I brick my phone Can anyone help? - HTC EVO 3D

Yes, brick my phone, my htc evo 3D with Hboot 1.58, Unlocked Bootloader.. I tried to flash the CyanogenMod Gangnam Style, with 4ext recovery, and stuck on Boot Animation.. I accidentally format system in te recovery, there is a solution? Thanks!

If you are s off you need to do downgrade your boot loader. If you are s on you needed to do the write trick then downgrade your boot loader.

To get your phone in order now, Download a sense 3.6 rom and format everything but sd card in recovery and flash it, Make sure you read up on the requirements to flash next time, All roms have certain hboot's you have to be on.

I was thinking more about getting cm to work and forgot the part about just getting the phone to work at all. Probably a better route

You can not install Cm 10 or 9 with Hboot 1.58..... you need to S-off and downgrade it to hboot 1.49 ....do the wire trick to downgrade it.....ATM you still can get to bootloader right?? so it is sofbrick and very easy to fix....download the correct RUU and flash it...With hboot 1.58 you can install rom with sense only...

Unlock Bootloader from HTCDEV.COM (Updated)

You can now unlock your rezound's bootloader at http://htcdev.com/.
Just follow the steps on htcdev.com, and at the last step you will have a factory reset. So, please make sure you do a backup before attempting this unlock trick. (Thanks to NilsP for pointing this out)
Bootloader unlock will grant perm root and possibility of flashing customized roms.
Note: S-on remains
BE AWARE:
bootloader unlock will VOID your rezound's WARRANTY, I am not responsible for any damage it may cause
[INSTRUCTIONS]:
[Prerequisites:]
HTC Sync (Windows Only)
HTC Super Tool
Enable USB Debug on Rezound
Use Charge Only mode when connected to PC
Exit HTC Sync on PC
[Steps:]
1. Go to HTCDEV website: http://www.htcdev.com/bootloader/
2. Click on "Begin Unlock Bootloader" (create a user if you don't have one)
3. Use HTC Super Tool in the [Prerequisites] to generate your token. (Or, alternatively, follow the instructions step 1 through step 10 on htcdev.com)
4. In step 10, when posting your token, make sure you remove the blanks preceding each line
5. After you receive your Unlock_code.bin in email, follow step 11.
6. Now your rezound should reboot and you have your bootloader unlocked.
Now you are unlocked. You can follow the following threads to obtain perm root, flash recovery, flash new kernel, and overclock.
[Guide] You are Unlocked. Now What?
[GUIDE] Super-noob guide to unlocking, rooting, and flashing Ziggys kernel
7. After unlocking your bootloader, use this one to get perm root:
One Click Perm Root (Thanks to NilsP)
8. Flash the recovery if you need.
[Recovery] Amon Ra style vigor
[Recovery]ClockworkMod Recovery 5.5.0.4
scrosler kindly provides a tool to flash the recovery or boot img.
You can find it here
9. Flash Deodexed ROMs:
Clean ROM 1.0 from scrosler
RezROM v1.0 Beta from lllboredlll
Questions about flashing ROMs:
Possibility of flashing ROMs (Thanks to scrosler)
To uninstall the bloatware, try ROM Toolbox
Umm
WOW ... how exactly do you do this, and more importantly, can it be re-locked if you need to do a warranty exchange?
yeah, it does not show up in the list. But you can just go and do it. The Vivid forum is saying the same happened to their model.
Dammit! I almost jumped out of my seat when I saw this post! Booo!!!
And it worked. I am now "UnLocked"
And factory reset. Forgot about that
Sooo.....
What's the deal here? We got a free pass from HTCDev?
Now we have perm root and can flash roms from stock recovery?!?

Slow your roll....All we have is the ability to write to the system partition if I understand the "unlock" properly. S-ON still prevents rewriting the recovery partition. But perm root, yes.

You need an app like Titanium backup(which requires root), there are others but Titanium does a pretty complete job.

If you read the warning on htcdev.com it says that unlocking your phone may void certain warranty conditions. Usually if you need to return it you just put your phone back to stock or smash it on the curb and take the $50 hit in insurance ;-)

I need help my EVO 3D is stuck on the second screen that comes up as it boots. It has been unlocked (HTC dev) flashed (4ext) and has a custom rom (Shooter Sense 3.6) on it. I can get it into the bootloader, and into the recovery, but cleverly i forgot to make a stock backup and can't revert from where im at.

Thats pretty much all the information i have, other than its a Telstra phone.
you have to manually flash the boot.img using fastboot

EM|NEM said:
the reason its not booting is probably because you didnt flash the boot.img using fastboot. that is required to get roms to boot when you are s-on.
first install the rom from recovery.
then extract the boot.img from the rom zip file(probably in the kernel/shooteru folder) then place it in the folder where you have adb, fastboot and AdbWinApi.dll which you used to unlock.
then open cmd. change directory to the folder containing adb/fastboot.
Connect your phone in bootloader mode and make your it says "fastboot usb"
then type in cmd "fastboot flash boot boot.img"
it should do a process and show that it completed.
then reboot and it should boot up.

