm not by the phone right now. But I remember the error. That's the only one I got. When I tried downgrading from 1.57jboot to 1.5

If you are on hboot 1.57 then you probably have the Evo V 4G which means you need to use the Virgin Mobile version of the RUU.

So you're saying I should extract the PG86IMG.zip from an older VM ruu? And then place in the root of my sdcard? That would give me the stock boot loader :-/. I already got s-off with jbear hboot 1.7
I'm trying to dual boot eventually so I want to be on hboot 1.5
Edit: one thing I haven't tried is leaving it named PG86IMG.zip and placing it on the SD card. But using 1.5 is that safe to try?. I'm thinking it will work because it is a sprint phone. It has sprint branding. It is just on VM. Let me know what you think

Follow the instructions in this post since you are S-OFF already. I recommend the JBear 1.50.5050 instead on the 1.50 hboot since that doesn't need to be unlocked to run extended fastboot commands.