Maybe try a different rom.
And if all else fails you can always use RUU

go to recovery. do factory reset in 4ext and wipe cache+delvik
then install rom.
then flash boot.img in bootloader mode
Its still not working. stuck on the boot screen still. after manually booting with fast boot.
you could make your life so much easier by doing s-off. the rom you are trying to flash requires a newer firmware(which requires s-off).
I think you can update your firmware using an ICS RUU. or you could take the OTA update if its available

Im giving it a go again now following your instructions to the T.
If you have s-off then just flash the latest firmware in bootloader

then install the rom. no need for manual flashing of boot.img
should have stated you were s-off :banghead:

Dont want S-Off but problem flashing roms.

I was going to S-Off but lack of clear directions and dead links and such I decided against it.
What my problem is is that I that I flashed ViperRez when It first came out and now I'm not able to flash any other Rom.
I know I need to extract the boot img from the ROM i want to use and flash it BUT I cant get adb to run on my system.
I know about renaming to PH98IMG and flashing it.
I even took the the PH98IMG from an existing Rom and dropped the boot img I wanted into that folder and zipped it back up.
I have tried to flash several boot images many different ways and always no image found. :crying:
I have read every help file on this and followed the directions but still no luck. Can anyone help a old man out..
Thanks in advanced....

So basically adb wont recognize your device? if so you could try to reinstall the drivers and that might help.
Not sure about the dead links, but I think the S-Off directions are pretty clear. Seriously, this kind of trouble is exactly why you do want S-Off. The amount of hassle you are spending on this would probably have already resulted in S-Off.

Well, you could back up everything on your rom and backup your internal storage and try to use the global RUU to get back to complete stock and then that will probably fix the problem. RUU fixes most problems.

Glad you got it working. if you decide to soff, which i highly recommend, make sure and follow exact instructions and VERIFY you have proper working root before starting. Once RUU's are released, soff pretty much makes your phone 99% brick proof, but there is always someone who finds a way.

[Q] New at rooting, need some help

Hey guys, so I've been reading through the forums for a week and I have never rooted, so please forgive me if I am missing something.
I recently picked up a Verizon HTC One Max and thought why don't I give rooting a shot. I did some research (not enough apparently) and was attempting to use Rumrunner. After that wouldn't work I attempted to do the CyanogenMod easy root (sorry if I have that wrong) and that did not work as well, I eventually stumbled upon having to get on to HTC Dev, so I i attempted to unlock my Boot Loader, and found that you are unable to do that Via HTC Dev.
So my question to you seasoned vets, is can anyone point me to a step by step how to for first timers on Verizon running HBOOT 2.49 and are on 4.4.2. Like I said I know I am really new, and still not sure how to go about flashing a new ROM once rooted, but I will get there in time. Thanks to any help in advance guys.
Check out this link. I think this would work for you.

I'm not really experienced, might want to wait for one of the pro's to confirm before you try.... I except no responsibility. lol
Still having some issues. Tried running rumrunner again and it'll get to "packing bottles" and than error out with unexpected behavior.
Tried doing the weak sauce/Forrester method and supersu will error out.
Any other ideas?
Have you unlocked your bootloader with HTC dev? If not try firewater. temp root and then s-off and it will unlock your bootloader at the same time then you can go about flashing custom recovery and then try custom ROMs. That's the way I went but I'm on international build

Or look on firewater website at the weaksauce s-off option and try again.

Yeah sure but I'm in UK so getting late here drop me a pm and I'll get back to you. Your best option is after work trying firewater. Have you ever rooted/unlocked/s-offed a phone before..? Do you know how to use adb and fastboot?
FINALLY!
Bootloader is Unlocked.
And I am S-OFF
Had some troubles with getting weak sauce to cooperate, finally just installed it on the phone itself and ran it. Than pushed firewater and worked with it in ADB.
On to the next project. Big thanks to nathlynn22, tip my hat to you boss.

That's cool mate does take abit of getting used to but in the end when it works you think yeeessss. Haha. On to flashing ROMs now just make sure you make a backup of you stock ROM as there is a shortage of ruus

Ok if you want to go to power setting turn off fastboot and then go to boot loader by turning phone on with vol down to check hboot.

Oh actually just noticed your on Verizon should you could use same as op and find firewater s-off in HTC one max General and use the weaksauce firewater method to temp root s-off and unlock boot loader. Then you need to flash corresponding custom recovery so cwm or twrp cm ready or twrp depending on roms you want to flash. After you flashed custom revovery you can root when you reboot from that then take a nandroid backup of stock Rom and then flash custom mods etc.
